Back with Connors, he had snuck out of the sewer through the train station with a giant duffel bag over his shoulder. He started to make his way out when suddenly a SWAT team came out of their positions and were beginning to shoot him. The lizard was hit a dozen times until falling to the ground and the SWAT approached thinking that they finished the job.
But as they approached, the healing started to take effect and Connors tosses a canister of the gas that exploded and started to transform the entire SWAT team into lizard people.
While Peter was dealing with a life-or-death situation, May decided to go and have a talk with the one person that could have the information he was looking for. If he was right, he deserves to know the truth.
Going through security was a hassle enough as it was. If it weren't all for Peter, she wouldn't be putting up with all of this. She looked through the glass and saw a familiar face as she took a seat. While working a part-time job at FEAST, she also works part-time at the hospital when they need her and was assigned to a certain doctor.
Henry Allen.
Henry walked over and sat down across from the woman and was eyeing her. Seems he was taking a moment to look her over before he smiled. "Maybelle Reilly."
May chuckled, that not being a name that she heard in a long time. "Wow. Long time since I've been called that."
"How have you been?" Henry asked, interested in his old colleague.
"Well, working a part-time job at the hospital now. Thanks to you." May said with a chuckle. "Working second part time at a homeless shelter to support family." She then looked at him in sorrow. "I'm sorry you're in here."
"You didn't put me in here," Henry assured her.
"I never believed that you killed her," May informed him. "Never for a moment."
"That's reassuring, but something tells me that you didn't stop by just to tell me that," Henry said and could somehow see through her. "What's changed?"
"Something had come to my attention recently, and I was thinking you could help me," May said, knowing he was the best person to ask as it should have been brought to his attention at least once. "Your son, Peter. Do you know who adopted him?"
"A guy on the force," Henry said as he thought back to his youngest son. "Name was Ben, he said that he had a younger brother who was trying to have a kid."
May couldn't help but chuckle at Peter's brilliance. It surprised her sometimes just how smart he is. "Oh, my god I can't believe it. He was right."
"Sorry?" Henry asked, not understanding what she was saying.
May smiled and looked up to Henry. "Your son...Peter...he's my nephew."
Henry was shocked at that and May pulled a few photos she brought with her to show him. It took some time for Henry to believe it but then watched as the photos started with a few baby photos of Peter and showed him growing up. Finally, Henry started to believe that what May was saying was true.
"Oh god..." Henry muttered as he looked at the photos of his son. "How is he?"
"Been looking for you recently," May admitted. "He's been looking for who could be his family."
Henry was shocked and amazed that his son was able to put the pieces back together himself. "What's he like?" He was already interested in hearing more about his son.
May chuckled and knew she needed to bring Peter to meet him. "You will meet him soon enough." She then smiled as she thought of him. "He's a sweet, brilliant boy. Kind and always thinking of others first."
Back with Peter, he smacked a manhole cover off the top of a sewer entrance and crawled out, almost getting hit by a car, causing him to cry in terror.
"Hey! Watch it!" Peter cried as he climbed out of the sewer and webbed the cover back before running off the street and pulling his phone out. "Pick up. Pick up..."
In STAR Labs, Bobby was able to get in thanks to one of Caitlin's passes he found in her place that he found while getting settled in at his dresser.
"Come on, this way," Gwen said as she led Bobby, who had never been here before, to the area where she saw Connors' labs during the tour.
When they got to the labs that once birthed the monster they were trying to stop, they got to work cooking the antidote that Peter told them.
"Okay, let's hurry up and get this done," Bobby said, not liking the idea of sticking around here.
They then got another call from Peter and quickly answered.
Peter reached the sidewalk and jumped onto the side of a building while taking the call.
"Hey, where are you guys?" Peter asked as he raced across the roofs.
"We're at STAR Labs," Gwen informed him.
"No, no, you have to get out of there, right now!" Peter told them.
"The antidote is cooking," Gwen informed him as they saw it was gonna take five minutes to make.
"No, no!" Peter cried into the phone. "Connors is on his way there right now! He's going to use the dispersement device to affect the whole city."
"There are still four minutes left," Gwen informed him.
"You're gonna wait there for three minutes after being informed a giant lizard is coming for you?" Peter asked them.
"I don't wanna wait," Bobby said in fear as he looked down the hallway for Connors and realized the device he needs is in the labs.
Gwen then realized they still had a few people in the building. "Bobby, go get everyone out."
"Who the hell's here?" Bobby asked, knowing his cousin is gone.
"Go find out," Gwen said. "Then get out of here."
"Don't need to tell me twice," Bobby said before he started to leave and immediately turned back. "What about you?"
"Come for me last, get them first," Gwen tells him and waits for the antidote.
Back with Peter, he was swinging through the city when one of the officers noticed him.
"He's heading south." He reported to Captain Stacy who was flying a helicopter across the city to hunt him down.
Peter raced through the streets as fast as he could run, taking every shortcut that he knew about to get there faster. As he was racing to save his friends and the entire city, the chopper was following him.
"Stand down now, or we will open fire," George warned Peter as several snipers came out on the roofs and tried to shoot him with tasers.
But luckily due to their poor aim and Peter's senses, he was able to dodge them all as he turned a corner. But they turned into a mistake as there was a blinding spotlight from the helicopter followed by him being shot by a taser.
Peter instinctively lets go of his web and falls from the sky to crash into the car that was below him and knocked unconscious. The police then surround him and see he's unconscious before cuffing him.
George, proud of himself, for his capture, walked up to the masked assailant and ripped his mask off. But that was able to wake Peter up as he then kept his head down. Snapping free from the cuffs, he spun and tripped George before shooting a web at one of the officers and kneeing them into the car he fell onto.
When he landed on the hood, he shot two webs onto the other officers and took them down, making sure none of them have the chance to see his face. After taking down the final officer, George got back up and held a gun to his back.
"Freeze!" George demanded him. "Down on the ground, hands behind your head. Now!" Peter then turned to face him just as the spotlight shined on him, causing George to lower his gun in shock. "Parker?"
Peter saw there was nothing he could do now that he sees his face, so maybe he could convince him to let him go. "It's heading for STAR Labs! And Gwen is there right now."
George looked over to STAR Labs and saw it was still on the other side of the city, meaning there was no way his men were gonna get there in time.
"You have to let me stop him," Peter asked of George as he went to pick his mask back up. "Please."
George sighed and knew it was for the best and lets Peter put his mask on and let him go to save them. But just then, one of the officers that Peter hit got back up.
"Hold your fire!" George said, but it was too late as Peter was shot in the leg.
Peter dropped to the roof and cried in pain as he saw the shot go through his leg and started to bleed out.
Back in STAR Labs, Harrison Wells was the only one in the building, but he was inside his Time Vault of his before the alarms went off. The lizard had crashed through the front doors and had already made his way inside.
Bobby raced back as he saw nobody was in the building and quickly used his powers to freeze over the doorway.
"We're dead! We are so dead!" Bobby cried in fear.
Gwen then ran over and dragged Bobby along, holding the Ganali device. By the time Connors made it to the doors and smashed through the ice, the two of them were long gone.
In reality, the two of them were hiding inside the air vents and waiting for him to leave. As they sat there, Bobby was starting to freeze over due to the fear and that gave Connors the opening.
The lizard came in and sees them in the vents, causing them to scream in fear. Connors ripped the opening and Bobby shot pit ice to stop him from touching them. But that's when he grabbed the dispersement device and took off.
The two panted in fear until the computer went off.
"Antidote complete."
Back with Peter, he tried to make it to STAR Labs, but this injury in his leg was holding him down. Dropping down on a rooftop he sewers he recognized, he dropped in pain and agony.
"Oh, my god." Someone said, earning a look from Peter as he noticed May and realized he was on top of FEAST. After talking to Henry, there was panic across the city and she raced to help, getting supplies when she heard the thump on the roof. "It's you." She then looked down and noticed the bleeding. "You're hurt. Let me help."
Peter nodded his head, knowing May wouldn't try anything. Even without knowing who he is.
Back in STAR Labs, Lizard stole the device and made it to the rooftop, and planted the Ganali device down. The device then started to warm up as he placed the formula inside.
In just ten more minutes, the machine would go off and there would be no stopping.
Back with Peter, May stitched him up and didn't take off his mask as fast as she could. Peter immediately got up and started to make his way to the side of the roof when May stopped him.
"Wait." May stopped him. "You could die."
"If I don't go, the city could die," Peter inform her.
"There has to be someone who cares about you, at least tell me who you are," May asked of him and Peter turned to face her. "You can trust me."
Peter sighed and knew if he didn't make it out of this, he should at least let her know the truth. "It's not who I am, but it's what I do that defines me."
May seemed to recognize the statement and was shocked. "Oh, god..."
Peter then backflipped off the roof and swung away towards STAR Labs. But as he kept swinging, the stitches started to become undone and he looked to see it was still several streets away.
Peter kept on going, trying to make it to STAR Labs to save the city and his friends. Seeing a giant body of water was what separated Peter from the labs now, he got an idea.
Shooting webs at the flagpoles on the roof, he started to pull back on. He took himself down to the other side of the building.
"Oh, I pray I live to regret this," Peter muttered to himself as he lets go and he is slingshot across the water towards STAR Labs.
The Watcher eyed Spider-Man as he flew across the sky and made his way to STAR Labs. "Go get him, Spider-Man."
Once Peter landed on the side of STAR Labs, he started to slingshot himself further and make his way upward.
As he did that, Bobby and Gwen raced out of STAR Labs just in time for a police car to pull up. George got out and noticed the two of them.
"Hey," George called the two of them over.
"Dad!" Gwen signed in relief and ran over with the formula. "I have to get this to Spider-Man."
"Get in the car," George told his daughter.
"No, wait, it can stop the Lizard," Gwen informed him. "You don't understand."
"Yes, I do," George assured her. "Your boyfriend is a man of many masks. I get it." Gwen was shocked to hear he somehow knew and he took the formula. "Give me this. Get in the car, stay safe."
George then started to make his way inside while Bobby looked back and forth. Looking up to the roof, he knew that Peter was going to be facing a giant Lizard.
He then turned to face Gwen. "If I don't make it...tell Peter I'm gonna haunt him." He then raced inside and started to allow his ice form to take over.
Up on the roof, Peter came swinging in and knocked Connors down off from the device. Before he could go back to drop it from going off, Lizard grabbed him by the leg and the two of them fell to the roof of the labs.
Peter crawled away as Lizard went in to slice him again, only for Peter to dodge it and shoot a web up to where the device was. As he was in the middle of jumping up, Lizard grabbed him and tossed him off the edge.
Peter then shot off a web and crawled up the side of the building. As he was on his way back up, Lizard grabbed some garbage off the top and tossed it on Peter, but he dodged and shot a web to blind him. Peter then kicked him and got back on the roof.
Lizard went in for another strike as she tried to make it up to the device. But that ended with Peter being grabbed by the tail and Lizard crushing his shooters.
Peter cried in pain in his wrists as Lizard pulled off his mask. "Poor Peter Parker. No mother. No father. No uncle. All alone."
That's when they heard a gun cocking and looked to see Bobby and George.
"He ain't alone, ugly!" Bobby declared.
Lizard snarled at them. Bobby then blasted him with ice, allowing George to shoot him and leave him fingerless. Peter tried to break free as Bobby directed the ice to his tail George then shot off. Once Peter was free, he punched and kicked Lizard into a ditch that allowed Bobby and George to keep shooting and keeping him down.
"Detonation in 45 seconds."
"Here," George said as he handed the antidote to Peter. "Gift from Gwen."
Peter watched his friend and police captain working together to hold back the Lizard and saw Bobby wasn't used to doing such a long strand of ice. He was already losing his power and his ice form was starting to become weaker on him.
"We've got this, Pete! Go stop us from becoming extras in the Super Mario Brothers movie." Bobby begged Peter.
Peter nodded and climbed up to the side of the weird stand on the roof and made his way up to the device. While that happened, Bobby started to become weak and fell to his knees from using so much power.
George saw he was too weak to keep using his powers and his gun had finally run out of ammo. With that in mind, the Lizard came out of the hole and smacked Bobby down. The impact shattered his ice to the point he was rendered unconscious. George smacked him with his gun which didn't do much as Lizard smacked the gun out and then used his nails to dig into his stomach.
With the two of them taken care of Lizard left them as he saw Peter messing with the device. Peter made it up as the countdown went to ten seconds. Huh, he thought he was supposed to make it at the last second.
He quickly changed the formula to the antidote to help the people and cops that were already transforming. Just then, Lizard came up and pulled Peter down at the last second.
The device then went off and Lizard thought he accomplished his goals. But then as the flakes of the formula started to take effect, he was becoming human again and started to slip and lose his grip on Peter.
Working fast, Peter dropped down and grabbed onto the doctor as he slid down the side of a building and grabbed onto a railing on the side of the holding. As he tried to stay up and hold the doctor as his arm disintegrated.
Peter tried to hold his grip on the man as he pulled the two of them to the roof. They panted and tied to get their bearings together.
But that's when Connors watch his arm disappear and he tuned to normal, remembering what he did. "The Captain..."
Peter immediately got up and raced across the roof of STAR Labs and searched for Captain Stacy and Bobby.
"Captain! Bobby!" Peter cried as he finally found the two of them on the ground, George bleeding to death.
Bobby trying to tend to his wounds while waking up.
"The Lizard..." George slurred with his gun in his hand still as Peter kneeled beside him.
"It's okay. We stopped him." Peter assured him. "Come on, let's get you some help."
George tried to move, but the claw marks were too severe, and there was nothing that they could do.
"Okay, just stay with us. Help will be here soon." Bobby promises him.
"You...both...need to be gone when they get here," George tells the two of them.
"I'm not going anywhere," Peter promises.
"I was wrong about you, Peter," George said as he groaned in pain. "This city needs you." He then pulled out Peter's mask that he picked up. "You're gonna need this."
Peter took the mask from him and looked down at the claw marks Lizard left behind and he needed to fix up.
"Just promise me something..." George whispered. "You're gonna make enemies. People are gonna get hurt. Sometimes the people closest to you." Peter had a feeling of where this was going and didn't like it. "So please...leave Gwen out of it. Promise me that."
Peter nodded and sighed, knowing that he was right. "Okay."
George then heard the sirens and knew it was time. "You two need to get going."
Bobby and Peter knew he was right and ran off before the police came in, but by the time that they got there, it was too late. The Captain had already passed...
The Watcher eyed them from a distance and was sorry to watch the good man die. "There was nothing they could have done...nothing anyone could have done. Some moments in history are cemented in time, and others are set in circumstances. These circumstances led to the death of George Stacy, but the birth of our hero."
"But there are still many circumstances that have changed..." The Watcher formed himself inside of the Time Vault while looking at the byline with Thawne eyeing it.
'FLASH VANISHED IN CRISIS'
'SPIDER-MAN HAS NOT BEEN SEEN SINCE THE BATTLE'
BY IRIS WEST
"Much of the timeline has been changed due to you, Spider-Man," Thawne muttered in surprise. "How much...we have to wait and see..."
"One person. One change. Can affect the entire multiverse." The Watcher continued to monologue. "Peter's mere existence changed so much. Barry was more devoted to finding his brother rather than growing an unhealthy and creepy relationship with Iris West. Someone else is soon going to capture the heart of the Fastest Man Alive. Thanks to Peter and Bobby."
