A/N: Thank you for the awesome reviews! I appreciate them so much!
Beca didn't go up to their bed that night. She instead went to the guest bedroom on the first floor, the one that rarely got used because the guest room on the second floor had an ensuite bathroom. She carefully climbed into the bed, and laid back, opening her phone and mindlessly scrolled through her social medias, replying to a few fans and trying not to think about what had happened that night.
It had taken her a while to clean up all the glass from not only the table she fell on but the glass Aubrey had been drinking out of that she smashed on the floor. She was able to get the blood stain almost completely out of the carpet, using a portable carpet cleaner that she forgot they had. It had been on their wedding registry, so she had no idea who actually gifted it to them, but she was thankful now.
It was nearly three in the morning by the time she was feeling tired enough to set her phone down, and she tucked herself into the bed, being careful not to put any pressure on her hand. At the moment, she couldn't move three of her fingers, without searing pain shooting through the gash. She didn't know what she was going to do if she had nerve damage. She was left-handed, and while she could do a lot with her right hand, it wouldn't be the same.
She once again fell asleep, to thoughts about what her life had become. It happened so fast. But, isn't that how it always goes when it comes to domestic violence? Everything is fine one minute, you're happily married, then the next you're on the floor and your spouse standing above you with fire in their eyes and a clenched fist.
She was once again plagued by nightmares.

She woke up the next day, confused and in pain. The room was light, and she reached for her phone, to see that she had slept in. It was almost twelve in the afternoon. She sighed, setting her phone down and lifted her hand, looking at the bandaging. She had been sent home with multiple rolls of gauze so she could change the bandage once or twice a day. She flexed her fingers slightly and felt a burning pull where the stitches were. She could feel the dried blood itching her skin and decided she should get up and clean and change the gauze.
Making her way out of the guest room and going down the hall toward the kitchen where she was pretty sure she dropped the bag of bandages the night before, she realized the house was silent. She looked at the white board they kept by the back garage door. Aubrey wasn't home, and had left a note.
She shook her head sadly as she read it.
Gone to pick up Chloe. Be back later. Love you.
Well, so much for the surprise. She thought as she erased the message and walked back over to the counter and picked up the bag of gauze before making her way up the stairs and into their bathroom.

Figuring now that Aubrey knew Chloe was coming, and taking it upon herself to pick her up, Beca decided she would go into the label and work from there. Knowing that Aubrey would want alone time with her best friend anyway. Chloe and Beca were close, practically sisters, but even so, Aubrey and Chloe had grown up together. She knew they needed their time alone and she was more than happy to give it to them.
Feeling bad for having a car pick her up the night before, she decided she could probably manage to drive her own car, as long as she didn't put too much strain on her hand. She got her stuff ready and before she walked out of the house, she wrote a note on the Whiteboard for Aubrey.
Gone to the label. You girls have fun. See you later.

"So, how are you and Beca doing?" Chloe asked as she blew on her freshly poured cup of coffee.
Aubrey smiled. "We are doing really well. She has some good news about work, I will let her tell you though." She said as she sat on the chair across from Chloe.
They were back at home, on the back patio drinking coffee and catching up. Aubrey had picked her up and returned home to find Beca gone and in her opinion a very snotty message on the board. She didn't say anything however.
"Is it about the Billie Eilish album?" Chloe asked excitedly. "Is she getting an award?"
Aubrey chuckled. "No, that album won't be up for any awards until next year probably, and she didn't do that much with it, so I doubt she will be nominated for it."
Chloe raised her eyebrows. "Damn, Bree. That's a little harsh."
Aubrey took a sip of her coffee shaking her head as she put the cup down.
"No, we have already talked about it, Beca is the one that said that, she knows more about all that stuff."
"Oh." Chloe said, believing her lie.
"I kind of thought she would have made sure to work from home today, knowing you were coming. I'm sorry the surprise got ruined. She has been so busy with work and whenever she is asked to do something for her boss, she does it. That's why she told me, and asked me to pick you up." She lied again, bringing her coffee up to her lips.
Chloe shrugged. "It's not a big deal. I'm just glad to be here." She spoke. "I'm glad she is getting to do what she loves, isn't it amazing how far she has come from when we first met her. She was confident in her art, but so easily knocked down. I'm so happy to see that she doesn't let anything stop her now."
Aubrey smiled. "She sure doesn't." She spoke. "Also, she had a little fall last night, she had a bit too much to drink and tripped in the living room, she broke one of the glass end tables and cut her hand pretty bad. I rushed her to the hospital, and she needed about thirteen stitches. Don't make a big fuss about it, when she gets home, she is super embarrassed about it."
Chloe looked at her in shock but nodded. Believing another lie.

"Beca?"
Beca looked up from her laptop to see Kate was standing in the doorway of her studio, a file folder in her hand.
"Hey Kate." She smiled. "Come on in, I was just finishing up a few emails with Billie's Agent." She said hitting a few more keys on her laptop before closing it.
Kate walked in and gave her a concerned look. "What happened to your hand?"
Beca looked down. "Oh," She laughed. "I tripped over the edge of a rug and went right through the glass top of one of our end tables. Thirteen stitches." She said lifting it slightly, but not meeting Kates eyes.
"I hope its okay, I called a car to take me to the hospital, I couldn't drive and Aubrey was… She had been drinking, so she couldn't drive."
Kate shook her head. "No, that's fine. I'm glad you had a way to the hospital. Is it going to heal, okay?"
"Possible nerve damage. I can really only move my thumb and pinky right now."
"Damn, that's rough." She spoke. "I'm sorry to hear that."
"Its all good." Beca smiled, but it didn't reach her eyes. If Kate noticed she didn't mention it.
"You're still interested in taking over for me, right?" Kate asked.
Beca nodded. "Absolutely. I'd be honored."
"That's good." Kate smiled. "I have a few documents here, contracts actually."
Beca nodded taking the folder that was being offered to her. "Just a few things, stating you are taking over, and what your responsibilities are. Recognizing that you will need to be here at the label more often."
Beca nodded. "Yes, about that. I didn't get a chance to really talk to you about it, it happened so fast. Aubrey and I are trying to get pregnant. I was inseminated on Tuesday, and I will be taking a test in about a week to see if it worked. If so, once the baby is born, I will need to work from home primarily."
"Congratulations. Uh, with that, you will get a three-month maternity leave, but as head of the Label it will be really important for you to be here. You will be the face of Rosebud, and you won't really be able to be that if you aren't here." She explained.
Beca looked down. "I understand."
Kate studied her. "If that doesn't seem feasible, there will be no hard feelings if you don't want to do this. It's a big responsibility, and I know how much being a mom, a new mom at that, how much time and energy that requires. I understand if family is more important. It should be. I can always talk to Eric about taking over. He isn't you, but he would do just fine if you can't do it."
Beca felt like the air was being sucked out of her lungs. This was the opportunity of a lifetime. She wanted this more than anything. She would be in a position she had only ever dreamed about. She would be making just as much if not more money than Aubrey and then John couldn't poke at her anymore. This pregnancy thing. She didn't want it. She never wanted it and now, it looked as though it could possibly ruin her chances of taking over the label.

When Beca arrived home that evening, the house was lit up, all the lights on it seemed and Beca shook her head as she parked her car next to Aubrey's. She carefully got out and grabbed her bags from the back seat, careful to not use her left hand and made her way up the front walkway into the house.
Music was blasting from the sound system in the living room and when she entered, she found Aubrey and Chloe, completely wasted, dancing around the room. They hadn't noticed her and she took a moment to watch them.
Aubrey looked happier than she had looked in a long time. She was always so carefree when Chloe was around. She supposed it was because being around the redhead reminded her of simpler times. It reminded her of when her only worries were college exams and running the Bella's. Now she had her fathers law firm, cases to win, a large house, a mortgage and Beca. All things that stressed her out.
She could see the empty bottle of vodka on the bar and seeing as they hadn't noticed she was there, she decided she would take herself up to bed. Aubrey would end up passing out on the couch, or floor or in the guest bed with Chloe. She didn't want to disturb their fun. She didn't feel like drinking and was looking forward to taking a pain pill for her hand. It wouldn't mix well with the alcohol and it would make her tired anyway. She didn't want to be a buzzkill. They wouldn't notice if she didn't join them at this point in their drinking anyway.
She set her bags down, and made her way into the kitchen, grabbing a plastic bag to wrap around her hand so she could take a shower. She set the alarm on the house and it took a little time but she was able to wrap the bag around her bandaged hand and take a relaxing shower, before changing her bandages and climbing into the bed.
She could still hear the music and the sound of Aubrey and Chloe's laughter. Something different to fall asleep too. She welcomed it.
