Elisabeth didn't have any good night's sleep, mainly because car-robots plagued her dreams. She had to run from them almost the entire time as they searched for her and called her name. It was awful and she still felt scared, but when she remembered the end of it all, she felt embarrassed and tried to forget that she ever dared to dream that.
But also, it could be because of the movie and the fact, he is the only 'man', whom now she spends ridiculous amounts of time with. Because being with him, only him, for two straight days and now starting the third day, was becoming too much. So, yeah, she certainly needed to do something without him. Preferably with somebody else. She desperately needed to forget that they had sex in her dream. It was just plain wrong to have any kind of sexual contact with an alien. And strangely good and lustful and his voice was so fucking sweet when he called her name…
"My mind is like a goddamn fanfiction. The bad kind" she murmured as she made the dough for the pancake. She decided to make pancakes based on her previous experience of Megatron loving sweet food. Or spicy food. Or any kind of food.
When she heard a sudden creak behind her, the pictures of the gruesome car-robots came flashing in. So, she instinctively grabbed the pan next to the bowl and swung towards the origin of the sound. Hitting Megatron in the face.
"You, fragging human! What was THAT for?!" he cursed as he put his hand on his aching face.
"Sorry, sorry, sorry!" she repeated as she put down the pan and stepped closer to him. "You crept on me and I freaked out, because I had a very long night and I'm…"
"Just talk less for Primus's sake!" he cut her off frustrated. Elisabeth then suddenly shut up and went for the freezer to take some peas. After she put it into his face even before he could object against it. "Why are you making my face cold?"
"To make it swell less. Merlin left you a pretty face, it would be a crime to ruin it."
Elisabeth was as close to him as in his dream and this made him quite disturbed. So, he tried to think of everything, but his dream. Like if he is dead, what actually happened to the Decepticons? Did they disband or Starscream replaced him as usual? If they disbanded, did the Autobots kill them all or put them in prison? And how can he even contact them? Even if he could do this, who would believe him? Or is there a way to reverse whatever happened to him?
Elisabeth found their closeness disturbing as well, but seeing him zone out made it a little bit less embarrassing. Looking at him she realised how easily Megatron made himself home in Merlin's body in the span of two short days. The messy hair and the combination of grey-black coloured clothes made his looks go from cute to hot. Not to mention that he had a certain aura, which was the main reason why she never even thought about calling him Merlin, except their first initial meeting, despite him literally being Merlin.
"Did you like the movie yesterday?" she finally asked, breaking the silence, making him snap out of whatever he was in. "You seemed to be interested."
"I liked it. It reminded me of many things. Some of which I thought I have long forgotten."
"Well… And I realised I have never related to a movie this much in my whole life." She then stepped back and put the melted peas on the table, so she could continue making the pancakes.
"Are you making more food?" he looked up curiously and a little bit annoyed.
"You made it sound like it's a bad thing." Looked at him, Elisabeth smiling while she put the pan on the stove to heat it up.
"Maybe it is" he crossed his hands.
"Tell me that, when you're eating the fourth pancake because it's so good and sweet! And don't give me that look, I know you love food" she said furrowing her eyebrows and putting her hands on her hips.
"You are right," Megatron agreed as he watched Elisabeth turn back and pour the dough into the pan. After a while he saw her moving the pan and flipping the pancake. It got him interested. "Can you teach me how to do that?"
"You mean flipping a pancake?" her answer was a nod from him. "Yes, of course" she agreed while gesturing to him to come closer. "So, you have to do the following: First, put one ladle dough into the pan and let it be for circa two minutes. Second, you carefully scrape it up, because it usually sticks to the pan. Third, you start to move the pan back and forth for a while, then flip it like this." Here she demonstrated the flipping. "Fourth, you wait for the other side to be done. That's all. Want to try or you need more demonstration?"
"I think I will try this."
"Okay" shrugged Elisabeth, letting Megatron make the pancakes. She just sat down to the table not far from him and started to play Candy Crush on her phone until she heard him say:
"Elisabeth… Why is the pancake defying the laws of gravity?"
"What?" she snapped at him, who was just pointing upwards. Looking up she saw the pancake, which stuck to the ceiling. "How did you do that?"
"I did what you said, I tossed the pancake up, but it never came down and I noticed it was just… up there." This was the same moment when the half-baked pancake decided to fall down. Into Megatron's head. "Well… it is not there anymore."
This made Elisabeth burst out laughing, which made him annoyed. However, listening to a sudden idea, he threw the pancake from his head into her face, which made him laugh.
"You want war Megatron? Because now you have it!" she shouted, tossing back the pancake. So, yeah, they started a war which lasted until everything became dirty by the dough and pancakes. On the floor laid both of them, tired.
"Can we agree on a draw?" asked Megatron looking at Elisabeth while breathing heavily.
"If it means you're helping me with the cleaning up, then yes" she answered, turning her head towards him.
"Thank you, Elisabeth. It has been so long since I did something so entertaining like this."
"You're welcome, Megatron. And in all honesty, in the span of two short days, you managed to turn my life upside down in a way I never imagined. In a good way. So, I owe you a thanks too" she smiled at him gladfully.
"It has been just two days? Time passes so slowly for you, humans."
"Well, after you make your daily routine and get used to you know… being human, the time just starts to fly. Only figuratively" she explained remembering how he has taken fast-food literally. "But it must suck. Being something entirely else than who you used to be."
"It is one way to put it," he said, sitting up and dusting his hair. "But in another way… it is refreshing not to be worrying about the war."
"So that's the reason why your race here and why you're… you know… dead?"
"Yes," he said. "But as I recall, we agreed on doing the cleaning up," he said changing the subject, because he still didn't feel like talking about his past.
"Yeah, the clean-up… Let's do that fast, so we can eat whatever's left of the pancakes" she said as she went for the cleaning stuff. So, their joint efforts came to fruition fast, because they ended up cleaning the kitchen in less than twenty minutes.
"So now that we did what we agreed on, I think I will eat what I had made." With that Megatron stuffed a pancake into his mouth, only earning an annoyed look from Elisabeth, who also picked one up.
"And I never again let you make pancakes." She looked at the clock on the wall, noting the time. "Also, it's just nine and I already feel so tired that I want to sleep."
"You were the one starting a war with me!" Megatron pointed angrily at her as he ate another pancake. "Also, this food is delicious! To the pits, it is so good I will eat everything that is left of it!"
"What about me?! I'm hungry too. Also sharing is caring, so give that to me!" she shouted as she suddenly snatched the pancake from Megatron's hands.
"I do not…" he started to say, but stopped mid-sentence, because he realised at that moment that he cared. He cared about Elisabeth, who managed to… make him feel. He didn't exactly know if it was good. "I do not want you to starve, so just go ahead, eat it all."
"Really? You just said you…" looked up Elisabeth at him, surprised by what he said.
"But I am willing to give up my food if it is for your wellbeing. Also, a dead woman can't guide me" he said, referencing his dream.
"Thank you" she said as her heart filled with happiness. "For caring about me." she added in her mind while she was fighting the urge to hug him.
"You are welcome, Elisabeth. But tell me, what are we intend to do today?"
"Now I have to go and do some really boring human stuff, but after that I suppose we can do something of your liking in the afternoon. As for tomorrow, we have to look for Merlin's brother Ambrose. He could help us in your pursuit of your race."
"Are you leaving me?" he asked as the thought of her leaving him was unsettling. He wanted to be with her. Just a little bit more.
"Don't sound so desperate, it's not the end of the world. Also, I can't take you with me, because you hate crowds, and humans for that matter. And I will be meeting a lot of them today."
"But what will I do without you?"
"You can use Merlin's computer to entertain yourself, or read or draw or something." But looking up to his disappointed face she almost stayed, but she knew better that those things needed to be done. "I have to go, but I promise, that when I come home, I'm all yours."
"I will keep you to it" he finally answered, letting Elisabeth dress up and go. Leaving him alone.
Elisabeth felt quite different while driving without him, but it wasn't necessarily bad. It was rather refreshing to finally be alone for a time. And she could only hope her alien companion felt the same. Because alone time is a good thing, which usually helps her to stay balanced. However, her thoughts were short lived as she arrived quite fast at The Archaeological Museum of Blackwell, where Merlin used to work as an archaeologist, digging up whatever was left by the Roman Empire. But Merlin no longer being here meant that she had to come up with an excuse in his workplace.
"Hi Beth!" came a friendly voice as one of Merlin's colleagues, also another ex-boyfriend of hers, Oliver noticed her from his usual smoking spot. "Long time, no see."
"Hi Olly, been well?" she asked, stopping right before him.
"Never better" he looked up at her with a smile on his face, while putting out the cigarette by pushing it into the wall. "Why are you here? Because if I remember correctly, you're quite a busy person."
"It's about Merlin and why he couldn't come to work lately."
"He didn't tell you about it? He's been fired a week ago, because he's been in the wrong place at the wrong time. I mean, accidentally catching your girlfriend cheating on you with your boss is not what you call good luck."
"No, he didn't because he had an accident and now has full amnesia. He doesn't even know who he is" she lied as her heart tightened by the facts that before this, her best friend's life started to go downhill and she wasn't here to help him.
"Oh, tell him that I wish him a speedy recovery. And to wander a bit off topic, I heard you will go to the winter Olympics next year. I wanted to congratulate you."
"Thanks, this means a lot to me. I mean the Olympics."
"Yeah, you wanted to be the one who represents the UK in the ladies' single since you were a schoolgirl. I remember" he chuckled as he put his hands in his pockets.
"Yes, of course you remember, I told you at least a hundred times." Elisabeth said while looking at her shoes a little bit embarrassed.
"Don't fret Beth, it's not a problem. At least to me. By the way; are you free this afternoon? We could drink a cup of coffee somewhere.
"This afternoon?" she asked back thinking. "On one hand I promised Megatron that we spend the afternoon together. On the other hand, I have been with him for two straight days and I want to be with someone else or I definitely will go crazy."
"So, are you free? I have to go back soon and…"
"No, I promised Merlin to be with him this afternoon. Sorry. Maybe another time?" she said as she decided not to break her promise to Megatron even if it's not really good for her. Although there will be plenty of time to be with someone else, so that kept the hope inside of her.
"Another time" he answered disappointed as he walked into the Museum.
Elisabeth just sighed and went to do the other things she needed. And honestly, she hoped she won't meet her other boyfriends who are keen on inviting her on a date.
"Maybe leaving Megatron wasn't a good idea after all" she murmured while getting into the car. "I almost ended up on a date with my ex… Eugh! Why did this even cross my mind?!"
