Chapter 13
Tim and Angela stared at Rosalind. Tim stood at the back of Angela's chair. Detective Lopez sat adjacent to Rosalind Dyer. Rosalind was in ankle bracelets and one hand was handcuffed to the interrogation room table. She sat up smugly staring at Tim. She started to sing Dream a Little Dream of Me.
"STOP IT!" Tim hit his hand on the table.
"The fierce protector." Rosalind chuckled slightly. "I see you're still the first to protect the pretty police officer. She's watching. Isn't she?"
"Why did you turn yourself in?" Angela touched Tim on his arm to calm him. They ignored Rosalind's question.
"Honestly, it was no fun being out there on the run. I couldn't be seen anywhere. How am I supposed to have fun when I'm being watched so closely?" Rosalind hummed a few more notes. "Seriously, where is John Nolan? I do miss him."
"You seemed to have some time to do this." Angela produced a photo of Bradley Salmon's body.
"Oh yes. That was easy enough. He feared being found out. Once I escaped, he panicked at my face all over the news. He drove the getaway van. Such a cowardly person. Do you want to know how I did it?" Rosalind closed her eyes savoring the thoughts of killing Bradley. "He didn't expect anything. Seduction is a powerful thing. I tied him up. Tortured him at least 12 hours then I killed him. He was so frightened. He cried. I do love it when a grown man cries."
"How did you escape?" Angela knew that Lucy and Grey were on the other side of glass. She didn't want to go into too much detail of Rosalind torturing Bradley Salmons. Tim asked Lucy not to be in the room with Rosalind. He knew Rosalind would enjoy that too much.
"This pretty, blonde woman came to visit. She wasn't blonde then. She wore a red colored wig. She was dressed as a nurse. I was given a note to fake sickness. So simple. It was in the book binding of Romeo and Juliet. Ironic, a forbidden romance." Rosalind grinned mischievously as she looked at Tim. "Barbie lifeguard was so infatuated with you, fierce protector. She would do anything to get rid of her competition. Oh that pretty police officer was targeted again. How could I resist?"
"I thought you said you weren't after Lucy?" Tim wanted to jump over the table.
"I wasn't. She was." Rosalind smirked maliciously. "I was more after Nolan. However, his place was like a fortress, and his firefighter was protected. Sad really. My whole goal was to destroy Nolan's confidence. You were just an added bonus. Now what did I get from escaping. One insignificant kill. It was much more exciting inside my cell. Now where is John Nolan? I'd love to talk to him before I go back to prison?"
"That's not happening." Angela informed her.
"Oh but it will. If you want to know where Barbie lifeguard is hiding, you'll let me talk to Officer Nolan." Rosalind said with confidence. "She's still after the pretty police officer."
John Nolan didn't have to say much. Rosalind gave him the information because he was sitting there. She remained stoic for the first fifteen minutes staring at Nolan with a sardonic smirk on her face. When Nolan started to leave, she spoke.
"She's at the place of my first kill." Rosalind sighed in contentment.
"That place is being watched day and night." Nolan pressed his fingers to his temples. "Be honest with me or I'm leaving."
"Listen, Boy Scout. I am." Rosalind raked her hand over Nolan's, causing him to flinch. "I love the disgust you have for me. I feed on it."
"That's enough." Nolan stood up angrily. "You said you'd give us the whereabouts of Ashley McGrady."
"I did. Did the FBI not call off the watch at my house when I came in?" Rosalind hummed slightly the tune Dream A Little Dream of Me. "She has been hiding out in shady motels. Isn't that sad? She's such a prima donna. She hated it. I loved wallowing in her misery. She filmed me. I insisted. Of course, Barbie didn't want to but knew better than to cross me. After all, I was craving a kill anyway."
"We are done here." Angela interrupted.
"For now." Rosalind closed her eyes again like she was dreaming. "Such a lovely song for her fierce protector. I can't blame Barbie for being jealous of the pretty police officer." She looked pointedly at Tim. "She means so much to you and you to her."
Rosalind began singing again knowing Lucy was watching from the other side of the interrogation glass.
"Get her out of here." Tim ordered angrily. He marched out to check on Lucy.
"He loves her so much. Don't you think so?" Rosalind continued to sing the song quietly.
