Remus Lupin had one fine piece of arse.
Well, technically, Remus Lupin had one fine piece of everything, but it was that tight, gorgeous arse that had caught Sirius's attention (and kept it).
As the security guard, Sirius was supposed to be keeping an eye on the mall's shoppers, but his gaze was trained on the ice cream shop, where Remus Lupin stood behind the counter, bent over a large tub of strawberry ice cream.
Remus scooped the ice cream onto a cone and topped it off with some rainbow sprinkles before handing it to a six-year-old boy. The boy must have thanked Remus, because Remus's face lit up with a bright smile.
Sirius's heart ached. Oh, how he wished he could make Remus smile like that! Not to worry though; Sirius had a plan and would execute it soon.
He leaned against the wall beside the shop's door and peered through the window. Remus looked up just then, and their eyes met.
A high-pitched whine escaped Sirius's throat when Remus raised his hand and shyly waved. Sirius plastered a smile on his face and waved back before whirling around and stepping away from the shop, his heart thumping painfully in his chest.
Remus Lupin was drop-dead gorgeous.
Bright, brown eyes that sparkled, as if someone had sprinkled glitter in them. Fluffy, light, golden-brown hair that shimmered under the fluorescent lights. A smile that was sweeter than all the ice cream flavours in his shop.
Sirius's mind never failed to short-circuit when Remus looked at him.
It was terrifying. He'd never felt that way before about anyone. He didn't even know anything about Remus, except for the fact that he sold ice cream, offered free coupons to people who looked remotely sad, and gave away balloons to children every Thursday.
Sirius was still trying to compose himself when Remus's loud yells startled him. He whipped around just in time for a black-haired, masked man to run past him, a couple of ice cream cones in his hands.
"Stop! Thief! Someone stop him!" Remus yelled, brandishing his scoop like a weapon. He looked at Sirius and cried, "He stole my ice cream!"
Snapping to attention, Sirius pulled out his baton and sprinted after the masked man. "Stop, thief!"
The man ran faster, laughing heartily as Sirius chased after him. He leapt over a fallen child, and Sirius rolled his eyes but stopped to help the boy up before running after the man.
When the man ducked inside a boutique, Sirius darted in after him. He scanned the store for the man, but he wasn't anywhere to be seen. Sirius frowned and walked towards the changing rooms. Knocking on the door, he called out, "You better not be eating the ice creams in there, James. Come on out!"
"But these are delicious," James Potter, Sirius's best friend, whined from inside, his voice a bit muffled because of his mask. He unlocked the door and peeked at Sirius from behind the curtain, his eyes glinting with mischief. "Now I get why you love the man so much."
"I don't love him," Sirius lied. "I'm just attracted to him, that's all."
"Uh-huh, sure," James said, rolling his eyes. Lowering his mask, he licked the chocolate cone in his hand and moaned. "God, this is great! Pay the man for me, will you?"
"Stick to the plan, damn it! You're coming with me," Sirius grumbled, reaching forward and grabbing James's arm.
"You still need to pay me for doing this," James reminded him, licking the cone as fast as he could.
"I'll pay you when the job's done." Yanking him out of the changing room, Sirius pulled James's mask up and dragged him out of the shop and towards the ice cream shop, ignoring the small crowd that had gathered to watch.
Remus stood outside, wringing his hands, a worried frown on his face. When he saw Sirius dragging a complaining James towards him, he perked up and beamed. Remus rushed over and cried, "You caught him! Great job, Sirius! Thank you so much."
Sirius puffed out his chest and grinned. "Just doing my duty, that's all."
Shoving the cones into Remus's hands, James ducked his head and mumbled, "I'm sorry I stole your ice cream, sir. It won't happen again, I promise."
Remus bit his lower lip, and Sirius almost fainted at the sight. Remus then smiled and said, "It's alright. You can have them for free—all you had to do was ask."
"No, Remus, you shouldn't encourage this man," Sirius said, scowling at James. "He's a menace to society. I'll call the police and—"
"No, please, don't call the police," James wailed, falling onto his knees and grabbing Sirius's legs. "I'll change, I promise! I won't steal from anyone ever again, but please give me a chance!"
Sirius pretended to think and glanced at Remus, who was looking at him with a hopeful glint in his wide eyes. Remus stepped closer to him and placed his hand on his arm. "Sirius, why don't we give him a chance?"
Sirius melted. He breathed out, "If you say so."
Remus turned the full force of his smile on Sirius. It was a wonder Sirius didn't fall onto his knees and beg Remus to take him like a bitch in heat.
Remus handed James the cones and said, "We're going to trust you this time, alright? Don't do it again."
"Yes, thank you, oh, thank you. You're so kind! You're a literal angel," James claimed. He even lowered his head to kiss Remus's hands from behind his mask, but Sirius grabbed him by the scruff of his neck before he could do so.
"Leave," Sirius barked, and James nodded hurriedly and ran away. Once he was gone, Sirius turned to Remus and said, "You okay?"
Remus blinked."What?"
"That must have been scary—someone trying to steal something from your shop," Sirius explained.
Remus immediately shook his head and smiled at him, making his knees tremble. "Oh, no, not at all! I knew you'd stop him. You're always so attentive when you're on duty. I know I don't have to worry about anything bad happening when you're around."
"That's… that's really kind of you, but I'm not that good at my job," Sirius said honestly. He really wasn't; all he did was watch Remus like a hungry hawk.
Remus then bit his lower lip and sent Sirius's blood rushing straight down south. He wrung his hands, unaware of the effect he had on Sirius, and said, "I, uh… Is there anything I can do to thank you for helping me out today? Maybe… maybe I could treat you to some ice cream…"
Oh, God! This is happening! This is actually happening!
Swallowing, Sirius smiled shakily at Remus and teased, "You mean you're going to give me ice cream to eat on duty?"
He almost had a heart attack when Remus's cheeks overspread with a soft blush and he ducked his head. Remus mumbled, "I meant we could have ice cream together… if you like, that is."
Sirius's head bobbed like a bobblehead head. He'd been waiting for this day for ages! He exclaimed, "I'd love that. How about tonight? After your shift is over?"
Nodding, Remus stepped back and waved at him before he ducked back inside his shop and closed the door.
Sirius stood there, grinning like a fool. The urge to lie down on the floor and roll around, squealing like a prepubescent girl was strong, but Sirius was a man, and men didn't do that in public. He made a mental note to do that as soon as he got home from his date.
Oh, God. He had a date. With Remus Lupin. All his dreams were coming true!
As soon as Remus entered his shop, he strode over to his usual place behind the counter and fished his mobile out of his pocket. His neighbour's boyfriend had texted him already.
So, how did I do? Was I convincing enough? Did your man fall for it? James had asked.
Remus pursed his lips to hide his smile, his fingers flying over the letters. You did great. I finally managed to ask him out. He said yes!
James texted back, That's great and all, but when are you paying me?
I already gave you two ice cream cones for free, James. Do you really need the money?
Yes! I had to do something for my best friend today, and I'm charging him for the job too. So pay up.
Fine, I'll pay you after I get home from my date. I'll give Lily the money, okay?
Awesome! Have fun, Remy. Tell Sirius I said hi. :)
It was only when he was closing the shop that Remus realised he'd never told James Sirius's name. He didn't have time to think about that though; Sirius was waiting for him.
