Chapter One
Hiruzen Sarutobi sits in a chair across from a bed in the hospital. He's still unsure if what is happening is a blessing or not. He ordered Itachi Uchiha to kill his entire clan to prevent an uprising not even a day ago. Itachi agreed under one condition, his little brother gets to live and that was granted. But he's not in Sasuke's room, that room is down the hall. The room he is in belongs to another surviving Uchiha child, but it's how he survived that puzzles him. He was brought in dead from a fatal wound through the heart. But for some reason when one of the doctors was going through the morgue earlier, he found that the child once again had a pulse and his wound wasn't fatal anymore. It's as if the child seemed to be fighting to stay alive and someone gave mercy to him and intervened. Hiruzen didn't have the heart to let him die with the rest of his clan. Although that being said, the child doesn't appear to have the traditional Uchiha traits. While the rest of his clan had black hair and eyes, this one has ice blue eyes with streaks of white in his hair that appeared overtime. The third Hokage sighs, If I'm able to convince the kid to forgo his name and clan then maybe I can pass him off as a normal orphan who just happened to be visiting a friend. The other three who were with me at that meeting might not approve of another survivor, so I can only wish that I can hide him from them until he proves his worth. He looks up when he hears a noise coming from the bed.
"Ugh, why do I feel like I was run over?" The child asks.
Hiruzen smiles, "Well after what you've been through, I'm not surprised you don't feel just right."
The child blinks and looks over at the old man, "I'm sorry who are you? Where am I?"
"You're in the hospital, but I'm surprised you don't recognize me. I'm the Third Hokage, my boy."
"Hokage? What's a Hokage?"
The smile fades, "You don't know what a Hokage is? What about the Uchiha clan?"
The child just shakes his head with a confused look. The elder sighs, Amnesia perhaps? With what he's gone through I wouldn't be surprised. Probably would make my plan for the kid easier, but I don't like this.
"Do you remember anything? Your name perhaps?" Hiruzen asks.
"Yes, my name is Anakin Solo," the newly named child answers.
Hiruzen is dumbfounded, as are the ANBU guards hiding in the shadows. That is not the name they were expecting nor was it the name of this child. The strangeness just keeps piling on top of each other.
He collects himself, "Anakin, as you call yourself, I hope you forgive me but I'm having a hard time believing you. The name doesn't match the person I'm looking at. Would you mind explaining to me what exactly is going on?"
"I'm not exactly sure myself to be honest. One moment I was talking to the spirit of my grandfather and some sage after I died, then the next moment I woke up here and am talking to you."
The Hokage thinks for a moment, This is a weird situation. I'm going to need help uncovering this. And he sends for just the man to do so.
Inoichi Yamanaka arrives at the hospital room containing the Third Hokage and the boy claiming to be Anakin Solo. After being caught up to speed, he quickly gets to work. He uses his clan's jutsu to get into the boy's mind but stumbles across something he didn't expect, the boy's mind is quite powerful and he can't get through any farther than some completely different teenager with brown hair and ice blue eyes standing there blocking his way.
"Quite rude to invade someone's mind, especially someone who you just met a second ago," the teen says to him in the mind space.
Seeing no other way to proceed any further into the boy's mind, Inoichi replies back. "My apologies but when someone is claiming to be someone who they are known not to be, it's my job to look into them to find the problem and help fix their mental state. Although I must say, I never encountered someone completely different in their mind compared to the body they are in."
Anakin just sighs, "The answer I have to you is pretty complicated. The short version is that when I died I had two options: move on into the afterlife, or be sent into the body of someone who already died. I'm pretty sure you can see what option I chose."
"So did you pick to live again to get back at those who killed you?"
"I did not. Are you trying to gauge if I'm a threat or not?"
"That's correct."
"Well seeing as I am somewhere I'm unfamiliar with surrounded by people and things I don't know, going on a killing spree isn't on my list of things to do."
"Well seeing as I can't get any farther into your mind, I'm going to take your word for it and bring us both back outside to speak to the Hokage to decide what we will do. I don't believe it would be safe for me to remain in the mind of someone who has this much mental protection."
Inoichi stops the jutsu and brings the Third up to speed. The older man looks at the boy, "Assuming we go along with this, what are your plans?"
Anakin says, "Seeing how I died before I was even 20 in my past life, I plan on taking full advantage of my second chance and protecting the place that I live." I can't exactly go into it much more than this since explaining what the true reason I'm here would involve having to explain the Force. I should probably save that for later after we both gained each other's trust.
"So you mean you'd be willing to protect this village from any threats?" The Hokage asks.
"Yes, if you would allow me to stay despite the weird circumstance I'm here."
"I can't sense any lies in your words, so I'm willing to allow it."
"Thank you Hokage, right?"
The old man smiles, "Correct. I guess I should perhaps explain the world you are now in. Starting with me, The Kages are the leaders of one of five great nations. The Hokage, myself, is the leader and protector of the Fire nation and the capital is the Hidden Leaf village. Also known as Konoha." The Hokage then gives a brief explanation of the shinobi world Anakin finds himself in and the history of it. "And right now, I'm in a very weird situation. It's the unfortunate reason why the previous owner of your body is dead. You see, as I said, there are ninja clans and that body belonged to someone from the Uchiha clan."
"Ah, you mentioned that they were one of the founders of this village. Being from such a prominent clan, it'll probably be hard for me to fake being him to his family." Anakin says.
"Well that's the unfortunate part I wanted to talk about. You see, not even a day ago they were all killed by a member of their own named Itachi Uchiha. The only survivor is his little brother who is down the hall in his room, or it was until you came to be."
Anakin is in shock for the moment. What kind of world did I walk into? Yes I've seen plenty of things from my Jedi days and throughout the war with the Yuuzhan Vong, but to betray the very friends and family you grew up with? He must have had some sort of trigger to make him which on his own people like that. I remember the holo recordings from R2 of when Grandfather turned on the Jedi. His trigger was a combination of his mom dying and the dreams of his wife dying during childbirth. But even though Grandfather turned to the Dark Side and did unimaginable things, Uncle Luke still managed to bring him back to the light. So perhaps Itachi's little brother might be able to bring him back as well. Seems like I got my work cut out for me other than just dealing with the Sith.
The Third Hokage studies the facial expressions of his new acquaintance as he takes in this information. It went from shock, to focused, to realization, then finally determination. He smiles at this process, The boy is taking this information rather well. I half expected him to be in shock for a lot longer, but I didn't expect him to be putting together something with that kind of determination. But then again, he is supposedly older than he appears. It'd be a waste to let someone like this go on to be nothing. Even if he doesn't end up with a sharingan like most Uchihas, he could prove most valuable with his mindset. He shifts his focus back to the boy once he realizes Anakin finished putting his own thoughts together.
"Seems I came in at the wrong time," Anakin starts. "But there's no use complaining about my situation since I doubt most people don't even get a second chance of life. So since you're the leader here, how do you wish to proceed with this?"
"Although our nation is strong, with the Nine Tails attack seven years ago and the death of one of our strongest clans we honestly need all the help we can get. If you wish to stay, I can provide you with what you need to start out with living in this village. I'm a bit hesitant to give you Uchiha property since you aren't a clan member in spirit." Among other things, the Hokage thought to himself.
"That's alright. I feel like that'd put a huge spotlight on me and since I don't properly know anything about them or who this body was, it's best that I don't assume that clan name."
"Hmm, yes that's probably for the best. Luckily the former owner of that body was a sheltered child and you don't have the defining features of most in his clan. If I remember right, you said your full name is Anakin Solo? I can write in a report that you stumbled during the wrong place at the wrong time. We can just use the name you previously had and mark you down as an orphan. I can handle a simple quiet background to explain why people haven't come across you or your history yet. Rather you want to divulge your previous life or not is up to you. No-one else here will speak out about it seeing as it's a precarious situation. Although if you do decide to tell people, I'd recommend saying you were reincarnated from birth since saying you took over someone else's body would probably make people get a bad idea of you."
"Thank you for the advice. I'll take you up on your offer for taking up residence here."
"We're thankful to have you, Anakin. Welcome to the Hidden Leaf Village."
Getting used to life at a ninja village is an interesting experience for Anakin the past years. Being surrounded by woodlands everywhere reminded him of Yavin Four when he attended Luke's Jedi Academy there with Tahiri. Although he couldn't get fully comfortable here. He always liked tinkering with technology and what they have here isn't like what he was used to. Yes this village had some, but it seems life they prefer the ancient tried and true methods. He sighs. His brother, which was more towards nature, would have probably loved being here a lot more than Anakin does. That's not to say he hates this place. Far from it. He already made a few friends here. Speaking of which, here's one coming towards him.
"Hey Anakin! There you are. Man, if you took any longer to get here than I would have become Hokage already!" The blond kid proclaims.
Anakin looked at his friend, Naruto Uzumaki. They were introduced by the Third a few days after Anakin arrived. He quickly noticed that the two shared a close friendship despite their age gap, most likely because Naruto doesn't have parents to look up to. It actually was fairly easy to form a friendship with Naruto as long as one didn't give him dirty looks right away, which Anakin couldn't figure out why most of the adults did. There is indeed much he doesn't know about the world he is now living in. Other than Naruto, Anakin has gotten along with the people who work at the ramen stand. He goes there often with his blond companion. They seem to be one of the few who doesn't turn Naruto away and genuinely cares for the boy.
Speaking of caring for the boy, there's the dark blue-haired girl standing off to the side of Naruto. Hinata Hyuga blushes as she looks at the blond. It doesn't take a genius to tell she likes the boy, although rather Naruto can or will figure it out anytime soon is the real question. Anakin has done what he can to help the two and it wasn't easy either. During his first attempt of getting them to talk, she fainted at Naruto just saying "hello". It took many more instances like that for her to start talking back to him. Physical contact is still iffy, though Anakin is determined to break through her shell for her sake. Sadly her shyness isn't going to help her in the long run especially since she's the Hyuga clan's heiress. She's going to need confidence if she wishes to get her future in her own hands. Plus Anakin thinks that Hinata is good for Naruto as well. He has noticeably calmed down a bit after the three of them became friends.
"Um… Anakin?" Hinata tilts her head in question. "You seemed to have spaced out… Are you alright?"
Anakin shakes his head away from his thoughts. "Yes, sorry. Just worried about the history test we had yesterday."
Naruto nods, "So am I. I've never been good at that kind of stuff. I prefer the hands-on lessons we get."
"Huh, you only get excited for training and not anything else." Anakin sighs.
"That's not true, ramen gets me excited too!" He proclaims with a small giggle from Hinata.
The trio continues their journey towards the ninja academy they are currently attending. They are still a month out before they are eligible to graduate to become genin. This will be Naruto's third time trying to pass while it's Anakin's second. Naruto has had setbacks because he wasn't getting the help he needed to understand what he is meant to do and no one would train with him other than Anakin. While Anakin is willing, trying to teach someone the skills of a ninja by someone who doesn't understand it isn't easy. Anakin also ran into trouble on his first attempt. Despite the past experience as a Jedi, trying to mold chakra isn't easy for him. He's used to using the Force around him rather than using something within himself, so it's a bit difficult for him to properly grasp it. He has been training his body to use the Force and can use a little bit of it, but sadly the teachers are unable to understand it so they aren't able to properly give him a passing grade for it. He has been trained to use a lightsaber from his uncle and his brother, and has a good bit of experience in unarmed fighting. His skills in fighting is why the teachers haven't denied him from attending since there was another student who couldn't use his chakra and focused entirely on taijutsu.
Luckily Hinata's bodyguard, Ko Hyuga, has been helping them out. He was at first reluctant with Naruto but after getting to know the boy and seeing Hinata gaining confidence and happiness from him, he came around and started to give the boys advice during their training. Of course he does not mention Naruto during his report to Hinata's father and clan head, Hiashi Hyuga, since he knows she will be restricted from where she can go even more than she already is. In fact Ko and the trio have grown closer to each other over the year to where he sees them as his little brothers and sister. While training Naruto has mostly been just giving him better chakra control and Hinata has been easier since they come from the same clan, Anakin is a whole other level for him. Ko has had success with training him physically, but the number of problems from before halts a lot of progress in performing anything involving chakra. Although somehow Anakin has discovered a way to use chakra around him to mold for himself, sadly Ko has no idea how to use it nor knows anyone currently in Konoha who could help him.
"Hum… Naruto-kun… It seems as if Anakin is spacing again." Hinata says.
Naruto crosses his arms, "He's always like that and it bugs me. Like what is he thinking of that he forgets we are here." He pokes at his companion.
Anakin jumps, "Huh what? Oh it's just you. What's up?"
"What's up? That's what we would like to ask you. You get times where you totally spaced out and it's weirding us out. Just what is going on inside your head?"
"Oh it's nothing. Just reflecting on things."
"Yeah? Well maybe do that at home and not while you're about to walk into a wall."
"What are you tal-" Anakin is cut off by slamming himself into a wall. After he falls down, snickers of laughter fill the class. Blinking he gets up confused. "Wait since when did we get to school already?"
"You were spacing out so bad you didn't pay attention to where you were walking?" Naruto asks.
A voice comes from behind the trio. "Honestly sometimes I'm not sure who's the bigger dope between you and Naruto. At the moment, you're in the lead with that face plant into the wall."
A few girls exclaim when they see the person behind the three. The black hair student moves through them into the classroom to take his seat. Anakin rubs his head, "Well good morning to you too Sasuke." Anakin takes his seat next to a pink haired girl, "Good morning Sakura."
Sakura looks at him with a chuckle, "Good morning Anakin. Although with that stunt you just did, I doubt you're having one."
"Ugh, can this day be over already?" Anakin asks grumpily.
"If we get more of that then I wouldn't mind the day taking longer."
"Alright settle down you guys," their teacher Iruka tells them. The rest of the students all move back to their seats and quiets up. After confirming all attention is on him, he begins today's lesson.
"Man what a drag." A student named Shikamaru Nara says.
"I gotta agree with you," Anakin tells him.
They and other students watch as Sasuke is swarmed with fan girls as they are trying to leave the school. I'm so glad I didn't claim the former owner's title of being in the Uchiha clan, Anakin thinks to himself. After getting past the crowd, he meets up with his two friends outside of school alongside Ko.
"Do you think we can train together again today Ko-san?" Naruto asks him.
"I'm sorry guys, but Hinata-chan has been asked to head straight to the Hyuga compound today. She still has her duties as the clan's heiress." Ko replies back.
"Awww, fine then. Hinata-chan we'll see you later then."
Hinata slightly blushes, "Alright… Bye Anakin and Naruto-kun."
The two boys watch as the two Hyugas walk away. As Naruto starts walking, Anakin grabs his collar. "Just because there's no adult here, doesn't mean you get to start pranking again."
"Oh come on, but I have a great idea about painting the Hokage monument," the blond complains.
"What's that about painting the monument?!" A voice shouts at Naruto who slowly turns his head towards.
"Nothing Iruka-sensei. You must have misheard me." The fear comes from the boy.
Iruka places his hand on the boy's shoulder, "You better hope so because I was about to invite you to go have some ramen."
Naruto's attitude changes instantly, "Painting the monument? Not a chance when the offering of ramen is on the table."
The man turns his attention to Anakin after nodding at the blond. "Thanks for catching him beforehand."
Anakin just waves it off, "Don't mention it. I get the feeling if I let that happen then somehow I'd get roped into it as well."
"It's good to know at least one of my students has great judgments. I just wish you'd rub some off on Naruto here."
"Hey I'm standing right here guys," is response from the person of the topic currently being ignored.
"Well if you wish to join us you're free to," Iruka says, "being as you stopped what could have been a disaster."
Anakin just bows, "Thanks Master Iruka, but I have other things to do today."
Iruka scratches his face, "Even after all the time I've known you, it's still weird to hear one of my students call me 'master'."
"Sorry it's a force of habit."
"Yeah I read your records; I'm sure not being originally from Konoha may get some getting used to, and to move here by yourself takes guts."
"Uh yeah. My original village is fairly different than here." Anakin says awkwardly. Hiruzen has told him what his fake records were and trying to keep the lie up for so long isn't that easy when people ask about it.
"Well I guess we'll see you around Anakin. Come on Naruto, let's go eat."
"Yes, ramen! See ya Anakin." Naruto tells him as he runs towards Ichiraku Ramen with Iruka closely behind him.
By himself, he heads to the training grounds. Unlike his previous body that had the Skywalker bloodline for the Force to easily channel through, this body wasn't so fortunate. He has had to train even harder than before to be able to lift a pebble at first. He's not able to move a big boulder without absolute concentration, so it's not exactly battle worthy as of yet especially since his future opponent has a good head start on him. He can however call smaller objects to him such as a sword, so he's content for now. All he can hope for is that the Sith Lord is having a tough time as well. He also tried to take the Sage's advice to learn this world's techniques, but it's proving to be even harder. Having a time limit isn't exactly helping him train better either. Luckily lifting things isn't the only thing the Force can do. The one thing he does have going right is his previous fighting experiences making him very dangerous with a blade. He has been tirelessly training his body to meet the physical conditions for him to be close to how he was in his former life. He uses the Force to enhance himself during a fight and getting short awareness from the Force warning him of dangers which makes even Ko reluctant to spar with him without the use of his Byakugan. But physical training isn't why he is here today. It's the former reason that brings him here. When training with the others, he doesn't have time to properly train with the Force.
He sits himself down and crosses his legs. He then starts to meditate with the Force. He feels his surroundings and feels what is happening around him. He feels the grass shaking from the wind, squirrels chasing each other in the trees, genin ninjas training with their jounin teachers. While it wasn't easy at first, his connection to the Force is much greater now. At the moment he forgets about his time limit and just focuses on the now, and with that he emptied himself of all his previous worries. The dew begins to rise from the grass and rocks start stacking on top of each other while he starts rising off the ground himself. He knows he may get looks from anyone else training, but they do not matter to him for the Force is his only focus right now.
One such onlooker watches from the sidelines. Kurenai Yuhi can very well tell that what is in front of her scarlet eyes is no genjutsu, being a specialist of it herself. She can't help but be in awe at the boy's abilities and wonder why he was held back at the academy. I know this power of his doesn't involve any sort of chakra, but surely this feat should allow him to pass along with his physical abilities. If this power can be passed down like the other clan's unique kekkei genkai, this could very well be the beginning of a new great clan. I'll have to see if I can find out why he was held back and try to get the Hokage to put him on a team of mine in this graduating class along with his friends if possible, but there's a certain masked man eyeing Naruto this year for his own team. With her mind made up, she leaves to let the boy continue without interruption.
Author's Note:
Well welcome again everyone! First I know there's a considerable time gap between Anakin first arriving and his day with Naruto and Hinata. The reason for that was that my plan was to split this into two chapters, but I didn't feel like the first part was long enough to post as its own chapter. Yes I could have made it longer by introducing Anakin with everyone, but the idea of going through and having him constantly explain why no one has seen nor heard of him yet would sound like a boring broken record to me. Now as for why I gave him an Uchiha body, it was the best place I can think of putting him without killing off other already established characters from Naruto. Rather he unlocks the sharingan or not is still up in the air. I'll see what you guys think before I make my final decision on it. I'm sure you can tell I'm starting the Naruto x Hinata early since setting them up was fairly simple if someone would have given the push. As for Anakin, he may have to wait a few more chapters before I roll someone down his court. Anyways this note is getting long, so thanks for reading and I'll talk at y'all next time!
