Naruto/N X OC

THIS IS MY FIRST EVER FANFIC STORY THAT I HAVE WRITTEN. PLEASE BE GENTLE. IF THERE ARE ANY SPELLING OR GRAMMAR MISTAKES, THEN THAT'S FINE. HOWEVER, IF YOU COULD PLEASE WRITE REVIEWS ON HOW WELL I AM WRITING, AND GIVE FEEDBACK AND ADVICE! THANK YOU!

BTW I DO NOT OWN NARUTO IN ANY WAY. MISASHI KISHIMOTO HAS THAT HONOR.

It's been another couple hours since the group of Team 7 and the bridge builder encountered the Kirigakure nukenin, Momochi Zabuza. In the end of the fight, Zabuza was killed by a Kiri tracker nin.

Both Naruto and Sasuke were slightly tired from using multiple ninjutsu. Kakashi himself was exhausted as he had use multiple ninjutsu, used his sharingan to copy movements, and using it for too long drains his reserves. It would have been worse had Kakashi not train.

The group arrived at Tazuna's house, before entering in. They saw a woman who had tan skin and black hair with a blue tint turn around from the kitchen.

"Tousan!" she cheered happily as she came over and hugged the bridge builder.

"Tsunami, how are you?" Tazuna asked, she nodded in response.

"Where's Inari?" the old man asked.

"He's already asleep. I don't think he expected you to return so late.

Team 7 then approached the woman, and bowed.

"Tsunami-san, nice to meet you. If you don't mind, my team and I need to rest, you wouldn't mind, would you?" Kakashi asked.

"Not at all, after all, you helped my father come home safely." she responded.

The rest of the night was quick. Kakashi and his team quickly ate a small dinner before heading to their room and passing out, exhausted.

A long way away, deep in the forest were two figures. One kneeling down, the other laid on their back.

The tracker nin went to grab the senbon from Zabuza's neck, before his hand suddenly gripped the girls wrist, stopping her.

"I'll do it myself." he said, and ripped out the needles.

"You've already come back to life..." she said.

"Damn, you really are rough, aren't you..." Zabuza commented.

"You too. You mustn't just pull them out hastily like that." she told him, which he just grunted in response.

"How long you gonna keep that thing on?" he asked, referring to the mask she was wearing.

In response, she reached up and took the mask off. It revealed a beautiful perfect face with hazel brown eyes, as well as a pretty smile.

"If I hadn't rescued you, you certainly would have been killed." she told him.

Zabuza attempted to move and get up, but his body struggled.

"You'll be numb for about a week and won't be able to move. But since you're Zabuza, perhaps you'll recover quicker." she said.

"You're innocent, smart, and untainted... That's what's good about you." Zabuza told her.

She then proceeded to stand up and look across the clearing as the mist and fog began to clear.

"The mist has cleared. Will you be alright next time? I was observing those two genin, they were no pushovers." Haku said.

"Next time, I'll be able to handle Kakashi's sharingan. You can handle the other Sharingan user, that Uchiha kid. As for that white haired kid, there's something about him that throws me off, something tells me he'll be trouble. So I think I'll call in that favor that I still have from Mangetsu." Zabuza said, surprising Haku.

"You're gonna get Mangetsu-san just to get rid of the white haired boy? Isn't that a little excessive?" Haku questioned her master.

"No. Even if I tell him to kill the kid, he won't. After all, Mangetsu is still loyal to Kirigakure, while I'm rogue. He wouldn't want to be publicly known to be assisting a traitor of Kirigakure. He'll most likely just delay the kid from getting involved in your fight with the Uchiha." Zabuza told her.

He got a nod from the girl in response.

The entire team slept in for a while, in attempt to recover from their previous fight.

Currently, Team 7 was having a meeting in their room. Apparently, Kakashi needed to talk to them about something important.

The three genin observed the grim look on Kakashi's face, as he had a deep look of contemplation.

"What's wrong, sensei?" Sakura spoke up first.

"Tracker shinobi usually take care of the bodies of the people they've killed, immediately on the spot. Do you see what I'm getting at?" Kakashi said.

The first to realize was Naruto, who's eyes widen.

"I see." Naruto said in realization.

"What?" Sasuke asked, making Naruto turn to him.

"Remember yesterday? That tracker shinobi took Zabuza's body away, which could mean that they were working with him." Naruto explained.

"Huh? That doesn't seem right..." Sakura said, while Sasuke began to think about it as well.

The old bridge builder had been listening in on their conversation. "What are you guys talking about?!" he complained.

"I suspect that Zabuza is still alive." Kakashi said with a serious look on his face.

"Wait! I thought you confirmed his death?" Sakura questioned.

"I'm assuming that Zabuza was put into a near-death state by those senbon from the tracker shinobi.

There was a long silence in the room.

"We must make preparations. Zabuza most likely won't be able to recover for about a week. So in that time we are going to train." Kakashi told them.

"Training is useless." Inari said, from the doorway, before he ran up to Tazuna and gave him a hug.

Not too long later, Sasuke was going back upstairs to grab some supplies, and while doing so he saw Inari in his room crying over his dead dad. It reminded Sasuke of his past self, after the massacre.

Currently, Kakashi was standing across from Naruto, Sasuke, and Sakura. They were standing in a clearing of trees and a lake right nearby.

"Our training now begins. This training will be further increasing your control over chakra." Kakashi told them.

"Why? We are already capable of using chakra to use jutsu." Sasuke said.

"You're not wrong. But, with these chakra exercises that I'm going to assign to you three will allow you to manipulate your chakra in a way you have never been able to do before. It helps decrease chakra cost on your jutsu, and allows you to increase your strength and speed." Kakashi explained to them.

They were now more interested and listened closely.

"First. Tree-Climbing." Kakashi said, making them almost trip over themselves.

"I see that you're skeptical, just watch." Kakashi told them.

He then proceeded to walk over to a nearby tree before placing his foot on the truck, and continuing to walk up the trunk of the tree sideways without the use of any hands, with his entire body facing horizontally.

"This training requires you to use your chakra on your feet like a suction to keep you connected to the surface." Kakashi explained.

He then threw three kunai at their feet. "Use those to mark how high you go. Begin!" Kakashi ordered them.

Over the next couple hours, the three genin proceeded to run up the side of trees without their hands to increase their chakra.

Sakura was capable of mastering this exercise instantly, but Kakashi made her continuing to train on it to increase her reserves further.

Sasuke and Naruto were progressing at the same speed and were able to make it to the top of the tree within a few hours, impressing Kakashi.

"Alright, that's enough! I want to know show you the next step of your chakra training." he told them.

The jonin then began to lead them to the nearby lake and had the three of them watch him.

"This exercise is very similar to the tree-climbing. We will be doing Water-Walking, and instead of using the chakra on your feet as a suction, you must use the chakra on your feet to produce a constant wave from your feet to keep yourself afloat." Kakashi explained.

He then walked forward and stood on the water, impressing them.

"Alright, you may begin! Oh yeah... your clothes will get wet by the way." Kakashi told them a bit too late, as all three fell in fully clothed, making him eye-smile.

The water walking exercise was completely different than the tree climbing exercise when it came to difficulty. With the tree climbing, all you had to do was adjust your chakra by a set amount to make sure you have enough grip or make sure not to break the bark. While with the water walking exercise, you have to be constantly changing the amount of chakra you release at all times.

Sakura was only barely able to complete the exercise after the 2nd day. While Naruto and Sasuke still continued to work on the 4th day. After training for a while, in the morning, Naruto went back to the house for breakfast, while Sasuke continued to train, before taking a nap in the forest.

While resting, Sasuke suddenly felt a nearby presence and quickly withdrew a kunai. Looking ahead he saw a girl curiously looking at him.

The girl had long black hair and was wearing a sleeveless pink yukata. She had a basket in her hand which seemed to be filled with herbs.

"What're doing out here this early, you'll catch a cold." the girl said with a soft smile.

The Uchiha genin observed the girl, before he realized that her face was close to his, catching him off guard and backed off quickly.

After recovering he looked back up at her. "I can say the same to you." Sasuke retorted.

"I'm out here gathering healing herbs for my injured friend." she answered him.

There was an awkward silence between the two. Or at least it felt awkward to Sasuke.

"I see that you're a shinobi. Are you here on a mission or something?" she questioned.

"As a shinobi, I cannot disclose any information about something like that." he answered.

"O-Oh, my apologies... Is there something important that you fight for?" she asked him.

This question caught the Uchiha off guard.

"You're training right. Is there some important reason for that?" she questioned.

Narrowed eyes from the Uchiha showed her that he thought about it.

"Do you have somebody precious in your life?" she asked once more.

From this Sasuke thought of Naruto. Even recently he's seen Sakura and Kakashi in a similar light.

"When a person has something precious they want to protect, that's when they can truly become strong." the girl said.

This statement made Sasuke think once more.

'If I fight to protect... I'll become stronger? As a future Hokage, that is one thing I assume I must do. Also to protect my comrades.' Sasuke thought.

He then looked back up at her. "I see. I think I understand now. Thank you... uh, what's your name?" Sasuke asked,

The girl picked up her filled basket, before responding. "My name is Haku." she told him.

"You'll get strong. I hope we meet again somewhere. See you around sometime, Sasuke-kun." Haku said, as she then left.

Sasuke simply watched her back as she left, thinking about her words. One thing that he didn't pick up was that... He never told her his name.

Later that night, the team was eating dinner with their client and his daughter and grandson.

"You've all improved, I'm proud of you. But don't forget to rest before we defend against Zabuza." Kakashi told them.

The team nodded in response.

"W-Why..." Inari said, with tear rolling down his cheeks

"Hmm?" Kakashi responded, as the rest of the team looked over.

"Why do you desperately work so hard until you get all messed up?! There's absolutely no way for people like you to take down Gato and his men even if you continuously train! No matter what things you say or how much effort you make... the weak always lose out... against the strong!" Inari exclaimed.

Everyone simply stared at the boy as he had an outburst.

The surprising one to speak up first was Sasuke.

"Shut up. We're shinobi, not weak like you." Sasuke told the boy.

"No! You shut up! Just looking at you guys make me sick! Sticking your nose in even though you know nothing! You guys know nothing of what true pain feels like, you don't know what it's like-!" Inari exclaimed before getting interrupted.

"You want me to cut your throat." Sasuke threatened the boy with a cold tone, scaring him.

"You think we know nothing of pain? We are shinobi where we witness and kill people all day. Whining all day isn't going to change anything. So you just sit there and keep quiet about things you don't understand." Sasuke told the boy, as he then stood up.

"S-Sasuke-kun! That was a bit harsh." Sakura said.

The Uchiha ignored her and walked towards the door.

"Where are you going?" Sakura asked.

"A walk." was all he said, before leaving.

The pink haired genin turned to her other two teammates.

"Why didn't you stop him." she attempted to say, before looking at them.

Naruto stood up and she saw something in his eyes she was scared of. It was an emotionless ice cold glare as he walked by her upstairs to his room. Kakashi simply opened up his orange book to not show anything.

It was the next morning. This was the day that Kakashi suspected Zabuza to attack.

Currently, Kakashi, Sasuke, and Sakura were standing with Tazuna in front of the house, early in the morning.

"Naruto. I want you to stay here long enough until you make the judgement that Gato won't be sending any men after Inari or Tsunami-san." Kakashi ordered.

A nod came from Naruto.

"Alright. C'mon you three, let's go to the bridge." Kakashi said, as they then made their trek to the bridge.

About another hour later, Kakashi, Sasuke, and Sakura, alongside Tazuna arrived at the bridge to see all of the workers passed out. They then observed a mist rolling onto the bridge, confirming Kakashi's hunch.

"Sasuke! Sakura! They're coming!" Kakashi said.

They were on edge, as Sakura stood in front of Tazuna. While Sasuke stood beside his sensei, prepared to fight.

"I knew that he was still alive. Making an appearance so soon, huh..." Kakashi said.

"Sorry to have kept you waiting, Kakashi. I see you've got two of those brats with you." Zabuza's voice echoed through the mist across the bridge.

The mist slightly cleared, revealing Zabuza who was now in a all black outfit, alongside his masked tracker nin partner.

The sound of metal rattling came from Sasuke who held his tanto which was shaking.

"He's still trembling, poor thing." Zabuza said, as the trembling suddenly came to a stop.

"No." Sasuke said, confusing them. "I'm trembling with excitement." he said.

An eye-smile came from Kakashi, who then nodded to Sasuke, who quickly destroyed all of the water clones that had surrounded them.

The battle of the bridge had begun.

The sound of the front door of the house breaking down. Two thugs with katanas came in and glared down at Inari who was scared.

They proceeded to grab Tsunami as a hostage, and began to take her away.

"WAIT! DON'T TAKE MY MOM!" Inari yelled at them.

This made them glare the boy and prepare their swords.

"Don't. Leave him alone, if you do anything to him, I'll bite my own tongue and kill myself." Tsunami said.

In response, they simply knocked Tsunami out, and went to kill Inari.

Suddenly both of their heads were disconnected from their bodies, shocking Inari.

Naruto was standing above them with his bloodied tanto, and held onto Tsunami. He then turned to Inari with a stoic look, before he then laid Tsunami down gently on the ground, before he turned around.

"Watch over your mother." Naruto told the boy who could only nod, while still in shock over Naruto killing the men.

The white haired genin then leaped off towards the bridge. He continued on for a while through the forest before he got to a point where he could see the large body of water and the bridge.

He looked closer and saw that there was a battle occuring on the bridge.

'I'll run across the water to get there quicker.' Naruto thought as he used his recent training to use to run across the water.

He began to get close to the bridge before suddenly a mist appeared on the water, making him slide to a stop.

The genin narrowed his eyes, before closing them. They then snapped open as he quickly grabbed his tanto to block an attack from a sword.

Naruto then jumped back to get some distance to observe the new enemy.

The man in front of him was about five-foot nine in height and had shoulder length white hair. His hair was kept out of his eyes by a Kirigakure shinobi headband. His teeth was sharp. He was wearing a sleeveless black shirt and had bandages resting on his shoulders like a scarf. He was also wearing dark purple pants with blue striped shinobi sandals. He also had a simple standard katana at his waist.

"Oh. So you're the kid that Zabuza wanted me to stall, huh? You're definitely good, being able to deflect my first attack." the man said.

'Who's this? Another Kiri nukenin?' Naruto thought in confusion.

"I'm Hozuki Mangetsu. I'm a Kirigakure shinobi, also apart of the Kiri no Shinobigatana Shichinin Shu." Mangetsu introduced himself.

Slightly widened eyes, showed Naruto's surprise.

'He's a Shinobigatana from Kiri?!' Naruto thought in shock.

Mangetsu seeing his surprise, grinned, showing off his sharp teeth.

"Don't worry, I won't kill you. I'm just here to stall you. Look, I don't even have my special sword with me, I only have a simple Katana. Besides, if it was known by Kirigakure that I'm helping a nukenin, then that would end badly for me. So killing you would be a bad play on my part, because it would then attract attention to myself, which is not wanted. I'm only here as a favor from Zabuza." Mangetsu told the genin.

The kiri shinobi received silence as a response.

"But... That doesn't mean I'll go easy on you." Mangetsu said as he unsheathed his katana.

Seeing this, Naruto unsheathed his tanto and prepared to fight the man, and help his team.

The swordsman was instantly on Naruto with a swing, which Naruto hastily blocked and jumped back to create space.

After making the genin retreat, Mangetsu went through hand signs.

"Suiton: Suigadan no jutsu!" Mangetsu called out, creating multiple water tendrils which surrounded and went to attack Naruto.

Observing the water attack, Naruto went through hand signs.

"Raiton: Ikazuchi!" Naruto called out, and generated lightning around him, which made the water tendrils dissipate before they reached him.

'Using Raiton against Suiton... He's a bold one, isn't he.' Mangetsu thought with a grin.

A chuckle came from the swordsman. "Then how will you deal with this." Mangetsu said and went through more hand signs.

"Suiton: Suishoha!" Mangetsu called out, releasing a high powered stream of water which would kill Naruto instantly upon impact.

Seeing the jutsu in front of him, Naruto's options were limited. He couldn't simply dodge it, even with his impressive speed, he wasn't fast enough. He couldn't substitute with anything as they were on the water, not near any objects.

'I have no choice but to attempt that jutsu!' Naruto hastily thought as the water sliced at him.

The high powered stream of water hit right at Naruto's spot, before he suddenly flickered out of existence, shocking Mangetsu.

'W-What?!' the swordsman thought and looked to side, and saw Naruto reappear with another flicker.

Panting came from the genin, as he then collapsed to a knee.

A grin came from Mangetsu after understanding. "I see. So you used a makeshift version of Shunshin no jutsu on the fly. Very impressive." Mangetsu said.

'But... even though the jutsu isn't complete, my body isn't used to the jutsu, and it takes up too much chakra.' Naruto thought as he stood back up.

Mangetsu readied his sword. "Let's get to fighting. Okay." Mangetsu said with a playful grin.

In response, Naruto readied his tanto once again, before the two of them charged at each other.

Naruto used his half-baked shunshin to appear above Mangetsu and swung his sword down at him, which he dodged. Naruto launched multiple more slashes which were dodged before slashing at Mangetsu's feet, which he dodged by jumping upwards. Naruto jumped up after him swung his tanto at the man who blocked with his katana, before deflecting Naruto's tanto and swing down at Naruto who dodged, making the sword hit the water.

Mangetsu swung his sword out of the water, spraying the liquid into Naruto's face to attempt to make him lose focus. During the moment Naruto was caught off guard, Mangetsu then thrusted his sword at Naruto who saw and jumped over the blade and landed on top of the blade with one foot, before jumping off and swung at Mangetsu who jumped out of the way.

The genin panted as he attempted to keep up with the master swordsman who was clearing playing with him.

"Oh. You're pretty good for genin. I'd say you might even be Chunin level, but..." Mangetsu comments on the Naruto's skills.

"But... This is as far as you go." Mangetsu finished.

The swordsman lifted his free hand and pointed at Naruto, confusing him until he saw a droplet of water form on his fingertip.

"Suiton: Mizudeppo no jutsu!" he called out, releasing a lightning fast water bullet at Naruto, intending to end the fight.

Naruto's eyes widened as with lightning fast reaction time, he threw a kunai behind Mangetsu's head, who paid the kunai no mind.

Right when the water bullet was about to hit Naruto in the chest, it hit a kunai instead, shattering the metal tool into pieces.

Behind Mangetsu, Naruto flickered into existence, replacing himself with the kunai from earlier, shocking Mangetsu.

"W-What?!" Mangetsu exclaimed in shock.

Naruto swung his tanto once more at the swordsman who was caught off guard. Mangetsu quickly brought up his katana to block the tanto slash, but was only able to partially block the blow, as part of his arm was still cut. Quickly, Mangetsu kicked Naruto in the abdomen, separating them.

The genin got back up and was ready to continue, before he saw Mangetsu raise his hand up, palm facing him.

"That's enough. This fight is over." he said, confusing Naruto.

"I'm sure that I've stalled you long enough. I'd rather not physically confront Zabuza or Kakashi without my real sword anyway." Mangetsu told Naruto, before he raised his hand with the half ram hand seal, before he was surrounded by water before he flickered away.

A sigh came from Naruto who sheathed his Tanto. Suddenly a loud scream was heard from above him at the bridge.

'I have to get up there quickly!' Naruto thought urgently as began to run up the pillars of the building, before arriving on top of the bridge, unseen.

He observed the bridge with keen eyes. Currently on the far side was Sakura and Tazuna who she was defending. Not too far away from those two were Kakashi and Zabuza who were in the middle of their rematch.

The most noticeable thing on the bridge was the massive dome of what looked like Ice mirrors. When Naruto looked inside he saw Sasuke, who had his two tomoe sharingan activated and was being sprayed with senbon.

'That must be the tracker nin's jutsu...' Naruto thought.

The tracker nin then peppered Sasuke with more senbon, who attempted to dodge but was still hit.

'D-Damn it... Even with my Sharingan, my body can't keep up...' Sasuke thought in annoyance.

"With this next attack... you will go down." she said, preparing senbon in her hand.

Sasuke clicked his teeth in annoyance as he struggled to regain his balance. Then suddenly she sprung from her mirrors at high speed straight as Sasuke who couldn't react in time. Right when she was about to hit him, she was suddenly kicked in the masked face, knocking her back into a mirror.

The Uchiha looked up in shock as Naruto was next to him.

"What took you so long?" Sasuke said in irritation.

"Zabuza sent another Kirigakure shinobi to stall me." Naruto told him, surprising him.

"Did you kill him?" Sasuke asked, getting a shake of a head in response.

He was going to ask his teammate more questions before they saw the tracker nin re-enter into one of her mirrors. She then sprayed them with more senbon, which Naruto was only barely able to dodge, and was still hit in the arm, while Sasuke couldn't even move, and was fully hit.

"C'mon, Sasuke. Get it together." Naruto told him, as he himself was panting.

'But he's not the only one. I'm low on chakra and stamina... that fight with Mangetsu drained me.' Naruto thought.

The masked nin then readied more senbon, while the genin panted with exhaustion.

"Please give up, and let us kill the bridge builder. I don't want to have to kill you." she said.

The two of them ignored her words, as they couldn't believe an enemy shinobi.

Seeing that they wouldn't listen, she prepared her weapons. "Very well..." she said.

She then quickly flashed between her mirrors, confusing Naruto who couldn't keep track of her.

'While she's going that fast, I can barely keep up with her. I'll have to infuse my body with chakra to keep up with her. If I do that though, I will almost be out of chakra... If I don't take care of her quick, both Sasuke and I will be done for...' Naruto analyzed the situation.

Multiple senbon were sent from the mirrors. Naruto quickly reacted and pulled out a kunai and deflected the senbon shocking her.

'W-What?! He was able to block those?!' Haku thought in shock.

The tracker nin then looked over to Sasuke who was panting and was barely clinging to conscious. She then flashed out of her mirror, determined to put Sasuke out of commision. Naruto saw this with wide eyes.

'What?! He's going after Sasuke! I won't make it in time!' Naruto thought as he then quickly used up the last of his chakra to perform a shunshin.

The white haired genin flickered across the distance and took all of the senbon that was meant for Sasuke who wasn't aware. Naruto tanked the hit and quickly grabbed the tracker nin and flung her into a mirror with his momentum, cracking the mirror.

The Uchiha looked up from his position and saw the tracker nin on the ground, surprising him, before he looked forward and saw that Naruto was standing in front of him, clearly showing that he defended him.

"N-Naruto..." Sasuke said in pain, before his eyes widened as he saw that Naruto's form was fully covered in senbon.

Naruto's eyes were glazed over and dull as he struggled to stay up with his bloodied body.

"W-Why... Why would you do that?! You should just mind your own business!" Sasuke exclaimed in frustration.

"I don't know... My body just moved on it's own..." Naruto responded as he coughed up blood, before his body collapsed backwards, and Sasuke caught him.

The Namikaze looked up at Sasuke with his dull eyes. "I... I guess I couldn't find out my answers... Don't die... my... friend..." Naruto said, before his eyes closed.

The Uchiha simply looked down at his friend with wide coal colored eyes. He then looked down at the ground, with his hair shadowing his eyes.

The tracker nin struggled to get up, but eventually looked over at what happened.

"Is this the first time that you've lost a comrade?" Haku asked.

She received silence as an answer.

Suddenly a hot chakra began to steam from Sasuke's body. If one looked closely there were small traces of flames at his feet, and it looked like small amounts of steam were coming from his skin.

The Uchiha then lifted his head and glared at the tracker nin with cold sharingan eyes, which displayed his third tomoe.

"I'll kill you." was all he said.

Instantly, Sasuke flickered beside the tracker nin, shocking her.

'W-WHAT!? WHAT SPEED!' she thought in shock as Sasuke then kicked her in the ribs, making her cough blood through her mask.

He body was thrown to the other side of the dome, and cracked against a mirror. Before she could even recover, Sasuke blitzed her and brought his steaming hand up to her masked face and punched her through the mirror, fulling breaking it, destroying the entire jutsu. He body was sent flying across the bridge and rolled like a ragdoll before coming to a stop.

Haku struggled to get up with her beat up body. Eventually she reached her feet and looked across the bridge back at Sasuke. Her masked was fully cracked, and pieces were beginning to fall apart.

The Uchiha with his new three tomoe sharingan looked back over at Naruto, before his eyes widened.

'T-This... His chakra is still circulating! He's still alive! This must be a new ability of my matured Sharingan...' Sasuke thought as he was now able to observe the chakra of Naruto with his matured Sharingan's increased chakra perception.

He then turned back to the tracker nin, and then blitzed across the distance, prepared to finish them, before her mask fell off. The sight before him shocked him as he then slid to a stop, a couple feet in front of her.

"It's you... Haku." Sasuke said in surprise.

"Why are you stopping... I killed your comrade." Haku said in confusion.

"No. He isn't dead, you made sure not to kill him." Sasuke said, after confirming with his Sharingan.

In response, Haku stayed quiet at this.

"Why do you want to die?" Sasuke questioned her, shocking her.

"H-Huh... What?" she said in shock.

"That look in your eye... I've seen it before. I saw it Naruto's eye before. Let me guess, you feel that you failed your master over there so you pretended to kill my comrade to attempt to use me to kill you, right?" Sasuke said, surprising her that he knew.

The two of them remained silent, and the only sound on the bridge was the clashing of Kakashi and Zabuza not too far away.

Eventually Haku eventually told him about her past in Kirigakure, and the civil war that involved the bloodline purge. She told him about how Zabuza was the only one who actually gave her existence purpose, and that she wishes to help complete his dream.

"You may feel that way... But what about yourself? Don't you want to complete your own dream?" Sasuke questioned.

Haku narrowed her eyes at that.

'My dream? What I truly want is...' Haku thought as she thought back to her family before her father killed her mother, and she killed her father.

Suddenly, the sound of loud birds chirping ringed across the bridge. Haku's eyes snapped open, before she looked over at Sasuke.

"I'm sorry, Sasuke-kun. But it seems that I have no time to worry about my own dream." she told him.

The girl quickly hand through hand signs, before she flickered away, making Sasuke realizing what she was about to, and ran after her.

Running through the mist, he made it just in time to see Kakashi run his Raikiri straight through the left side of Haku's chest, instead of his intended target, Zabuza. All three, Sasuke, Kakashi, and Zabuza looked at this in shock.

"H-Haku..." Zabuza said, still in shock.

The swordsman then quickly grabbed his Kubikiribocho and went to slice both Kakashi and Haku in half. Kakashi couldn't get out of the girl's grip, so he picked her up and jumped out of the way, before laying her body down and taking his arm out of her chest.

"Sensei!" Sasuke called out to Kakashi who turned to him.

"Stay out of this. I'll finish Zabuza." Kakashi told his student.

The next couple minutes consisted of Zabuza struggling to keep up with Kakashi who easily wiped the floor with the swordsman, while Sasuke watched in awe. Eventually Kakashi disabled both of Zabuza's arms, who couldn't keep fighting due to Haku's death.

During this, Sasuke went over to Haku's body and looked at her with sadness. He truly felt that she was somebody who understood him, similar to Naruto, and he was grateful for the words that she had given him in the forest.

Eventually Gato had arrived with hundreds of his hired goons. Zabuza had then proceed to massacre most of the thugs by himself, with a simple kunai in his mouth, before he eventually killed Gato, but he had taken fatal wounds in the process, and eventually died.

After this, the goons were upset, that their source of income was gone, and prepared to attack. In response, Kakashi quickly massacred the rest with simple ease.

Eventually, Naruto had woken up and was extremely injured, but was fine.

The team had then returned to Tazuna's house to rest up

It's been a couple days since the battle on the bridge. They all rested up in preparation for their trek back to Konoha.

Once both Naruto and Sasuke recovered, he received their reports. He was extremely proud of their growth and strength. He was impressed that Naruto had been able to use an incomplete shunshin. He was also somewhat surprised that Sasuke had awakened his third tomoe.

Currently, Team 7 was at the front of the bridge, facing Tazuna and his family.

"Thanks to you, and many other sacrifices, the bridge was safely completed." Tazuna said.

"Thank you for everything." Kakashi said, and they then turned and began to their journey back to Konoha.

Tazuna smiled as they walked away.

"Thanks to them, and the other's who lives were lost for this bridge, we have regained hope.

"Speaking of bridges, don't we need a name for the bridge?" Tsunami asked.

"Hmm... How about... The Bridge of Sacrifices? To honor those who helped create this bridge." Tazuna said.

AUTHOR'S NOTES:

This is the end of the Land of Waves arc.

I skipped over parts that remained canon.

Naruto increased in skill when it came to learning an incomplete shunshin.

Sasuke was able to gain his third tomoe of his Sharingan. He also gained another power while he was enraged. (the power wasn't complete, but when it is complete, it will be somewhat similar to hinokami kagura from demon slayer, or second gear from one piece) he wont fully learn this power for a while

I hope you enjoyed.

The next chapter will be the beginning of the Chunin Exams.
