"Things are getting out of hand due to the recent discovery." The Watcher commented, feeling agitated by the thought of the Green Goblin and Reverse-Flash teaming up. "I have seen everything that will happen. Ever could happen. Throughout the thought of the Green Goblin, Norman Osborn, teaming up with this monster from another timeline...even I cannot imagine the horrors that might follow." Then he looked forward and grew confident again. "No, even that duo combined isn't as powerful as they think. There is still hope for this universe. One last hope. Or...should I say two?"
Peter was down in Iron Heights talking to his father, discussing everything that happened recently with him and his new relationship with Mary Jane Watson.
"So... your aunt set you up with the neighbor's niece?" Henry asks his son.
"Yeah, I thought it was a little sad and cheesy, too. But...we got to talk, and she's a nice girl." Peter admitted with a sigh. "I just don't know how I can handle this with all the craziness in my life. Sometimes it feels like the world is against me. The last girl I met; I basically ruined her life. I don't know if I can do that again."
"Seems that this girl isn't afraid of a little danger," Henry replied, thinking of everything Peter's just told him about Mary Jane Watson.
"Yeah, but I don't know if I should let her take the risk." Peter sighed as he rubbed his face.
"Did I tell you about the time that I met your mother?" Henry asked Peter, thinking back to that day.
"I'm gonna have to say no. You rarely even mentioned her." Peter admitted, thinking about the few times they have met.
"Well, listen, back when I was just a few years older than you, must have been around the time of college." Henry tried to remember exactly when. "God, that was a long time ago."
"Dad." Peter got him back on track.
"Right, sorry, well, she was a studying doctor as well," Henry tells Peter. "I thought that she was the one. We got along, and we started to go out. I was even thinking of proposing to her after we graduated. But a few months later after we got out of college, her father fell ill, and she left to take care of him."
"And I have a guess she wasn't mom." Peter started to put it together.
"Nope. When she left, she fell for someone else, and I saw I needed to move on." Henry confirmed to him. "It wasn't until after I got over her was when I ran into your mother. Kind of literally."
Peter definitely needed to hear the rest of this and almost laughed. "What?"
"It was late at night; the street was dark, and she was crossing the street. I was able to stop myself before I ran her over, but as an apology, I offered to buy her some dinner. Then the rest was history."
Peter was happy to hear the story but then wondered what the point was. "Wait, what was the point of that story?"
"The point is that sometimes you need to experience heartbreak before finding the person that you should be with," Henry explains to him. "If I didn't do that, then neither you nor Barry would have been born."
"There was a bit more and million other moments that needed to happen, but if it helps." The Watcher muttered to himself as he watched them.
Peter nodded, understanding what he was saying as a guard came over to them. "Times up."
"Think about it. And I expect to hear all about the date next time we meet." Henry said to Peter before being taken away.
Peter watched him as he was taken away and made his own way out. He needed to get going if he was gonna make it in time for his date.
With Peter and MJ, both of them being short on money due to financial problems (and since they're 15), they were both stuck with just going for a stroll around the park. Luckily, he a least had some money to get some food on their walk.
"Mm," MJ commented as she took a spoonful of ice cream. "This is a nice time."
"Really?" Peter was shocked to hear. "I'm surprised after I suggested this idea, you didn't say you had other plans come up."
"Tiger, I guessed with the salary from a newspaper outlet, you wouldn't have much money," MJ assured him. "Besides, this is nice. Better than all the other dates I've had that were extravagant."
Peter couldn't believe that this was actually happening and helping him. "Wow. Can't believe I heard that."
"I know. I look like the type of girl you expect to want a ton of expensive things, huh?" MJ asked him, knowing how he feels about her. "Trust me, I hate being treated like some sort of...Princess."
"Well, trust me, with the salary I make, that won't be a problem," Peter assured her.
"Good," MJ said as they kept walking around. "So, is that something you wanna keep doing? Photography?"
"Well, it helps keep food on the table." Peter shrugged, not seeing a downside to it right now. "I'll look into more...helpful objects later on. But it's the only thing that I can get right now. What about you? Do you have a profession to get into?"
"I'm in between them right now," MJ said as they kept walking. "Maybe an actress. I've been getting into guitar recently. Who knows?"
Peter smiled and was listening with interest when his senses cause him to drain her out. Something was causing him to look around, wondering where the problems were coming from.
That's when he saw it. A black hole, just like Spot's opens up in the dead of the park.
"Whoa!" MJ cried as the vortex started to pull everything around it.
"Look out!" Peter cried as he grabbed her and started to pull her away. Once the two got a distance away, they turned back and saw the vortex and he knew he needed to go. "I..." he looked sick and forth no idea what to think. "I..."
MJ smiled and couldn't believe that he was asking for her permission. "You have to go."
Peter nodded and raced off to find a place to change. Once getting to a safe location, he ripped his clothes off and replaced them with his suit.
When he swings over to the location, he shoots several webbings strings to get everyone away from the gravitational pull building.
"Where's that guy in red when you need him?" Peter wonders as he noticed a strange device on the grass. "What's that?" Shooting a web to land beside it, he picks it up and looks it over as it seemed to be some weird remote. "If I had to guess...this isn't for some toy helicopter."
"You would be correct!" A familiar voice cried in happiness.
Peter's senses went off just as he looked up to the portal and watched a familiar figure come through the breach. The Green Goblin came flying through and tossed a pumpkin bomb (which Peter had decided to call them), and Peter quickly leaped out of the way to dodge the bomb.
While the people were trying to get away and escape the clutches of the wormhole, a few of them ended up pushing and shoving MJ around. That caused her to slip into the clutches of the portal and began to be dragged in, screaming in terror.
Peter landed on the side of a tree when he saw that MJ was being dragged into the portal. "No!"
Acting fast, Peter leaped and grabbed onto the nearest tree before reaching out. "Grab my hand!"
MJ reached for his hand when she saw the Goblin coming back. "Watch out!"
Peter sensed him coming and quickly reacted by jumping out of the way. In the process, MJ ended up slipping and screaming on her way into the portal. Acting quickly, Peter leaped in and grabbed onto MJ, and shot a web to the ground before the Goblin escaped, laughing all the way.
Peter fell to the ground, MJ landing on top of him and the two panting in shock. After seeing they were alone and were currently laying on top of one another, he laughed and didn't know what to say or think.
"You know, if we keep meeting like this, people are gonna talk," MJ commented.
"Don't worry. I'm seeing someone." Peter assured her, trying not to sound too much like himself.
"So am I. It's sort of new, and I think he'd be kinda jealous of me being with a celebrity." MJ informed him as the two got off and got back up. "Speaking of which, I should go find him."
"Yeah, I'll need to go and find him," Peter said as he gestured to the air without the portal or even Goblin. He went deigning off and started to change behind a tree.
Green Goblin was back. He was carrying technology from the Spot and somehow knew how to control it.
But he couldn't focus on that right now as he quickly changed and ran over to MJ. "MJ!" He then pulled her in for a hug. "You okay?"
"I'm fine," MJ assured him and patted him on the back. "You okay?"
"Yeah," MJ said and sighed. "Something tells me your boss wants you back as soon as possible."
"Yeah." Peter was sorry to say. "Sorry, this didn't go as planned."
"Oh, I don't know," MJ said with a shrug. "A nice walk in the park, I got some ice cream and got to witness a fight between the Goblin that interrupted our dance. Wonder how you'll top our next date."
"Next?" Peter was shocked to hear. "I thought after that, you'd want to move to another state."
"What?" MJ asked in shock, almost as if he suggested something crazy. "I told you. I'm not afraid of a little danger."
Peter was actually impressed by this and just decided to see his crazy she can deal with it. The two of them decided to call it a day as Peter planned to meet with Barry at his work.
Back at STAR Labs, Barry couldn't find out where to go to fight Goblin due to being stuck at a weird crime scene. The current suspect seems to be a metahuman who can control gas. During the talk with his friends at the labs, they thought of creating a prison specifically made to hold back these metahumans and their powers.
"It could be modified to act as a sort of makeshift prison," Harrison said thoughtfully.
"What could?" Barry asked, glancing first at Caitlin, then at Cisco.
"The Particle Accelerator," Harrison responded gravely.
Caitlin's face paled and she looked away from Harrison, staring resolutely at the floor as memories that always came with that word flooded through her. Barry watched in concern, not sure of the whole story but feeling pained at how miserable she looked.
Wells had to say her name three times before she looked over to who called her. Barry was still giving her that searching look of his, but she ignored it. "Did you hear me? We're going down to the accelerator ring."
Barry saved her needing to answer that. "Actually, Dr. Wells, I could use Caitlin's help identifying the poison gas."
Caitlin gave him a look of mixed thanks, relief, and wonder, and he returned it with a small smile.
"Ok." Wells seemed to understand his meaning, but Barry suspected that he figured out more than he let on.
"Is that ok with you?" Barry asked Caitlin quietly.
"Let's go." Caitlin agreed as he gently took her hand and led her out of the labs.
"Welcome to the CCPD!" Barry said grandly as the two of them walked into the main room. He glanced at her inconspicuously, trying to figure out what she was feeling about all of it, but couldn't really read her face.
"So, this is your day job?" Caitlin asked as Barry nodded in confirmation. "Wow."
Barry felt like glowing with pride at her amazement until a criminal came and muttered something about eating her heart for lunch, which made her raise her eyebrow while the officer escorted him away.
"Delightful," Caitlin commented.
Barry winced while one of the detectives took that opportunity to make things worse. "Hey, lab rat. We need prints of this gun. Pronto."
Barry nodded mutely, even as she walked off, feeling a slight embarrassment creeping red over his face. "Barry."
Barry looked over and saw that Peter was there with a smile.
"Hey," Barry said with a smile as he looked between Caitlin and Peter. "What are you doing here?"
"You said you were gonna show me around the place, and my date got cut short," Peter explains as he looked between Barry and Caitlin, noticing something going on. "But I can see you're busy, so call me later."
"Oh, no, you don't need to." Barry tries to stop him as he made his way out.
"No, no, no. It's okay. I still need to swing by the Bugle to drop off my photos. See ya later." Peter said as he sneaked out while picking out his phone. "Hey, yeah, remember that thing of your cousin and my brother? I think something is happening."
The Watcher eyed him as Peter left the police station and made his way down to his job. "Love. A powerful and beautiful thing. These two brothers have started to find love in the strangest of places. One younger brother with a girl he thought he would ever have. And another, with a girl who has a tragic past. Time will tell if these relationships were built to last..." Then he looked over to Peter, who was talking to Bobby. "...or if his brother can keep out of his business. Who am I kidding? I've seen everything, I know what brothers do."
