REVIEW REPLIES:

Summer: Hi there! Glad that you found it interesting! This will probably turn out pretty different from the movie, since the circumstances are pretty different, but I'm glad that you liked it!

Zack: I know, right? I can't believe that it hasn't been done yet, tbh. A lot of Rapunzel's hobbies aren't really stuff that Artemis would like, but a few of them fit really well, so it's not really very hard to adapt them a bit(while adding one or two new ones as well). I live for Minerva as a cat, I have no idea why, I just feel like Minerva really gives of a sort of… cat vibe. Opal is actually surprisingly similar to Gothel when you think about it. Like, the whole 'mommy' thing she had going on with the Berserkers just to patronize them and all that. Their personalities are pretty similar too. Yep, Artemis is definitely bored, and there's nothing more dangerous than a bored genius….Anyway, thanks for letting me know what you think, and I hope you enjoy this chapter!

Meanwhile, in Haven...

"Myles!" groaned 11 year old Prince Beckett, "I'm bored!"

Myles looked up from his book, adjusting his glasses as he frowned silently at his brother.

Beckett continued, not letting Myles get a word in, "Let's do something fun for once."

Myles rolled his eyes, but shut his book all the same, deciding instead to humor his twin, "Well Beck, what do you propose we do? We have the day off, after all. We can do anything we please."

Beckett, who had been strewn upside down on Myles' bed, rolled over, propping himself up on his elbows, "Let's sneak out!" he suggested.

"...Anything but that."

"But Myles!" the blond haired boy whined, "We haven't left the palace in years! Don't you want to go outside and have some fun for once?"

"Don't be ridiculous, brother mine." Myles scoffed, "Even if we did leave the palace, where would we go? Besides, I have no doubt that you remember what happened the last time we tried to leave the palace unsupervised."

"We could go on an adventure." Beckett replied, deciding to ignore the last part of Myles' statement.

"Of course we could, Beckett." Myles answered absent-mindedly, already turning his attention back to the book in front of him, "But where exactly do you expect to find an adventure to go on?"

Suddenly the two boys jumped to the their feet, hearing a commotion coming from outside.

"The lost prince's crown has been stolen!" they heard someone yell.

"There's one." Beckett whispered, both boys standing stock still, listening in shock to the yelling and screaming coming from outside Myles' bedroom.

Today was supposed to be Holly's day off.

She was supposed to be heading home early, and spending the rest of the day curled up on her bed reading, or maybe going to watch some of the local children play a game of crunch-ball.

She had been ready to leave when the alarm was sounded. She had already waved goodbye to Trouble Kelp, one of her closest (and only) friends at the palace. By some miracle, she had even managed to get through her shift without befalling the wrath of her commanding officer, Julius Root.

All in all, her day had been going pretty well, at least, it had been until someone stole the lost prince's crown.

"After him!" Commander Root aka 'Beetroot' ordered, his face turning as red as, well, a beetroot, "You too, Short!" he added, stopping her before she could make her way to the exit.

"But Commander-"

"No buts, Short." Root declared firmly, "Duty calls."

"Yes sir." she grumbled, grabbing a knife and following her fellow guards into the forest.

"Who are we dealing with?" Holly asked the person standing next to her, panting as their troop raced into the forest in search of the culprit.

"Jon Spiro." answered the person in question, who(unfortunately) turned out to be Chix Verbil, "Nasty piece of work."

"Trust me," Holly gritted her teeth, "I know."

After all, everyone knew Jon Spiro. A notorious criminal and former spy, Spiro was known for being ruthless and cunning. Holly had heard rumors that Spiro and the king had, well... a complicated history, and some even whispered that Spiro was the reason the lost prince was, well, lost. Holly had never been one for believing wild rumors, but considering the fact that Spiro was currently trying to steal the prince's crown, those whispered rumors seemed like they could hold a grain of truth.

"Split up!" Root commanded, "Try to cover as much ground as possible."

The soldiers obeyed, each one heading in a different direction. Holly looked around aimlessly, looking for some sort of clue. Anything, that could help them find the crown in time for the lantern festival tomorrow.

Right... the lantern festival. Holly had never given the lost prince more than a pitiful thought, despite the fact that one of her friends, Juliet Butler, served as a nanny/bodyguard to the boy's younger brothers. But right now, her heart went out to the royal family. It was probably killing them to know that their missing son/brother's crown had been stolen a day before his birthday. That was just plain cruel.

Suddenly, Holly was snapped out of her musing by the sound of whispering coming from nearby. Quietly, Holly stepped closer to the bushes, where she could've sworn the noise was coming from.

Holly reached into the bush, trying to grab hold of anyone who might've been hiding there. Although the only thing she found was a bird's nest, she couldn't shake the feeling that she had felt warm breath on her skin, for just a moment.

Holly groaned, stumbling away from the bushes, and tugging at her hot, stuffy, green uniform. She leaned back against what appeared to be a wall covered in vines, too hot and tired to continue her search.

She fell backwards with a shriek, as the moss gave way to some sort of tunnel. Taking one last look around to make sure that no one else was watching her, Holly stepped into the cool shade of the tunnel, and slowly made her way to the other side.

You never know where a criminal could be hiding, after all.

"This," Myles panted as he chased after his brother, "Is a terrible idea!"

Beckett slowed down to a jog, rolling his eyes at his brother, "No it's not."

"Yes it is!" Myles argued, "We should be at home! Inside! Where there are no criminals on the loose!"

"Come on, Myles," Beckett groaned, "Stop worrying. We're doing the right thing! Mum and dad are heartbroken, and the only way to cheer them up is to get the crown back by tomorrow!"

"They're going to be even more heartbroken if they find out we're gone." Myles tried, "Mother and Father will jump to conclusions, and will be left even more worried than before."

Beckett shook his head stubbornly, "I left a note. It'll be fine."

Myles groaned, doubling over and clutching his side, "This is madness, Beckett."

Beckett frowned, waiting impatiently for his twin to recover, "Our brother's crown is missing, Myles. It's our job to get it back."

"No it's not! It's the job of the several people who are out there searching for it as we speak!"

Beckett pulled Myles back to his feet, dragging him forward, "This is our one chance to actually do something for once, Myles. All the guards are busy trying to find the thief. When else will we get such a brilliant opportunity to sneak out and go on an adventure?"

Myles faltered, "This is a highly risky venture."

"You'll finally get to put those brains of yours to good use," Beckett urged, "just like you've always wanted. We can be detectives."

Myles sighed, admitting defeat, "Fine."

Beckett pumped a fist into the air, "Yes! Adventure here we come!"

Beckett's victory was short-lived.

They had been able to sneak out of the castle easily because all the guards had rushed off to chase the thief. Unfortunately, it hadn't occurred to the two boys that, by trying to apprehend the criminal themselves, they were heading right back towards the guards.

Beckett, who had always been more attuned to his surroundings, was the first to hear the sound of approaching footsteps. Before Myles could start to protest, he dragged the two of them into a nearby bush.

"Beck!" Myles hissed, only to be silenced by his brother, who had to slap a hand over Myles' mouth to stop him from voicing his complaints.

Hardly a moment later, the clearing was swarmed by a troop of castle guards. The twins watched with bated breath as the guards spread out, each one walking away to search a different part of the clearing.

"That's it!" Myles whispered, "We're doomed! We'll be caught and taken back to the palace, mother and father will be furious, and-"

"Shh!" Beckett hissed, "We won't get caught if we keep quiet."

But the damage had been done. Immediately, someone approached their bush suspiciously, sticking their hand in, trying to find someone.

Myles almost screamed as the hand appeared in front of his face. Beckett slapped a hand across his mouth again and pulled his brother further away from the groping hand. The two boys remained in that position for what seemed like hours, the two of them bunched together, with Myles almost lying on top of Beckett. Eventually, the hand retreated, and they released a breath that neither of them had realized they had been holding.

Cautiously, Beckett peered through the bushes, watching in amazement as the guard fell through what appeared to be a solid wall.

"Myles!" he whispered, "Look over there!"

Myles obliged, watching intently as guard pulled back the vines covering the wall to reveal some sort of tunnel.

"A secret passageway!" Beckett breathed, practically vibrating with excitement.

"We don't know that it's a secret passageway." Myles protested, "It could be a regular passageway. Besides, it's more of a tunnel than a passageway."

Beckett shook his head as much as he could from inside a bush, "It's definitely a secret passageway." he said solemnly, "It just feels... mysterious."

Beckett started to crawl out of the bush, "Come on!" he beckoned, "Let's follow that guard!" he said, gesturing towards the retreating figure of the mysterious guard.

"Are you crazy? This is our opportunity to sneak back home unseen! We just escaped from the guards! Why would we follow one?" Myles demanded.

He sighed, grabbing Beckett's arm, "Beck, let's go another way, at least, if you really want to go on an adventure." he pleaded, "I have a bad feeling about this place."

Beckett merely smiled at his brother, "That's how you know that it's an adventure." he stated, crawling out of the bush and quietly disappearing into the tunnel.

Myles let out a dramatic groan, "Why does my brother have to be such a simpleton?" he grumbled softly, clumsily following his twin into the tunnel.

Me trying to cram as many Artemis Fowl characters into this as possible: Um... does the series really have any memorable villains other than Opal?

My brain: Jon Spiro, umm... that's all I can think of right now.

Me: Eh, good enough.

Next chapter is back to Artemis and we finally get to see 'Mother Opal' in action!
