"So..." Nero began, "this is what you've been doing?"

The young demon gazes upon the building before him: there were times he had caught his father sneaking out for odd reasons, but often he just chose to ignore it. Although - for what seemed to be the 100th that occured - his curiosity eventually got the best of him.

But instead of the crazy ideas his imagination gave him, it was something he hadn't expect: The twins' home - the home of The Legendary Dark Knight - had been restored by the elder twin.

"It took a long time for me to rebuild" the older cambion explained, "especially since most of our old belongings were lost to the fires"

He then opened the door of the household, gesturing his son to enter. As Nero came in to his father's childhood home, he was greeted by the sight of the mansion's interior: there were times during his moments with the twins where he'd find them talking about their old home from time to time, and oftentimes they - mostly Dante - seemed content with telling him the antics that occured when they were younger.

His hand roamed around the walls and the furniture, seemingly intent with caressing its textures. He seemed content with even just gazing from its design, whether it would just be its color scheme or the small chandelier that hanged over the ceiling of the main entrance.

"How the hell did you restore all of this?" The young demon asked

"I at least know how to conserve my fair share in our jobs" his father told him, "the difficult part was keeping it hidden from Dante"

The two were left in silence as Nero's father picked up a book from one of the nearby shelves. After some time, the young demon spoke up:

"So what now?" He asked, causing his father to look up from his book.

"Pardon?"

"You rebuilt grandpa's old home, so what are you gonna do now?"

"That is for me to decide" his father replied, "but first thing is I'm going to bring your mother here"

"Really? Thought you were going to just-"

They feel the earth below shaking, as if it was about to collapse upon itself any minute.

"This is... curious" Vergil commented, before exiting the mansion with Nero close behind: to their surprise, they see a giant rift beyond the skies, with large armies of demons descending onto the city below.

"We need to get the others..." Nero said, before father and son ran towards the city.

"How the fuck is this happening?!" Nero asked, before cleaving a demon into two with the Red Queen's blade: he managed to successfully call Nico and Dante, who managed to gather the female devil hunters. Even Ei, although that was more of she overheard Nero's conversation and had opted to join.

"My guess is that our father's seal has been weakening over the years" Dante shrugged, before pumping a couple of demons full of lead: "sure did took a beating for how long, guess it just gave out now"

The two watched as a large amount of phantom blades came crashing down onto a group of demons, striking at every vital part of their body.

"Both of you, concentrate" Vergil reprimanded, before turning back to the legions of hell: he threw a large phantom blade onto the next group, watching it generate a vortex as it tore the demons to ribbons.

"Hey Dante, you thinking what I'm thinking?" Nero smirked, before putting on the ragtime devil breaker.

"Oh ho! Space-time shenanigans?" Dante grinned

"Space-time shenanigans" the young devil hunter replied, his breaker slowly overloading from the charge.

"Stand still" both said in unison as Dante snapped his fingers and Nero's devil breaker burst: the world around them developed dull colors, time seemingly have frozen in place.

"I'll take the left, you take the right?" Nero asked, only for his uncle in response

"Pretty much"

And the two went to work: Dante tore demons to shreds with Cavalier, all while Nero cleave several into two with the Red Queen. As time resumed, not a lot of demons were left alive.

"Still" Nero said, slinging the Red Queen over his shoulders: "this awfully concerning"

"You tell me" Dante shrugged, "all we need to do is to close that damn rift in the sky... Vergil?"

The two looked around to realize that the elder twin had taken to the sky, flying towards the giant rift in his devil form.

"Let's give him a hand in case he hurts himself..." Dante said, before transforming into his demonic form as Nero followed suit: the two took to the skies as they struggle to catch up with Vergil, who was already far ahead to begin with. But the moment they finally caught up...

Nero saw his father get shot down by small beams of light.

"Vergil!" Dante shouted, diving towards his falling brother: as Nero looked back at the rift, he could see three large floating orbs emanating an ominous red glow in the darkness. It may have just been his mind playing tricks on him, but he could've swore they were staring at him.

"What the- gah!" Nero was taken off-guard as the orbs fired the exact same beams as his father was struck by: he felt the cold-hard pavement as he crashed onto the ground, reverting back to his human form due to extreme stress. As he struggled to get up, he notices the scowl etched on his uncle's face as he stared daggers at the floating orbs, all while holding an unconscious Vergil.

Powerful storms were formed as the orbs entered onto the human world, its presence would've drove Nero mad had it not for his demonic heritage existing. He watches as the orbs were suddenly enveloped by the darkness as it consumed them, before suddenly taking the form of what people would've perceived as an almighty god shrouded in the abyss.

"It has been eons since I've set foot onto these cursed grounds..." it spoke, its voice boomed like the sound of thunder: "the seal is broken, my reign shall be absolute... but first..."

Nero watches as the giant demon's gaze slowly shifted towards the sons of Sparda: several orbs about the young demon's own size suddenly materialized all around his uncle and father, before suddenly firing a barrage of needle-like projectiles condensed in demonic energy at them.

"Sparda's Legacy will not stop me this time" the large demon said, before a couple of bullets harmlessly bounced off its face: as the dust clears, the demon saw a near winded-out Dante, his guns aimed directly towards it.

"Phew! Looks like you haven't been sitting on your ass all these years, Mundus" Dante remarked, while his brother was slowly getting up.

"Mundus..." the word was like bile in Nero's throat: the infamous devil emperor once sealed for thousands of years by Sparda, now stood before them in the human world.

"After your little victory... I somehow ended up in a place... beyond the underworld..." the demon emperor began, "an ocean of darkness, where no light could penetrate..."

Suddenly rifts began to form, revealing places not from their world nor the underworld's: "my body - my existence - was beginning to break down and assimilate with the darkness" Mundus continued, "not until it showed me these: other worlds surrounded by the darkness, waiting for me to take. From there I realized, the darkness was unlike the pitch black abysses of the underworld. I was in the primordial chaos, the void that existed long before creation"

The devil emperor then caught a time bubble fired from Nero's Ragtime devil breaker, before crushing it like it was a grape: "did you not listen, child?" Mundus asked, "the void predates all: be it life, death, time, or space, it is all irrelevant to me now."

"Like I'd give a crap!" Nero exclaimed, drawing the Red Queen from his back: he then altered into his demonic form, propelling towards the demon emperor with the help of his phantom wings.

"Nero, wait!" Dante warned, but it was too late: before Nero could strike, Mundus smacked the young demon away with a backhand, sending him flying towards one of rifts.

"I was right all those years ago..." Mundus commented, before the rift Nero was in closed: "Sparda's blood has been sullied over the ages"

Before Dante could spout another witty remark, he felt something grab his shoulder: he turned to see his finally conscious, while there was rift behind him that lead to the interior of Nico's van.

"Dante..." Vergil muttered, "apologies brother..."

"Verg, what are you-" Dante was about to say, before the older twin threw him to the rift: he watched helplessly as the rift slowly became too small for him to go through, but not before he heard the parting words of his brother:

"Get strong, Dante. After that, we'll finished this"

"So eager to suffer alone?" Mundus asked, watching the whole event play out before him: "very well, I shall grant you your wish, half-blood"

"There is no time for doubt" Vergil said to himself as he drew the Yamato, throwing away its sheath to the side: "I know what must be done"

With a final stand, The Alpha and Omega charged towards the prince of darkness, just like what he did before all those years ago...

Elsewhere...

He had been falling.

Nero had lost track of time for how long he fell: he could feel the cold winds hitting his back as his limp body was descending from the sky, only to feel cold, hard cement afterwards as he finally crashed onto the earth.

Even when his consciousness was slowly fading, he could the clamoring of footsteps as it seems to be a crowd of people gathering around him. He could even hear them talking amongst themselves as if they never saw anything like him, although that could technically be true:

"What is this?"

"He looks like a human, but given his clothes, I don't think he's from around here"

"Guys, I think he's dead, he just fell from the sky!"

"No wait! I saw his hand twitching, somebody help me get him up!"

Those were the last words he heard before his consciousness finally faded to black.

AN: looks like the plot is getting deeper, what's gonna happen now?

Side note: I've actually made good explanations for the kamisato siblings or Keqing and Razor if either of the two ends up being chosen as Nero's siblings, all that's left is for the audience to help me decide.

Please... I'm begging you all, Idk which group to pick...

Other side note: never realized the whole "throw away the sheath" was an actual thing back then, now it kinda helps symbolizes things.
