"Are you even listening Gojo?!" An upset voice yelled, resonating through the small room. The room was compact, only having a few shoji screens in a circular pattern. Through them, the silhouettes of people could be made out but no features seen.
The man in the center had snow white hair currently spiked upward and was seemingly held in place by the black blindfold that he had wrapped around his eyes. He wore a dark uniform that almost took on a purplish tint. The jacket was a button up with a high collar that came up to his chin and he wore matching colored pants and black shoes.
The man was recognized throughout the jujutsu world as the strongest sorcerer alive. Gojo Satoru.
The white haired man turned his head towards the man that had shouted at him. Even with his blindfold on, anyone would be able to tell that he was completely uninterested in listening longer than he needed to.
Smiling in a way that he knew would rile them up, he replied. "Yeah yeah I'm listening. Can you get to the point already, I'd rather not be here any longer." He replied bluntly and without a care for politeness. It wasn't a secret among the jujutsu community that Gojo held no love for the higher up's.
On more than one occasion had the man publicly stated his willingness to murder each one of them. Normally, such disrespect would not go unpunished, but when dealing with the strongest sorcerer, there wasn't much they could do except do their best to keep him in line.
One of the men took a deep breath to calm himself before taking his turn to speak. "Another sorcerer has been killed, this time in Gunma prefecture. That puts the total number of sorcerers killed this month up to 8."
That bit of information brough Gojo to a pause. Why would they tell him about another death? Sorcerers die all the time whether they are killed by curse users or cursed spirits.
'Something else must be happening behind the scenes for them to call me here.' Gojo thought to himself. Eight dead in comparison to the total number of sorcerers in the world seemed like a measly number but if they were all being picked off within a certain area, that could mean there was something else going on.
"What grade were the sorcerers that were killed?" Gojo asked and then followed up again. "How many of them have been killed in total and do we have any idea who or what is killing them?"
The man who'd spoken previously coughed twice to clear his throat and spoke again.
"Three grade one sorcerers, four grade two, and one grade three." The man informed him. "As to your other questions, in total forty have been killed by this individual, all ranging from first to fourth class sorcerers. All of them have been killed by the same person."
Behind his blindfold, Gojo narrowed his eyes. "Do we have anything on this person?"
Fortunately, the higher ups proved themselves to not be completely useless this time around as they replied positively. "We do, Yaga Masamichi will brief you on all we know. All we will say now is that he must be stopped, do you understand?" The man asked.
Gojo sighed and began making his way out of the room, not bothering to respond which he knew would drive them up the wall. He had pondered for a moment snapping back at them with a witty remark about their failures but held his tongue. The last thing he wanted was for them to try to lecture him about respect they clearly didn't deserve.
Stuffing his hands in his pockets he began making his way back to the school, no doubt Itadori would be getting up soon and he'd need to formally introduce him as well as pick up their last new first year. As he walked through the scenic route on his way back, one hand came out and touched his throat for a moment.
The world's strongest couldn't help but smirk slightly at the memory of when he came closest to dying back when he was younger. The man that had almost killed him was dangerous and the higher ups were likely worried about another person like him turning up. Stuffing his hand back in his pocket he shook his head, now with limitless running constantly, he didn't have to worry about the same issues he did back then.
Just like all the others, there wasn't anything he couldn't deal with.

"That was almost too easy." A young man commented as he pulled a blade out of a now dead man's back. Being underneath an overpass at night greatly reduced visibility which made this hit one of the easiest he'd been contracted for.
The man pulling the blade out was a young blond no older than seventeen. He had spikey blond hair and currently wore an all black outfit to better camouflage himself with the darkness. He wore black chino style pants along with a short sleeve black t-shirt with no design on the front or back. Finally, he wore a high top pair of black and white shoes that had matching black check mark like designs on the white part of the shoe.
Pulling out a notepad from his back pocket and a pencil from his front one, he crossed out the name on the list and nodded to himself for another job well done. Luckily his clients had paid him in advance so he didn't have to worry about them potentially skipping out on him.
"Well, time for a nice dinner as a reward for a job well done." The young man said to himself happily.
"What are we having for dinner?" The young man's head snapped upwards towards the sound of the voice and saw a man everyone was familiar with 'looking' down at him.
"Gojo Satoru."
The man smiled and jumped down, his hands never once coming out of his pockets. His head tilted down to see the body of yet another sorcerer having met his demise.
"Well it looks like the rumors about a kid being the one to take out over forty sorcerers was true after all." Gojo said with no malice in his tone. His attention then snapped back towards the blond who's right arm was heading towards his left shoulder.
"Uzumaki Naruto." He announced, catching the blond off guard. "Born into the Kamo clan but kicked out due to not inheriting their cursed technique. You discarded your family name and took on your mothers after they were killed for defying the order to get rid of you. Unlike Kamo Noritoshi who was made heir of the clan despite being an illegitimate child, you didn't only not inherit their technique. You don't have any cursed energy at all."
The now dubbed Naruto narrowed his eyes at the man. He was sure he'd been discreet enough to complete all his jobs done without revealing anything about himself. Did one of those bastards who hired him sell him out?
Gojo saw the slight change in him and smirked. "It's uncanny how much you remind me of a certain someone." He said, his hand once again coming up to his throat. "You have a heavenly restriction but gained superhuman senses which you've combined with a high level of weapon proficiency, which is how you've been able to take out even grade one's. Would you mind answering two questions? What cursed tools are you using and you don't like gambling do you?"
Naruto scoffed at the second question and shook his head. "Gambling? I'm in the business of making money, not losing it in games where the odds are stacked against me."
"And the first question?"
This time it was the blond that smirked. His hand reached further towards his shoulder and Gojo managed to see the head of what looked like a cursed spirit begin to emerge. The curse looked like a deformed, half dead salamander. One arm settled itself on the blond's shoulder while the other took hold of the other.
The curse opened its mouth and began regurgitating a black handle. Soon more and more of the handle was revealed until the entire thing was pulled out and the white haired man couldn't help but whistle. It made a lot more sense how he was able to kill so many now. The young man pulled out a spear which had been sawed off towards the base to shorten it. The blade at the tip was long with a jagged edge along with a secondary blade laid above it with an opposite orientation.
"You have the Spear of Heaven. You wouldn't happen to have the inverted one as well would you?" Gojo asked, still unbothered by the weapon being drawn.
Naruto shook his head and fed the katana back into his cursed spirit's mouth. "No, I've been looking for it for a while. The last person who had it was Fushiguro Toji and I don't know where the man could have left it." He said with a bit of frustration.
Gojo hummed to himself. "So you're familiar with him. The two of you have a lot in common, you know, from the weapons you use down to your moniker."
The blond frowned and tilted his head in confusion.
"People have begun talking about you." Gojo said. "They're calling you the 'second sorcerer killer'." He informed.
"So they sent you here to kill me?" Naruto asked, twirling the shortened spear in his arm.
Gojo shook his head and dropped down from where he was seated, landing directly across from him. "Not exactly. They only said to stop you."
The blond made a sound of understanding and stopped the hypnotic spin of the spear, letting it settle perfectly in his hands. "I have a question for you as well, Gojo."
The man rubbed his chin and waved a hand at him to continue.
"You had a large bounty placed on you when you were born from what I know. I don't think it was ever called off, was it?" He said with a large grin. In a burst of speed, the blond appeared behind the white haired man, the spear resting against his shoulder ready to be swung.
Gojo disappeared from his spot just as Naruto had swung the spear. The man appeared a few feet away and was immediately forced to dodge left and right rapidly as the blond attempted to skewer him.
"Not bad." Gojo comments, easily avoiding the blade.
Naruto scoffed and jumped back, creating space between the two before moving once more. He dashed at him again, this time moving in a jagged path, one that wouldn't be easy to predict his movement. He moved faster than most could follow and appeared next to Gojo with the blade only centimeters from his ribs.
Unfortunately, it wouldn't be that easy. Just as he was about to get a hit in, the white haired man spun, focing the blade in a different direction and kicked the blond in the gut, sending him crashing into a stone wall. The wall cracked due to the force, causing a small tremor in the ground.
The blond pulled himself out and spat out a bit of blood before moving his grip slightly upwards on the handle. Now holding it like one would a sword, he let it rest on his shoulder and took a deep breath.
The ground where he stood shattered into pieces as he took off towards the man. The salamander-like curse resting on his shoulder spat out a small box which Naruto easily caught in his hand. Once again up close with Gojo, the blond began slicing at the man who still continued to evade the attacks with ease. His hands were still in his pockets which to the blond was completely disrespectful.
He slashed diagonally and followed up with a spin kick that was ducked under. Having the momentum on his side, he went for a straight thrust just as the man was standing back up.
Gojo stepped closer to him and with an open palm smacked the base of the spear, forcing it out of his hand and into the air. It was at that point that Gojo noticed a small box in the air being hit by the spear causing it to shatter.
'He tossed the box shortly after that first swing when I ducked and let me hit the spear so it could open.' The sorcerer thought to himself with curiosity. 'What's he planning?'
His question was answered soon enough as very small curses emerged from the box and made their way towards him. It was a small swarm of grade four curses that normally would be no issue to handle. At the moment however, it would be a bit more difficult.
The blond caught the spear during his moment of distraction and began attacking alongside the swarm. The Spear of Heaven was one of two weapons that had the ability to completely nullify cursed techniques, meaning his limitless would be useless.
The man quickly attacked a small bit of the swarm but had to tilt his head, letting the tip of the spear tear a bit of his blindfold. While continuing the attack, the blond had another box fall into his hand but this time he didn't use it instantly. After ducking under a slash, Gojo disappeared in a burst of speed and extended a hand, letting a red orb form.
"Cursed technique reversal: Red"
Knowing that attack would consume the entire area, Naruto dashed to the side while chucking the box at the opposite end of the area. The cursed technique went off in a large explosion that destroyed most of the ground as well as a large portion of the small hill that led down to them.
Using the smoke to his advantage, Naruto calmed his breathing and reached towards the mouth of the cursed spirit attached to his shoulder. Smiling to himself, the blond quickly but carefully moved around the area and waited. Once the smoke began to clear out, Gojo was seemingly the only person left.
The man glanced to the left and to the right for a moment before looking up at the night sky.
"I'm feeling a serious case of deja vu right about now." Naruto heard the man say to himself. His voice was full of mirth which pissed him off to no end. Moving forward as silently as possible, he waited until he was close enough and disappeared.
Just as his blade was an inch from the man's back, Gojo moved. Naruto's eyes widened in shock before his vision was covered by the man's hand. Gojo gripped his face and with tremendous force slammed him into the ground. The hand let him go shortly after as Naruto quickly regained his bearings and made a stab at him.
"Oh you almost had me that time." The man commented after taking a few steps back. "I have to admit that was clever, you hid in the smoke and swapped out the Spear of Heaven for a regular katana that had no cursed energy."
Naruto coughed and stood up, his legs shaking slightly as he was still disoriented from the force he'd been slammed at.
"You tried to sneak close knowing there was nothing to detect to stab me through the back. I can confidently say that would have worked against most people, maybe even Nanami." Gojo added.
The blond glared at the man and swapped weapons once more, getting the spear back in his hand. He still had one more trick up his sleeve, if this didn't do it he would have no choice but to retreat. Tapping the spirit on his shoulder, it got the message and crawled off of him making its way elsewhere.
Giving the spear a twirl he got himself into position and attacked, this time going straight at him. Gojo wasn't stupid enough to think he'd continue on that path though, and he was right. Just as he got close, he vanished.
"Where'd you go?" Gojo called out.
Suddenly, all around the area four different small boxes exploded, flooding the area with low level curses. The white haired sorcerer extended his senses but due to the amount of curses, and how well distributed they were, he couldn't focus. The swarms would bunch together and attack in waves, which proved to be useless as limitless wouldn't let them anywhere near the man.
A red orb formed on his palm again and grew in size quickly. Gojo extended his hand towards the swarm which had all gathered in front of him now and let the technique fly. At least he would have, had the spear not come flying out of the swarm aiming for his throat, instantly shutting down his cursed energy.
For the first time in the fight, Gojo was surprised. In his mind he expected Naruto to attack from behind while his attention was elsewhere. In a move that now surprised Naruto, Gojo gripped the blade with his bare hand as it passed by him.
Now that he was in contact with the blade, his cursed energy was all but gone. Taking the opportunity, Naruto let off a left hook which was also caught by the older man.
"That was pretty good kid. What now?" He asked, keeping a strong grip on both the blade and the fist.
Naruto smirked. "This."
For the second time that night, Gojo was caught off guard by what had happened. The younger man let go of the handle to the spear and threw a punch which managed to connect with Gojo's cheek. As his hand was still on the blade, the man wasn't able to call upon limitless to stop the blow. A knee to the gut shortly followed and was succeeded by Naruto getting close and trying to pin him in place.
The sound of the air being split caught Gojo's attention and he managed to twist himself just in time to avoid being impaled by the katana that the cursed spirit had shot out. In doing that, his hand had let go of the blade allowing Naruto to once again readjust his hold on it.
"Fuck." Naruto cursed angrily. "That was my one chance. How the hell did he hear it coming?"
His eyes scanned the area, looking for the most effective escape route.
While he was doing that, Gojo looked down at his pants to see a large tear in them as well as blood slowly dripping down.
"Two hits and a cut." Gojo announced out loud. "You should feel proud that you've managed to hold your own for fifteen minutes and do this much."
Before Naruto could move, Gojo appeared in front of him with a hand placed atop his head. "Hmm, are you sure you're not part of the Zenin clan? I suppose it doesn't matter though, you're one dangerous kid so I have to try a little harder."
An open palm connected with Naruto's stomach but it wasn't retracted. The buildup of cursed energy warned him something was coming but he couldn't stop it. Gojo fired a low output 'red' point blank, causing him to fly back, his cursed tools leaving his hands in an instant.
He didn't know how many times he skipped along the ground, he only felt the force of each skip until he came to a stop. His body was in pain, pain which was soon worsened by the arrival of the sorcerer who proceeded to take a seat…on his back.
The man crossed his legs leisurely while inspecting his two weapons.
"So, let me ask you something. What exactly are you trying to do with your life?" Gojo suddenly asked, his eyes never leaving the weapons in his hands.
Naruto grunted in pain and managed to turn his head so that his cheek was touching the ground and he could see the man out of the corner of his eye.
"Make a living." He replied. "That and showing the Kamo clan their technique isn't what makes someone special. I think I've done a pretty decent job up until now."
"You've definitely shown you're strong." Gojo agreed. "Who do you work for?"
Naruto didn't answer this time, causing the older man to sigh and finally look down at him. "Listen, you can answer my questions and we can possibly let you live, or you can stay quiet and I'll just kill you now."
The blond grit his teeth for a moment and then exhaled in defeat. "I'm not sure exactly who they are, all they've told me is that they're from a group called the Time Vessel Association."
Gojo frowned at the information. That group had been disbanded long ago, if it was still operating, they'd know about it.
"They hire you to kill sorcerers?"
Naruto nodded. "They give me specific targets and pay me a lot of money to do so. They're the ones that gave me the Spear of Heaven." He replied.
The man tapped his chin in thought, taking in the information. Something wasn't right, someone or multiple people had to be using the Time Vessel Association name as a cover up for whoever they really were. Deciding to think it over later, he looked down at the blond once more and made a decision.
"You gonna get off me any time soon?" Naruto asked.
Gojo shook his head. "Not yet, I still have a bit more to say. I'm gonna give you a choice."
Naruto raised an eyebrow at the declaration.
"You can die, here and now." He said, raising one finger into the air. "Or you can come with me and enroll in Jujutsu Metropolitan College."
"You want me to be a sorcerer?"
Gojo nodded. "The basic qualification needed is to see cursed spirits. Your heavenly restriction has altered your body to superhuman levels to where you can sense cursed spirits with your five senses. You're already qualified."
Seeing as Naruto had yet to answer, the man continued. "Let me ask another question, do you have any friends?"
Silence.
"No, you have clients. Do you have anyone you can turn to when you need them? There's more to life than making money. You're just a kid, you shouldn't be worried about making money to get by. At least if you join me you can meet people who see you as more than just an employee. Everyone dies alone, you might as well have someone around you while you have the chance."
Naruto tried to think of anyone that he could say was a friend but his mind was turning up blank. There was no one he could truly consider a friend, as sad as it was to say perhaps the only person that had been with him was his cursed spirit that held his tools.
"So what's it gonna be? Death or start as a second year?" The man asked once more.
Not much of a choice, he thought. Naruto sighed. "How do I know they won't just kill me the moment I get there?"
The older man smiled, as if he was expecting that question. "Trust me. As long as I'm around, they won't do anything to you. So what do you say? Not a bad deal right?"
Naruto was about to respond when something popped into his mind. "You guys have Playful Cloud don't you?"
Gojo smiled and nodded.
"Can I use it?"
"As long as you're one of us, I can make it happen." Gojo responded. Naruto smirked, that was one of the special grade weapons he'd wanted to get his hands on but it was out of reach. It looked like something good would come out of this at least.
"Fine."
Finally, Gojo stood up allowing the blond to get up. He stretched, wincing slightly from the pain in his gut. Out of his peripherals he saw something coming his way and instinctively caught the Spear of Heaven in one hand and the katana with the other. A few minutes later, both tools were stored within the cursed spirit that was once again attached to him.
The two men made their way out of the area and began walking while Gojo made a call for someone to pick them up. As they waited in the designated spot, Naruto couldn't help but ask about something that was on his mind.
"Gojo." He called out. "How did you know I was going for the back stab?"
"Fushiguro Toji pulled that same trick a few years ago. He managed to do it. Your technique and strategy are exactly like his so it wasn't hard to guess you would try something like that."
It all came down to experience it seemed.
As if reading his mind, Gojo continued. "Had I not seen something like that before, you maybe would have had a chance."
The two stayed silent after that until their ride arrived. The man driving was friendly enough, probably because he didn't know who he was. After being reassured by Gojo that everything would be fine, he relaxed into the car seat and took a breather.
He watched the buildings pass by from the window, wondering exactly how things would go now that he was a student.

Naruto woke up the next day and looked around quickly, not recognizing where he was until the events of the previous night caught up to him. Looking down at his bandaged chest he sighed and looked over at the uniform that was hung up on the wall along with a note telling him where to go and what time.
'Might as well get ready' He thought.
After a brief shower he grabbed the uniform which consisted of black pants similar to the ones he wore and a white jacket with a single button on the upper left hand side of his chest that kept the jacket closed. Slipping on his shoes, he opened the door and made his way down the halls as per his instructions.
When he finally made it to the door in question, he could hear the man explaining how someone new would be joining them before telling him to come in.
Sliding the door open he stood in front of a trio with Gojo to his right.
"Everyone, this is our new second year Uzumaki Naruto."
"Yo."
