Oooooh this is not good.

Please select what type of evil overlord you shall be!

I cross a leg over my other as I sit in a massive throne.

This is not good at all.

A tremendous list appears before me, listing numerous backstories and villainous archetypes.

I blankly scroll through it with one hand, wondering idly how everything went wrong.

I was just a normal dude, a little sociopathic maybe. Apparently, I died in my sleep and was granted the ability to become an evil overlord... in DXD.

A world with gods, god killing weapons, devils who are all 'slavery is badass', THE GREEK GODS! It's an absolute MESS! And want to know the best part?

I am going to be put five hundred years before the series.

FIVE HUNDRED YEARS!

I'll be long since dead by the time canon rolls around!

Thief:
Perks:
Basic Thieving Skills such as stealth, pickpocketing, and lock picking.
Increased learning speed for new things.
Easier Quests and progression.
Lower Priority for most people should you be discovered. (This can change depending on how powerful you may become)
Flaws:
No significant backing.
No starting skills are inherently very powerful or even 'attack skills'.
No 'Starting Base'
Significantly weaker starting body. (Compared to others on this list)

Bandit Follower:
Perks:
Free Base of operations
Basic Equipment
Basic Fighting skills
Significantly Increased learning speed for new things.
Slightly improved learning speed for things you already know.
Flaws:
You must follow the orders of a randomly selected bandit. Otherwise, they may just kill you.
No starting skills are inherently very powerful.
Significantly weaker starting body. (Compared to others on this list)

Ancient Evil: (Dragon)
Perks:
Free cave base
Stronger base body
Basic Elemental Magic
Flaws:
Highly Susceptible to Dragon Slaying Weapons.
Harder Quests and Progression, typically requiring you to bring numerous towns or cities under your control to even complete a single quest.
As an 'Ancient Evil' you are granted another randomly generated crippling weakness aside from dragon slayer magic which is foretold in ancient scrolls, such as mistletoe, wheat, or obsidian.
Your existence is known, but forgotten to the world at large. Historians or longer-lived races may remember you however.
Your strength is barely even a percent of what it originally was in the 'ancient text' due to your long hibernation.

Demon King:
Perks:
Strong body
Ability to call on numerous monster races to serve under you.
A starting Ancient Castle base
Great starting abilities.
Flaws:
Holy magic and light magic are far more effective against you.
Harder Quests and Progression
A reincarnate with equally bullshit abilities will be summoned to duke it out with you.
Numerous gods may try to spell your downfall, be it by duking it out with you or by offering blessings to the 'hero'.

Cultist:
Perks:
One randomly selected, starting 'Dark Magic' at an apprentice level.
Free decrepit cave base
Flaws:
No significant backing.
Overall power is proportional to your faith in the thing you are worshiping.

Necromancer:
Perks:
Necromancy starting magic
'Graveyard' starting base.
Flaws:
Undeath Aura causes living creatures to immediately dislike you.
Harder Quests and Progression
Holy orders will begin hunting you down the second they hear anything about undead.

I let out a long sigh as my eyes skim the list.

I guess this is my life now.

The problem with most of these... is that I have to be a BAD guy.

Mildly sociopathic as I may be, I don't really see a need to go around tormenting people. It doesn't get me off. I don't get any form of satisfaction from it. It's just... a waste of time.

Also, being evil is a good way to get the shit beat out of you by the protagonists.

Fallen God of destruction.
Perks:
Incredible Potential
No need to eat, drink, sleep, or even Breathe.
Gain Power dependent of the faith of your followers
Slightly above average starting physical ability.
Flaws:
You start at a 'near death' state with a grace period, losing a majority, if not all, of your powers, if you cannot convince someone that you are a god within 7 days you will die.
Should all of your followers die, you will as well.

Not all of these are very good... I should probably pick something that doesn't give me horrid penalties off the bat.

Second Coming of Lucifer:
Perks:
Incredible Potential
Devil Magic
Overpowered 'Clan Trait'
Flaws:
Everything and everyone will be out to kill you.

Demon king is right out. I don't want a second reincarnate to show up... picking any of the 'ancient evils' require me to have a singular random crippling weakness ranging from stakes to the heart to salt.

Just imagine! I get unlucky on what my weakness is and now I can't eat salt or pepper on anything or else I'd die!

Also, those two imply that I have to be well and truly evil. As do Necromancer.

There is a way to be 'evil' without having the main characters out to murder you, however...

It's quite simple.

I scroll back up and pick 'thief'.

You just have to be an extremely likable anti-hero thief.

Thief doesn't really mean I have to be a bad dude that stabs babies and grandmas... it just means I have to steal things!

Preferably from bad guys while mocking the heroes the whole time.

Please Note: you may upgrade your skills at will, provided you complete the quests given.

'it appears the flaw was true, these aren't combat skills.'

I guess if I am found out, I'm fucked anyways, so I guess it doesn't matter.

My vision begins to darken. 'wh- what the hell?'

Initializing insertion

With a dull flash I am suddenly elsewhere, a dark and groady forest path, after a swift look-over of the items on my person, I realize a couple things firstly, all I have are the leather clothes on my back and a rucksack...

Second off... I look different according to a nearby puddle.

A teen with pale skin stares back, he has dark black hair that goes over one eye, he has a dark circle under his revealed eye which is blackish in color.

I run a hand through my hair and let out a quiet sigh. 'first things first... I need to upgrade my stealth.'

Well...

Shit.

Let's get this over with.

I move through the wheat with practiced ease, body low to the ground.

Sneaking into villages, has done wonders for my quests.

"He's in there somewhere! Find the bastard!"

In my hand is a sack of coins, my subtle movements not enough to cause it to jingle.

The moon overhead has posed some problem for myself, but overall, not too bad.

I drop to the floor, rolling to the side and using my brown cloak to blend into a small trench in the earth.

"This way! He couldn't have gotten far!" I hear a man shout as rough footsteps march past my hiding place.

I hold my breath for a moment, then glance up, seeing a figure with a torch a good forty feet ahead of me and rapidly moving away.

I slowly get up and cut towards the left, creeping through the wheat stalks with a grin on my face.

The second I escape from these fuckers, this money will become 'mine'… and my first class quest shall be completed.

I reach the edge of the wheat field and dive over the path that snakes over towards a nearby village, I slide down the slight hill on the other side and hop over a small babbling brook.

I continue on my path, making sure to stay out of any mud I can see, eventually after a good ten minutes of sneaking through the forest.

A quest has been completed!

Stealth has ranked up!

Thieves by definition are always on the lookout for those shiny, shiny coins, secret compartments and supernatural swag. This skill grants you a 5% chance to automatically sense secret doors, hiding places, and valuables hidden in plain sight that you may have missed as long as they pass within five feet of your body. This skill is required to be toggled, granting you 30 seconds to potentially detect numerous valuables before going on a 10 minute cooldown

With my new understanding of currency... I have found that I am pretty rich.

Five pence can get me a room for a day at an inn, breakfast, lunch, and dinner included.

A Quest has been Received:

'hn. Might as well get on with it. The nearest fief is calling my name.'

"Oh shit oh shit oh shit." I whisper under my breath as I sprint through the forest.

*CRASH*

An entire log flips through the air as I pivot around the trunk of a tree.

Splinters and shards of wood pepper my back as a twelve-foot tall, bulky, fat, green monsters far faster than it has any right to be lumbers after me.

I whirl around the tree, reaching into the baggy sleeve of my overcoat.

A revolver finds its way into my grasp.

The hammer is pulled back and all six shots are swiftly shot at the ogre's face.

His head snaps back as he staggers backwards, one of his large feet slip in the mud, causing the green skinned fat humanoid to crash down on a nearby stump with a sickening crack as its spine bends awkwardly.

I let out a long calming breath as I slowly unload the shell casings and slip them one after another into my sleeve.

It has been roughly two years since I have come to this world.

And those two years have been hell.

I pull fresh bullets out of my sleeve and quietly reload the revolver and slip it into my sleeve yet again.

Throughout my life, I have stolen quite a bit. I got skills. I've got powers that COULD seem supernatural.

But overall? I'm just a regular human who has a gun a couple hundred years before it should reasonably exist.

Those six shots were far more expensive than you realize. I have to make them- obviously.

Every time I want to make a new set, I have to go take a trip to a volcano to grab some sulfur, saltpeter, and make some charcoal...

One of these tasks are not like the others.

Finding out where two of those materials are located was what I spent a majority of my time on.

Anyways, I have to fix the casings, with every bullet I have to spend a few hours filing down a cilinder of metal into a conical shape, it's really just a task and a half for even a singular bullet.

I pull out a dagger and begin slowly beheading the beast laying dead before me. An ogre, as previously stated.

This bad boy has been tormenting a nearby village for the past two years.

I simply decided to step in and stop him.

I probably could have killed him with a single shot, but I didn't want to risk my fleshy- extremely weak- body.

I let out a long sigh as I pull a large empty sack from my sleeve then stuff the head inside.

Pov: elsewhere.

"Does this pathetic human truly have King Arthur's dagger?" A white haired man whispers to his compatriot as they silently creep through the long halls of the keep.

A lord in the human world had been bragging about how he had attained the

"That is what the man said. Though I truly doubt it. It is perhaps just a magical dagger that the fool mis-labeled... however, if it is Carnwennan we will certainly get rewarded, so it is for the best that we check these things." The other, a black haired man replies as they confidently step through the halls.

**This is where I stopped writing**

Hi, all, this is just something I briefly had an idea on. It really didn't last long, though.

I hope you all enjoyed it.
