"So what are we doing heading all the way out here today?" Brendan asked.

"Well, I asked around and found that there's a decently sized cave on the northern part of the island." Ash said calmly. "That and apparently this region's champion visits here regularly."

"So, we're looking for the champion?" Brendan asked.

"No, we're looking for close range and small area fights for Taillow to get used to." Ash pointed out.

"Oh, yeah. That makes sense." Brendan said, mentally slapping himself from stupidity. "But why not just train with Treecko like I did for Mudkip?"

"Having different training scenarios can prepare you for different things. If all you did was train against Treecko, eventually you'd figure out how to win, but you'd only really know how to fight Treecko." Ash commented.

"Hello there, are either of you trainers?" A man in hiking gear asked.

"Him, right here." Ash said.

"Great, how about a battle." The man said.

"Sure, I was looking for some training anyways." Brendan said. "Taillow I choose you!"

"Come on out Aron!"

Ash remembered this Pokemon from Brendan's fight against Roxanne, and while Taillow did need training, he wasn't sure this was a good idea.

"Taillow use Focus Energy!"

"Aron use Metal Claw!"

Taillow swooped down and then back up, high into the air, evading the attack as every muscle became stiff in her body.

"Now Taillow use Peck!"

"Aron use Headbutt!"

Taillow struck her beak against Aron's hard head, the rock type bouncing her back with ease.

"Taillow use Quick Attack!"

"Aron use Rock Tomb!"

Taillow stayed low to the ground, giving herself time to avoid the falling boulders before sweeping Aron of off its feet.

"Taillow use Peck!"

"Aron, Iron Defense!"

Aron's body shimmered as it lay prone on its back before Taillow struck it, dealing minimal damage.

"Aron use Rock Tomb and end this!"

Aron flipped back onto his feet launching an attack at the slightly dazed Taillow, soon pinning it to the ground in defeat.

"That was a great battle, thanks for the fun." The man said.

"Yeah, you to." Brendan commented

"Hey Brendan, it's okay, we'll go to the cave another day." Ash said.

"No, we heal up Taillow, and get back to it. Can I see your Pokédex?" Brendan said, while returning Taillow.

"Sure, but doesn't yours have the same information?" Ash asked.

"You we're able to scan Aron, so I should be able to see… yes!" Brendan exclaimed excitedly.

"What?" Ash asked, trying to find out what had Brendan so excited.

"Wild Aron can be found in that cave!" Brendan said.

"So your plan is to fight more of the thing that just mopped the floor with Taillow?" Ash asked.

"Nope, my plan is to catch one." Brendan said with a wild smirk.

One round trip to the Pokemon Center later

"Alright let's do this!" Brendan said.

"You do realize there's no guarantee we'll even find one." Ash commented.

"It's in the deeper levels, the further down we go, the better." Brendan said.

"Well, I guess we're going spelunking." Ash said.

Inside the deepest level of the cave

"Okay, so let's get looking." Brendan said, pulling out a headlamp.

"Why did I agree to this?" Ash sighed, taking a headlamp.

After a bit of searching, it was clear that there were no Arons in the area.

"I don't get it, I was told go deep into the cave to find Arons." Brendan said, clearly frustrated.

"Well, maybe we aren't as far in as we can go." Ash pointed out.

"No, no I'm sure of it, this is the lowest point of the cave." Brendan said.

"Maybe, maybe not." Ash said thinking. "What if there are deeper parts of the cave that we have to go up to get to."

"That doesn't make any sense." Brendan reasoned. "Why would we go up, to go down?"

"I'm not saying it makes sense, I'm just saying its a possibility." Ash argued.

"GRON!". A roar echoed all around.

"Hey Ash, tell me that was your stomach." Brendan said, worridley.

"Nope." Ash said, seeing a large Pokemon charging at them. "Pikachu use Thunderbolt!"

Pikachu sent out a bolt of electricity at the rampaging Pokemon who seemed mostly unaffected as the trainers dodged out of the way of it.

"Any idea what that is, or why its attacking?" Ash asked.

"Hold on." Brendan said, pulling out his Pokédex.

'Aggron, the Iron Armor Pokemon, and fully evolved form of Aron. Its iron horns grow longer a little at a time. They are used to determine the Aggron's age. The gouges in its armor are worn with pride as mementos from battles.

"Evolved form Aron huh. Well then Mudkip come on out and use Mud Slap!" Brendan said.

Mudkip leapt at Aggron, splattering mud all over its face.

"Pikachu use Thunder!"

Pikachu gathered all of the electricity it could, before unleashing it onto the Aggron.

"Alright now, Pokeball go!" Brendan said, much to Ash's surprise.

The Pokeball hit Aggron, encasing it in a strange blue light before the ball was shattered.

"Why didn't that work?" Brendan asked.

"Aggron return." A new voice said, as a red light encased Aggron before it shrunk back into a Pokeball.

"Probably because its owned." Ash commented.

"Sorry about that, I didn't think Aggron would go crazy like that during a training session." The man said, walking up to the two. "He didn't hurt either of you, did he?"

"Nope, we're all good." Brendan said.

"Hmm, seems like you two did a number to him though." The man said. "What's your names?"

"I'm Brendan, and this is Ashton." Brendan said.

"Well, my name is Steven, I'll be keeping an eye on you two, you both show potential.

"Thanks, you know we actually came here for me to catch an Aron of my own." Brendan said.

"Oh. You won't find one here, you'll need to go up that stairwell over there, and then find another one going down, that's where they all are." Steven said.

"I knew it!" Ash gloated.

"Thanks Steven." Brendan said.

"Any time." Steven said. "Be careful you two."

"We will." Ash assured.

Later on in the deeper part of the cave

"Alright, Taillow use Quick Attack!"

Taillow sped at the wild Aron, catching it off guard and striking it hard. The Aron angrily leapt at Taillow who moved out of the way in time before she was hit.

"Taillow use Peck!"

Taillow dove down at the Aron again, whose body seemed to shine for a moment before Taillow hit it.

"Use Quick Attack!"

Taillow swooped down, but this time instead of keeping her wings closed, they were wide open, one swept Aron off of it's feet as it landed on it's back.

"Was that a new move?" Brendan asked out loud.

"Looked like a Wing Attack to me." Ash commented.

"Alright, Taillow use Wing Attack one more time!"

Taillow struck the Aron once again, sending the rock and steel type spinning.

"Now, Pokeball go!" Brendan said, as the Pokeball shook three times giving a green ding at the end. "Alright, we just caught an Aron!"
