@Dark Vaporeon 23

Glad you're enjoying the dynamic of these two. As for Ash's and Brendan's teams, I already have their final teams planned out, but you did name all the remaining members of Ash's team. You'll just have to see which ones they are.

"Okay Ashton, what's the plan for training?" Brendan asked.

"I saw two major issues with the fight yesterday, outside of you arrogance at least." Ash commented. "The first was your plan to use Taillow as a distanced attacker, from what I can tell, she is mainly a close range fighter."

"Yeah, that wasn't my best idea." Brendan admitted. "What's the second thing?"

"Send out Seedot real quick." Ash said.

"Okay, but why?" Brendan asked, grabbing Seedot's Pokeball.

"I want to see if I was just seeing things, or if what I think happened, really did happen." Ash said.

"Alright, come on out Seedot." Brendan said.

Seedot landed on the sandy beach, struggling to stay upright in the loose sand.

"Just as I thought, take a look." Ash said, motioning Brendan over.

"What is that?" Brendan asked, seeing a yellow substance on Seedot's back.

"During your fight yesterday, there was a cracking sound, and if I had to guess, it came from Seedot, and that's his way of healing it." Ash commented.

"What do we do? I don't know how to fix his shell?!" Brendan said.

"Panicking will do you no good, for now we should bring him back to Nurse Joy, and see if she knows anything." Ash said.

"Can you do that while I call my dad? Maybe he has an answer too." Brendan said.

"It can't hurt." Ash commented, picking up Seedot.

A bit later at the Pokemon Center

"So what did Nurse Joy have to say?" Brendan asked.

"The wound is healing itself naturally as if Seedot was in the wild, should be good in a few days." Ash commented. "How about your dad?"

"HIs theory is that Seedot is preparing to break out of it's shell, and evolve." Brendan said. "He said he's on his way here to see for himself."

"Okay, so let's not work on Seedot right now." Ash said. "How about we work on Mudkip or Taillow?"

"I thought you didn't have a problem with Mudkip." Brendan said.

"Doesn't mean he can't use training." Ash commented.

"Alright, let's work on getting Mudkip's power up." Brendan said. "We are on an island after all."

At a beachside area.

"Okay, Treecko will be your sparring partner for this." Ash said, as Treecko did some stretches.

"Okay Mudkip, let's start off with a Water Gun!"

"Treecko dodge it and use Pound!"

Treecko leapt into the air high above the water, before spinning, sending his tail crashing down on Mudkip.

"You have to remember fighting types are going to move around, it won't be like Roxanne's rock type Pokemon." Ash said.

"Mudkip use Mud Slap!"

Being stuck right next to the water, Mudkip flipped a large amount of wet sand into Treecko's eyes causing the grass type to stumble back.

"Good, use your surroundings to your advantage." Ash remarked.

"Now Mudkip use Tackle!"

Mudkip charged forward as Treecko began to rely on it's other senses to tell where his opponent was coming from. Just as Mudkip was about to his Treecko, the grass type dove underground at an incredible speed.

"Wait, I thought this was a training session for us?" Brendan said in confusion.

"Bring that up with Treecko, besides, you just have to learn to adapt." Ash said.

"Adapt, but how…". Brendan wondered, looking around. "Mudkip get into the water!"

Both trainers were waiting for the other to make the next move, with Mudkip in the waves, and Treecko beneath the sand, it was either trainer's game.

"Mudkip use Water Gun and fill the hole!"

Mudkip began spraying water at the hole Treecko had dug, hoping to make the grass type surface with no other option.

"Tree Treecko." Treecko taunted, from a rock a few feet into the water.

"Honestly at this point I have no idea." Ash admitted, wondering how his Pokemon had managed such a feat.

"Mudkip use Tackle!"

"Treecko use Pound!"

Treecko leapt off the rock, then slammed his tail on Mudkip giving him another leap onto dry land with ease.

"Mudkip use Water Gun!"

"Treecko use Quick Attack and dodge it!"

Treecko sped out of the way of the burst of water, but was unable to close the large watery gap between him and Mudkip.

"Mudkip use Tackle!"

"Treecko use Dig!"

Treecko buried himself in the sand as Mudkip took a nose dive into the beach.

"Now Treecko!"

Treecko leapt out from beneath the sand, spinning his tail into Mudkip's side sending the water type tumbling.

"Okay, I think we can call it here." Ash said.

"But, we still haven't learned anything!" Brendan argued.

"You learned how to fight like a water type, and that is big." Ash said.

"What, use the water to our advantage? In case you didn't notice, Brawly's gym had no water!" Brendan shouted, only to get flicked on the forehead. "Ow! What was that for?"

"Every official Pokemon League gym has to provide a pool big enough for a Mantine to be able to sit in. Most have that built into their gyms automatically, all you have to do is ask for one. While Mudkip doesn't need water, it might give you an advantage depending on it's size." Ash said.

"So why'd you flick me? I was never told that." Brendan pointed out.

"You didn't listen to me earlier, and you're barely listening to me now. You asked me to help you, not the other way around." Ash reminded. "Try and not forget that next time."

"Right, right." Brendan said, shaking his head.
