Chapter 8: Sisterly Love
The next morning, Blackfire awoke in her new room at the tower. The room wasn't decorated yet, but the color scheme was a dark purple and black, so it suited her.
As she got up and did the various morning routines, (brushing her teeth, combing her hair, applying deodorant, etc), she soon heard a knock at the door.
Blackfire got dressed in the new civilian clothes the others had gotten her.
A dark purple jacket with silver accents on it, a black top that showed her cleavage a little, (something she liked), black skinny jeans that hugged her hips, and tall dark purple boots.
Blackfire opened it to see Starfire smiling at her in her civilian clothes as well.
Starfire, "sister!"
Starfire hugged Blackfire, making the older sibling smile.
Starfire broke the hug and then said, "I am excited to show you so many things today! What activity would you like to do first?"
Blackfire, "how about we start with breakfast?"
Starfire, "an excellent choice!"
Starfire and Blackfire made their way to the living room.
They saw the usual sights.
Beast Boy and Vic were playing their racing game.
Dick was listening to music on the other end of the couch.
Raven was reading a book.
And Jack was making breakfast.
Jack, "morning you two."
Starfire, "good morning friend Jack!"
Jack, "I'm making bacon and eggs. There's juice in the fridge for you guys."
Starfire smiled and went to the fridge and pulled out a bottle of mustard.
Jack cringed, still not understanding her weird habit of drinking the stuff.
Blackfire simply made herself a glass of water.
As Blackfire sat down, she asked, "how do you cook these bacon and eggs?"
Jack, "well, I do it the way my dad taught me. I bake the bacon in the oven, flipping them over every so often, and then put them on a paper towel when I finish cooking them. It soaks up the grease. The eggs; I mix them with some cheese, a little bit of milk, and spices. Pepper, salt, garlic powder, onion powder, and a little bit of Cajun spice. The toast, everyone likes it different. Vic likes his burnt, Dick likes his crispy and brown but not burnt, Raven and I like ours lightly toasted, Beast Boy likes those pre-made waffles, and Starfire likes very lightly toasted."
Blackfire, "I'll take mine crispy. It all sounds so delicious."
Starfire, "oh, they are! Jack makes the best breakfast meals!"
Jack, "I make sure to make a ton of it for everyone. Especially since Beast Boy is vegetarian, and Vic loves bacon."
Vic and BB, "you know it!"
Soon, Jack finished breakfast and made everyone a plate.
Everyone ate at their own pace.
BB and Vic scarfed their food down.
Raven ate slowly.
Stafire ate hers in between talking to Blackfire, Blackfire ate at a moderate pace as she listened to her sister.
Dick and Jack ate normally.
Once breakfast was finished, each of the Titans went off to do their own things.
Starfire and Blackfire began flying towards the city, eager to start their day together.
….
The first thing the sisters did was head to the mall, since the place was a cornucopia of shops.
Blackfire was amazed by all of the people walking around.
Blackfire, "a lot of people like this place, hmm?"
Starfire, "it is a very popular hangout."
Blackfire, "so, what shall we do first?"
Starfire, "oh! The store called; Hot Topic! Raven loves this place! We shall go there first!"
Blackfire, "alright then. Lead on little sister."
Starfire squealed and dashed off while dragging Blackfire behind her.
During this, the white haired girl from before was sitting at the food court, watching them.
She muttered, "soon. Soon I'll talk to them. I have to know if they've encountered dad yet…."
….
We see Jack taking a walk around the tower, taking in the fresh air. Since they lived on an island, there was always a hint of salt and sand in the air.
As Jack walked, he suddenly heard something...
"Meow."
Jack looked around, and saw what made the noise.
On a piece of driftwood that washed up was a little baby kitten. They were in a very poor state. It's right ear was chipped, it had a scar over its right eye, it's front left paw was missing two digits, and it was covered in oil!
Jack, "oh dear God."
Jack ran over and picked up the kitten. The kitten let out another meow as it tried to open its eyes.
Jack, "hang on little guy. Victor will help you."
Jack ran inside with the kitten.
….
Blackfire and Starfire walked out of Hot Topic with a few little trinkets they bought. Blackfire now had a pair of sunglasses painted like a sugar skull. Starfire was wearing new earrings that had sparkly purple gems in them. They weren't real gems, but they looked pretty.
Blackfire, "I love this store! Very dark and macabre."
Starfire, "yes, it was quite dark and, uh, how they say, quirky."
Blackfire, "now, I heard about some store called, FYE?"
Starfire, "indeed! They sell all sorts of music, candy and movies!"
Blackfire, "then let's see what they've got, dear sister!"
Starfire nodded happily as they dashed to where the store was.
….
Jack was pacing outside of Vic's room.
He had been fixing up the cat ever since Jack brought them in, and was waiting to see if they were alright.
Soon, the door opened.
Jack, "is it okay?"
Vic smiled and said, "the little guy should be fine. I gave him a bath, I cleaned his wounds, fed him. Now he's just playing with the ball of yarn I gave him.
Jack smiled and asked, "can I see him?"
Vic, "by all means."
Jack walked in, and was relieved at the sight.
The kitten's fur was now clean and soft, showing it was ash grey. It's eyes were open, showing one blue one and one green one, uncommon for cats. It had some bandages on its ear.
The kitten was pushing the ball of yarn around.
Jack went over and gently picked up the cat as it held the ball of yarn, chewing on it.
Jack, "he is adorable!"
Vic, "so, what do you wanna do with the little guy?"
Jack, "well…. I wanna take care of the little guy. Whoever tossed such a cute little thing out didn't deserve them."
Vic nodded and asked, "well, what're you gonna name him?"
Jack thought for a minute and said, "Percy."
Vic, "why Percy?"
Jack, "I just think the name fits."
Vic nodded and said, "I'll put cat food and a cat bed on the shopping list."
Jack smiled, "thanks man."
Vic patted Jack on the back as he left with Percy.
….
Back at the mall, Starfire and Blackfire were sitting at the food court, eating lunch.
Blackfire was eating a chicken sandwich and French fries, while Starfire was eating a hamburger with a ton of mustard on it.
That's when two guys in leather jackets walked up to their table.
(Just imagine two generic greasers.)
Greaser 1, "hey, are these seats taken?"
Starfire, "but there are only two?"
Greaser 2, "we mean, may we sit with you?"
Blackfire, "uh, we're just about to finish our lunch, so it would be a waste."
Greaser 1, "well, are you fine ladies looking for a good time?"
Starfire, "oh yes! Me and my sister are having a day out together. It has been such a long time since we have seen one another."
Greaser 2, "great, great. Now, what do you say we take you somewhere…. Private?"
Blackfire was catching on. The greasers were flirting with them.
Blackfire, "sorry, but it's just supposed to be me and my sister today."
The sisters tossed their trash away and began to walk away, but one of the greasers grabbed Blackfire's wrist!
Greaser 2, "c'mon, we've been nice! I figure you-"
That's when, Starfire of all people, punched the greaser away!
Starfire, "leave my sister alone! She says no! We do not wish to associate with either of you!"
The greasers turned tail and ran!
Blackfire was surprised!
Blackfire, "Starfire?"
Starfire, "I have only just gotten you back. I'm not going to let anyone hurt my big sister."
Blackfire actually teared up as she hugged her little sister.
Starfire smiled and hugged back before saying, "come, let us go somewhere else. I heard the place that is beyond the beds and baths has amazing soap for us to purchase."
Blackfire smiles and says, "I'd like that."
….
Back at the tower.
Raven was reading a book while laying on her stomach on the couch.
That's when she saw Percy waddle up to her.
Raven, "um…. Hello?"
Percy then walked around Raven and started crawling onto her back. She tensed a little, but it passed as Percy curled up on her back and began purring as they started to doze off.
Raven gave a small smile as she read her book.
Jack was nearby, and had to stop himself from going, "awww."
….
Later, back at the mall, Starfire and Blackfire were now trying on some dresses, in case they needed to go to some sort of social event.
Starfire was trying on a nice pink dress that seemed to sparkle.
(The dress she wears in the prom episode.)
Blackfire was trying on a shoulderless dark purple dress that had a slit on either side to show her legs off.
Blackfire muttered, "dang, I look good!"
….
Back at the tower, Beast Boy was napping on the couch in a bull dog form.
That's when Percy came up to him.
BB was confused at first before Percy did the same thing he did to Raven and crawled up on top of BB. BB cringed a bit as Percy used their claws to get comfy, but they soon relaxed as Percy began sleeping on top of him, all curled up.
Jack was in the kitchen, preparing dinner, and couldn't help but smile and mutter, "Chuck Jones would be proud."
….
Starfire and Blackfire were now in a bookstore at the mall.
They were looking at the clearance section, since they tended to find surprisingly good things in those sections.
Starfire and Blackfire were preparing to head back to the Tower after this.
….
Back at the Tower, Dick was meditating in the living room.
He felt someone sit next to him.
Dick opened his eyes and looked next to him.
Percy was sitting next to him, staring out the window.
Dick closed his eyes and just let the cat sit next to him as he meditated.
….
Later, The Tamaranian sisters returned to the tower.
When they opened the door to the living room, they were surprised by the sight they saw.
Percy was sitting at the door, looking at the sisters.
Starfire gasped and squeed in joy and picked up the kitten.
Starfire, "how did such an adorable creature get inside of our home."
Jack was in the kitchen putting the finishing touches on dinner. Hamburgers, with one of them being a veggie burger for BB.
Jack, "Starfire, Blackfire, meet Percy. I found him outside of the Tower. We got him cleaned and fed, and the little guy has just been exploring the place."
Blackfire, "it certainly is cute. Now, Starfire and I are going to put the things we bought into our rooms real quick, and then we'll join for dinner."
Jack nodded and said, "righteo."
As the sisters walked away, Percy made their way to Jack, who smiled and bent down to pet the cat.
Later, the team sat down for dinner as they played one of the movies Starfire and Blackfire bought.
Some flick about an ogre who went off to rescue a princess with the help of a talking donkey of all things.
Once the movie ended, everyone went to their rooms, getting a good night's rest.
Jack slept with a smile on his face as Percy snuggled up on his chest.
….
During that night, we see the man with one eye from before sitting in his chair.
His butler approached with some tea.
The man said, "WinterGreen? I think it's time to send these Titans a message. Contact…. The H.I.V.E…."

DaV1nc136: well, im very glad you liked the chapter and my twist on events. I always wished Blackfire had gotten more screen time as either a villain or hero, so I decided to have her join the team. And yeah, I agree with you about the anti-hero thing.

I decided to give Jack a pet.
A little kitten named Percy.
I don't know why, but I've always thought the name would be perfect if I ever got one of those vats with ash grey fur, hence why this and Ben 10: Alternate Alien both have a cat like this.
The next chapter, we'll move onto the Final Exam.
And here are shows that are a direct influence or are connected to the story.
Batman: The Animated Series, Superman: The Animated Series, Static Shock, Green Lantern the Animated Serues Justice League Unlimited, Batman Beyond, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, (any of them will do, but I'm thinking the ones from Batman vs The TMNT work better), a little bit of DC Super Hero Girls and Young Justice, and of course, Teen Titans.
