Peter was sitting on his bed, it being the weekend he started to just sit there on his bed and take in his surroundings. Everything felt off. Everything was right. But everything still sounded wrong.
He felt something tingle up the back of his head and he looked to see a spider was crawling around on his desk. That's when he started to feel something and reached behind him and noticed there was something attached to his neck.
Pulling it free, he flinched from the pain as he brought it up and revealed it to be a spider. That's when the wind blew the shades on his window, causing him to flinch and jump before getting ready to attack.
Getting up, he walked over to his computer, stepping on a paper that got stuck to his foot. Ignoring it, he decided to google everything that he could on the spider that bit him. Anything leading to Mercury Labs, Otto Octavius experiments.
That was...until his fingers started to stick to the keyboard and took the keys with them.
Okay, looks like he was on his own for this one.
"Being a person with power doesn't change who you are, it just manages to somehow bring out the best parts of yourself." The Watcher motioned as he watched the young boys journey from boy to hero. "He's becoming the man he was always meant to be. He is becoming...something greater."
Taking a video camera with him, Peter sneaked out and told May that he had some project to work on. Now, she figured he was referring to some sort of school project, but he was referring to testing his powers.
"Okay," Peter whispered as he found an abandoned area with nobody around. He places the camera down and went through the scientific principle to figure out what was happening to him. "I guess I should start from the beginning. My name is Peter Parker, and for the last two days, I've learned I have gained the powers of the spider. Presumably given to me by those experimental spiders I saw in Mercury Labs. I have a weird sensation in my head, the stickiness of a spider. I wonder..." He then looked over to a brick wall of the building. "This is gonna hurt if I'm wrong."
Peter then went in running and smashed through the wall, but then tripped over his foot. As he slipped, he caught himself on a shelf. That's when he felt the senses going off again and saw sharp pipes coming from the ceiling. Quickly avoiding it, he started to think he understood how his senses worked.
"So, it seems as if this sense of mine alerts me of danger, I have the strength of a spider, and possibly more." Peter then looked and wondered just how far his powers can do.
Going out of the building he finds a skateboard-like ramp in the middle of it all. Testing his theory, he ran up the side and almost slipped when he grabbed onto the side of the ramp and stayed there.
"Okay, I need something steeper," Peter whispered, seeing this could just be cold.
Running up to the side of the building, he leaped into the air and grabbed onto the side of it. He then immediately started to stick to the side. Testing this out further, he climbed up the construction equipment and somehow made it to the ceiling.
Seeing metal chains were hanging from the ceiling, Peter decided to try and get down using it. That only ended with him grabbing onto the chain and swinging through the warehouse, holding on for dear life in the meantime he was swinging through the facility using the chains.
Once he landed on the ground, Peter had never felt so alive. He felt...powerful.
Looking down at his fist, he squeezed his hand and the words of his uncle raging through his head.
"With great power, there must always come great responsibility."
Maybe there was a reason he was given these powers. He didn't have the power to save his uncle...but maybe he could save others.
With great power comes great responsibility.
Those words echoed Peter's head as he went back home and went through the normal motions as he normally would like nothing had changed. But when night struck, Peter decided to try and see if he actually could do some good with this gift of his.
To see if he was actually given these powers for a reason.
As night dawned, Peter took an old hoodie of his, putting a scarf over his mouth and a pair of sunglasses. He started to use the rooftops to run across and hacked into the police radio using his phone.
Hearing of a disturbance downtown, he figured that would be a good place to start as any. Running and jumping around the roofs even helped pass the time by giving him a feel of how his powers worked and how far they can go.
Once he arrived at the area of the disturbance, he started to feel something off. His 'spider-senses' as he has decided to nickname his power, started to go off and he looked around to find any disturbance.
That's when he heard a woman's scream and raced off to see where it came from. When he saw it was with a man pushing some defenseless girl against the wall, he leaped down and got between them.
"Hey!" Peter cried out to him. "Why don't you pick on someone your...my size!"
"Kid, just keep on walking." The man said, gesturing to the street. "Keep walking."
"Sorry. Not happening." Peter stated as he walked up, and he pulled a gun on him.
Peter wasn't fazed as he moved out of the way of its direction and punched him in the face. But that left him open to being punched in the stomach, knocking the air out of him.
That's when even more of them started to show up and Peter tried to fight them all off, this not being what he was expecting. The girl took this opportunity to run as one of them grabbed ahold of Peter and even ripped his sleeves and scarf off.
That left his facade out of the open, and Peter quickly ran off down the alley as they all chased him. Peter ran and leaped onto the side of the building and started to race up the fire escape. As they ran to catch up, Peter crawled up the side of the building to escape and saw this was a mistake.
Seeing a giant gap between the next two buildings, Peter ran as fast as he could, praying he lived to regret this, and leaped into the air. As soon as the attackers caught up, they saw he was already on the other side of the building.
Trying to escape, Peter ran off just as the roof gave way with him on top and he fell into the abandoned building. Groaning, he looked around to see that he landed in some sort of old wrestling stage with seats and the stage is what he landed on.
"I know what you look like!" One of them screamed. "I've seen your face!"
Peter then remembered he needed a better alternative to his scarf and hood idea and finally remembered his ripped sleeves on his red hoodie. Sighing, he knew he needed to come up with an excuse on that for May.
But then he looked up to one of the pillars for a wrestler and saw his mask and got an idea. If he had these powers, maybe he could be someone with them. Someone better than Batman and the Vigilante in Starling City.
In school, as the teacher went on about something Peter already knew about, Peter was drawing the mask he saw in the wrestling match in his sketchbook.
As he did, someone overheard his scribbling and Gwen Stacy looked over and saw he wasn't writing like the rest and was indeed scribbling something down.
But she decided to leave it to be as it has nothing to do with her.
When he got back home, Peter started to work on the mask. He created it using a red ski mask and had the eyes sewn in, so he'd be able to keep the light out.
Then he looked up and noticed the web of the spider from earlier and started to look into the thoughts of spiders webbing.
Is there a way that he can reverse-engineer them?
Using some of the labs' chemicals he was able to sneak out. The first time he's breaking a rule in school, it's to steal chemicals from the labs.
He started to mix the chemicals to see if he can recreate the webbing. As he did so, he mixed the chemicals to see if he was able to accomplish it.
He lifts the mixer out of the chemicals and saw he had successfully created web fluid. He then noticed the canister it was in start to size and spill everywhere, followed by it exploding and covering him in webbing.
Sighing, Peter realizes he needed to create a device to try and contain it before that happens next time. Seems as soon as it comes into contact with air, it will explode and expand.
Taking a few of the old watches he was planning on throwing away due to them stopping working, Peter started to create devices that were capable of holding the cartages he created to hold the chemicals. He then attached the container to the end of the web-shooters, as he has called it, and was ready to see if they worked.
Trying out the first watch, he tapped the top of the watch, only for it to spark and shock him. Jumping back in pain, he jumped around for a good moment as it seems his nerves are still able to be shocked like normally.
After a few enhancements, he went in for a second attempt. As he had a rubber glove to protect himself this time, he tapped the button. But instead of shocking him, the device exploded, sending the webbing everywhere.
A few more enhancements a day later, he had a face mask to cover his head, rubber gloves for his hands, and a catcher's vest on. Just for good measure.
He then tapped the button again; this time the webbing fired out of the correct location and shot a strand of webbing and hits the wall.
Peter looked amazed at what he had accomplished and silently cheered.
The next day, Peter went to the business district of the city and looked down at the height of the building. Sighing, he started to Rey and build up the courage to do this. He knew that theoretically; his powers should protect him if this didn't work out.
Sighing and taking a deep breath, Peter walked and ran off the edge of the building and took a leap of faith.
He fell off the building and cried into the air as he free-fell for a moment before shooting a web out to the side of the building. Once he did, he was immediately swinging across the street and landed on a few tables outside of a building.
Peter smiled and saw that he had accomplished most of everything. He had the mask, he had the gadgets, the only thing left was to prove what he can do for the world.
That night, Peter stood on the outside of the tallest building he could find and waited for something to happen.
The moment his scanner went off and gave him a location of a crime, he ran off to stop it. When he arrived at the scene, he saw a man running for his life as cops were chasing him.
Shooting webs on his back, causing him to whiplash back and fall, the officers reached him and revealed to be Yuri and Eddie who were chasing him.
They saw the webbing and looked up to see Peter standing on top of a light and ran up the side of the wall before they could react to him.
"Who the hell was that?" Eddie asked.
"I have no idea," Yuri replied.
As a few days passed, many of the other cops started to have similar run-ins with this masked hero webbing criminals.
"You got a description?" Captain George Stacy asked as he walked out of the prescient.
"Well, no, he wears a mask." The officer told him.
"A mask?" George repeated, wanting to be sure he heard it right.
"Most of his victims are suspects with rap sheets. They're calling him a vigilante."
"Okay, look, he's not a vigilante," George stated. "He's an anarchist."
That's when they heard screams and looked to see someone being lowered down on webbing to reveal a man who's escaped their grasp for years.
Herman Schultz.
He even had a piece of paper on his chest spelling out who he was, and it had a doodle of a spider on it.
"Help me! Somebody! Arrest me!" Herman pleaded with the cops.
The people seeing the prescient then spotted the masked hero swinging past the building and running up the side of the walls. Some were even taking videos and photos of the masked hero as George watched him swing away in annoyance.
When Peter got back home, he took out a notebook and started to go through the ideas of perfecting a real suit instead of a mask.
Something to help him stand out like the Arrow or Batman.
Something distinctive.
Something to scream...whatever he goes by.
Utility belt? Possibly something to look into. He could use it to fit extra web cartages inside if he needed it.
Suit design? Something that could relate to the spider. Looking at the design on it, he noticed it was red and blue with a lot of blacks.
That gave him a few ideas of what to design it after and started to scribble some designs in.
The first suit that came to mind was primarily black with blue highlights. The webbing on the suit's head, collar, and leg sections are all colored red. The back of the suit includes a large blue spider symbol with legs that extend to the edges of the front torso section. The chest insignia is also colored blue.
But then he saw that was a bit too dark and reminded him of Batman.
He then drew a new one that follows a blue and red color scheme. The body, head, outer arms, upper hip, and knee-high boots are red while the inner arms, upper legs, and outer torso are matt blue. The colors are in a bright tone, especially among the red coloring. The eye lenses are black on the outline and white in the middle. They are also wide. The spider insignia is small, fist-sized, and centered just above the chest. The web-shooters are located in the wrists. The boots are also slightly below the knee, with black outlining covering them and the feet. The black outlining in particular resembles a spider's web, especially on the mask area and the torso. These outlines split the suit into rectangle segments, which are especially visible on the torso area, neck, and shoulders.
But that was too much, and he knew he didn't have the resources for this type of suit and knew he needed to keep it simpler.
Working on it all week, trying to figure out how he wants to look, he even overheard a lot of people in school talking about him.
Talking about how he's been taking down the crime rate in this city solo. Talking about how he's been inspiring them.
This only proved to him he was doing the right thing. He was doing the right thing.
After days of working on the suit, he ran across the rooftops, crawling up and down the sides of buildings before leaping and shooting a web to swing and land on the side of a building.
He then crawled to the roof and stood in the light, his suit showing itself to the city.
It consists primarily of a red sleeveless hoodie with a small black spider emblem at its center, a blue sweatsuit underneath, a pair of fingerless black and red gloves, red boots, and the same red ski mask, only this time with goggles on the eyes.
Lookout, Central City here comes...
Still working on the name.
