Every ritual has its side affects.
It's one of the basic rules of magic.
You can explain it by saying Nature wants balance so to every upside, there is a down side.
Which is why, most important thing when you create a ritual is to create your own side affects.
Qetsiyah did so in her immortality ritual/potion by making doppelgängers.
She also did it in her other side creation by making it painful to the gateway whenever someone died.
I thought the Necromancer did the same by taking away my ability to have descendants after I gain the ability to see spirits and the bright world but I was wrong, the losing of my ability to have children seem to be part of the ritual's benefits.
How do I know it?
Because I now seem to suffer the consequences.
I was being forced to stay stuck in my body as it died, unable to leave it as a consequence of being able to leave it as I wish beforehand.
Of course, the Necromancer avoided the problem by changing his body into undead one, me on the other hand? I'm about to change into a vampire right now and instead of having the ability to die and wake up already turned I have the 'pleasure' to experience the change alive.
It's like being burned alive only to be healed and burned again, repeating a process thousands of times, all the while being disconnected from any sense You have.
I couldn't see, hear, smell or feel, yet at the same time the fire that burned me seemed to get hotter.
At the point that I felt like I was about to break I decided to rely on the thing that got me through the womb, my siphoning ability.
I started by siphoning the only things that weren't the all consuming fire in my body, the full moon energy I had because of my status as a siphoner/werewolf hybrid, and the magic core that came from the twin brother I merged with in the womb.
The moon energy gave the most sense of comfort, like a cold that came from the same source as the fire so they weren't fighting, the only problem was that by the time my siphoning was over and it was fully converted into my own magic Not even one circle of burning was finished.
My magic on the other hand was a different problem.
It only brought me very little comfort, but the upside was that as long as I didn't use in the outside world only a miniature amount of magic disappeared each siphoning, and with the extra magic from the moon energy I had more then enough.
But the main problem seemed to be that the fire energy that was swimming in me seemed to want to overwhelm my core as it filled it every time I emptied it before my own magic returned, making my core be in danger of collapse.
At the back of my mind an understanding on why witches lose their magic when becoming a vampire seemed to form on its own- the sun power destroy your own.
Most witches can do nothing about it as they are both unconscious at the time of the change and have no siphoning abilities to use in order to move their energy around.
With painful, yet exited state, I started urging my siphoning abilities to work faster and to take more magic when it siphon, which seemed to quicken the absorption on its own as it strengthened the ability.
But even then, I could tell it is not enough.
I was dealing with the power of the sun, and to complete the transformation I couldn't fight it, only to accept it willingly or passively.
Just when I thought of where to put all my magic, I seemed to remember the three resurrected people I'm connected to- Hayley, Elijah and Jo, one of which is fully resurrected and only half connected to me, with her bracelets have the second half of the connection, and the others just have been resurrected and still very weak original vampire and a hybrid.
Taking all the purified from inside of me, I pushed it to the three connections with the latter two taking most of it as my siphoning abilities, now empty and stronger than ever, started siphon the sun energy that was filling my magic core and purifying it before sending the parts it couldn't use to strengthen itself to the connections.
After an unidentified time, the burning seemed to stop along with the uncontrolled pouring of the sun's energy even though I could now feel a connection to it similar to the connection I have with the full moon.
"Ah." Was all I said as I moved my body who felt great even if a bit weak and not at all like a victim of a burning accident.
"You know that 'Ah' was your first word as an original tribrid, right?"
Kol's joke only made me say. "A not so fun side affect of the spirit eyes ritual? Being able to experience the turning into a vampire instead of just die and wake up afterwords, something that feels like being burnt, repeatedly."
"Oh, sorry to hear that mate, the good news is that my brother and Hayley were resurrected and are energetic about seeing Hope."
"I need to talk to them beforehand, as we still haven't figured out a plan A, maybe they will have an idea."
"I doubt that, but as long as I get my hands on the vampire magic I'm good."
"You helped with the ritual, so either way you will get it."
"That's good to hear, but for more let's get you some blood."
"Yeah, that will be-" I said but before could finish a woman in her 20s appeared. "Great."
I could feel my fangs appear in my mouth and before the woman could open her mouth to scream about my no doubt demonic appearance, I already bit her neck.
I could finally understand the feeling a vampire was experiencing when drinking blood.
While the blood itself tasted good, it was the power that ran through you when drinking that made it great and addictive.
It was a watered down version of using black magic for siphoners, maybe like using black magic for regular witches.
It was addictive, and euphoria inducing.
It was also something I knew well how to control.
Taking my mouth out of her neck I made a wound on my finger and used a drop of my blood to close her bite wounds before repeating it four times.
"I've never seen a vampire with as good of control as you just after getting turned." He said before looking in the girl's eyes. "Forget anything happened, you don't feel so good so you are going to ask for a day off, go home and clean yourself."
The girl just started to walk away.
"Come on, we need to get to freya's house before Hayley decides to go Hope searching.
"I don't care!" Hayley said after hearing what I told her "I'm thankful for all you did for my daughter, and for bringing me and Elijah back from the dead, but Hope needs me, I'm not just leaving her again to go search for the place hiding this black goo."
"I'm trying to protect her too!" I didn't mean for it but my hybrid face came up for a second before returning to my original face. "Right now there aren't any keys in possession of the school so monsters won't come to it, but even if there will be eventually, as much as monsters are dangerous Hope can always give them the key in exchange for her life, what do you think is going to happen when Malivore is free and finds up there is a person that can kill it? It will send the rest of the creatures trapped inside of him with only one goal- kill Hope. Finding Malivore before it happe is our best chance to protect Hope!"
"Hayley, you know his right." Elijah said "This boy has already decided to sacrifice his life to protect Hope, let's help him do it right."
"So I will just call her." Hayley said.
"Like she won't once knowing you are alive, decide to leave everything to meet you, putting her in greater danger?" Freya asked
"What can we even do? Search the entire globe for a pit of goo?" Kol asked looking at me.
"Well, we know the pit was in use at World War Two from the chatter the Necromancer did while writing in my Grimory, yet for the last three hundred years it was in pit form so we can assume someone is using it, does any of you know about any supernatural hunting groups or companies?"
"I know about five that has been around for more then a hundred years." Elijah said
"Well, we will need to check them all." I said.
"Keelin and me can't go, we have little Nick on our plate. Sorry." Frays said
"While i sometimes miss the excitement of a good hunt I already became human, so I also can't." Rebekah said.
"And Davina and I have to go study all about the new, vampire-friendly magic called alchemy!" Kol said.
"And thus there are three." I said "Who wants a road trip?"
"Well, I would love to get to know my daughter's best friend a bit more." Hayley said.
"And I would be glad to teach you basic vampire lessons as a repayment for our resurrection." Elijah added.
"Great! Where to first?" I asked
"To catch a plane, we need to go to London."
The next five days have been full of flights around the world as apparently supernatural hunting companies are more diverse than expected.
We have been to London, israel, Nigeria, China, and finally, back in USA, only to get a call on the way to our final stop from Rick that they need some help back at school with a night hag while also delivering the news that they found where Malivore is two days ago.
"Change of plans." I told Elijah who was driving while Hayley was sleeping "Apparently Rick and Hope found the location of the pit by chance and also found the second key, so now they deal with a night hag and need some help."
"I suggest you run after telling Hayley the news, or you might lose a finger, permanently." Was all Elijah said as he took a turn left, changing the course from Georgia to Virginia.
For the last couple of days Elijah taught me quite a few vampiric tricks while helping me perfect my control over my emotions to prevent my face from showing up, and we bonded a little bit, which is how I could tell he was joking, I think.
"You're joking, right?"
"Am I?" He said in his natural voice, making it difficult to know.
I have also spent the last few days whenever I had free time checking on my magic.
The first thing that was noticed is that my siphoning became much stronger, making me able to stay out in the sun without burns because my siphoning was turning any sun energy that comes in after a certain point into magical energy, enlarging my reserves by a lot but also forcing me to expand as much energy as to not cause my core to burst. Right now I started putting a constant force field tightly around my body.
The other thing that changed was the curse.
If in the past I had to spend two hours every day in the morning to prevent it from starting to suck my energy on its own, now the sun energy inside my body seem able to prevent it from flaring on its own.
Lastly, as all my senses became sharper, the ability to see spirits became stronger, making me able to see the spirits of living beings.
Five hours into our drive Hayley woke.
"We still haven't made it?" She asked
"A change of plans." Elijah said "We are going to Mystic Falls."
"But we didn't check the last location?"
"Well, apparently Hope and Dr. Saltsman already did it for us and are now dealing with a night hag." Elijah said and goosebumps were felt all over my body.
"I'm sorry!" I yelled fearfully, raising my hands in defense, as much as I knew she couldn't do me anything, she was scary. "We are going there now, we'll be there by 21:30."
'Should I jump and run the rest of the way on foot?'
Hope's POV
I have had a couple of crappy days.
It started with my best friend leaving school right before Exam week, making their usual study together be canceled and her having to study alone.
Then one night 4 days ago the Landon finder bracelet showed he's in danger.
Getting caught by Dr. Saltsman on the way out to steal his car, and a road trip where she was constantly questioned about the different subjects wasn't the worst part.
The worst part also wasn't finding out Landon's mother didn't want him and that his father is Malivore.
Even the fighting with a merman wasn't the worst part.
The worst part was that she was the only one that remembered everything that happened!
Almost immediately I had in mind another person who only I can remember, only His version was watered down.
I tried to push the worries away by focusing on the urn, which not only started to glow, but also sent a dream demon after them.
Eventually the super squad managed to get the demon to the real world and help me finish it off.
Oh, and she kissed Landon, almost had sex with him, lied to him and then kissed him again- was it just her or did her life became a telenovela?
And now here she was, sitting at the couch and thinking about Tony and his curse when the door opened and three people walked in from outside.
"Mom? Uncle Elijah?" She whispered before running to them engulfing them in a hug.
Maybe it wasn't the smartest thing to do knowing there are monsters out there who can raise the dead and control them, but right now She didn't care.
Her life defiantly became a telenovela.
