Preparation
Pov: Hachiman Hikigaya
"How about this one?" I smirk.
I showed Yukinoshita a leopard pattern tie. The tie was gross in my opinion, I just wanted to mess with her. It's normally quite funny...
"I'll break-up with you" Her face as serious as ever.
...Maybe that was a bad idea... it was just a tie...
"Hikigaya," Yukinoshita rubs her temples, "Just um... let me pick everything out okay."
"Huh, oh yeah, sure." I mutter.
Would she actually break-up with me over a tie...I am very much worried about what would happen if something serious occurred.
She's reasonable right? I mean she has always used logic to back her actions, surely she won't throw away my life over something so trivial right? I can't help but worry.
"Excuse me, he will try this on," she points to a picture of a suit in the display book. It was a standard model, black trousers and jacket, a white dress shirt. A typical suit.
"Ah, yes, of course, I'll have it set out in the changing room for you." The store attendant replies and walks off to the back of the shop.
"Hey, umm Yukinoshita," She looks over to me.
"W-would you actually," I mutter out.
I hope she wouldn't, not like this.
"Huh?" She looks confused.
"L-like break-up with me...over a tie?" I ask afraid of her answer.
"Oh" she chuckles, "What do you think Hikigaya?"
She wouldn't right...
Before I could answer she resumes.
"Of course not, why would I throw it all away for something trivial, actually, you would have to make an enormous mistake for that to happen, so as long as you do your best I think we will make it," she ends with a smile.
"Ohh." Thank the heavens, that makes me feel a lot better.
I'll try my best Yukinoshita, I guarantee it.
"Though that doesn't mean you will be wearing that tie, you do understand right?" She states back in her ice queen tone.
"Ah yes, I didn't like it anyway."
"Good," she smirks and looks back to the book.
I have a feeling that in this relationship, if I just listen to Yukinoshita everything will go smoothly.
"Does it look okay?" I ask feeling uncomfortable.
Now I am not self conscious of my appearance at all. I know exactly where I stand on the scale, slightly above average...probably. It's just that I never liked the feeling of being dressed up so much. It never felt right to me, what is the point of spending so much money on clothing when there are much better uses for it, like food for example.
The smile on her face could mean one of two things. One, she thinks I look like a fool and is about to mock me. Or two, she actually thinks I look good and is impressed by my above average looks. I hope its the later...
"H-Hikigaya, I am thoroughly impressed, this article of clothing may have just saved you from a night of embarrassment." She laughs
I... am not to sure what to take of that. Is that a complement or a insult?
"Um you could have just complemented me, you know, without that last part."
"I could have," she smirks, "but then you would think to highly of yourself."
She really enjoys teasing me... it's not like I don't enjoy our banter, it's just sometimes it's tiresome. Even the thought of that makes me laugh internally, I knew exactly what I was getting myself into, some things must be endured.
"Ughh fine, I'll just buy it." I turn back towards the changing room pretending to be upset.
"Wait!" She pulls my jacket.
I turn around to see her nervously looking around, "y-yes?"
She focuses her eyes on me, "I um, y-you look really... h-handsome...like that." She spoke shyly.
That made my day. Her words are always so warm... other than the previous ones. However, her complements make up for all of the times she's insulted me. The reason? She actually means it.
"T-thanks," I turn back to the chanting room a smiling mess. This is what I want. This life, I want her in it.
After buying the suit, Yukinoshita requested that the suit be delivered to my house after after a few alterations are made. I thought that the suit fit fine, however that man insisted that some of the seams could be adjusted for a better fit. He probably knows what he's talking about, I'll just let him do his thing.
I still have a bit of leftover money. Not a lot, but enough to do something with. Yukinoshita and I decided to go out and get lunch.
Eventually we finally decided. After a whole fiasco, you know the usual complications of going out to eat with a female.
Where do you want to go?
I don't know, Saize?
Um I was thinking of something different
...
...
Then where do you want...
Um...
...
How about...
...
Anyways, that. We eventually settled on, well more like she finally admitted that she wanted to go to some sushi place nearby. Now I really like sushi and pretty much anything, other than tomatoes, screw tomatoes. But I'm not sure why she couldn't just decide where she wanted to go. A day in the life.
We set off towards the sushi restaurant, holding hands of course. It was quite pleasant holding her hand. Other than the physical satisfaction, the mental meaning meant more to me than anything. She wanted me, me alone.
When we got there, we ordered a big plate of sushi, only one, yes, she insisted that it was cheaper to buy a big platter instead of two. So here I am sharing a plate of sushi with my girlfriend.
"What do you think?" She asks hoping I like it.
"Yeah your right, this is really good." I admit while taking another piece.
I had never been here before. The sushi was amzing and the price was reasonable, even for my standards.
"Hehe I told you." She brags as if she made it.
"Yeah yeah, it's not like you made it." I point out
"Oh...yes you are correct." She pouts
Come on you don't need to be upset over that.
"Well, I'm sure if you made it, it would probably be better anyways." I say trying to lighten her mood.
"Ah," she smiles, "Um, I do make really good nigiri, m-maybe you can come over sometime and I'll make some for you." She blushes.
S-she just invited me over to her house... I would be screaming right now if I didn't know the other occupants of that house.
"Ugh," My cheek flame up, "Y-yeah, that would be nice." I say scratching my cheek.
I hope her family isn't there when I go... That sounded wrong! No! I didn't mean it like that. It's just a meal. Nothing else!
I take another piece to distract myself.
A cough catches my attention. I look up to Yukinoshita.
"Y-yeah, so anyways Hikigaya, you know how you've already came over to my house and met my parents. I, uh...do you...does your family know? Other than Komachi." She asks nervously.
Oh yeah I need to ask her over next weekend. As good as time as any I suppose.
"Oh, yes actually, I talked with them last night about it." I smile remembering their reactions to seeing her picture.
"Oh," she says nervously, "Um maybe, um when should I-
"Actually, they asked if you would be able to come over for supper, the weekend after this one." I say actually looking forward to it.
"Oh, okay," she responded slightly confused.
"Is something wrong?" I ask worried that she's overthinking things.
Compared to her parents, mine might as well be saints, people who could do no harm... or anything at all in my case. I'm sure my parents will like her.
"Oh, no it's just that, that's quite the ways away. My mother practically forced you to come over as soon as she found out." She giggles.
"Oh that, yeah my parents work overtime almost everyday. They're never home for dinner during the week and this upcoming weekend we have that, you know that event." I explain.
"Oh of course." She responds and continues eating.
"They're really excited to meet you though," I laugh.
"I presume, what are the like? If you don't mind me asking." She questions.
"No it's fine, well my mom is pretty much... um a typical mom, you know caring to a degree and really laid back."
"My dad is like a traditional father as well, he provides, he's strict... more so to Komachi. He likes to read, actually most of my taste in books come from him." I laugh remembering the time I found ecchi manga on the bookshelf.
"Oh," she giggles.
"Yeah nothing special, really simple compared to your family." I add honestly.
"I suppose, I hope they like me..." She sighs.
Silly girl. How could she even say that. She knows she's a dream girl.
"Don't do that." I softly state.
"Sorry?" She looks up.
"Sigh, there's no need for it, my parents will adore you." I explain
"Probably more than they like me, honestly," I drive my point home.
She looks up smiling, "Well... if you say so."
Who wouldn't like this girl when she's smiling like that. So cute.
This past week went by rather smoothly. I purchased a suit with Yukinoshita, we went out to eat, the day blew bye really quick. I ended up walking her home early in the day, and got another hug at the gate. I'm starting to look forward to that hug. Is that weird? She's so warm and delicate, I just want to hold her and never let her go, I want to protect her, help her grow, be there for her...
I want to tell her those words. The words that melted my heart, I want her to hear them as well. I will soon... I hope.
Other than that the rest of the week was satisfying to say the least. We ended up texting if not calling each other every day after school. Sometimes about homework, mostly about the books we exchanged on Monday. I gave her the first volume of Class Room of the Elite, while she gave me some nonfiction mystery novel. It was actually really good, I'm not sure if she actually liked this or if she just thought I would like it. Regardless I am enjoying the book quite a bit, I'm even gaming less to read it.
School was the usual, same boring classes, some that I already understood, others that would only make sense after Yukinoshita covered the material during club.
Speaking of club, we had our first request this year, Komachi was overloaded with joy, even though we didn't do much. It was a freshman, she needed help making friends, as she previously lived outside of Chiba and didn't know anyone. We advised her to join a club that represented her interests so that she would have something to talk about to the other club members. She ended up joining the drama club, she enjoyed acting out plays and other skits as well as improv, the prefect place for her I assume.
Other than that, I was really content with the week. And that leaves me here, in bed at 1:30am. Fearing for my life at the upcoming event for the Hayama's company 20 year anniversary. How in the hell am I going to fit in during such an event? Yukinoshita and her family would be pissed if I am not well rested... sleep Hachiman sleep!
