Chapter 6

Hellsing

Seras quickly lost track of time. When she wasn't in bright sunlight, she was locked in a room with UV lights, they weren't as weakening as natural sunlight, but they also weren't helpful either, vampires needed darkness, and she needed her coffin. Without it, she felt so weak, and she knew that this was another torture for her: sleep deprivation. It was the gentlest one she had suffered. The first thing they did was strip her naked and parade her in front of maybe all of the werewolves and vampires in Alpha's base. They then used silver chains to tie her to a chair and used pliers to tear out all of her nails. Her nails quickly grew back, and they repeated the process. For hours they tore out her fingernails and toenails, making sure there was time between the last nail so the pain would be fresh when they tore out the next one. They then tossed her into the room with the UV lights.

She didn't know how much time had passed, she focused on healing her body through force of will and trying to calm her mind. She had to resist, she had to persevere, no matter what they did to her, she couldn't tell them anything. Unfortunately, she was a vampire, and had no means to silence herself forever. She could only pray that somehow, she could tell the others where she was. Telepathy was impossible, Alpha was stopping her, Seras could feel the werewolf leader's mind probing hers all the time, waiting for an opening when she could take what she wanted. Seras could only wait and pray.

Her thoughts were interrupted by Alpha, who entered Seras' room. "Things will only get worse for you, Seras Victoria. I know you think I am a cruel woman, but I was raised in a cruel world. Rape was considered a natural act, the strong dominating the weak; tearing open a pregnant woman was considered part of war, and a firstborn child was a necessary sacrifice for the gods to ensure the growth of our crops. I take no pleasure in cruelty, but I will not shirk from it if it must be done," Alpha told Seras as she walked closer to her. Seras remained prone on the ground, hoping the werewolf would come closer, close enough for Seras to use her power over the shadows. If Alpha was just a little closer, her shadow would fall on Seras, and she could strike her. Alpha stopped centimeters too far away, and then lifted her right hand. Seras felt pressure all over her body as she was telekinetically lifted into the air.

She couldn't break free, and floated closer to Alpha, before her arms and legs were spread out, allowing Alpha to examine her body. Alpha commented, "It is a pity I must harm such beauty. No doubt had you been born in the same era as I, you could have been one of the most popular priestesses of Ishtar." Alpha turned to leave, and Seras floated close behind her. They went down several rooms, UV lights blazing at them the whole time, before they stopped inside a room with a large bucket inside it and two werewolves close by wearing black uniforms. Alpha telekinetically dropped Seras to the ground, and the other werewolves quickly tied her hand and legs with silver handcuffs. The cuffs burned but Seras only grunted from the pain, her eyes were on the bucket. "Holy water," Seras gasped.

Alpha nodded, "Indeed. Tell me, Seras, have you ever seen what happens when a vampire is dunked in holy water? It is quite fascinating as their body slowly dissolves over several hours. And the entire time, the vampire will thrash and move around until they are rendered as mere bones and physically unable to move. Of course, that is only under total immersion, and we don't want to kill you if we can avoid it." Suddenly, one of the uniformed werewolves grabbed Seras and dunked her head into the bucket of holy water.

She felt her body burn as her skin started to melt and she thrashed around. Some of the holy water got down her throat and burned all the way to her stomach, feeling like burning magma the entire time. But a vampire cannot drown unless they are in moving water, and so she thrashed around as fast hard as she could. But the UV lights weakened her, as did the silver that bound her, and the werewolves were very large men that could easily overpower an ordinary woman of her size. They lifted her up and Seras vomited out holy water like it was poison, she barely took a breath before they dunked her into the holy water again.

They repeated this procedure dozens of times, each time, more of Seras' flesh was melted away, more of her body burned, and every third time she came up, Alpha asked her, "Are you ready to talk?" Every time Seras was asked that she mumbled, "Never." For her disobedience, she was dunked back into the holy water. Her eyes were soon burned away, and they had to give her time eventually for her tongue and jaw to heal enough for her to speak. Every time Alpha asked, "Are you ready to talk?" And every time Seras' answer was the same, "Never." For hours it went like this, a human would have drowned after only one. Finally, they brought Seras up, and Alpha didn't ask her any questions.

She waited for Seras' face to reform before she stroked her hair and said, "You are a good soldier, Seras Victoria. No doubt, if you were human, the Churches would declare you a martyr for your suffering." Seras just looked at Alpha wearily before she lunged at her, trying to bite her. But Alpha was faster than the weakened vampire and grabbed her throat and squeezed it so tightly that Seras' windpipe crumpled like an aluminum can. Alpha threw her to the ground and ordered her werewolves, "Hold her down, and keep her jaw open. Break it if you must." The werewolves obeyed their leader and held Seras down, one prying her mouth open.

Seras tried to scream as she realized what was going to happen, but she was powerless to stop it as Alpha poured the remaining holy water down her throat. Once all of it was down her gullet, the werewolves held her mouth shut, she couldn't vomit it out as it burned her insides all the way to her stomach and stayed there like an inferno. For hours the holy water burned inside of her, unable to leave her body, and her body was too strong for it to burn through her. Finally, Alpha had enough and raise her left hand. Her nails turned into claws, and she sliced through Seras' stomach, letting Seras' blood and the holy water pour down into the ground. The werewolves unchained her and watched as her stomach slowly healed over half and hour.

Bloody tears poured down Seras' eyes as she was dragged back to her cell and tossed inside. The Draculina curled into a ball and whispered a prayer, "Oh God, please, let me die before I talk."

Danny was not happy as he reported back to Lt. General Whitman about their mission. He gritted his teeth as he told her about how Seras was captured, and Iscariot's mission was a complete failure. Lt. General Whitman nodded at all this, and told him, "I understand that this isn't ideal, but it is mostly a victory. We rescued thousands of people, killed a lot of werewolves, and people know it." Danny asked her, "What about Seras? She's one of our most valuable allies, she saved my life and my family's plenty of times. We can't just abandon her." Lt. General Whitman sighed and rubbed her eyes, "I know, and we're doing all we can to find her, but she literally vanished into thin air. The Brotherhood of the Fang made sure that we didn't learn anything more than we already do. We have nothing to go on to find her and mount a rescue operation."

"We need to find her!" Danny practically yelled. "I know that!" Lt. General Whitman yelled back at him, "But we are desperate right now! We've been under martial law since the werewolves and their far-right allies tried to attack Washington, we're struggling to keep people happy and fed, the power grid is down, the interstate system is barely functioning, and people are angry. The President is trying to keep them placated, and we need this to look like a complete win for us. You, your children, and the halfa soldiers are the only things keeping hope alive in America. Internationally as well, things are heating up. We need to look strong; humanity needs to be united in this war, but agents around the world, that are still alive at least, have warned us that there are nations considering siding with the Order of the Fang." "Brotherhood," Danny corrected her. "Who cares," Lt. General Whitman said as she plopped onto her seat and sighed deeply.

"We need more superpowered soldiers, but the genes that allowed you and Vlad Masters to survive the transformation process are extremely rare," Lt. General Whitman told Danny. Danny nodded his head, and then thought about his experiences with ghosts. "Maybe if we try asking ghosts to help us, instead of trying to make more halfas," he suggested. The Lt. General stared at him for two minutes before asking, "Could it work?" Danny shrugged his shoulders, "I don't know. Ghosts are individuals, not a country. Some might, if they're the ghosts of people. But those ghosts are usually weaker than ghosts born in the Ghost Zone. But, if we do, it could solve our numbers problem. IF we can talk them into helping us. I don't know what we can offer them to get ghosts on our side."

"I'll consult my superiors," Lt. General Whitman said as she got up from her desk. "As for you, I suggest that you get ready for your Press Conference."

Danny nodded and went Ghost as he left the office and headed for the Press Room of the White House. The room was packed with reporters, all of them were eager to hear from Danny Phantom, Earth's Savior and America's Hope. You didn't need to have a psychic Third Eye to feel the tension, desperation, in the air. The world needed hope now, and Danny had to give it to them. The Press Secretary gave Danny the podium, and Danny stepped up.

Cameras flashed and reporters started asking a million questions, and Danny stood still for a minute before it quieted down. "Yesterday, I, and a hand-picked team of dedicated soldiers, who risked their lives to become half-ghosts like me, led an operation in Canada to free thousands of people that The Brotherhood of the Fang, which once called itself the Order of the Fang, had kidnapped. They took them to feed on these innocent men, women, and children. Together, we freed all of them, without a single loss of life!"

The Press' fury rekindled, and Danny waited again before he started talking again, "All of those monsters are dead! And not one soldier or civilian was lost! And our allies of the Hellsing Organization reported similar success in their rescue operation in China. This war has been the most brutal that humanity has ever faced, and We. Are. Going to win it! That's all I can tell my fellow Americans, and people around the world who can hear me. Do not give up! The Brotherhood of the Fang has lost more of their monsters with every fight! I am not going to give up, until we have won! Until the day that they have been wiped out, until our children no longer fear the night, we will never surrender. That is all."

Danny walked out of the Press Room with reporters scrambling for more, but as soon as he was out of the room, he turned invisible and passed through the roof and up into the sky. He needed to clear his head and figure out how he could recruit ghosts to help humans.
