Chapter 6: Confession.

- … There, I said it. – Lola thought to herself after carefully looking for answers on her heart, to explain the need to create hard scenarios for her own brother to come and see her instead of engaging with any other sister in the house… or even his revolting female friends. The truth is… that she couldn't help it!? Something really painful pulsated at her heart the moment he went on to talk to any other girl in the house, especially if he did it instead of going to her room to play with her or tell her stories, it just…

It hurts, it freaking hurts.

Lola, however, quickly realized the mistake that she had made, as Lincoln quickly change his face from the compassionate prince that she admired so dearly, to the deeply shocked and disturbed face of a mad man. Noticing this, she saw herself cornered and became desperate to soothe him, perhaps he got the wrong idea of what she was trying to express?

- W-wait Lincoln! I didn't mean to say that, I was just trying to explain to myself why I became so extreme at "that", trust me! I changed for the best, I don't want you to stop hanging around with the others if that's what makes you happy, and I promise I'll stop doing that! – The princess said, resolute on her promise, but didn't realize her teary eyes, she probably started crying at the sheer emotional intensity of just imagining her brother being weirded out or grossed out at her. The white haired boy, of course, noticed the emotion as she poured in the words to "undo" her unnerving declaration, which made him soften up, looking at her eyes again and pulling her closer for another hug.

- There there, it's alright Lols, it's just… you know, that sounded a little weird and I was just caught off guard by it, I didn't realize how much it affected you when I played with the girls without inviting you, I mean, for years, you had always acted as if I, and all others around you, were nothing but… "servants", to you, so I just assumed you had much better things to do than to hang out with us, especially with me, I know that you've changed ever since, but old habits die hard! Sorry about that, I mean it. – Lincoln kindly said to Lola while rubbing her head as she was done sobbing in his chest, expecting her to forgive him as well.

… But he couldn't shake that nagging feeling away, maybe, he had willingly decided to remain ignorant of unwanted implications, if only to avoid his growing suspicions from creating an unnecessary distance between him and his redeemed princess.

- It's ok Linky, I forgive you too! – Lola said while raising her head from Lincoln's chest to give him the biggest smile she could possibly muster.

While it is true that Lincoln completely missed the mark of what she actually meant by the things she told him, she actually found herself glad that he did, as it would have probably made things even more awkward between the two and even make him stay away from her entirely! Plus, it was nice to have him apologize to her as well, pretty much in line of what she wanted this whole conversation to be originally about, especially if that meant that he would find more time to spend with her or to let her join him while talking to the others, not that she actually cared about spending time with her other sisters, except for Lana and maybe Leni.

That said, another thing that bothered Lola beyond belief, was the fact that Lincoln had just confessed to her that he felt particularly ignored and dismissed from her old self, a thing that she was going to address right now.

- mmm… Linky, just so you know, if I ever acted as if you didn't matter to me, I want to say sorry for that too! The truth is… I always cared about you, even if I didn't show it, I cared about everyone in my family! – Lola said sternly while never breaking eye contact with Lincoln.

- In fact, thorough this whole year, despite being a terrible sister around you, you always stuck by my side and made me feel better every time you could, you helped me find joy in reading instead of blaming me for losing that contest, you always supported me and helped me in my pageant dream, you thought about me even at the cost of not appearing in the school calendar… dang it! you even bought me the best present in the house for Christmas! –

Lola then closed her eyes and turn her head sideways while resting on Lincoln's chest, listening to his heartbeat, she took a long breath before spilling the rest of her heart on to him.

- And it's because of that, Lincoln Loud, that you're the best brother a sister could ever ask for, you have my respect and my admiration, you're my role model, the type of person I aspire to be when I grow up – Lola decided to look up at his face once again, his expression unreadable, but she didn't care, as she continued.

- So you can bet that I care about you! I care about you so much in fact, I care about you more than I care for Lana! – Lola exaltedly finished her confession, looking at her dear brother with eyes full of determination and resolve.

Lincoln sat there, looking at the small blonde sister sitting in his lap with wide eyes , perhaps amazed, perhaps shocked, perhaps even… scared!? As he processed the intensity of her words, but also, at who those words belonged to, Lola Loud, the self-centered, bratty sister that he's know all his life, just announced that he was her role model… and the single person that she cared about the most, even over her inseparable twin sister. Sufficed to say, the albino was at a loss of words, perhaps from this point on, he had to consider that this new Lola, was here to stay, and that for better and for worse, she was looking to become his favorite sister, would he be able to make a decision though? That's not something that he could think about, as he simply stared at his sister for what felt Like hours, with nothing but the sound of snoring and… angry snakes and mice?

- Well, I guess I already told you everything I needed to tell you… so… Good bye Linky, I gotta go back to my room to feed those… friends of Lana – Lola said calmly without waiting for Lincoln to say anything in response to her outburst, as she released herself from her brother's unmoving grasp and took a step out of the bed.

She was just glad that she was able to speak her mind and release all of her contained emotions and frustrations, so even if Lincoln didn't have anything to say to address said feelings, she was glad that he at least knew. She was now out of the bed and walking towards the semi open door that led back to the dark hall, but the moment she touched the doorknob…

- Wait! - Lincoln yelled from behind her

- Huh? – Lola exclaimed as she turned around to face him once more.

- Lana is outside, so after you go feed her pets… – Lincoln said while rubbing the back of his head, Lola watching intently.

- … You can stay with me tonight if you want

- did he say that for real!? – Lola thought while looking directly at Lincoln, eyes wide open, he looked genuine, with a reassuring smile in his face, she honestly didn't even realize it, bur her lips started to quiver on their own, forming the biggest smile she had ever mustered to anyone, even the harshest of judges at pageants, probably because of how genuine it was, as it also took a lot of willpower from herself to resist the temptation of screaming so loud that she would actually wake up Mr. Grouse.

- I-I'll be back...! – Lola quietly but excitedly told Lincoln before closing the door to go back to the dark hallway, not caring in the slightest about the silent atmosphere or the dreadful task ahead as all she could think about was how excited she was to be able to stay with her beloved brother for a whole night.

Without any more hesitation and now officially in a good mood, Lola quickly entered her room and directed her attention at the angry and loud snakes, rats, lizards, whatever… You name it? Lana probably has taken care of one. Lola takes a big breath before proceeding to grab the incredibly detailed instruction manual found at the side of her bed on regards to the specific wants and feeding patterns of each of her pets. – Dang, she is worse than Lisa with this – Lola thinks as she proceeds to handle the many seeds, pet concentrate and… meat samples? (gross!) that Lana keeps at her disgusting side of the closet. Lola also tries (big emphasis on "tries"), to remember each by name while calling them.

While doing the job with almost scientific accuracy (thanks in part to this one not really being the first time that she's forced to feed them), Lola can only sight and try to look at positives, for one, at least she doesn't have to deal with Hops, - That frog has a real vendetta against me I swear – Lola visibly cringes at the thought of feeding Lana's favorite pet, which on many occasions had been prone to spitting everything that Lola gave him in her beautiful face.

Leaving past grievances aside, Lana's other pets are not as hard as Hops to her, even the dangerous snakes were relatively easy to deal with once you keep a fair distance to bring food to the floor near their hiding place, so Lola allows herself to wander about Lincoln's conversation as she finishes her task.

- Was it really that weird? – Lola thinks about Lincoln's shocked reaction following the strong and meaningful words that came from her mouth, as she herself lacks the emotional maturity to comprehend what exactly made him that upset to her wanting him to spend more time with her.

Just with her…

- Could I actually make sense of these feelings by spending time with him tonight? – Lola asks herself, unsure of what to do once she gets back in his room, with only one thing for certain in her mind.

She's not going to sleep right away.

So, once fulfilling the task set by her twin, Lola proceeds to put on her pijamas and heads to Lincoln's Room, opening the door, expecting to see him asleep or something.

Instead, she finds him reading something, surely something Ace Savvy related, then she proceeds to make her presence known to him by almost whispering.

- Linky, I'm here! –

- Lola! Here come over, I made you a free spot – Lincoln happily says by encouraging his little sister to lay by his side on the right side of the bed while putting down his reading material to the side of his nightstand.

- Of course you do! – Lola sassily replies back while walking in a feminine fashion to her reserved spot, and by the time she gets to see the reading material that her brother was holding from closer, she has a sudden realization, one that could potentially increase the fun of the night tenfold.

It wasn't an Ace Savvy comic.
