[2 Days Later]

Bella looked at the white mansion that stood before her. She had the moonstone and she was here alone, like requested. Damon and Stefan both argued with her about her going in alone, but she didn't want to leave anything to chance at this point. She took a breath and then she rang the doorbell. She waited and then Klaus opened the door. His smile was dazzling as he looked at her.

"You came."

"I said I would." Bella said simply. "I know you need my blood for the spell. And you need Bonnie."

"Smart and beautiful." Klaus said and stepped to the side. "Come in, we have much to discuss." He said and Bella walked past him, her nerves a little all over the place, but she managed to keep a cool outer shell, even though she was a wreck on the inside. "Come." He said and lead her to a sitting room. Like the parlor at the boarding house, but much larger. "Take a seat." He instructed as he motioned to a chair and he walked across to a wet bar, where he poured drinks, before bringing them over. He sat across from her after handing her a glass with an amber liquid in it, that Bella assumed was a whisky of sorts.

Bella brought it to her lips and took a deep drink, before setting it down on the table in front of her on a stone coaster. "So, this spell, to break your curse. I did research for myself."

"I wouldn't expect any less." Klaus said with a grin. "Figure out what needs to be done?"

"You need this." Bella said, pulling out the moonstone from her pocket and set it on the table in front of her.

Klaus frowned leaning forward, and picked the stone up. He inspected it. "This was supposed to be the hardest part of the spell. You've done that for me. Why?" He said, looking back at her.

"I only want this town safe and the people in it." Bella said. "I'll give you my blood for your spell, to break your curse. I want peace, not war."

Klaus smiled. "Well, I appreciate your candor. So, it will be. I'll not harm anyone in this town, because I am good for my word. Although, the spell will get messy. I have to sacrifice a wolf and a vampire, which I have two volunteers, in case you were worried."

"I was worried. I have come to care about a few of the vampires in this town."

"I see." Klaus said. "Well then, little Swan. All that's left is to perform the spell. Though I have to warn you, the spell can strain your body, physically."

"I get that." Bella said. "I talked with Bonnie and Sheila Bennett. They've figured out how to keep me stable during the spell. According to Sheila, it's possible that if you are wanting to create… hybrids like yourself, then you need my blood for after as well, so in good faith, I'll donate blood before the ritual, so you can have a supply just in case… something goes wrong and I don't survive."

Klaus nodded, "You've thought of everything."

"I have. So, your word is to not destroy anything in this town or the people I love."

"That is my word little Swan. Don't go far, I'll let you know when the spell will be done. With the moonstone, I don't need a full moon to complete the spell."

Bella nodded and lifted the glass of whiskey back to her lips and she finished it. "Good. You know where to find me." She said and stood.

Klaus stood with her and walked her to the door. "Little Swan." He said simply.

Bella looked back at Klaus. "Klaus." She said with a nod and then she left. She got in her Jeep and she drove away. When she was a good distance away from the mansion, she pulled over and sucked in a breath. She was shaking now. She hadn't realized how scared she was to stand up to Klaus. To make her demands and to strike a deal with essentially the devil. But she was okay. She knew that the spell was going to be rough. That it would strain her to the point that she could die, but she had a plan for that. She wasn't ready to leave everyone just yet, so she would just ingest vampire blood before the spell took place and then if she did die, she would be able to come back. In the very least, that meant that her and Stefan could be together for eternity.

[Salvatore Boarding House]

Bella pulled up and walked inside. Damon was in the parlor, which was the normal for him. Stefan wasn't home and she wondered if he had actually went to school today. It was Monday, and Bella was skipping because of her meeting with Klaus. "It's done."

Damon looked up at her. It never failed that every time he looked at her, he felt that intense pressure on his chest that things would never be okay for him, but he was coming to terms with it now. "He has the stone?"

"He does. He said he'll let me know when it's time for the spell." Bella said. "Which brings me to the dangerous part."

Damon poured bourbon and handed it to her. "The dangerous part being where Bonnie the teenage witch, stabilizes you enough so you don't die during the spell."

"Yes." Bella said. "I want to ingest vampire blood before doing the spell. If she can't… keep me alive, I still want to be here."

Damon frowned. "Bella, that's a terrible idea."

"It's not, Damon, I'm okay with eternity. I don't believe that you and Stefan are soulless. I love Stefan, I want to be by his side forever and if I'm a vampire, it won't be so hard for him with his blood lust." She reasoned.

"Sounds like that's what you want to happen." Damon said. "You've got it all figured out." He muttered and then downed his bourbon quickly.

Bella nodded. "Yes, I do. I need to do this Damon. Klaus gave his word that no one would get hurt. That this town would stay safe and everyone in it. That's worth it to me."

Damon shook his head. "That's bullshit and you know it." He said, his tone angrier than he intended.

Bella was taken back by Damon's sudden anger. "Damon…" she murmured.

Damon walked out of the room, leaving her bewildered. He went upstairs to his own room and decided to drink in private now. He poured himself more bourbon from his private stash and sat in the silence of his room just thinking about what would happen if Bella died and became a vampire. It meant that she would get her memories back from the compulsion he had used and he didn't want that to happen. He heard Stefan pull up outside, so now Stefan could handle Bella. Maybe talk sense into her.

"Absolutely not." Stefan said, looking at Bella. "That isn't something I'm willing to bet on. Bella, this life… is hard, I don't want you to be forced into this."

"I wouldn't be forced. Don't you get it? I love you, being with you forever wouldn't be so bad."

Stefan closed his eyes. He knew why she was like this. Damon's compulsion made her this way. If it wasn't for that, then he was sure she wouldn't be willing to risk being a vampire. "Just… think really hard about this. Bonnie isn't going to let anything happen to you."

"But if something does… I'm not ready to die Stefan." Bella said, her tone slightly pitiful.

Stefan looked at her. "You shouldn't want to do these things for someone else. You have to do things for yourself."

"I do." She said, her eyes softening. "Stefan… please. Don't fight me on this."

Stefan swallowed and then nodded. He was still on the fence about it, but he would agree for now. He didn't want to upset her further. "Okay." He murmured,

Bella smiled and then went to him and kissed him. She pulled back then looked up into his green eyes, and something flashed in her mind. It made her falter a little, but she just shrugged it off. "Alright. Well, I'm going to work for now." She said. "I'll see you later tonight." She promised and then she was gone.

Stefan watched her leave the boarding house and then went to the parlor to pour himself a drink. He felt like his drinking was starting to turn into Damon level drinking. He downed the bourbon quickly before pouring himself more, before Damon walked in. "Don't start." He said immediately.

"You didn't convince her." Damon said, his tone neutral.

"Well, she has her own mind, though I would say if you hadn't compelled her back in Georgia, she wouldn't be acting like this. She's not herself and the I love you's and attempted sex, just… makes me want to hit something." He muttered.

Damon poured himself a drink. "I had to do it."

"You didn't. You messed with her mind, Damon. She's dead set on taking vampire blood before the spell, which is in two days, by the way. You need to come clean. Reverse the compulsion, ride off into the sunset together." Stefan was bitter. He was bitter about his brother being so damn moral and right when he felt like he needed him most, he was trying to commit suicide to justify compelling Bella and ending himself to avoid any fallout or pain.

"I told you what I'm going to do."

"Yeah, be a coward." Stefan said, his eyes glaring at his brother sharp. "You say you're protecting me, but really you're just running away from love Damon. That doesn't do anyone any favors. You're important and losing you would be detrimental to a lot of people."

Damon shook his head. "It's not me being a coward, Stefan. Me staying means I'm not going to be strong enough to see her with you, and not want to ruin you. You're my brother. We spent the better part of a century, hating each other for things that really weren't our fault."

"Me forcing you to transition was my fucking fault." Stefan said. "Don't be the hero Damon, it doesn't suit you."

Damon shook his head. "You don't understand."

"I do understand." Stefan said, his words sharp. "I want you to stay my brother. If that means giving up Bella, then I will."

Damon stared at his brother, shocked by the words that came out of his mouth. "You can't be serious."

"Dead serious." Stefan said, his expression even. "I love her. Yes, but I also love you. I'm not going to let a woman come between us again, not after everything. You have your humanity and I have my brother. That's all I ever wanted. To make up for my wrongdoings, and to be a family."

Damon was quiet as he stared at the dark liquid in his glass. For once, Damon Salvatore was speechless.

[Two Days Later]

Bella sat in her car in the school parking lot. She felt strange the last couple days. When she saw Stefan and Damon, flashes were going through her head, of experiences that she felt were like a dream. Feelings that emerged that she was confused about. But now she had a better idea of what happened. Stefan's behavior had been odd and so was Damon's. It started after she got back from Georgia with Damon. He compelled her for some reason. It was the only logical thing and a reason for why she suddenly felt so crazy. She wanted to be angry, and maybe she was a bit angry that Damon would do such a thing, but he had to have a good reason or that was her being rational. She sighed as started the Jeep and left the parking lot. Stefan was at football practice anyways. The spell was happening tonight, and she wanted things to just continue like normal. She had to go home first, before she agreed to go to Klaus's mansion to donate blood before the spell.

She drove like she was going to her house, but then she had to satisfy her curiosity now. She changed direction to the boarding house. When she got there, Damon's car was there, but that didn't mean anything. Vampires didn't need to use vehicles. She blew out a breath and then got out of her Jeep and walked up to the front door. She opened it, walking inside, like she had done so many times before and she went straight to the parlor. Damon was there, as usual, and he looked up at her when she came in. She didn't give him time to do or say anything. She walked straight up to him and kissed him, hard, forcing his lips to part in shock before she swept her tongue in against his. Her hands clutched at the front of his shirt, as a flooding of emotion ran through her and flashes of memories from Georgia that she didn't know were there.

She pulled at his shirt now, pausing to pull it over his head and his reactions were automatic, pulling at her clothing as well, his brain seemingly misfiring in every direction, before she pressed against him, letting emotion consume her now. His hands unsnapped her bra, letting it fall to the floor, while his mouth moved to her throat, kissing her there and she moaned, the sensation coming to her, the way his fangs pierced her throat and he drank from her.

"Damon!" She moaned, his lips searing her skin. She wanted so badly for him to just do it, to take her to a blissful place.

Damon's gums itched to release his fangs into her throat, and he did. The immediate flow of her blood to his mouth was satisfying on so many levels. She tasted sweet, never like anything he ever tasted before, but he took a little, pulling his mouth back from her throat to gaze into her eyes. They were glossy with passion and he could see that his compulsion had broken, somehow it did and he didn't know how. "Bella…"he murmured, reaching up and brushing a hand gently over her cheek.

"You compelled me." She murmured, looking up into his icy eyes.

"I did." Damon said, his voice nearly a whisper now. "I'm sorry."

"Take me upstairs." Bella murmured.

Damon shook his head. "I can't… I've already ruined too much. Stefan will be home and we have to deal with Klaus… I can't do this Bella."

"Damon… you took away my choice. My choice of being with you. You can't take this from me again."

"You shouldn't be with a villain like me."

"You're not the villain."

"I am."

Bella shook her head, tears breaching. "I love you Damon. I… I love you. If that's wrong, then so be it, but I'm not going to wait around another day, with these foggy memories and forced feelings for your brother, when my heart belongs to you."

Damon was quiet a moment. "Let's… talk later. Please. I don't have the strength right now."

Bella swallowed. "You promise?"

"I promise." He murmured, and leaned in and kissed her softly before he pricked his finger with his fang and rubbed it over the marks on her neck to close them up.

Bella nodded and she bent to retrieve her bra and shirt, pulling them on with Damon's help before he pulled his shirt on. She looked at him. "I want to be angry with you so much for what you did."

"You should hate me."

Bella wiped at her face, to stop more tears. "I need your blood for tonight."

"No."

"It wasn't a request Damon. I'm telling you I need it because I don't want to die and lose everyone and everything."

Damon swallowed and nodded. "Fine."

Bella looked up at him, leaning against him to press her lips to his again. "Don't disappear from in front of me. Okay?"

Damon kissed her again softly. "I won't." He said and then he watched her leave. He closed his eyes, trying to contain his emotions now. She loved him, he knew that when he compelled her. He wanted to take her, wanted to cherish her and everything she was. Could he be the brother he needed to be and love Bella at the same time? He didn't know, so he poured himself another drink.
