AU Based on Lauren Bloom's backstory. 18-year-old Lauren Bloom escapes New York and her mess of a family to start college where no one can find her. But leaving the guilt behind is not so easy. What if she met Leyla back then? Would she have found peace with herself? Would she have found her way in the world more easily?

But Helen wasn't ready for this. Wasn't ready to hear Max's voice streaming through the small device, saying words she never thought she'd hear fall from his lips.

Shooting his way in with a bomb vest strapped to his chest, this man is on a mission with one specific doctor on his mind. Which doctor is in danger? This puts the whole hospital at risk, who will survive, who will perish? Exploring the intriguing relationship between Max and Sharpe.

Helen is a patient this time. Beyond that, just shipper fluff.

Max Goodwin came to New Amsterdam thanks to a friend who is also a physician at the hospital, Dr. Embry Costa. Embry cares for Max and doesn't think he belongs with Georgia because of the way she treats him, but Embry isn't great for love advice since she's hooking up with the Dean. This story will follow the show as each episode airs.
