Hello and welcome to my first full Jungle Book parody. This one is a reenactment of Kaa and Mowgli's first encounter but with one simple twist. It answers the question "what if Bagheera wasn't there when Mowgli encountered Kaa?". There's nothing special about this as it's straight forward and to the point.
Kaa and Mowgli: First Encounter (without Bagheera)
Deep in the jungle, Mowgli the man cub was walking through night to find a safe place to sleep. He had recently run away from Bagheera the panther after having an argument with him about staying in the jungle or going to a nearby man village. Mowgli wanted to stay in the jungle but Bagheera wanted him to go the man village. Not wanting to go, Mowgli went his separate way and was now marching through the jungle for a place to stay the night.
"Stupid Bagheera," Mowgli complained. "I can't believe he wanted me to go to the man village. Who does he think he is? I'm not afraid. And besides, I… oh forget it. I'm too tired to think. I'd better find a place to spend the night. I'll work things out in the morning."
Mowgli soon came across a tall tree. The lowest branch was about 20 feet above him, making it the perfect place for him to sleep in safety. On impulse, he began to climb the tree the best he could. It was a bit slippery at first, but he soon got the hang of it and was able to reach the branch. Once on the branch, Mowgli settled down at the base of the branch.
"That's better," he said to himself as he grabbed onto a small branch. "If Bagheera were here, he'd tell me to get some sleep and that we had a long journey ahead of us tomorrow. Too bad for him, I'm staying in the jungle. I wouldn't last one day, yeah right."
Mowgli snapped off the branch. "I'm not afraid, and I can look out for myself."
Suddenly, something came down from the upper branches of the tree. It was a giant python named Kaa who had been watching the man cub for some time now. He watched as he climbed up the tree and was delighted that he chose his tree to sleep in of all places. He smacked his lips upon getting a better look at him. Before he advanced towards the helpless cub, he looked around to make sure that he and Mowgli were alone. Confident that the coast was clear, he made his way to the boy.
"S-S-S-Say, now," said Kaa, grabbing Mowgli's attention. "What have we here?"
Much to Kaa's surprise, Mowgli wasn't intimidated by him at all. Rather than backing away in fear, he stuck out his tong and looked away from him.
Kaa moved his head around the boy and looked him in the face once more and said, "It's a man cub."
Again, Mowgli turned away from Kaa, but the persistent snake followed his prey's face.
"A delic-i-ous man cub," said Kaa while moving his head just about Mowgli's head—his tong licking his hair—and finished with another look in his face.
"Oh, go away and leave me alone," Mowgli finally got annoyed by the snake and shoved his head out of his face, much to Kaa's surprise.
Nearby, some of the animals were trying to sleep when they heard Mowgli telling Kaa to get lost.
"Hey will you shut up," said one the animals. "We're trying to sleep here!"
"Yeah, go to sleep, Man Cub," said another animal.
Mowgli simply ignored the complaining animals as he just found them annoying. Kaa however got a brilliant idea from the complaining animals and decided that this new tactic would be much more entertaining than what he was originally going for. Nodding his head at the possibilities of this new tactic and smiling, he turned to Mowgli once more and put his plan into action.
"Yes-s-s-s, Man Cub," Kaa looked into Mowgli's eyes and began to hypnotize him slowly but surely, even started singing a bit. "Pleas-s-se, go to sleep. Please, go to sleep. S-S-Sleep little man cub… rest in peace."
Mowgli looked into Kaa's eye just as the snake's eyes began to change color in a ripple pattern. They changed from yellow to blue to green to yellow again in a never ending cycle. At first Mowgli was just intrigued, but as the ripples went on, his eyes began to reflect them in the same pattern from yellow to blue to green to yellow again, his mouth opened ajar and his eyes opened all the way. But Kaa's ripple pattern was three ripples per second while Mowgli's was one ripple per second. With each ripple that came out of Mowgli's eyes, his pupils gradually grew smaller and smaller and his mind became weaker and weaker. While using his hypnosis, Kaa moved his head in several different directions even a circular motion, his long neck giving him the ability to move his head without too much effort. Mowgli's eyes wanted to stay in contact with Kaa's eyes, forcing his head to follow Kaa's head at every turn.
As the hypnosis went on, Kaa brought his tail down from the upper branches, slithered it from behind the tree trunk and began to wrap up the boy from the waist up. He even made sure to wrap up his hands and arms as well to prevent any resistance from the boy in case he ever tried to escape his hypnosis.
By now, Mowgli's pupils were completely gone from his eyes and all he could do was stare helplessly into Kaa's eyes. By now, the ripple effect of the hypnosis and the movement of his head to stay linked with the snake's eyes were beginning to take their toll on the boy. His eyelids started to droop on him several times, but the need for sleep and the need to keep his eyes linked with Kaa's fought one another for dominance as Mowgli struggled to regain control of himself.
Kaa was both intrigued and amused by Mowgli's persistence, but he knew that the man cub was only prolonging the inevitable. So just for the sake of fun, he moved his head in closer to the man cub to give him a better view of his hypnotic eyes and enhance the trance he was under. "Sleep… S-S-S-S-Sleep…"
Suddenly, Mowgli yawned, showing that he was still somewhat conscious inside. But at this point, struggling against the snake was no use as Kaa had wrapped up the boy to his stomach and was still going up his body. Still, Mowgli did not want to become whatever it was that Kaa wanted him to become and decided to fight back. But with his arms all wrapped up, struggling to break free was no longer an option. Instead, he remembered his companion, Bagheera the panther, forgetting that he was not even there, and used the last bit of resistance he had to call out to him. "B… B… Ba… Bagheera…" *GULP!*
At the last second, Kaa squeezed his tail tightly around Mowgli's neck, making him gulp loudly and cutting off his ability to speak, or even breathe. The moment his neck was squeezed, the ripple effect in Mowgli's eyes stopped momentarily with one eye being yellow and the other being blue. Seconds later, Kaa wrapped his tail around Mowgli's neck once more, making sure his tail covered the entire neck and the ripple effect in the boy's eye picked up again. At first it was at the same pace as before, but it got faster and faster until the pattern was five ripples per second. At the same time, a helpless smile formed on Mowgli's face and his eyes opened back up all the way signaling to Kaa that the boy was now completely under his spell.
Kaa then ceased the ripple pattern in his own eyes, knowing from Mowgli's smile that his work on the man cub was complete. All that was left to do now was to move the boy's body off of the branch so he could swallow him in one go. Taking one last look at Mowgli before eating him, Kaa recalled what the man cub said when he was on the ground below.
"You'll… work things out… in the morning… hmm," Kaa asked Mowgli, echoing what he said earlier, and laughed at it. He then shook his head and told the helpless boy, "You won't be here in the morning. Will you Man Cub?"
"No, of course I won't Kaa," Kaa said in Mowgli's tone, pretending that it was Mowgli saying the words while moving his body like a doll—Mowgli himself was still hypnotized.
Kaa giggled and said, "Where will you be, Man Cub?"
"I will be in your stomach," said "Mowgli", "slowly digesting while enjoying my hypnotized state."
"Good to know, Man Cub," said Kaa while looking into Mowgli's hypnotized eyes. "Now then, let's get started."
Kaa lifted Mowgli off of the branch and wrapped one last coil around the boy, turning him around in his cocoon to a position where his face pointed at the sky above. While being turned, Mowgli's eyes closed shut and his legs stood strait next to one another in a pencil state with his feet dangling at the end. Kaa then moved his head into position, just above Mowgli's head, and opened his mouth really wide. He then started pushing the mancub into his mouth, inch by inch. As he did, he slowly unwound his coils from around the boy to ensure he did not accidentally swallow himself. The first to disappear into Kaa's mouth was Mowgli's head, then his neck, then his chest, then his stomach, then his waist, then his arms, then his hands, then his legs, then finally his feet.
Once Mowgli was completely inside, Kaa closed his mouth and swallowed the boy the rest of the way down. After swallowing Mowgli, Kaa slithered back up the tree to sleep and digest his recent meal. Once in the upper branches, Kaa looked at the big bulge in his body where Mowgli resided and decided to have one last interaction with the mancub before calling it a night.
"So… you can… look out for yourself… can you," he asked as the mancub moved to his stomach. "So… you want to… stay in the jungle… do you?
And that was my Jungle Book parody. As I mentioned, this was straight forward and to the point on what would happen if Bagheera wasn't there when Mowgli encountered Kaa. Obviously this isn't the only way this could have gone, but this outcome was the most likely, and if you believe that Mowgli could have gotten away even without Bagheera, let me know in your reviews or a PM, or just make your own story. Thank you for reading.
