Timber! Newkirk has face-planted in the prison yard again. This is humorous whump, with strong elements of parody of the H/C genre, as Newkirk accumulates problems. It's also a story about how the team solidified in the early days of the operation, and how Hogan saw the potential in a group of men who could rally around their annoying friend.

This story takes place after the episode 'permission to escape' and is based on the drabble 'anxiety'. I hope you like it.

In my imagined Hogan's Heroes universe, there is a seventh, finale season. The only change made for my purposes is that "D Day at Stalag 13" took place mid to late in season 6. This story, my first is the debut episode of the finale season and follows up some of the events of the final episode of season 6, "Rockets or Romance".

Hogan drops by the Kommandantur for a game of chess and discovers a family tradition.

Returning from a mission in Gemunden, Hogan and Newkirk run into unexpected interference. Their driver's dead, their car is wrecked, Hogan has a concussion, and a search team is on their trail. Can Newkirk get them to safety? Written for a fandom-blind challenge (to be listed at the end) so lots of basic series info is spelled out. Rating changed to T for a crude word in Ch 2.

A little problem erupts when a Polish officer and his men with a knack for escaping are sent to camp. All the while, Hochstetter and Burkhalter are lurking behind the scenes. Will this shake up to be the most wonderful time of the year Hogan and the gang was hoping for, or will the prisoners and the guards be subjected to another bleak year?
