Rick's POV
"Just give her a moment." I said.
"Dr. Saltsman, if she don't." Caleb said, and my heart broke down at his plead.
On one hand we have the sweet MG, a boy who only tries to make things easy for others, who lost control over his bloodlust in his desperation over his father calling him a monster after Landon probed MG to meet him.
On the other hand Hope's boyfriend just died, how can I ask her to save his killer's life?
"I have another way." I said, remembering the secret option, the one Hope can't know about fully, as he doesn't want her to right now.
"What way?" Caleb asked
"Tony made another cue based on Hope's blood."
"So call him!"
"I will, but before so," I said, walking to Hope. "Go to Landon, Tony made a cure that should work." I told her, making her nod and run after Raphael.
Calling quickly he answered after three rings
"Rick?"
"Tony I'm sending you a location, it's an emergency, MG has been bitten by a werewolf."
"Is Hope with you?" Was his question.
"No, Caleb is."
"Explain to him the need for quiet."
"I will."
He hang up.
"Listen both of you, the cure Tony made was a side affect of a ritual Tony did a while ago in order to have an Insurance against Malivore, it is a tramp card and needed to be kept a secret from anyone, including Hope." I said looking as serious as possible.
"Why Dr. Saltsman? Why not just use it?" Caleb asked
"Because to use it I will have to sacrifice my life." I heard Tony looking from the side.
"You know? In Less then 10 KM speed beats teleportation." He said before biting his arm.
"He's a tribrid?!" Caleb asked in shock "Wait, are you Hope's secret brother? Because we all thought you have a thing for her!"
Even though the situation was grim I couldn't help but chuckle a little as Tony gave MG a little of his blood while grimacing.
"No, I'm not her brother! And was it so obvious?"
"Yes man, that's why I didn't just tell Hope to ask you to resurrect Landon."
"Wait, Landon is dead?" He asked in what looked like intrigued.
"Yes, MG lost control and drank him to death." I told him grimly
"And I'm guessing Raphael lost control and retaliated?"
"Pretty much." I said
"Well, I guess MG has to thank him then." He said with a shrug
"Thank him?!" Caleb asked enraged "Raphael almost killed MG."
"That's right, I didn't tell you Rick, I figured out what Landon is."
"Isn't that too late?" I asked but the man didn't seem to listen
"My scam of him found a lot of some kind of fire element energy hidden in him, not one that will show on a witch, even if it's a fire breathing one, but one closer to a vampire's energy.
"Wait, us vampires has magic?" Caleb interrupted as MG started showing improvements.
"Not one that can be accessed without the right training, but it's mostly sun energy, MG managed to learn how to access it in the last alchemy lesson and-" "Tony focus!" I said.
"Sorry, anyway, the reason vampires burn in the sun is because their bodies had the most sun power they can, and MG has just drank the blood of someone who had a lot of similar energy in him."
"What does it has to do with the bite?"
"The bite has moonlight properties, which are able to corrode the sun energy, it is the reason why it killed vampires. The huge amount of energy in MG fought Raphael's bite instead of burning MG."
"So by biting MG he saved his life?" Caleb asked
"Yes."
"What about Landon?" I asked even though I knew saving him will kill Tony inside.
"He won't need saving." Tony said with a little bit of bite in voice "he's a freaking Phoenix."
"Holy shit." Was all I could say.
Caleb's POV
Spring break didn't go as I wished.
First instead of staying in school with MG I had to go with Dr Saltsman, his undead not-wife, the twins, mr Williams and Emma to find the urn, which we had to give to this creepy agent Clark because I still feed on bunnies, then I had a real talk with the doctor and he told me he is in the process of accusing blood bags which was good to know and the only thing good about the trip, oh, and we fought a mummy.
Now, fighting monsters is cool and all, but I knew MG needs me, which is why I stayed in the first place, that, and not wanting to deal with my crazy-ass family.
Anyway, we come back and I find out MG has gone missing, and Dr Saltsman was all like 'I got it, don't worry.' Only to come a while later to ask for my help.
After some time I find out MG lost control and killed Landon only for Raphael to do the same and bite MG.
If that was all, I could have dealt with it, saying the school is just like that.
But then to find out our teacher, the one who taught me 'Don't be a nazi' remedial class is a tribrid? And that MG has been learning magic is possible for vamps and didn't tell me? No way.
"How could you MG?" I asked as we walked to where Landon's body is as he is being reborn as a Phoenix.
"I don't know, I lost control." He said
"I'm not talking about that, he pushed you to that point." I said
"Then what are you talking about?"
"I'm talking about you learning vampire magic is real and not telling me so I can learn it too."
"Oh, that. Tony said that until you pass the 'Don't be a nazi' class I can't tell you."
"Oh." That sounds about right, as much as I still think there is nothing wrong with drinking human blood, I was kind of a jerk about it. Wait...
"But I passed it just before spring break!"
"He said it would be a prank to make you think alchemy is an advance class and make you come to the class in the new semester angry before realizing it's vamp magic class.״
I couldn't help but laugh. "This guy is awesome."
And he was, he was never talking down on us, and his classes, even the nazi class are always interesting.
"So? What can you do right now?" I asked MG, not only because I was interested, but because I had to make him stop thinking about Landon.
"Well, I just learned how to feel the energy and can pump it into a certain location to achieve speed and power stronger then regular vampires."
"That's awesome! Can you create fire balls?"
"Actually, after he returned from his trip Tony said he learned it was possible for vampires to create heat blasts, which I guess now we can tell how..."
"He's a tribrid!" I said "who would have believed it?"
"He wasn't before." MG said making me frown "In his first class of 'vamps 101' he bleed in front of us and didn't smell like a vampire, maybe like a wolf but with us being always around them I can't tell."
"So he went on a trip and returned as a tribrid, but why do we need another one?why is he being a tribrid makes him a tramp card? And why can't we tell Hope?" I asked.
"You can always just ask me." I heard a voice from behind me, making me jump.
"Tony, my man, how are you?"
"I would be better if you don't talk about it where someone can hear you."
"Sorry." We said together
"It's fine, the three of us can meet together for an explanation, plus we will also meet for some drinking lessons which MG need."
Not more remedial lessons! "Why me? I drink blood just fine."
"Solidarity." He said with a smile "plus I think you would enjoy those lessons, like wine drinking, only...bloodier."
I couldn't help but grin hearing that.
"I-I shouldn't be drinking, I'm a monster!" MG said, and I didn't know what to say.
"You are not a monster MG." Tony said hugging MG. "A monster doesn't care for other people, a monster doesn't stop after one victim. You are a vampire, which means that you have a need for blood, you are also an immortal, which means you have more time to make mistakes, but also more time to make good choices." He then looked at both of us "You two have so much potential, can do so much, it was why I have created the 'don't be a nazi' class after hearing Caleb saying you are the superior beings, why the 'blood drinking' class will be created for you MG, it's because I believe that with the right mindset, you two will go so far." I felt touched
"And what about my father? He thinks I'm a monster!"
"Your father is a priest." Tony said with a sad smile "Christianity has been the biggest supernatural hating religion since its creation, which is funny as it is the most likely is that Jesus was a witch, as a priest he can't accept the supernatural as a not-negative thing just like you probably can't accept the monsters as not evil, but the truth is, we are our choices, and there for we constantly changing, the monsters got into a situation that to be free they have to release a monster to the world, and we defend the world, we got into situation where we feed on human blood, and humans got into a situation where they only want to not be fan on. It's a shifty situation, but it is what it is. The most important thing in this situation is control. 'How much I drink, where do I drink from, who do I drink from, how much is my body needs, and how much it wants.' Those questions define us as blood drinking immortals and our choices at how to behave with those choices are what that define us as human beings."
While it was a speech I heard many times in the class, it still got me emotional.
"Humans? We aren't humans!" MG said.
"Oh, how do you define human beings?"
A smirk appeared on my face as it wasn't me who had to suffer Tony's philosophical questions this time.
"Humans-Humans are Mammals who walk on two legs, can procreate, think complexl, have no supernatural abilities and capable of dying." MG said.
"Caleb, show me how good you learned from me." Tony said and I couldn't help but laugh
"Sure, so if I can't walk I'm not human?"
"Of course you can, I meant not walking on four." MG corrected himself
"What it one day a person who get in an accident gets mechanical legs that work by using four legs?"
"Never mind, you can walk however you want."
"But only as long as I can procreate, right? Because if my swimmers can't reach their destination I'm not human."
"Fine, but you have to be able to think complexly."
"Sure... autistic people can and should be experimented on before normal people."
"What? I didn't say that!"
"But we once talked about how animals experimentation should happen before human ones, if people who can't think complexly aren't human then autistic people can be experimented upon. Old people with memory problems as well."
"I get your point, but you can't say the same about death." That kind of stumped me, which Tony saw and intervened
"Good job Caleb," he said, patting my shoulders. "What is Death MG? Biologically speaking, it's the failing of your systems with your brain as the main object, with science advancing every day, there might be a day where your life span can be extended for hundreds of years, are you still a human then?"
"But You still die!" MG protested.
"And yet at that point it is more likely you die from external causes then internal, something you can do still as a vampire, hell, many vampires live more shortly then humans because they are hunted and killed.
As for being supernatural," Tony said and his face turned into a sneer and his voice raised "who the hell are you to decide that!?"
I took a step back, not expecting this kind of an answer.
"Are you Nature itself? Are you god? Or maybe you think the person who coined the term supernatural is god? All three of us, hell, all the supernatural community and humanity at large, are just a cosmic dust who learned to use nature's power for our own and decided among ourselves to call some monsters and unnatural, earth magic, black magic, vampires, werewolves, siphoners and monsters, we were all approved to be created by nature, unless you decide you are god don't call yourself natural."
Tears started to flow from both MG's and my eyes.
Since the moment we became vampires, it is the first time someone doesn't consider us an unnatural thing.
"Boys," Tony said, once more hugging both of us "I was conceived a siphoner, in the womb I killed both my twin brother who was a regular witch and took his power unknowingly, and my mother, triggering my werewolf side. I also became a vampire less then a month ago. You aren't monsters, if anyone is, it's me."
"Welcome to the vamp camp," I said "hoping you enjoy the experience."
