This is my first ever fanfic story that I have written. Please be gentle. If there are any spelling or grammar mistakes, then that's fine. However, if you could please write reviews on how well I am writing, and give feedback and advice, that would be appreciated! Thank you!
By the way, I do not own naruto in any way. Masashi Kishimoto has that honor.
It's been a couple weeks since the battle on the bridge in Nami no Kuni. Currently, Team 7 had just returned from their mission, and were standing in front of the Hokage who was waiting for the report.
"So if I'm hearing this right... You decided to continue with a mission that went from a C-Rank to a B-Rank, and eventually A-Rank mission?" Hiruzen questioned.
A nervous chuckle came from the lazy jonin. "I guess when you put it that way... It does sound pretty irresponsible, doesn't it?" Kakashi assumed.
Hiruzen simply sighed and rubbed his temple.
"Alright, you three may leave. Kakashi, you stay." Hiruzen ordered.
The three genin nodded before turning to Kakashi.
"You three go get some food or something, I want to talk to you guys about something afterwards." Kakashi told them as they then left.
The jonin turned back and looked at his leader with a serious look.
"How did they do?" Hiruzen questioned.
"They did far better than one would expect from a genin team on an A-Rank difficulty mission." Kakashi responded.
"Details." his leader requested.
"Right. Sakura did extremely well by being a support and prioritizing the mission's main objective, which was to defend the bridge builder. Whenever we encountered enemies, she made quick use of the Doton defensive jutsu that I had taught her." Kakashi told the elder who nodded him to continue.
"With Naruto, he reported that he had fought against a member of the shinobigatana of Kiri. He encountered Hozuki Mangetsu, who I had checked the bingo book afterwards, and apparently he is one of the most gifted swordsman. According to Naruto, he said that he was only there to stall Naruto on a favor from Zabuza that he still owed. During the fight Naruto had ended up learning the Shunshin no jutsu, though it is incomplete." Kakashi told him.
Hiruzen took in this shocking information all at once.
"It seems that Naruto is getting stronger." Hiruzen commented.
"Yes, but he's not the only one." Kakashi said, getting Hiruzen to nod.
"Sasuke faced off against Zabuza's partner, who I believe was a survivor of the Yuki clan from Kirigakure, as she used Hyoton ninjutsu. Sasuke struggled against the girl at first, before after Naruto got taken out by her, he awakened his third tomoe of his sharingan. After that, even though it didn't seem that Sasuke was fully aware, he was unconsciously using Katon chakra to increase his speed and strength, though it damaged his body heavily. I only saw it from a distance, and when I asked Sasuke about it, he didn't seem to understand how he did it in the first place." Kakashi explained.
The Hokage adopted a complentative look on his face, and hummed.
"It seems that Sasuke has an extremely high affinity for Katon, as expected from the Uchiha clan. I believe Itachi was the same." Hiruzen told him.
The jonin waited for his superior to finish with his thoughts.
"Alright, that's all Kakashi. Make sure you fully train Shunshin to Naruto eventually so he doesn't injure himself while attempting to use it. Also, with Sasuke gaining his matured Sharingan, you're the only one who can train him. Don't forget to help Sakura either." Hiruzen ordered him.
"Of course, Hokage-sama." Kakashi responded with a bow, before leaving the office.
After leaving the office, on orders from the Hokage and their sensei, they had eaten lunch, before arriving at their usual team training meeting place.
Eventually there was a poof of smoke, which revealed Kakashi.
"So, what is that you wanted to talk to us about, Kakashi-sensei?" Sakura was the first to ask.
"This is sort of sudden, but I wanted to tell you guys early to give you time to prepare." Kakashi said, confusing them.
There was a serious silence between them.
"Within a couple weeks, the Chunin Exams are going to begin. I've already recommended you guys, so here, these are your applications." Kakashi told them as he then pulled out three slips of paper, which registered them for the exam.
"If you decide you partake in the exam, sign that application and come to room 301 of the academy at 3pm, 2 weeks from now." Kakashi told them.
The three genin then looked between each other with a serious look, before nodding.
Kakashi observed this, with an eye-smile. 'It seems that they are getting better as a team...' Kakashi thought with pride.
"That being said, we will still have training meetings everyday. I will be training you guys individually as well." Kakashi told them.
This statement confused them slightly.
"Individually? Why?" Sasuke asked.
"Because while the first two parts of the exam are considered team exams. The final part is individual, and requires your own skills without the help or assistance of your comrades. I can't give you anymore information than that." Kakashi informed them.
Kakashi then flickered away, god knows where. The team then stood their before beginning to walk away all thinking of the Chunin Exams.
'If I prove myself at the Chunin Exams, then I can prove that I can help Naruto and Sasuke-kun.' Sakura thought.
'There will be more powerful enemies at the Exam who I can test my strength against.' Sasuke thought.
'If I can become a Chunin, I'll be able to get more missions, and be allowed to know my mother's identity.' Naruto thought.
These were the thoughts of the team as they walked back into the middle of town, before they heard the scream of a child, alerting them. They quickly ran towards the sound around a corner, and saw the grandson of the Hokage, being held by the hem of his shirt by a teenager.
The teen was wearing what looked like a black jumpsuit with a cat like hood. The teen had purple face paint, and he had a rather large object which was wrapped up in bandages on his back. He was also accompanied by a girl, who wore a white shinobi dress with a red sash, she had dirty blonde hair which was tied up in four pigtails. She also had a closed battle fan on her back.
The most noticeable trait of the two was there headband, which displayed them as Sunagakure shinobi.
"Hey! I'd let that kid go if I were you." Sasuke spoke up, getting their attention.
"Huh?! Why is that, punk?!" Kankuro questioned, irritated.
"Because, that's the Sandaime Hokage-sama's grandson." Naruto spoke up as well.
A look of shock came across the suna shinobi's face as he then quickly dropped the boy, who ran over to them. Sakura then looked at him and used a quick basic medical diagnostic jutsu, which she had been learning over the months.
"I knew this was a bad idea." Temari told her brother.
"Heh, I don't care. I'm still going to wipe the floor with them." Kankuro said and reach his hand for his wrapped object.
This didn't go unseen by Naruto or Sasuke. The two of them blitzed across the distance between their enemies. Sasuke appeared in front of Kankuro with one hand, prevented him from using his puppet, and the other had his tanto pointed at him.
Seeing this, Temari went to grab her fan, but was stopped as Naruto unsheathed his tanto and held it against her neck, from behind, shocking her.
'When did he get behind me?! He's fast!' Temari thought as she looked into Naruto's cold icy dull purple eyes, which looked more gray than purple.
There was silence as the stalemate kept the four of them frozen for a while.
Suddenly, Naruto's eyes widened as he felt a strong chakra nearby.
'W-What is this chakra!? It's almost like...' Naruto thought, before regaining his composure.
He then narrowed his eyes up into a nearby tree, and saw a wisp of sand.
"You, up there. Come out." Naruto called out, confusing the others.
Surprising the others, with a whirlwind of sand, another Suna shinobi appeared. He was rather short for his age, and had short red hair. He was wearing a dark brown shinobi garb, and had a large gourd on his back. He had cold teal colored eyes, and a red kanji on his left forehead.
Almost instantly upon looking into each other's eyes, both Naruto and Gaara knew.
'There's no doubt about it...' Gaara thought, glaring down at Naruto.
'...He is a jinchuuriki as well.' Naruto thought while glaring back at the redhead.
"G-Gaara!" Kankuro said in fear.
"Shut up. You're a disgrace to Suna. C'mon, we're leaving." Gaara said, as he then dropped from the tree next to his teammates.
Naruto and Sasuke let go of the other two, and backed up, and watched the three beginning to leave.
"You... What's your name?" Naruto questioned the redhead.
Said redhead, turned. "Sabaku no Gaara. I'm interested in you as well, you too dark haired one." Gaara said to both Naruto and Sasuke.
"Namikaze Naruto." the white haired genin replied.
"Uchiha Sasuke" the Uchiha responded.
A grunt came from the redhead as him and his team then proceeded to leave them.
After this encounter, the entirety of Team 7 was even more determined to become stronger for the Chunin Exams.
Over the next two weeks Team 7 with help from Kakashi had increased and trained their individual skills in preparation for the Chunin Exams.
Sakura had learned a couple offensive Doton ninjutsu, so that she didn't just have defense.
Sasuke had mastered his matured Sharingan with Kakashi's help, and learned more Katon ninjutsu.
Naruto had finally fully learned Shunshin no jutsu, and was capable of using it efficiently outside of fights. But in battle, using Shunshin was still extremely taxing on his body and chakra reserves, so per Kakashi's request, he shouldn't use it in a fight unless absolutely necessary.
Currently it was the day of the Chunin Exams, and all three genin of Team 7 were walking through the halls of the Academy, on their way to room 301. They proceeded through the halls before coming up to a room which a crowd of people were around, the door number displayed 301.
The white haired genin narrowed his eyes at the number. Before his eyes the number faded from 301 to 201. But of course, the other genin who were struggling to get into the room didn't realize this and weren't aware of the genjutsu.
He then turned to his other two teammates who nodded after seeing the genjutsu. The three of them then decided to remain undetected from the other teams as they procced to slip past everyone and go forward towards the stairs, before they were interrupted.
"You two are the Uchiha prodigy and Rookie of the Year, aren't you?" a genin from behind them called out, getting their attention.
The boy seemed to be around a year older than them, as he was about five-foot two in height. He had shiny black hair which was styled in a bowl cut, and had the thickest eyebrows any has seen. He also had big round eyes, and was wearing a green skintight suit, with his headband tied around his waist.
The boy was also flanked by what they assumed were his two teammates.
The first was another boy, around five-foot three in height. He had long brown hair, and pale lavender eyes, which showed off his Hyuuga clan status. He was wearing a white thick collared shirt, and black shorts. His right arm and leg were wrapped in bandages.
The second was a girl, around five-foot in height. She had brown hair which was tied up in two buns. She was wearing a pink sleeveless chinese style shirt, and green pants.
"I want to fight the two of you." the green suited genin said.
This made Sasuke smirk, and was about to step forward before a hand latched onto his shoulder. He turned and saw it was Naruto, who gave him a small shake of his head.
'They most likely already have information on us. They're just testing us right now, let's ignore them.' Naruto signalled with hand signs, which didn't go unnoticed by the Byakugan user of the other team, but he still didn't understand what they said.
A click of Sasuke's teeth showed that he wanted to fight, but he understood his white haired teammates logic.
They then turned and began to walk up the stairs, ignoring the team, surprising green suited boy.
"See, Lee. I knew they weren't going to fall for it." the girl said.
"But, Tenten, I wanted to fight them." Lee said in an upset voice.
"They were logical about the situation. They aren't stupid." Neji said.
Back to Team 7, they made it to the room and saw Kakashi briefly, who gave them a good luck.
Right when they were about to walk in, Kakashi gripped Naruto's shoulder, getting his attention.
"Keep an eye on the other two." Kakashi whispered, getting a nod in response.
They proceeded to enter the the room, and were blasted with what others would think would be killing intent. But for the three genin, it was child's play, especially after they had faced someone like Zabuza. Not only that, but Kakashi after seeing their reactions to Zabuza's killing intent the first time, proceeded to then train them in handling and being able to shield themselves from it.
They ignored everyone else, until eventually their team lost everyone's attention. Afterwards, many teams from their graduating class came by and began to attempt to talk, which included Team 8, Team 10, and even Team 5 and Team 6. Eventually another genin came by and gave them warnings about the exam.
The boy was at least a couple years older than them, as he said he's failed the exam multiple times. The boy introduced himself as Yakushi Kabuto, he had silver gray hair which was pulled back into a ponytail. He eventually began to give out information on the other teams, after many of the genin began asking about certain people.
It was shocking to Team 7 that when people asked about them, Kabuto was able to tell them extreme in depth detail of their missions record, and all of their skills, which no one should know besides each other and their sensei, Kakashi.
Their rambling was cut short by a loud voice at the front of the room, who introduced himself as Morino Ibiki, who is the proctor of the first exam, which he had then explained was a written test. Apparently, each team must have enough points in total over their team, and if even only one person fails, the entire team would then fail. They also said that being caught cheating, would result in losing points.
Currently, the test had begun, and Naruto and the others were already seated, but everyone was separated from their teammates.
The white haired genin narrowed his eyes down at the test.
'I'm sure that the other two have already realized the point of the test is to cheat...' Naruto thought, as he began his problems.
Most of the problems, didn't even require any cheating for Naruto. Ever since he had begun his training in the shinobi arts, he also made sure that it was important to not slack off on any of the academic teachings.
He looked around, and saw Sakura was simply smart enough to answer all of them, similar to himself. He also saw Sasuke use his sharingan to copy.
After getting through multiple problems, he eventually reached a problem that he knew he couldn't answer. He then proceeded to go through hand signs. Water began to form under his desk, and above the room, near the ceiling, unknown to the proctors. The two blobs of water then proceeded to form into flat surfaces, which became reflective, like mirrors.
Naruto had gained this simply water chakra manipulation exercise after observing Haku's ice mirrors. This jutsu, truly had no purpose, but it seemed to prove useful when gaining answers as he then answered all of his questions, before he disabled the water.
Eventually the allotted time that they were given, which was 45 minutes, had ended. It was now time for the proctor to reveal the final questioned, but not before he explained the rules of the last question. He revealed that you can choose not to take the question, but if you do decide to end up taking the question, if you fail it, you can never become a Chunin.
Naruto and Team 7 didn't fall for this, it reminded them to much of the look underneath the underneath lesson from Kakashi.
After hearing the threatening tone from the proctor, many teams had forfeited, showing their weak resolve. After all the teams that showed the were mentally weak had left, Ibiki had then announced to all of the teams that they had passed the first stage. There were confusion and excitement from the genin after this, but they didn't complain.
Afterwards, to everyone's surprise a new jonin proctor had crashed through the window. They introduced themselves as Mitarashi Anko. She was an average height woman with purple hair, and she wore clothes that didn't leave much to imagination. She had then announced that they were to follow her to the second phase of the Chunin Exams, before jumping out of the window once more, making the teams rush after her.
It's been a couple hours since the end of the first stage of the exams, and Anko led them to next stage. They had eventually been led to training ground 44, which was also known The Forest of Death.
She began to explain the rules and regulations of the second stage. Each team was given either a heaven or earth scroll at the beginning. The goal was to arrive at the tower at the center of the forest with one earth scroll, and one heaven scroll. However, if you didn't arrive with both of the scroll within 5 days, you would fail. If one of your teammates would die, or become unfit to continue, you would also fail.
After attempting to scare the genin, the Inuzuka pride of Kiba called her out. Not liking the kid, Anko sliced his cheek with a kunai, before a Kusa Kunoichi with a creepy long tongue had retrieved the kunai for the proctor, freaking everyone out, including the jonin.
Team 7 had received a heaven scroll, before the exam had begun.
Currently, the second stage has already begun for around 10 minutes. The group was running and gliding through the trees with considerable speed, before Sasuke turned to his white haired teammate.
After determining that they were far enough into the forest, their goal was to find other teams and take their scroll. All three of them then came to a sudden stop on a large branch, of the abnormally large trees. Naruto kneeled down, and placed two fingers on the branch, with closed eyes.
"Hmm... There is... two teams nearby. I don't recognize their chakra signatures, so they aren't Konoha teams." Naruto commented.
"What should we do? Split up and do both, or stay together and take down one team?" Sakura questioned.
"If we stay together, our chances of finding the earth scroll decreases." Sasuke said.
After a silence of determining their next course of action, Naruto opened his eyes.
"I agree with Sasuke. I'll go alone after one team, while you two go after the other." Naruto spoke up.
"Wait, why are you going alone?" Sakura asked.
"With my sensory ability, I can find you guys easier. I am also better at concealing my chakra, so it will be easier to take on a team alone." Naruto explained.
He got nods of understanding from his teammates. They gave each other looks of determination, before Naruto leaped off of the branch that they were on towards the one team he sensed. Sasuke and Sakura then leaped the other way, after the other team.
Currently, Naruto was running through the trees, going into the direction that he had last sensed the team from earlier. Naruto then stopped on another branch, and kneeled down, to check to see if he was still going the right direction.
His eyes snapped open, as he sensed something behind him. Shuriken were sent at his branch, which made him jump into a front flip from his branch, down into the clearing below him. While upside down, in the middle of his flip, he saw more kunai coming at him, which he quickly retaliated by sending his own kunai at the projectiles, cancelling them out. He then finished his flip into a crouch into the clearing.
'Whoever this group is, they must have a sensor as they were able to find me before I could get the jump on them.' Naruto deduced.
The sound of the ground cracking below him caught his attention. Suddenly multiple earth spikes protruded from the ground and went to impale Naruto who jumped out of the way, before using Shunshin to evade the attack.
"Tch, he dodged it." a voice said.
The white haired genin looked up and saw three Iwa shinobi, making him raise an eyebrow.
'Iwa shinobi? I thought they were on bad terms with us... Why would they send a team here? Maybe for intel... Well, it doesn't matter what the reason for their entrance in our Chunin Exams. I'm going to eliminate them.' Naruto concluded.
Deciding to avoid words, and simply attack, that's what Naruto did. He then quickly went through a couple hand signs.
"Raiton: Raishinsen!" Naruto exclaimed and released a large lightning from his hand at the three iwa genin.
In response, two of them jumped to the right, while the other jumped to the left. Their vision was decreased due to the dust and clouds that were made from the impact of the jutsu. When the dust cleared, Naruto was not in sight.
"Wha-! Where did he go!?" one of them questioned in surprise.
Not too far away from the two Iwa genin that dodged away from their teammate, Naruto was in a bush, concealing his presence and Chakra. The Namikaze quickly began to go through hands signs once more.
'Thank you for teaching me this genjutsu, sensei.' Naruto thought, thinking back to when he persuaded Kakashi to indulge him with a powerful genjutsu.
"Ninpou: Kokuangyo no jutsu." Naruto whispered, as a large unseen darkness to anyone other than the victim engulfed the two Iwa genin.
"Wha-! What is this!?" one of them yelled, confusing the single genin over on the other side of the clearing.
"Where did you go?!" the second genin in the genjutsu questioned.
"Hey! What's wrong!?" the single genin outside of the genjutsu questioned.
He received no answer as he watched the white haired Konoha genin appear with a flicker behind his two teammates, before he unsheathed his tanto from his back as he then proceeded to slit their throats, before the two even knew what happened.
The last Iwa genin looked in shock and rage.
"DAMN YOU! YOU FUCKING TREE-HUGGER!" the Iwa genin exclaimed in rage.
Naruto simply ignored him as he then proceeded to stare down the Iwa genin who glared down at him, with a simply stoic look. The Iwa genin seemed to hate the look that Naruto was giving him as he became more enraged as he ran through hands seals, putting Naruto on guard.
"Doton: Doryuuha!" he exclaimed as he slammed his foot on the ground, which then sent a massive rocky earth wave at Naruto.
The level headed Namikaze raised his tanto which began to be channeling with small amounts of lightning.
"Raiton: Ikazuchi!" Naruto said as his tanto was engulfed with a strong lightning as he swung his tanto which cut cleanly through the earth wave.
This shocked the Iwa genin, which Naruto saw.
"Doton is weak against Raiton. Did you not know?" Naruto questioned the genin, who only seemed to get enraged further.
A click of the Iwa genin's teeth was heard, as he began to use more chakra as he went through more hand seals.
"Doton: Kengan no jutsu!" he exclaimed and created a pointed rock fist spear on his arm, as he began to charge at Naruto.
Naruto narrowed his eyes at the approaching genin as he then looked down at his tanto and saw that it was still enveloped with lightning. He then began to run back at the genin as well.
"DIE!" the Iwa genin exclaimed and thrusted his earth spear arm at Naruto.
Looking at the attack, Naruto brought his lightning enveloped tanto and sliced through the jutsu with ease, cutting off the arm of the genin in the process. After doing so, going with his momentum, he thrusted his tanto through the genin's heart, killing him, before sheathing his tanto.
"You should have listened. I told you that Doton was weak against Raiton." Naruto said to the dead genin.
He then reached down into his pouch, and felt for the scroll and pulled it out, revealing an that the Iwa genin had a earth scroll. How fitting.
"How frustrating." Sakura said, as she looked at the heaven scroll in her hand before putting it away into her pouch.
Both Sasuke and Sakura had ended up running into a group of Kiri genin who stood no chance against them. They attempted to use genjutsu against an Uchiha, and Sakura who was always talented at detecting genjutsu. What a bad match up.
"Hopefully Naruto had better luck." Sasuke said.
Currently the two of then were running through the trees in Naruto's direction. The kept continuing for a while before they looked farther ahead and then saw their white haired teammate leaping through the trees towards them as well.
Naruto, sensing their chakra and now seeing them, stopped on his branch and waited for them to reach him. Suddenly his eyes went wide with shock, as he swiveled his head to the right so fast, one would think it would have spun off of his neck.
'What?! What is this chakra?!' Naruto thought in shock at the dark chakra he felt.
A small breeze touche his skin, before it suddenly cut him, making him bleed. The harsh sound of a powerful wind coming towards him alerted him. The genin quickly turned back towards his two teammates who were approaching him.
"YOU TWO, GET AWAY FROM HERE!" Naruto warned them, shocking them them of the emotion in his voice.
The two couldn't react in time, as right before their eyes, all of the trees in front of them, including Naruto, were blasted away. In the process both Sasuke and Sakura were knocked back as well, before landing harshly onto the clearing floor, below the trees.
Panting came from the both of them, as they struggled to get up. The slow sound of footsteps caught their attention as they saw their enemy.
The sound of groaning and grunting came from the Namikaze as he struggled to get up and recover from whatever blast he was hit by. He shrugged off all of the wood and bark from destroyed trees and came to his knees, before fully standing up and leaning against a tree trunk.
'What was that?' he questioned as he looked forward down the large wide destroyed path of destruction.
Determined to make sure that Sasuke and Sakura were alright, he began to walk before he fell to his knees.
"Are you alright?" a voice put Naruto on guard as he got back up, and observed the new comers.
The group of 6 people in front of him told him that two groups had teamed up. After giving them a look over he realized that they were Team 5 and Team 6 from Konoha.
Team 5 consisted of Misaki, the girl who called out to him, she had brown hair and blue eyes. Her face had a cheerful smile on it. She was wearing a blue shirt and black tight shorts. Her two male teammates were standing beside her. Aoyama's face had a light smile. One of them, Aoyama, had blonde hair and black eyes. He was wearing a white shirt and black pants. The final teammate, Touma, he had black hair and black eyes. His face was more serious than his teammates, which was a straight face. He was wearing a black shirt, and dark blue pants.
Team 6 consisted of one girl and two males, as well. The girl, Shikotsu Kurumi, she had shoulder length black hair and bright ruby red eyes. Her face was serious and mature, she had a stoic facade displayed, which looked similar to Naruto's. She was wearing a black kimono shirt, and a gray fitted skirt. The two boys were identical as they were twins. The older brother Ichiro had a more serious look, while Jiro had a more nonchalant look. Both Midori Ichiro and Jiro had green hair and yellow eyes and they were wearing brown shirts and blue pants.
The first girl who called out to him and approached him, putting him on guard, until he saw the green aura from her hands, indicating iryo ninjutsu.
"What happened?" Touma asked, as his female teammate healed the white haired genin.
Narrowing his eyes at them, before looking back down the destructive path in front of them. This went unnoticed by all of them except for Kurumi, who was observing the genin in front of her.
He then stood up ignoring the girl healing him, and began to walk off.
"H-Hey, you okay?" Jiro asked with uncertainty.
In response, Naruto turned and looked at them from the corner of his eye.
"You should leave this area. It's not safe, they're might not even be enough scrolls left for all of you to pass." Naruto told them, before he leaped off.
The group just looked at him leave them, in confusion.
"Should we really have just let him leave like that?" Aoyama asked.
"Considering he was the rookie of the year, and he seemed rather serious back there... I would suggest that we take his advice seriously." the stoic Kurumi spoke up to the others with a logical solution.
She got nods in response as they started to move in the opposite direction.
Panting was heard from the last Uchiha as he stood across from who he thought at first was a kunoichi, but in reality was a shinobi from oto. Narrowing his eyes in front of him, he got a closer look at the man.
He was average height with long black hair, and had pale white skin with yellow snake eyes. Around his eyes was purple markings, and he had a rather sick cruel smirk.
'How am I supposed to beat him? I'm already out of chakra...' Sasuke thought in worry, as he looked back to Sakura who was still frozen in fear.
Over the past couple minutes, many unlikely events occured. They were at first approached by the creepy Kusa kunoichi who had threatened their Chunin Exams proctor. The amount of killing intent that they expelled made Zabuza's feel like child's play. Even with the extra killing intent resistance training they received from Kakashi, they were no match.
Eventually Sasuke was able to break out of his stupor and save himself and Sakura before they were done in. Afterwards, they were chased down by the mysteriously strong kunoichi who summoned snake which Sasuke was able to kill, only out of fear. Eventually, after resolving himself, Sasuke reactivated his Sharingan and was determined to defeat the kunoichi.
In the battle, Sasuke used his Sharingan to percept all of the Kunoichi's attacks and retaliated with his high skill level with shuriken jutsu, and his wide arsenal of Katon ninjutsu. The Kunoichi retaliated with powerful Futon ninjutsu, and was able to dodge any Sasuke's attacks by using their high agility and flexibility, as well as a strange jutsu which allowed to control their body like a snake.
In the end, Sasuke trapped the kunoichi with wire, and set her body on fire with a Katon jutsu. Though it seemed that it was ineffective, as they simply broke out of the wires, and revealed their true face, and they were man, who revealed their name to be Orochimaru.
'How am I supposed to defeat the traitor sannin?' Sasuke questioned as he was already exhausted, and was only alive since he was playing with him.
Suddenly, Orochimaru lifted his hand into a hand seal, putting him on guard. But then he realized he couldn't move.
"T-This is... Kanashibari no jutsu?!" the Uchiha said in frustration as his body refused to budge.
"You're definitely his brother. You're eyes have more potential than his as well." Orochimaru commented, making Sasuke's eye widen.
Before he could say anything, Orochimaru's neck extended and his head was brought close to Sasuke' neck at high speed. Suddenly, the snake man opened his mouth, revealing his fangs and bit down onto Sasuke's left neck/shoulder, making him scream in pain. Orochimaru proceeded to release his teeth from the Uchiha and retracted his neck.
Sasuke continued to scream in pain as he held his left neck/shoulder in pain, before he fell to the ground, unconscious. If one were to look closer at the bite location, you would see black mark tattoo in the shape of three tomoe.
"With that... you'll definitely come in search of me, for power." Orochimaru commented.
Suddenly his senses warned him of an attack. Out of nowhere, Naruto flickered in front of Orochimaru with a stone cold icy rage filled face. He swung his tanto at Orochimaru to tilted his head back to dodge, as he himself swung a kunai at Naruto who flipped out of the way. Landed on his hand, he propelled himself backwards to get space from the snake man as he began to go through hand seals.
"Raiton: Raishinsen!" Naruto exclaimed and threw his lightning at the man.
'Oh... A B-Rank Raiton ninjutsu? He might be stronger than Sasuke...' Orochimaru thought as his body was struck by the jutsu.
Naruto narrowed his eyes at the cloud of dust and smoke that was created. When it cleared his eyes widened, as it revealed a mud pile.
'Kawarimi!?' Naruto thought in shock.
The sound of metal piercing the air caught Naruto attention. He looked behind him and saw a swarm of shuriken coming at him, not having enough time to block them he jumped in place and maneuvered his body in air to dodge them, but was still cut slightly. Twisting in air, he grabbed one of the shuriken before throwing it back at Orochimaru, and went through hand seals.
"Ninpou: Shuriken Kage Bunshin no jutsu!" he called out, multiplying the single shuriken he threw.
Narrowed eyes looked at the shuriken. 'He even knows Sarutobi-sensei's jutsu...' Orochimaru thought as he himself went through hand seals.
"Futon: Daitoppa!" he called out, created a wind which blew forward at the shuriken, deflecting them away before the wind dissipated.
Seeing a chance, Naruto flung another shuriken at Orochimaru which completely missed, and landed by his feet, confusing the man. That was until he heard the sizzling coming from it. Taking a close look he saw a small explosive tag that was wrapped around the inside of the shuriken.
An explosion shook the large branch that they were on. Jumping out of the smoke, Orochimaru looked back up just in time to see a single kunai flying at him, which made him tilt his head out the way, before he went through hand seals.
"Futon: Kazekiri no jutsu!" he called out and swung his arm, sending a wave of sharp wind at Naruto.
As the wind was about to hit Naruto, it instead connected with a single kunai, as Naruto flickered to existence behind the Sannin. Turning with wide eyes, clearly showing his surprise, Orochimaru looked at Naruto who had his tanto ready.
'He switched places with a kunai using Kawarimi no jutsu, taking advantage of his large chakra reserves... Yes, he IS stronger than Sasuke. He might be another one who would be worthy of becoming my vessel.' Orochimaru thought.
The thoughts of the Sannin were cut off, as Naruto swung his tanto at the man's neck. The blade connected, severing the head of Orochimaru from the rest of the body. What happened next, shocked the white haired genin. Snakes came out from the headless body and attached to the bottom of the flying head, before it retracted connected the head back to the body.
Still in shock, Naruto could do nothing as the extended head wrapped around Naruto's body, restricting his movement.
"I believe that you are worthy as well... Legacy of the Yondaime Hokage." Orochimaru comment, confusing Naruto.
With no time to react, Orochimaru widened his mouth, revealing his teeth as he then bit down on Naruto's right neck/shoulder, making the genin grunt and yell in pain. The sannin then released his mouth and unwrapped the genin, revealing the three tomoe mark.
A chuckle came from the sannin as he began to sink into the ground, before disappearing. With the presence of the powerful sannin, Sakura was finally able to breathe correctly, before she turned to her two unconscious teammates. She then struggled to stand, as she injured her leg during their attempted escape from the sannin the first time.
The girl then proceeded to carry her two teammates to safety under a tree until they would eventually recover, while she questioned the weird marks that the snake man had forced upon them.
Panting came from the pink haired female of Team 7 as she glared down the three oto genin. Over the past couple hours since the encounter the traitor sannin, Orochimaru, Sakura had brought both of her unconscious teammates under the safety of a tree trunk.
Only able to gain a couple hours of rest, she was confronted by the oto genin team. She had attempted to fight them off, but there were too many of them for herself to take on alone. She attempted to attack using her Doton offensive ninjutsu, but every time she went for an attack, the female of the oto team would use her bell genjutsu to make her miss her attacks.
The two males of the enemy team used wind and sound based attacks. Sakura couldn't do much against the sound, while she attempted to use her defensive Doton ninjutsu to defend against the wind. Though it was rather difficult since she didn't have enough chakra to keep using jutsu.
"Heh, it's over for you." Dosu said, getting her attention.
She looked up, and was met with the sight of Dosu's gloved arm in front of her face.
"Die." was all he said, before the sound of his jutsu activating reached her ears.
Suddenly a deep heavy killing intent filled the clearing, before Dosu's gloved arm was severed, making him scream. Before Dosu could find who cut his arm off, a hand grasped his neck and lifted him up before slamming him down to ground, cracking the ground and destroying the oto genin's throat in the process.
Sakura looked up in shock and saw her white haired genin teammate, but something was different.
Naruto's body was covered in black tattoo markings which had a dark blue and purple glow to them. The markings seemed to originate from the seal marking on his right shoulder. The biggest difference that she noticed was his eyes. While the Namikaze tended to have dull colored eyes, which tended to not show much emotion... They were icy cold with a raging storm behind them.
"Hey!" Zaku said in anger attempting to approach his fallen teammate, making Sakura look over.
Before Zaku could move any further, the Uchiha member of Team 7 flickered in front of him, and punched him in the chin, knocking him into the air. Before the oto genin could even reach the ground, he was kicked in the back but didn't move forward as Sasuke grabbed onto his arms. He continued to pull on them, making Zaku plead for him to stop.
Observing her dark haired teammate, Sakura was able to see that Sasuke had the same markings that Naruto had as well. The only differences between the two, were that Sasuke's was on the opposite shoulder, his left, and his markings had a orange and red glow to them, unlike Naruto's blueish purple.
A whimper came from Kin who couldn't move in fear. Naruto who was still looking over the close to dead Dosu, looked up at the girl with a look that made her want to run, but her body wouldn't move. Naruto got up before he flickered behind the girl, and placed his hand on her head in a death grip. Tears threatened to spill from the oto girl's eyes as Naruto glared down at her.
"Raiton... Raishinsen." Naruto said in an eerily calm voice, as a charge of lightning produced from his hand fried to girl's brain, making her scream, before she became silent, and fell to the ground, dead.
A grunt in pain came from Zaku who couldn't move in Sasuke's hold. Sasuke then proceeded to pull on his arms before a loud and sickening crunch and tear of the muscles and bones in the arms of Zaku echoed across the clearing. Sasuke then let go of the genin who dropped to the ground with a thud, before Sasuke sat down on his back, and used one hand to pin his head to the ground, and used his free hand to reach back to his tanto, which he then unsheathed before bringing it down and piercing Zaku's head, killing him.
A cough and gargle of blood came from Dosu, who was clearly choking on his own blood after the attack which destroyed his throat. This noise caught the attention of Sasuke who looked over, he was about to move before he saw Naruto walking over the oto nin first. Dosu attempted to look up as he saw the sandal of his soon to be killer. Naruto placed his foot on his head, which he proceeded to put more and more pressure on the skull of Dosu who began to release a silent scream, as his throat was crushed. Not too long later, the skull cracked and caved in, killing him.
Tears threatened to spill out of Sakura's eyes as she watched her teammates. She hated the way they were, they were to ruthless and merciless.
"P-Please... Please stop..." Sakura said while sobbing.
Hearing this Sasuke looked over, before a look of confusion came across his face as his curse mark seal receded back. Sasuke then looked down and realized what he had done, before he looked over to his white haired friend, who's curse mark began to recede as well.
After realizing what they had done, and questioning Sakura about it, she told them about the marks, and their intent to kill, shocking them. Naruto suggests to Sasuke that they shouldn't ever use the mark's power if it rids them of their better judgment, making the Uchiha agree. Afterwards, realizing that they still had the scroll needed to pass, they made their way to the tower, intent on getting rest.
Over the course of the next couple hours, their trek to the tower in the middle of the forest was rather uneventful. Thanks to the fact that they already had all of the scrolls required to pass, they didn't have to encounter any team. In the end, they arrived one day before the second stage was over.
After fully recovering, they had attempted to find their sensei, but Kakashi was nowhere to be found, so they decided to keep quiet about their encounter until they first give their report to Kakashi. The next day, it was then revealed that there were too many teams left, so they were going to have preliminaries.
The teams that had passed were, Team 6, Team 7, Team 8, Team Guy, Team 10, another Konoha Team which had Kabuto, and the final team that had passed the second exam was the suna team, which had Gaara. They were then facing the group of Jonin Senseis, the proctors, and the Hokage. They had then asked if anyone wanted to quit, and Kabuto had raised his hand to do so.
They then explained the purpose of the Chunin Exams, and then ordered everyone who wasn't the selected two to fight, to go up to the viewing railings up top, to watch the fights from there. Hayate Gekko, the proctor for the preliminaries had then announced the two first fighters.
"Uchiha Sasuke vs Yoroi Akado." Gekko announced, prompting the Uchiha and the other Konoha genin to go down to the fighting area.
The two genin had stared down each other for a while, before Sasuke saw Yoroi channel chakra into his hands.
'I'm still low on chakra, it would be best if I end the fight early.' Sasuke thought as he then proceeded to close his eyes, confusing everyone.
Yoroi saw this, and attempted to run at the Uchiha wasn't looking. He then jumped at Sasuke, intent on absorbing his chakra.
Suddenly, Sasuke's eyes snapped open, revealing his three tomoe sharingan which glared into Yoroi's eyes. Instantly upon making eye contact with the other genin, his body went slack, and he fell to the floor, unconscious.
"The winner is Uchiha Sasuke!" Hayate exclaimed, making some of the Konoha genin cheer.
Narrowed eyes came from Kakashi as he saw Sasuke was panting, before he began to fall backwards. Before he hit the ground, Kakashi flickered behind him, and caught him while looking down at the curse seal which was throbbing to be released. He looked back up at Naruto, who had realized what Kakashi was about to do, and gave him a nod.
'I have to seal this curse mark before it gets any worse. I'll have to do the same with Naruto.' Kakashi thought as he then flickered away with the Uchiha.
The electronic board began to flicker through more names before landing on two new names.
"Aburame Shino vs Midori Jiro." Hayate announced, prompting the two Konoha genin to arrive at the battle area.
They stared down each other for a while before Jiro brought a kunai. This action made Shino immediately lift up his sleeves, as thousands of bugs then began to fly out, shocking the other genin as they began to surround him.
"Hijutsu: Mushidama!" Shino called out as his bugs began to suck the other genin dry of chakra, who then fell unconscious before he could retaliate.
"The winner is Aburame Shino!" Hayate exclaimed, making Shino go back up to railings.
The electronic board once again began to flow through more names, to determine the next match.
"Sabaku no Kankuro vs Misumi Tsurugi." Hayate announced, making the called genin arrive.
This fight was rather short, as after Tsurugi attempted to use his weird body transformation jutsu to wrap Kankuro up, Kankuro was then revealed to be a puppet which the real Kankuro had switched places with. Afterwards, Kankuro used his puppet to break the bones of the other genin, ending the match.
"The winner is Sabaku no Kankuro!" Hayate exclaimed.
Once again, the electronic board worked its magic.
"Haruno Sakura vs Yamanaka Ino." Hayate announced, getting a groan from Shikamaru who said something about troublesome blondes.
Naruto looked over at his pink haired teammate, and he knew she could defeat the Yamanaka, as she hasn't been slacking on training.
The two female Konoha genin stared down each other. Ino was glaring, while Sakura was taking a page out of her teammates book and giving the other girl a simple stoic look, making the Yamanaka angry.
The two began then began the match, as Ino threw a multitude of shuriken at her friend, who jumped into the air to the right.
"Hah! With you in the air, it's easier to use my jutsu!" Ino exclaimed with a smirk, as she put her hands into a hand seal.
Sakura landed on the ground and looked up as she saw her friend with a hand seal she recognized.
"Shintenshin no jutsu!" Ino called out, not aware of Sakura going through her own hand seal.
"Doton: Doryuuheki!" the pink haired girl retaliated, creating a earth wall, which blocked Ino's mind transfer jutsu.
The results were immediate, as Ino held her head in pain, as the jutsu missed, backfiring on her. Without having enough time to recover from her failed jutsu, Sakura appeared in front of her, with her fist encased in rock, shocking her.
"Doton: Kengan no jutsu!" she called out and slammed the fist into Ino's body, sending her into the wall, unconscious.
"The winner is Haruno Sakura!" Hayate exclaimed, getting people to look at the Haruno in surprise.
The sound of the electric board flipping through more names caught their attention.
"Tenten vs Sabaku no Temari." Hayate announced, getting the called genin to come down.
This fight was rather one sided, as Tenten attempted to use her specialty with bukijutsu. Though it seemed that she ended up in a bad matchup, as whenever she used kunai, shuriken, swords, or any other weapons, Temari was able to use her fan Futon ninjutsu which repelled all of the attacks, before her wind jutsu hit the other girl, knocking her out, ending the match.
"The winner is Sabaku no Temari!" Hayate exclaimed.
The electronic board began to flicker through more names before landing on two new names.
"Nara Shikamaru vs Midori Ichiro." Hayate announced.
This fight, like the previous one, was over rather quickly. It seemed that the older Midori twin wasn't aware of the clan that the lazy boy was apart of, as he never even paid any attention to the stretching shadow of Shikamaru which connected to his. Taking advantage of the fact that Ichiro was left handed and had his tool on his left thigh, Shikamaru made himself grab a shuriken, while Ichiro grabbed nothing and proceeded to then threaten the elder twin that if he doesn't give up, he'll kill him. This made the green haired boy give up rather quickly.
"The winner is Nara Shikamaru!" Hayate exclaimed.
The electronic board once again began to flow through more names, to determine the next match.
"Namikaze Naruto vs Inuzuka Kiba." Hayate announced, making Kiba cheer, while Naruto narrowed his eyes at the dog boy.
The two of them then reached the arena and stared down each other.
"Heh, you may be the rookie of the year or whatever, but I'm still gonna kick your ass!" Kiba exclaimed with a feral grin.
In response, Naruto had a straight face, making Kiba mad. Kiba was then surprised as he saw what he thought was a small smirk.
"Well then... go on, make it happen." Naruto responded, enraging the Inuzuka.
His statement had its effect, as Kiba then went down to all fours as his dog, Akamaru jumped onto his back, and transformed into a clone of Kiba.
"Gatsuuga!" he exclaimed, as both him and Akamaru jumped into the air like a whirlwinding missile which twisted through the air before changing its course downwards, intent on taking down Naruto.
Seeing this, Naruto took out a kunai, before simply dropping it on the ground. Right when Kiba and Akamaru were about to connect with him, he flickered out of the way, making them crash to the ground, looking up at him with a glare.
Before the duo knew it, they were looking at a floating kunai which fell to the ground with a clang of metal. Naruto flickered to existence behind the duo and quickly kicked Akamaru against the wall. Not capable of reacting in time, Naruto spun around and placed his foot in front of the Inuzuka's foot and sweeped his footing, making him fall. He quickly grabbed his head and pinned it to the ground and placed his kunai above his throat, while everyone in the crowd simply watched in awe of the skill.
"Give up." was all Kiba heard from his opponent.
'Tch, he purposely infuriated me to make me attack him without a plan... Damn it!' Kiba thought in frustration.
"I-I give up..." Kiba said upset.
"The winner is Namikaze Naruto!" Hayate exclaimed.
Naruto returned to viewing area with the rest of the genin, followed not too much later by Kiba who was carrying Akamaru. The both of them, and everyone else then looked up at the board which was flipping through the names for the next match.
"Hyuuga Neji vs Hyuuga Hinata." Hayate announced.
Not too far away from where the preliminaries were taking place, both Kakashi and his dark haired student were in a dark room. Currently, Sasuke was sitting down on the ground, shirtless, with seals written out of blood marked all over his body which surrounded his curse mark.
"This'll hurt." is all Sasuke heard his sensei before his body was engulfed in pain.
"Gogyo Fuin!" Kakashi exclaimed and slammed his palm onto the curse mark, prompting the blood seals to swirl and travel up Sasuke's body, before they all eventually wrapped around the curse mark, before finally finishing, as Sasuke's body fell forward, unconscious.
A sigh came from Kakashi. 'He'll be up again in a minute...' he thought,
The thoughts of the gray haired jonin were cut short, as he felt a dark malicious chakra fill the room, making him turn around quickly as he lifted up his sharingan which glared at the shadowy figure which walked slowly into the room.
"You've certainly, haven't you Kakashi-kun. Adding fuinjutsu to your arsenal, not bad." the snake like voice of Orochimaru echoed through the room.
A glare came from Kakashi as the figure revealed themselves as the snake sannin, who was garbed in a oto jonin uniform.
"I have no business with you, and that borrowed Sharingan, Kakashi-kun. But I do with Sasuke." Orochimaru said.
"What do you want with Sasuke and Naruto?" Kakashi demanded.
"Well I of course wanted the Uchiha power of Sasuke-kun. But... Well, after seeing the power and skill that the Kyuubi Jinchuuriki had displayed, I just couldn't help myself from marking him as well." Orochimaru said while licking his lips.
There was a deafening silence which filled the room. That silence scraped against Kakashi's ears. The sound of footsteps, brought his attention back to Orochimaru who began to walk closer, in attempt to reach Sasuke.
"Don't take a step closer!" Kakashi said, as he gripped his right wrist, which began to charge up with lightning.
"Raikiri!" he called out, engulfing his hand with powerful lightning, as he glared at the sannin with his Sharingan.
"If you move one more step... I'll kill you." Kakashi said, his voice laced with killing intent, somewhat surprising the sannin.
A smile then appeared on the snake man's face, which then began to turn into a smile, confusing Kakashi.
"What's so funny?" Kakashi demanded.
"You? Killing me? That's a good joke." Orochimaru commented.
In response, a sigh came from Kakashi as he closed his eyes, as he began to build up chakra. After building up enough, his eyes snapped open, and his Sharingan which was previously displaying three tomoe, now turned into a design which was three triangles wrapping themselves around the pupil, similar to a revolving pinwheel.
The widened eyes of Orochimaru showed his surprise.
"If I was still the same person I was the last time I faced you, you would be correct. However... This time is different. I have trained myself for a moment such as this one, I will use my Mangekyou Sharingan to erase your existence!" Kakashi exclaimed.
Another chuckle came from the sannin.
"Well, I guess you're right. You would definitely stand a better chance than last time. I guess I'll just come by another time." Orochimaru said, before turning and walking away, before he eventually disappeared.
A steady glare from Kakashi was locked on the figure which was gone, before his Raikiri dissipated, and his Sharingan turned back to normal as he brought his headband back down to cover it. A grunt from the boy at his feet caught his attention.
"C-Can we go watch the rest of the matches?" the now awake Sasuke asked.
"Sure... That's fine." Kakashi responded, as they then made their way back to watch the preliminaries.
"The tenth and final match of the preliminaries will be, Shikotsu Kurumi vs Akimichi Choji." Hayate announced, prompting the girl to go down to the arena, while the chubby boy looked at his sensei.
"I don't want to fight a girl." Choji said to Asuma who looked irritated at this, before his eyes lit up.
"How about this, if you fight her and win, I'll treat you to BBQ." Asuma said, getting Choji instantly fired up as he jumped from the railing.
This got sweat drops from everyone. Sensing a new familiar presence, Naruto looked over and saw Sasuke and Kakashi approaching them. Kakashi then approached Naruto.
"Your turn." Kakashi said.
"May I be allowed to watch this final match?" Naruto asked, getting a sigh in response, letting him know his answer.
Everyone then looked back down at the final fight.
"Nikudan Sensha!" Choji exclaimed, as his body expanded and turned into a rolling boulder which targeted Kurumi.
The stoic girl narrowed her red eyes at the human boulder coming her way, before she rose her hand, palm facing the boy. Only a select few, namely the jonin, the Hokage, Naruto, Sasuke, Gaara, Shino, Neji, and Shikamaru saw what happened next. If they looked closely, Kurumi's hand began to glow orange on the palm, as steam was coming from it.
Right when Choji's jutsu was about to hit the girl, with surprising speed, Kurumi dodged to the side and then proceeded to use her glowing and steaming hand to slide it across Choji's body, which created a screeching tire sound. She then jumped out of the way of the collision the boy made into the wall. When the dust cleared it revealed Choji's body which was unconscious and he seemed to be rather pale, confusing them.
"The winner is Shikotsu Kurumi!" Hayate announced.
"Alright, now that all of the matches are now over, everyone please come down here to select lots for the finals." Hayate requested, which prompted everyone to come down to the arena.
Afterwards, the proctor and the Hokage began to explain the layout of the finals, which was to be a tournament based match. The allotted time that they were given between the preliminaries and the finals, was one month, to allow the participants to train in preparation against their opponent. They were then told to draw slips of paper which had numbers on them, before they were told to announce they're number.
"I'm six." Kurumi said.
"I'm one." Sasuke said.
"I'm three." Temari said.
"Seven." Kankuro said.
"Ten." Gaara said.
"Five." Sakura said.
"Four." Shikamaru said.
"Eight" Shino said.
"Two" Neji said.
"Nine." Naruto said.
There was silence for a while.
"Alright then, here are the matchups. The first match will be Uchiha Sasuke, vs Hyuuga Neji. The second match will be Nara Shikamaru, vs Sabaku no Temari. The third match will be Haruno Sakura, vs Shikotsu Kurumi. The fourth match will be Aburame Shino, vs Sabaku no Kankuro. And then, the fifth and final match of the finals will be, Namikaze Naruto, vs Sabaku no Gaara." Hayate announced.
After hearing the pairings, everyone began to analyze their opponent for the finals. Both Sasuke and Neji were actually excited as they would be able to prove which legendary Dojutsu is superior, the Uchiha, or the Hyuuga. Meanwhile, Gaara was giving Naruto a bloodthirsty glare, which Naruto returned with a simple stoic straight face. Afterwards, all of the members of each team returned to their Jonin sensei.
"Alright, before anything happens, I'm going to first seal up that mark on Naruto." Kakashi said to his three genin.
"What are we going to do to prepare for the finals?" Sakura questioned.
"First off, I'm extremely proud of you guys. I think I'm the only jonin from Konoha who had all three of their genin get to the finals. You three truly fill me up with pride." Kakashi commented with an eye-smile, making them look pleased with the praise.
"For what we are going to do... Well, of course. We're going to train." Kakashi said with an eye-smile.

This is by far the longest chapter I've ever written.
I hope you don't mind the match up pairings. I just always wanted to see Sasuke vs Neji in the actual show, but that never happened.
For their training, I already have something in mind, which doesn't deviate to much from canon, but there is definitely a big change. (nature training)
