By the way, I do not own naruto in any way. Masashi Kishimoto has that honor.
It's been about a day or two since the end of the preliminaries, and the reveal of the tournament styled finals for the Chunin Exams. Just like how Kakashi had suggested, Team 7 was preparing to see what kind of training that they would be receiving from their sensei, as currently the entire team was at their usual training ground meeting spot.
"So, what are we going to be training?" Sakura questioned her sensei.
"Well, before we get to that, there's something I must tell you." Kakashi responded.
They all sat in silence, waiting to here what their sensei had to say.
"With the finals being a tournament, I'm going to have to heavily individualize the training for the month. In short, I won't be able to train all of you equally, with how much time we have, without revealing any new techniques you might learn, which would be unfair for the matches." Kakashi explained.
This got nods in response, as it was logical that it would be rather unfair if some of them saw what the other was training on.
"To answer your first question. I'm going to first confirm your chakra natures, before determining your sensei who will train you." Kakashi said.
"What do you mean? What sensei?" Sasuke spoke up, asking the question the other two had.
"Determining on the results of the chakra nature test, I'm going to send you off to another sensei who would be better suited for your training than I would be. As it wouldn't be fair if I trained all three of you if you all have different chakra natures, which I'm not specialized in." Kakashi told them.
He then reached into his hip pouch, before he pulled out four slips of brown paper, confusing them.
"Paper?" Naruto commented, receiving a nod from Kakashi.
"Yes. But this isn't just any ordinary paper. This paper has been grown from a special tree, and is capable of reading one's chakra nature affinity when you infuse your chakra into it. Like this." Kakashi said, before the paper in his hand wrinkled, before it crumbled to dust.
"As you can see, I have a primary Raiton affinity, with a minor Doton affinity." Kakashi said, getting them to nod.
"However, this doesn't mean that I cannot learn jutsu from other natures, it just makes it harder to do so." he explained.
From this statement, Naruto nodded. He remembered in the academy he was testing out basic elemental ninjutsu from each element, just to determine which would be easier to use. Kakashi then handed the other three slips to the genin.
"All you have to do is simply infuse your chakra into the paper, it will do the rest on it's own. The results will differ depending on your affinity. If you have an affinity to Katon, the paper will burn. It'll get wet if it's Suiton. It'll cut if it's Futon. It'll wrinkle if it's Raiton. It'll crumble if it's Doton." Kakashi said.
Looking at their sensei, he looked back before turning to Sakura and nodding. The girl then focused on her chakra, which she pumped into the small slip of paper in her hand, which suddenly started to crumble before falling apart.
"Just as I expected. You have a strong Doton affinity." Kakashi said, making the girl smile.
He then turned to Sasuke and nodded, getting nod back. The paper in his hand the got cut in the middle before going up in flames. The widened eye of Kakashi showed his surprise.
"Katon and Futon... You have two complimentary chakra natures, as expected from the Uchiha Clan." Kakashi said, making Sasuke smirk.
Everyone then turned to the last white haired member. His paper proceeded to wrinkle, before it started to drip wet with water.
"Just as I predicted. You also have two complimentary chakra natures, with Raiton and Suiton." he said with an eye-smile.
The lanky jonin then turned to all three of his students, before turning to his female genin.
"I'm sorry, and it hurts me to do this, Sakura. However, in order to increase your skills as a kunoichi, I'm going to be sending you to meet with Team 8's jonin sensei, Yuuhi Kurenai. She will be able to teach you things as a kunoichi which I can't, as well as genjutsu and other needed essentials. Oh, and don't worry about her students, only one of them made it to the finals, and he is being trained by his clan. She told me to meet you a couple hours from now at training ground 8." Kakashi informed his pink haired student.
"It's fine, Kakashi-sensei. I'm actually excited to see training from another jonin." the girl said with a bright smile, before she walked off.
"Alright, next is Sasuke." he said, getting the Uchiha's attention.
"I'm going to be sending you to Team 10's jonin sensei, Sarutobi Asuma. However, that won't be until tomorrow as there is something that I want to show both you and Naruto. However, Asuma will be helping you with everything else, as he is also proficient with Katon and Futon. He told me that he will be at training ground 10 tomorrow waiting for you." Kakashi informed the young teen, who nodded.
"But, you said that you wanted to show me and Naruto something?" Sasuke said, getting Naruto to nod as well.
"Yeah, that's right. I am going to be teaching you two a ninjutsu of ultimate power which will be the combination of both change in chakra nature and change in chakra form. The two of you already know change in chakra nature to an extent, but you haven't been introduced to change in chakra form." Kakashi said.
In response, he got two looks of interest, showing they didn't know about it.
"Here, I'll show a perfect example of change in chakra form. This ninjutsu is a jutsu which was developed by the Yondaime Hokage, my sensei. This jutsu's name is the Rasengan." Kakashi said.
After hearing this, the two genin watched closely to get a close look at the previous Hokage's jutsu. Kakashi saw this and smirked under his mask as he then lifted his right palm upwards and gripped his wrist with his left hand. Suddenly a swirl of chakra formed above his palm and then formed into a high-speed spiralling sphere of chakra.
"What high speed chakra..." Sasuke said in shock, with Naruto looking in awe as well.
The Rasengan then dissipated, and Kakashi coughed into his hand.
"That was just an example of change in chakra form. However, what you two will be learning is that added with your chakra nature. The jutsu which your jutsu will be based on will be my Raikiri, or Chidori." he said, as he went through three hand seals and his hand was enveloped in a strong lightning.
"I created this jutsu when I attempted to add my Raiton chakra nature to the Rasengan. In the end, I failed but I ended up with this jutsu as a result. I am going to have you two learn this jutsu. However there are two requirements for this." he began
"The two of you already have one of them, though they are opposites. One of them is that you have to have high speed, and the other is a way to perceive your opponents counterattacks. Naruto, you are already fast enough to handle the jutsu, while Sasuke on the other hand isn't fast enough, he has his Sharingan which can perceive attacks." Kakashi explained, as he watched his two genin absorb the information given to them.
It was then that the Uchiha realized something.
"Isn't this jutsu a Raiton ninjutsu? I only have Katon and Futon..." the dark haired genin said.
"You're right. However, I faith that you can recreate this jutsu using Katon chakra." Kakashi said, making the Uchiha look up in shock as the taller man placed his hand on the pre-teen's head.
"I believe in you. I'm sure that the rest of the Uchiha Clan does as well." he said with an eye-smile, while Sasuke just looked down at his feet, attempting to hide the uncharacteristic small blush on his face.
"I believe that Sasuke would be able to become fast enough to handle the jutsu. However, I think it will be more difficult for Naruto to learn how to perceive his opponents attacks while using the jutsu even if he might be able to master the jutsu rather quickly." Kakashi said.
"But, we'll figure that out when we get there. For now, Naruto." getting the quiet genin to look at him.
"I'm going to teach Sasuke all of the basics and theory of the jutsu before sending him off to Asuma tomorrow. In the meantime, there is someone who wants to meet you, he told me to tell you to meet him at the training ground behind the bathhouse." Kakashi said before turning back to the Uchiha and began to start the explanations and theory of his Chidori.
The young Namikaze simply tilted his head in confusion, before turning to leave and was prepared to meet this mystery man.
Heeding his sensei's advice, Naruto left his team's training ground to Kakashi and Sasuke for the day, before he made his way in the direction of the bathhouse to see who wanted to meet him. Currently he was approaching the bathhouse and was still considering who would want to meet him, but even with all of the time he had, he couldn't come up with any logical answers.
While thinking this, he saw and heard a rather noisy commotion from the bathhouse, and it seemed that there was a rather moderate group of females who had angry looks on their faces, and were complaining about some old pervert. Deciding to pay it no mind, he continued his way past the bathhouse and made it into the forest training ground that was nearby.
Observing his surroundings, he saw that he was now in a large clearing with a shallow rocky river nearby and it was surrounded by a good amount of trees. Looking closer, Naruto saw a rather large man that was sitting on a rock.
The man was well over six foot in height, and had long white spiky hair which was put in a ponytail which reached his waist. The man's skin tone was rather tanned, and he had black eyes which were accented by blood red stripes which went from his eyes down to his chin. He was wearing a dark green kimono shirt and pants, and also had a red sleeveless haori on. He was also wearing geta sandals, making his steps rather loud.
Seeing his arrival, a slight grin appeared on the man's face as he stood up and turned to him.
"So you must be Namikaze Naruto, huh?" he said.
"Yes. Kakashi-sensei told me that you wanted to meet me..." Naruto trailed off with narrowed eyes as he thought something about the man seemed familiar.
"Well thanks for coming. I wanted to meet... I am the Toad Sage from Mount Myoboku, Jiraiya!" the man said while standing on top of a toad with weird stance which Naruto found rather strange.
"You're one of the Densetsu no Sannin! The Toad Sage Fuinjutsu master, Jiraiya-sama!" Naruto said with slightly wide eyes.
"Oh? So you're interested in fuinjutsu, huh? Well, that's for another time. For now I want you to sign this." he said, and reached behind him to his back, and grabbed his large scroll and unfurled it on the ground, revealing many names and hand prints which were made from blood.
"This is...?" Naruto questioned.
"This is the Summoning contract with the Toads, I want you to sign it." Jiraiya said, shocking the boy.
"Why me?" he asked.
"Surely, you must know of your burden. I as the only sealmaster of Konoha, it is my duty to observe and make sure nothing happens to your seal which contains the Kyuubi within you." Jiraiya explained.
'I see. So he must have been ordered by Hokage-sama to assist me. It's only natural for the Hokage to take responsibility of the Jinchuuriki of his village, so I completely understand his concerns.' Naruto thought to himself.
Narrowing his eyes, Jiraiya saw Naruto was deep in thought. 'He seems more astute and aware of his situation than others would be. He truly does remind me of Minato.' he thought with a small smirk.
Deciding to accept Jiraiya's offer, Naruto bit his finger and wrote his name right next to another which said, 'Senju Minato'.
"Oh yeah by the way, just call me Jiraiya-sensei. I don't like that formal crap." the tall man told the boy who simply nodded.
"Alright, since you have full chakra, I want you to use all of it to summon the largest summon of the toads." Jiraiya ordered his new student, while secretly worried and hoping that Naruto wouldn't summon Gamabunta.
Obeying his new sensei's words, Naruto bit his thumb and swiped the blood on his palm, before his hands flipped through the hand seals.
"Kuchiyose no jutsu!" the snow white haired boy called out as he slammed his palm on the ground, which produced a sealing formula.
A large cloud of smoke and clouds were summoned with a rather large tremor. Almost tripping over himself, Naruto looked down at his feet and realized he was standing on a magenta colored toad. Deciding to meet the new toad, he hopped off and took in it's appearance.
The toad was massive, and had magenta colored skin and yellow eyes. It was wearing a dark grey kimono shirt which was adjusted to it's size, and had a large sasumata pole like weapon which spikes on it, as well as a large shield on it's back.
A sigh came from the pervy sannin, as he saw the toad. 'Thank god it wasn't Bunta. He would've been furious.' he thought in relief.
"Jiraiya-sama, am I needed?" came the thunderous voice of the toad, before becoming aware of Naruto.
"My name is Namikaze Naruto, I am a new summoner of the toads." the boy said.
"It seems that Jiraiya-sama has gained another student once more, however, I have no objections. My name is Gamaken. If you end up summoning me, I will assist to the best of abilities, even though I am rather ungraceful." Gamaken said, before dispelling in a large poof of clouds and smoke.
Watching the ungraceful toad dispel, Naruto was rather pleased with the results. Suddenly he dropped to a knee and started to pant hard, now realizing that his body was weak and low on chakra.
"It seems that even though you have enough chakra for the summoning of the large toads, it takes quite a toll on you. If you ever have to use this jutsu, be careful and make sure you have enough chakra." he suggested, getting a nod in response.
"Anyway, that's all I wanted to show you for the month, you could return to Kakashi tomorrow. As for me, I have some research that I need to attend to. Before I have to investigate this Otogakure no sato. See you around, Naruto." he said with a grin, before using shunshin to leave.
After finally recovering from his tired state after using the summoning jutsu, he saw that it was almost night.
'I guess I'll just return to Kakashi tomorrow for his training.' the boy thought as he made his trek home.
A day later, after recovering from his chakra exhaustion after training the Summoning jutsu with Jiraiya, Naruto was making his way back to the training ground 7 to meet up with Kakashi. On the way there, he passed by both Training grounds 10 and 8 and saw both of his teammates, Sasuke and Sakura training with Asuma and Kurenai respectively.
Now approaching the his team's training ground, he arrived to see Kakashi surprisingly on time.
"Ah, you're here. That must mean you met with Jiraiya-sama." the jonin said.
"Yes. He allowed me to become a student of his and sign the toad summoning contract." Naruto responded.
"That's what I suspected he wanted. Well, that's for later. For now, let's get started." Kakashi said, getting a node from the genin.
"I'm sure that you already know that type of jutsu that Chidori and Raikiri is. It's an S-Rank Raiton Assassination ninjutsu. While usually this jutsu is only capable of being used if you have a Sharingan to counteract the tunnel vision, you have an even higher Raiton chakra nature affinity than I do. Because of this, I have a feeling you will be able to control the amount of speed that this jutsu puts on your body by adjusting the amount of Raiton chakra in the jutsu. However, this mean that you won't be able to use the stronger variation, Raikiri." Kakashi explained.
"Why can I only use Chidori and not Raikiri?" Naruto questioned.
"The Chidori is a jutsu that is more customizable and allows you to adjust the amount of chakra infused in the jutsu. However, Raikiri is stronger because it uses the highest amount of Raiton Chakra to increase your speed that your body can handle, regardless of tunnel vision, which makes it only possible with Sharingan, even if you have high reflects." Kakashi said.
"So basically, I can only use Chidori because of my high Raiton affinity and my natural high speed and reflects. However, since I don't have a Sharingan or any other method of reading counterattacks, I can't use Raikiri. Is that right?" Naruto asked.
"Yeah, you got it. For the rest of the month, I am going to increase your efficiency with Shunshin no jutsu and your speed so that you can get around Gaara's sand just like that student on Guy's team. It would be wise to also learn more Water jutsu to weigh down his sand." Kakashi said.
"That makes sense. My only real options against his sand would be a powerful attack like the Chidori, and using high speed with taijutsu or water based ninjutsu to slow down his sand. I can't use genjutsu against him since he is a Jinchuuriki who has control of his Bijuu." Naruto commented.
"So you picked up on that as well, I expected as much. Anyway... Ready to begin?" the gray haired man questioned.
After the two of them planned out their month of training, they were finally prepared to defeat Gaara in the finals. After hearing the question of his teacher, he gave the man a nod filled with determination.
- ( 1 MONTH LATER ) -
It has been over a month and it is the day before the Chunin Exam finals. Naruto had ended up finishing his training with a few days left to spare to help him rest and recuperate in preparation for his match the next day. He had heard that Sakura was excelling well under Kurenai's guidance, and that Sasuke has leaped up in skill and strength while training with Asuma, though he is apparently resting hard after exhausting himself.
Currently, the white haired genin was walking down the hidden corridor hallway inside of the hospital in order to talk to a certain friend. Arriving at the end of the hallway which revealed a sealed door, Naruto walked up and opened the door revealing the hospital room.
Sitting there as usual, was none other than the other survivor if the Uchiha Massacre, Uchiha Shisui. The man in front of him was dressed in normal hospital patient garbs, and had bandages wrapped around his left missing eye. The two distinct characteristics of the man were his single right coal colored eye and his shoulder length spiky/curly hair.
Alerted by his arrival, Shisui turned to him with a grin.
"Hey Naruto, it's been a while. How are you and Sasuke, and the whole team? Has Kakashi killed you guys yet?" the man questioned.
"I'm fine, Sasuke as well. And no, Kakashi hasn't 'killed' us yet." the genin responded, getting a chuckle from the one-eyed Uchiha.
"I see. So, did you have any particular reason for this visit?" Shisui questioned, already having a suspicion.
"Yes. I just wanted to let you know that the Chunin Exam Finals Tournament is happening tomorrow. Both my teammates and I are in it." Naruto said.
"Oh! The Chunin Exams, huh? I'm happy that your team made it all the way. So, who do you and your teammates have to fight?" Shisui asked.
"Sasuke's match is first, and he is fighting the Hyuuga prodigy who graduated last year. In the third match, Sakura is fighting another Konoha Kunoichi who graduated the same year. I think her name was Kurumi. I'm not quite sure what she does, but she has a strong ninjutsu. As for me, my match is the final fifth match in the first round, against Sabaku no Gaara." Naruto informed him.
"So Sasuke's sharingan against the Hyuuga's Byakugan, huh? And Sakura has to fight another kunoichi who has a mysterious ninjutsu. And who is this Sabaku no Gaara that you have to face?" Shisui asked.
"He's a strong Suna nin who possesses the ability to freely manipulate sand as form of offense and defense. I also suspect that he's a Jinchuuriki." Naruto said.
At this statement, Naruto saw Shisui's single eye turn serious.
"A Jinchuuriki? How do you know?" he asked.
"The first time I saw him, I could easily sense it. I think he felt the same thing towards me." Naruto answered him.
"Naruto." Shisui began seriously, catching Naruto's attention. "Be careful with him. He won't be someone that a simple genin can defeat." he told him.
"I know. Kakashi knows that as well, and he helped me prepare for the fight. Just be grateful that it wasn't Sasuke who got match up against him, I'm sure that the only one out of us who could take him down would be another Jinchuuriki, namely me." Naruto said.
There was a calming silence from Shisui who seemed to regain his nerves. Suddenly a grin appeared on his face.
"Just because you have to defeat a Jinchuuriki doesn't mean that Sasuke won't wipe the floor with you. My lil cousin ain't no pushover." Shisui said.
Naruto was slightly caught off guard at the statement as he didn't expect him to lowkey insult him.
"But..." the Uchiha began once more.
"That doesn't mean I don't have faith in my little brother either." Shisui said, shocking Naruto at what he said.
Looking at the man in front of him, he didn't expect him to call him his little brother. In the back of his mind, Naruto felt that he was replacing his childhood friend Kagami who was Shisui's real little brother. But seeing the soft look in Shisui's eye, he ignored that thought and did something that surprised even Shisui.
Looking at his little brother figure, Shisui saw Naruto do something that he thought he would never see ever again. A smile. It wasn't a big one, but it was a light small gentle smile which sat on Naruto's usually stoic face. Shisui smiled back, the two would then continue to talk to each other for a couple more hours about the exams before Naruto eventually took his leave to rest up for his match tomorrow.
It was over a month later after the end of the preliminaries which determined the combatants in the Chunin Exam Finals Tournament. Over the past couple weeks, each genin has been preparing and training and researching their opponent.
Currently, the stadium in Konohagakure no Sato was packed and filled to the brim with villagers and shinobi alike. Up in the VIP booth, there was the Hokage, Sarutobi Hiruzen. Alongside the Kazekage, Sabaku no Rasa.
Down in the arena a group of 10 genin were standing lined up next to each other facing a Konoha jonin. The genin consisted of Uchiha Sasuke, Hyuuga Neji, Sabaku no Temari, Nara Shikamaru, Haruno Sakura, Shikotsu Kurumi, Sabaku no Kankuro, Aburame Shino, Namikaze Naruto, and Sabaku no Gaara. And the jonin who accompanied them was Hayate Gekko.
"Alright, both Uchiha Sasuke and Hyuuga Neji, your match is first. Everyone else go up to the waiting platform booth." Hayate said while coughing.
Complying to the proctor's words, everyone but the Uchiha and the Hyuuga left the arena floor.
"Now then, round one, match one! Uchiha Sasuke vs Hyuuga Neji, begin!" Hayate announced as he leaped back to give the two genin space.
The two dojutsu users stared down each other before an arrogant look appeared on Neji's face.
"You should just give up now while you can. Fate has already made it clear that I will win." Neji said.
"Shut up... Less talking, more fighting." Sasuke said with a small smirk, making Neji twitch in annoyance.
They both decided to get to the battle. Instantly the both of them activated the Sharingan and Byakugan respectively.
Digging the soles of his sandals into the ground, Sasuke propelled at Neji with impressive speed. The Uchiha launched a roundhouse kick directed at the Hyuuga's head, who ducked under it. Neji in response went for a palm strike which Sasuke deflected and jumped back to gain space.
Feeling a dull pain his arm, Sasuke looked down and saw it was red. 'He must have used his Jyuken to close my tenketsu...' he thought.
Looking back up, he saw an arrogant smirk on Neji's face which triggered him. 'I guess I'll just have to resort to ninjutsu and genjutsu.' Sasuke thought.
His red eyes flashed into Neji's lavender, the latter not aware of the recently applied genjutsu. Sasuke once again charged in and dodged under another palm strike, before throwing a right rook. Though Neji who was under the effects of the genjutsu prepared to block a left hook, and in result took a hard blow to the side of his face, making him glare.
'I see. He must have been using genjutsu...' the Hyuuga thought as he narrowed his eyes, and the genjutsu came undone.
Seeing this, Sasuke clicked his teeth in annoyance. 'It seems that his Byakugan gives him better resistance to genjutsu.' he realized.
His thoughts were then interrupted as he saw his opponent raise his palm facing him, before he sensed a build up in chakra.
"Hakke Kuushou!" Neji called out, releasing a powerful chakra wave through the air.
Seeing this, Sasuke was quick to react and swiftly jumped into the air to dodge the attack before he saw Neji preparing to launch another one.
'Damn it! He's taking advantage of the fact that I'm in the air!' Sasuke thought as began to run through his own hand seals.
"Hakke Kuushou!" the Hyuuga called out, releasing another wave of chakra at Sasuke who just finished his hand seals.
"Futon: Reppushou!" the Uchiha called out, releasing a gale of wind from his own palm, colliding with Neji's chakra wave, cancelling them out.
Landing on the ground, and glaring into the Hyuuga's Byakugan, Sasuke was grateful that he learned a couple Futon ninjutsu from Asuma. Judging from the uneven look from Neji, Sasuke knew that he didn't expect him to know anything besides Katon ninjutsu.
Grinning, Sasuke began to channel large amounts of chakra through his body to prepare to attack with more speed than before. But he was still going to be on guard, as Neji with his Byakugan could already see his chakra's movement.
Putting his hands into a new hand seal, Sasuke prepared a new jutsu, which Neji and everyone else watched closely.
"Kage Bunshin no jutsu!" he called out, creating four perfect clones of himself, shocking everyone of the use of a high ranking forbidden jutsu.
Looking closely, Sasuke saw Neji narrow his eyes at him and his clones, clearly showing that he couldn't distinguish to difference.
'The best way to combat the Byakugan and it's Jyuken is to use Kage Bunshin. Thanks, Asuma-sensei.' Sasuke thought to himself.
"Simply increasing the amount of a person who will lose changes nothing." Neji retorted.
Ignoring the mental jab, Sasuke and his clones propelled forward. They began to surround Neji and one at a time attack him, and proceeded to dodge his Jyuken counterattacks, knowing that one hit would make the clones dispel.
Getting annoyed at the peppering attacks of the Uchiha and his clones, Neji quickly ducked under another attack before twirling around and sweeping the leg of another, and attempted to deliver a palm strike, but they used their hands to spring themselves out of the way. Observing, he saw all five of them attack him from different angles, and he quickly shifted his stance.
"Hakkeshou Rokujuuyonshou!" he called out and proceeded to deliver 64 precision lightning fast palm strikes into the tenketsu of two out of the five Sasukes, as the two that he hit dispelled in a poof of smoke. Two of the last three jumped back to make space, while the final third was unlucky as Neji appeared in front of him.
"You're done for." Neji said as he went for a palm strike on the third Sasuke who smirked, confusing him, until he saw him use the ram hand sign.
"Bunshin Daibakuha!" he called out, and suddenly exploded, knocking Neji back.
Coughing as he got back up, Neji looked through the smoke and saw Sasuke and his clone going through hand seals.
"Katon: Goukakyuu no jutsu!" both Sasuke and his clone exclaimed and each of the fireballs conjoined into one massive fireball, shocking Neji.
Noticing the massive size of the fireball, Neji knew he couldn't dodge in time. There was only one jutsu that could defend against it.
"Hakkeshou Kaiten!" Neji exclaimed, as his body spun and twirled around at high speeds which generated a spiral of chakra around him.
Upon the collision of the fireball against the spiralling sphere of chakra, there was large explosion. Eventually the cloud and dust cleared, revealing a slightly dirtied Neji who seemed otherwise completely unharmed.
'It seems that I won't be able to get past that chakra barrier unless I use 'that' jutsu...' Sasuke thought.
Flipping through more hand signs, Sasuke was determined to create an opening for his new jutsu.
"Futon: Kazekiri no jutsu!" he called out and released blades of wind through the air.
Neji easily saw through this dodged, but was met dead on by Sasuke's last clone who began to engage in a one on one taijutsu fight.
Watching this Sasuke was pleased that his clone was doing its job. Quickly getting to work, Sasuke kneeled down and went through a couple hand signs and ended with the Tora seal. He gripped his left wrist with his right hand, and glared back up at Neji who was just about to dispel his final clone.
After getting fed up from fighting the clone, Neji parried an attack and went for the final blow, before the clone suddenly exploded in his face once again, catching him off guard. When the smoke cleared, his eyes widened as his Byakugan observed the large amount of chakra in Sasuke's left hand.
After building up enough chakra, Sasuke's entire left hand, and arm was engulfed in a bright red and orange flame, and on the backside of his palm, it looked as if the fire was trailing behind it like a rocket.
'W-What is that?!' the Hyuuga thought in confusion.
While not understanding the jutsu, one thing he knew for sure was that he didn't want to get hit by that jutsu. Before he knew it, Sasuke moved from his location towards Neji at speeds unseen to his eye, shocking him at the sudden increase in speed. To retaliate, Neji quickly began to spin into his jutsu.
"Hakkeshou Kaiten!" he desperately called out in an attempt to defend the oncoming destructive flame of Sasuke.
"Katon: Kaizuki!" Sasuke exclaimed and thrusted his rocket like flame engulfed arm into the Hyuuga's chakra defense.
The result was almost instant, as the flame began to melt through the defense like butter, shocking Neji. Before they knew it, a massive explosion shook the arena, as the both jutsu collided, creating a smokescreen. Everyone in the stands and crowd began to watch in anticipation to see who won.
Eventually, when the dust cleared, it revealed a pantning Sasuke who's left arm was slightly burnt. As well as Neji who was standing with a shaking body with blood dripping from his mouth and his eyes were shadowed from his long hair. Said Hyuuga grit his teeth as he began to take a step.
'Tch, even after that he can still fight?!' Sasuke thought in irritation.
Suddenly, Neji fell forward, shocking everyone as he fell unconscious.
"The winner is Uchiha Sasuke!" Hayate announced, prompting the loud cheers and applause from the crowd.
A sigh came from Sasuke as he began to walk back to the waiting area where the other genin participants were watching. He eventually arrived and all of the other genin were looking at him with analytical eyes.
"I see that you mastered the fire variation of Chidori." Naruto said, catching the Uchiha's attention.
"You may be right..." he began, before looking down at his slightly burnt left arm. "However, I didn't finish it until two days ago. And it still isn't completely mastered, as my arm gets burnt each time." Sasuke said, getting a nod from Naruto.
Everyone began to look back down to the arena and the proctor in anticipation for the next match.
Slight coughing came from the proctor before he made his announcement to the audience.
"The second match of the finals will begin. Nara Shikamaru vs Sabaku no Temari!" Hayate announced.
In response to this, both participants arrived to the arena floor, prepared to fight one another.
Hayate didn't even end up officially starting the match, as Temari had charged Shikamaru, who had been laying on the ground, getting booed at. Shikamaru used the trees in the arena which were near the edge of the arena as cover against Temari's futon fan jutsu attacks.
Shikamaru used his shadows and waiting for the sun to lower so he could extend his shadows further almost catching Temari. Shikamaru thought ahead even further and used a kunai and his jacket like a parachute to create more shadows, eventually placing her in a spot where he could catch her. Though in the end, Shikamaru gave up, saying he was out of chakra.
It truly was a spectacle that the Nara Clan's heir acted and looked like he didn't even want to be there or fight at all. But in the end he toyed with his opponent before running out of chakra and gave up, knowing that if he continued, it would be too much of a drag.
The proctor looked at Shikamaru with a funny look, before he smirked and chuckled.
"The winner is Sabaku no Temari!" Hayate announced.
The crowd had a mix of reactions, as while they did enp up enjoying the fight, they didn't like how it ended and how Shikamaru gave up. Temari seemed to be insulted and embarrassed of winning in such a way. Meanwhile, Shikamaru looked like he couldn't give two shits about anything.
A sigh came from Hayate as the crowd finally settled down, as he then prepared to announce the next match.
"The third match of the final will now begin. Haruno Sakura vs Shikotsu Kurumi!" Hayate announced, getting some cheering from the crowd.
Hearing this, both Sakura and Kurumi arrived at the arena floor and stared down each other.
"Begin!" Hayate exclaimed and leaped back to give the two kunoichi space.
With the match starting, Sakura jumped back a bit to get more space. Now feeling more comfortable, she then decided to observe and take in the appearance of her fellow Konoha kunoichi genin.
Her opponent was a girl who was about four foot nine in height, relatively short and petite. She had shoulder length dark black hair which framed her face, and complimented her bright ruby red eyes. Her skin was fair, and she had a stoic facade on her pretty face which could rival Naruto's. She was wearing a black kimono shirt which was tied with a red obi, and she was wearing a dark gray fitted skirt and her ankles and shins were wrapped in tape.
After finding out that Kurumi was her opponent, she kept trying to think back to the fight she had against Choji. But everytime she thought back to that fight to remember what jutsu she used, she couldn't figure out what it was. Kurumi had stopped Choji with a single touch.
Cutting Sakura from her thoughts, Kurumi hands went through seal, preparing a jutsu.
"Katon: Goukakyuu no jutsu!" she called out and released a fireball from her mouth.
Seeing this, Sakura quickly jumped over it, into the air before she saw Kurumi going through hands seal again.
"Futon: Shinkuha!" Kurumi exclaimed and released a wave of sharp wind at Sakura who quickly went through her own hand seals.
"Doton: Doryuuheki!" she announced, and erected a barrier from the earth, blocking the jutsu.
'Really!? Two changes in chakra nature?!' Sakura thought in surprise.
Realizing that she was panting, Sakura realized that using ninjutsu against someone like Kurumi who seemed to be a ninjutsu specialist was a bad idea.
'I guess I'll have to start using genjutsu...' she thought.
Reaching into her pouch, Sakura withdrew a smoke bomb, which caught Kurumi's eye. Dropping it to the ground, the area around was covered in smoke.
"Genjutsu: Shinkiro." Sakura whispered to herself, as her body faded into invisible.
"Don't you realize that it's futile?" Kurumi questioned as she went through hand seals.
"Futon: Daitoppa!" she called out and released a gust of wind which pushed against the smoke, and cleared it away, revealing the area.
Surprising everyone, Sakura was nowhere in sight.
Twisting her head around her surroundings, attempting to find her opponent, Kurumi narrowed her eyes. Suddenly, hearing a step and turned and still saw nothing. But that step had allowed to figure out what was going on.
'I see. Genjutsu, huh?' Kurumi thought.
"If that's the case..." she said out loud.
Unknown to everyone, Sakura who was invisible was about to swing her kunai at Kurumi, before a wave of chakra came from her opponent.
"Shakuton: Joki Shuha!" Kurumi called out and released a chakra wave of hot steam from her body, which knocked back Sakura who became visible.
"W-What was that?!" the pink haired girl questioned.
"I posses two chakra nature. Both Katon and Futon, which allows me the ability to mold them together to create scorch release." Kurumi responded.
Attempting to get up, Sakura tried to get ready before her opponent took advantage of her low chakra. Suddenly, Kurumi speed blitzed her with surprising speed as her body was covered in steam and she hit her in the abdomen with a palm strike, instantly, Sakura's skin turned rather pale.
Losing all air in her lungs, Sakura collapsed to the ground with a sudden strong feeling of fatigue and thirst.
"Using my limited ability and knowledge of my Shakuton kekkei genkai, I am capable of evaporating the moisture in your body. Though not enough to kill you or anything. I can also put the opposite effect on my body and speed up the flow of my blood to increase my bodies speed and strength." Kurumi elaborated.
"Forgive me, Sakura-san. However, this match is over." Kurumi told her opponent.
Not having the ability to answer, Sakura simply looked over at the proctor with a nod.
"The winner is Shikotsu Kurumi." Hayate announced, getting cheers from the crowd.
Both Naruto and Sasuke were impressed with the kunoichi who defeated their teammate. Not only was she able to calmly analyze her opponent, she was able to quickly decipher her next movements, and respond accordingly with the right move of her own.
Not only that, but both of them were surprised at the appearance of the scorch release from the small girl. No one expected a girl from Konoha to possess such a kekkei genkai.
'She's impressive. Probably the best kunoichi from our graduating class. Not only that, but she also has a different mindset than the rest of the other upcoming genin kunoichi, besides maybe Sakura who has been changing recently.' Naruto observed.
Sharingan eyes narrowed at the girl who was coming back to the waiting area for the participants. 'She has Katon and Futon chakra nature affinities like me... However, she is, much more advanced than I am. As well as the fact that she was hiding a kekkei genkai like that.' Sasuke thought.
The sound of coughing caught their attention as the proctor began once again.
"The fourth match of the first round will begin. Aburame Shino and Sabaku no Kankuro, please come down." Hayate requested.
Hearing this, Shino was about to make his trek down to the arena, before he heard his opponent clear his throat.
"Proctor, I'm forfeiting." he said, surprising and confusing everyone.
"I see... Well then, due to a forfeit, Aburame Shino automatically wins." Hayate said.
Turning back up to the suna genin, "If you were going to lose, at least don't embarrass your village." he said, making Kankuro grit his teeth.
'Bastard. I would, but I have to conserve my chakra for the invasion.' the face painted genin thought.
"Now then, moving on to the fifth and final match of the first round. May Namikaze Naruto and Sabaku no Gaara please come down." Hayate announced.
There was some small cheering but not much as they still view Naruto in a wary light.
In response to the proctor, both Jinchuuriki arrive at the arena and began to glare into each others eyes. Pupiless teal peering into silvery dull purple.
"Now that you're ready... Begin!" Hayate announced.
Instantly Naruto flickered backwards to gain distance to make sure to not be in range of Gaara's sand. Meanwhile, Gaara made no movements and kept his hands folded and simply stared, confident if his absolute defense.
Deciding to attack first, Naruto's body tensed and coiled up, catching Gaara attention. Suddenly without warning, Naruto's body flickered at insane speeds out of existence, surprising the redhead. The sound of sand being hit from behind him, caught Gaara's attention. Before once again in front of him the sand was hit but there was no one to be seen.
'What's with this guy?! He's just like that Rock Lee taijutsu user!' Gaara thought in shock of his white haired opponent's speed.
Not able to keep up with Naruto's newfound speed, Naruto appeared inside of Gaara's sand guard. Without time to react, Naruto unleashed a palm strike to the redhead's chin, knocking him back. Not wanting to lose, Gaara flipped mid air and sent a wave of sharp sand at Naruto who quickly dodged.
After recovering from the previous hit, Gaara saw Naruto tensing and speeding off at him. Quickly he sent another sand attack, which Naruto evaded and spun around, and went for an attack from behind. Seeing this, Gaara quickly protruded multiple sand spears from his back, forcing Naruto to cancel his attack and flip over Gaara.
Not wanting to be outdone, Naruto quickly began to dodge high speed sand which began to chase him around the arena. Once he realized that Gaara was maneuvering him in a way with the sand that kept him away from his real body, he began to go through hand seals.
"Suiton: Mizurappa!" he called out, and released a torrent of water which collided against the sand, weighing it down, decreasing its speed.
This caught Gaaa by surprise as he tried to continue to grasp Naruto with his sand, but realized it was now much too slow to keep up with Naruto. Taking advantage of this, Naruto sped past the sand and unsheathed his tanto as he ran at Gaara. Quickly using his chakra, he covered his blade with a small amount of lightning.
Using his now lightning covered blade, he went for a slash, which was blocked by Gaara who had quickly raised a small wall of sand. Not wanting to give Naruto another chance, Gaara had more sharp sand tendrils protrude from the wall and thrust at Naruto who quickly flickered backwards to avoid being skewered.
Panting as using the Shunshin consecutively was taxing, Naruto saw Gaara place a palm on the ground, putting him on guard. Suddenly the earthy ground began to tremble before the ground beneath him, cracked, surprising him as he quickly jumped back in time to evade a massive sand spike which broke up underneath the ground. It was later joined by a multitude of other spikes which Naruto used his quick speed to dodge.
After successfully escaping the attacks of Gaara, he quickly sped his way over to the redhead with his tanto at the ready. Preparing what looked like another powerful slash, Gaara quickly created another wall of sand. Right before slashing the wall, Naruto skidded to a abrupt stop, before flickering out of existence and reappearing behind Gaara.
Wide eyes took this action into account as Naruto swung his tanto at him. Quickly, Gaara used a chunk of chakra to then create an entire thick rocky sand sphere. Naruto's tanto slash connected with the sphere but barely made a dent, before he quickly launched himself backwards as multiple spikes of sand shot out at him, though he evaded them before kneeling down near the arena wall.
'My tanto can't penetrate that wall. Neither can any of my jutsu besides 'that' one.' the white haired teen analyzed the sand sphere.
Quickly, his hands began to flip through hand seals, before his right palm faced downwards, as his left hand gripped his right wrist.
"Raiton: Chidori!" he exclaimed, as a loud sound of chirping birds accompanied a strong lightning which enveloped his right hand.
Glaring back up at the sand sphere, he propelled from his place near the wall, directly in front of the sphere in an instant, leaving behind a trail of blue lightning. Using the powerful jutsu, he slammed his lightning enveloped hand straight through the sphere like butter, with the end result of having his arm up to his elbow inside of the sphere.
Experiencing the feeling of warm liquid, Naruto knew that he had succeeded in injuring the other jinchuuriki.
"T-This is... MY BLOOD!" a blood curdling scream yelled out across the arena, shocking everyone, including Naruto.
Suddenly, his right arm began to feel pain as it felt as if something was gripping hard enough to hurt the bone.
Gritting his teeth, Naruto quickly reactivate his Chidori which made Gaara scream more, as he was now able to successfully extract his arm from the sphere and jumped back to make some space. At the same time a massive monster looking arm of sand followed lazily, confusing him.
Looking back up into the open hole of the sphere, Naruto narrowed his eyes as he saw what looked like sand moving around inside. Suddenly his eyes met with a yellow eye with a star shaped pupil which was filled with bloodlust, making his body shake.
'T-That is... the Ichibi's eye...' Naruto assumed as the monster arm retracting back into the sphere.
The sand rocky sphere then cracked and fell apart, revealing a normal, but injured Gaara who was panting.
Feeling a weird tingling feeling, Naruto looked over at the stands of the stadium and saw tons of small feathers falling. Taking a closer look, he saw that all of the citizens and some of the genin began to fall asleep, showing that there was a genjutsu.
Suddenly, an extremely powerful explosion ringed across the arena, and the ground shook. Attempting to find the origin, he saw that the explosion occurred up at the stands were the Hokage and Kazekage were seated.
Looking around fully, he began to see that there were multiple battles in place, with both Oto and Suna shinobi engaging fights against Konoha shinobi. This confirmed that they were betrayed by Suna, and that Oto was invading alongside them.
Seeing pillars of smoke and explosions back near the outer walls of the village, he saw multiple Oto Snake Summons that were rampaging in the village, destroying everything in their path. Next he saw a three-headed snake making its way towards the stadium, warning him. Unsure of what to do, Naruto began to ponder if he should summon Gamaken, before he heard a loud voice echo across the battlefield.
"Kuchiyose: Yatai Kuzushi no jutsu!" Jiraiya exclaimed, and a teal colored massive toad fell on top of the snake.
Looking closer, Naruto saw the perverted sannin standing on top of the toad, before he looked from the far distance at the area where the Hokage and Kazekage were. Before Naruto could attempt to reach him and question him, Jiraiya leaped from the toad and reached the top of the building where the Hokage and Kazekage were, before the three of them were enclosed by a purple barrier.
'What the hell is going on?' Naruto questioned himself.
Three new presences were noticed in front of him, as they appeared next to Gaara. They were his two teammates and their jonin sensei. Tensing his body, Naruto prepared to fight if needed, as he was going to defend Konoha against their enemies.
A footstep and chakra signature made an appearance. Turning, he saw it was Hayate, the proctor, who now had a Katana strapped to his back.
"Naruto. You are already Chunin level. So as a Konoha shinobi, be of service and make sure they don't help the Ichibi Jinchuuriki unleash his power. I'll take on their jonin sensei. This is your new mission as of now." Hayate ordered the young teen.
"Of course, Hayate-san." he responded.
Temari and Kankuro grabbed Gaara and leaped off past the arena walls and into the forest. Seeing this, Naruto quickly leaped after them.
"You think I'd allow that!?" Baki said and swiped at Naruto with a kunai, who paid him no mind.
Right before the kunai connected, it was blocked by a Katana, held by Hayate.
"I won't let you pass." the swordsman replied, as they then began their fight.
Currently on top of one of the towers surrounding the arena stadium, was a large purple barrier which contained three legendary shinobi. One of which was the current Hokage of Konoha, Sarutobi Hiruzen. The other standing next to him, was one of his students, Jiraiya the Gallant. The final shinobi in the barrier, facing off against the other two was another student of Hiruzen's, Orochimaru.
"What do you think you're doing Jiraiya? Getting in my way..." Orochimaru questioned, as even Hiruzen was surprised by his other students arrival.
"During the month break before the finals, I did some investigating. I got into contact with some of my trusted source informers and they informed me that Sunagakure no Sato formed an alliance with Otogakure no Sato. At that point I already knew that you were the one orchestrating everything. So I waited for you to make your move, and now, I won't let you have your way. This time, you're going to die." Jiraiya said with a stone cold glare.
Watching the interaction of his two students, it brought sadness to Hiruzen's heart. His two students were attempting to kill each other. But he was sure that Jiraiya felt this way since he regret that he didn't kill Orochimaru the first time he fled from Konoha.
"You? Kill me? That's funny. I was originally only here to kill Sarutobi-sensei. But, since you're here, I guess I'll get to kill two birds with one stone." Orochimaru said with a cruel smirk on his face.
Finally resolving himself during this, Hiruzen glared back up at his traitor student.
"We won't allow you to destroy Konoha, Orochimaru." he said with determination.
"That might be so, but it's not just me that you have to worry about." the snake said, confusing them.
Watching closely, Orochimaru began to go through a couple hand signs before clapping his hands.
"Kuchiyose: Edo Tensei no jutsu!" he exclaimed, shocking the other two.
The ground began to shake, and three coffins rose out from the tiled roof. Each one had the numbers "1", "2", and "4" labeled on them. As the first two emerged from the roof, the final one began to struggle, before falling back down into the ground.
"Hmm, it seems that the Shinigami prevents me from summoning Minato. Well, not that it matters." Orochimaru commented.
The other student and teacher duo watched cautiously, and grateful the final one failed.
'I see. Since Minato-kun used Shiki Fujin which gave his soul to the Shinigami, it prevents Orochimaru from using Edo Tensei on him.' the Hokage concluded.
"Now then, It's time for you two to face..." Orochimaru began, putting them on guard.
The two coffins lids opened up and dropped. Revealing two figures.
The first one was a tall man who wore heavy red plated armor from the warring states era. He had long straight brown hair and black eyes. This man was the Shodaime Hokage, the Kami no Shinobi.
The second man was just as tall as the first, and he wore blue plated armor, similar to the first. He had short spiky and unruly white hair which was held out of his eyes from a metal plate which framed his face. He had ruby red eyes and three red stripes on his face. This man was the Nidaime Hokage.
"You two will now face the first two legendary Hokage!" Orochimaru exclaimed.
"Those two, huh?" Jiraiya said.
"Hashirama-sama. Tobirama-sensei." Hiruzen said in shock.
Almost as if expecting the two Hokage to respond to him, Hiruzen saw the two look up with empty dead looks in their eyes which now sported black sclera. They both began to slowly walk forward at them.
Looking over, Hiruzen saw his student clap his hands together.
"I usually don't like using this form, but it seems that it cannot be helped considering who we are about to fight." Jiraiya said.
This got a nod from Hiruzen, "Yeah."
Flipping through his own hand seals, Hiruzen bit his thumb and slammed his palm on the ground.
"Kuchiyose no jutsu!" he exclaimed, and summoned a tall monkey, clad in armor.
"Henge!" he called out, and Enma transformed into a black staff with gold edges, which Hiruzen caught and prepared to fight.
Orochimaru grinned with glee, as Hiruzen prepared to fight off the two Hokage to give his other student time to get into Sennin Mode.
A sandaled foot planted itself on a tree branch, before it propelled off and leaped into the trees. Naruto was currently chasing after the Suna genin trio by following their chakra signatures. He also had recently realized that he was being following by the Aburame. Not too far behind him was also Sasuke, Sakura, and Shikamaru who he assumed were assigned to assist himself.
Realizing that he was gaining on the Suna trio, Naruto quickly increased his speed before seeing on a branch in front of him. He came to a stop on a branch before them, getting their attention.
"This is as far as you go." Naruto told them, making them glare back.
In response, Temari jumped forward with her fan readied.
"I won't allow you to pass!" she said.
"Temari, what are you doing?!" Kankuro questioned.
"Just keep going with Gaara, I'll hold him back as long as I can!" Temari responded.
Kankuro look conflicted, but decided to follow his sister's orders, and grabbed Gaara and leaped away.
"You'll have to take me down if you want to get to Gaara!" the girl told him.
"Very well..." was all Naruto responded.
Instantly, Temari unfolded her fan all the way to the third star, and swung it at him.
"Futon: Kamaitachi no jutsu!" she exclaimed a strong sharp field of wind at Naruto.
Seeing this, Naruto quickly pulled out a kunai and threw it through the powerful wind, which then landed behind Temari. Eventually, the sharp wind reached Naruto's location and exploded.
When the dust cleared, Temari expected to see the white haired genin, but instead just saw a kunai on the branch in front of her. Suddenly, Naruto flickered into existence behind the girl and knocked her out, making her fall unconscious on the branch.
Afterwards, he turned back towards the direction Gaara was taken and kneeled down and placed two fingers on the ground.
'It seems that the other suna genin didn't take Gaara too far.' he thought before he leaped off from the branch he was on with impressive speed.
He continued his way through the trees and knew that he was about to catch up to them pretty easily as he was faster than them, and Gaara himself couldn't move which meant that Kankuro had to carry him.
Speeding through the trees at blurring speeds, Naruto eventually saw them and made his presence known and landed behind the two of them. Hearing this, Kankuro turned in surprise that Naruto had already taken out his sister and caught up with them.
"Damn it!" he cursed as he put down his little brother, and grasped his puppet from his back, prepared to fight.
Seeing this, Naruto prepared to engage in another fight before suddenly Temari appeared once again next to Kankuro.
'I should have killed her when I had the chance. I didn't think that she would have been able to regain consciousness that quick.' Naruto thought.
"Temari! Are you okay!?" Kankuro questioned in concern.
"Nevermind me, just take Gaara and go!" she told him.
"No! You go! You can barely stand, I'll hold him back this time." Kankuro retorted.
She looked like she wanted to argue, but she conceded and grabbed Gaara and leaped away once again.
'It's one after the other...' Naruto thought in slight annoyance.
After confirming that his sister and brother got away, Kankuro turned to his new opponent.
"You're my opponent!" he told Naruto, who narrowed his eyes at him.
"No!" a voice was heard behind Naruto, getting their attention.
A figure landed on the same branch as Naruto's. They both observed the newcomer, and saw it was Shino.
"You're opponent... is me." Shino said, with his hands in his pockets.
"Shino..." was all Naruto said.
"Naruto, you go. Kankuro was originally my opponent in the exams, let me take care of him." Shino requested.
Understanding his reasons, Naruto nodded before he leaped off after Gaara. Meanwhile Kankuro gritted his teeth in frustration as he then began to battle the Aburame bug user with his own puppets.
Two figures were rushing through the trees. Well it was truly one figure rushing while holding up the other.
The two landed on a branch. Temari attempted to pick up her brother who was grunting and holding his head.
"C'mon Gaara. We must stick to the plan!" she said in worry.
All she heard was groaning from him as he wobbled to his feet. Then the sound of sandals planting on a branch behind them, caught their attention. They turned and saw Naruto once again.
"You damn persistent bastard!" Temari insulted the white haired teen who ignored her.
Attempting to protect her brother, Temari stood in front of Gaara. Seeing this, Gaara grit his teeth as he raised his fist.
"Outta my way!" he yelled and slammed his fist against her form, making her collide with the tree trunk, unconscious.
Naruto simply watched this with stoic eyes as he saw Gaara glare at him with a fierce hatred.
"I'm not exactly sure what the Suna and Oto shinobi are planning with this invasion. However, I know that you are a key and important piece of their plan. So I will take care of you... And ascertain your true identity." Naruto told the other jinchuuriki.
"You who are strong... You who are called Namikaze... You who have friends... You who have a purpose... You who are like...me! By killing you... I will exist in this world as the one who destroyed all of that... I can truly experience "life."" Gaara exclaimed with bloodlust.
Hearing this, Naruto simply narrowed his eyes at him.
"You... have the same eyes as I do. Eyes that seek power, brimming with hate and murderous intent, which you attempt to hide. You're like me. Don't forget...You're my...You're...my..." Gaara began to say before falling to his knees as his body began to transform with sand solidifying around his body.
Seeing this transformation, Naruto was then reminded of the time he channeled the Kyuubi's chakra during his fight against Rigo so long ago.
"You're...my...my prey!" Gaara exclaimed as the right side of his body became encased in hardened sand.
"Very well, let's finish this." Naruto responded.
At impressive speeds, Gaara charged and jumped at Naruto and swung his demon like right arm at him. In response, Naruto quickly went through hand seals.
"Raiton: Chidori!" his arm was enveloped in lightning and he charged at higher speeds than Gaara and sliced through Gaara's arm, making the demon arm fall off.
"Agh!" Gaara screamed in pain.
Naruto landed as his jutsu dissipated from his arm before he fell to one knee and grit his teeth, 'Damn...I only have enough chakra for maybe one more Chidori...maybe not even that... Because If I go past my limit, it might release my curse mark. Or even worse, it might rid me of the chakra that I use to suppress the Kyuubi's chakra.' Naruto thought.
"AARRGGHH!" Gaara yelled and Naruto looked over.
He saw more demon sand covering his body and transforming him even further. Gaara then ran at him and proceeded to attack Naruto who continued to avoid and dodge his attacks. Naruto flickered back to get some space, and went through hand seals.
"Suiton: Mizurappa!" he called out and soaked Gaara's sand covered body in water, weighing him down, making him slower.
'Now!' he thought, as he saw the effect of his water jutsu.
Naruto quickly went through hand seals for another Chidori, and then enveloped his hand in lightning once more. Naruto then charged at Gaara at top speed to finish him off before he had the chance to recover.
Gaara looked up and saw him coming and quickly amassed more sand on his chest to defend himself. Naruto thrusted his jutsu into Gaara's chest, but realized it didn't make it through his defense. Naruto's eyes widened in surprise.
'He summoned more sand to prevent my jutsu from fully penetrating!' he thought.
Gaara grinned, "GOT YOU!" he screamed.
Naruto looked up and realized his arm was stuck inside the sand and couldn't move. Gaara then used his free arm which transformed into a sand spear spike which he swiped at Naruto. Naruto's eyes widened as he jumped backwards and broke out of Gaara's hold, but it was too late as the spear struck deep into his ribs.
Naruto collapsed to his knees and coughed a little bit of blood up.
"HAHAHA!" Gaara laughed.
Naruto looked up at Gaara who began to heal. The jinchuuriki then began to channel on more of his bijuu's power as his transformation began to spread to the other side of his body as well.
'He's powering up even more. I don't have enough chakra to continue using Chidori... It seems that I have no choice but to use the curse mark, since I can't rely on the Kyuubi's chakra.' Naruto thought to himself.
Taking in a deep breath before slowly breathing out, Naruto closed his eyes. He felt within his chakra and then tugged on the dark and malicious chakra which originated from his right shoulder.
Once more the swirly black curse tattoo began to grow and spread from his shoulder and began to cover his body. This newfound chakra began to heal Naruto's wound, and his chakra began to replenish. But Naruto also knew that it damaged his body if he used this power for too long.
Hearing an enraged scream, Naruto looked up and saw Gaara charging at him. Quickly, Naruto dropped a kunai at his feet, before his arm was suddenly engulfed with lightning once more as he sped forward.
Looking at his oncoming prey, Gaara swung his demonic sand arm, which Naruto flipped over. He then landed on the branch, and turned and saw Gaara reach the branch he was previously occupying, and saw his kunai was in position. Once Gaara was in position, Naruto switched places with the kunai and appeared behind Gaara and swiped his chidori at him, knocking him far back as he yelled in pain.
Looking down at his palm, he saw his chidori fizzle away. Suddenly a sharp pain jolted throughout his body and he fell to a knee and gripped his shoulder.
'I didn't think that there would be this much pain...' he thought as he saw Gaara slowly get back up.
The redhead panted as his sand reformed over his body and healed his injured body as he glared down Naruto with a crazed look in his eyes.
"This is it! Namikaze!" Gaara exclaimed as he then propelled at impressive speeds at his prey.
Seeing this, Naruto quickly tried to get up and move, before his body froze in pain.
'The curse mark was too much of a strain, I can't move now...' Naruto thought in frustration.
"DIE!" Gaara declared with glee as he swung his arm at the immobile Naruto.
"Katon: Kaizuki!" a voice was heard across the forest as a powerful fire hit Gaara and sent him back through the trees in pain.
Looking up, Naruto saw Sasuke standing next to him.
"Took you long enough. Where's Sakura and Shikamaru? I sensed them earlier." Naruto questioned.
"Shikamaru stayed behind to stall some pursuers, Sakura went with him to make sure he didn't laze around and give up." Sasuke told him.
Hearing his response, Naruto simply nodded before turning back to Gaara, who got up.
"You as well!? Fine then! I'll finish you both in one fell swoop!" he exclaimed as he put his hands in the hitsuji seal.
Naruto narrowed his eyes, as Sasuke's body tensed.
"Tanuki Neiri no jutsu." he said, before suddenly an impossibly tall wall of sand emerged and towered over the forest, shocking them.
When the dust finally cleared, it revealed a massive tanuki like monster made of sand and blue tattoo markings, and a massive single tail.
"W-What is that!?" Sasuke said in shock.
"That... That must be the Ichibi, Shukaku." Naruto told him, surprising the Uchiha.
"HAHAHA! I'm finally free!" a screachy loud thunderous high pitch voice came from the tailed beast.
"How are we supposed to stop that?" Sasuke questioned.
Attempting to answer his friend's question, Naruto narrowed his eyes at the top of the head of the beast. He looked closer and then saw Gaara up there who was asleep, giving him the needed answer.
"It seems we most likely need to wake up Gaara, who is on top of the head." Naruto told him.
"Okay, but how would be able to do that while that beast is in control?" Sasuke asked.
"I'll take care of that. However, I can't wake up Gaara with the way my body is right now. So you will wake him up." Naruto said.
"All right. So, what's your plan to deal with the beast?" Sasuke questioned his teammate.
In response, Naruto bit his thumb and began to go through hand seals.
"You should probably get close to me and hang on to something..." Naruto told Sasuke, confusing him, but he complied and stood close to Naruto and placed his hand onto his shoulder.
"Kuchiyose no jutsu!" Naruto exclaimed and slammed his palm on the ground, then a large poof of smoke and clouds covered the forest.
The ground shook as another massive figure emerged from the clouds. It was a large maroon skinned toad who had a scar over it's left eye and was wearing a blue haori which was accustomed to its size, and it also had a massive katana as well.
"Huh? So are you the new summoner that Gamaken told me about?" Gamabunta questioned.
Looking down, Naruto realized that he didn't summon the previous toad.
"Yes. I already became acquainted with Gamaken-san. However, there is no time for formalities and greetings. I am in need of your assistance, Gamabunta-san." Naruto told the large toad.
Hearing this, Bunta looked forward and saw the large tailed beast in front of him.
"Oh? A bijuu, huh? The Ichibi, Shukaku." Bunta commented, as he readied his sword.
Turning to his teammate, Naruto saw that Sasuke had quickly adjusted to the new situation.
"Sasuke. I need you to cooperate with Gamabunta-san and use Katon ninjutsu." Naruto told him, getting a nod from Sasuke began who readied his chakra.
Their footing shook a bit as Bunta used his large sword to slice a large projectile of sand that was launched from Shukaku. The tailed beast then planted both arms into the ground and then released a massive tsunami of sand at them.
Seeing this, both Bunta and Sasuke readied their jutsu.
"Gamayudan!" Bunta exclaimed, and released a large projectile of oil.
"Katon: Karyuu Endan!" Sasuke exclaimed, as he released a strong dragon made of fire, which was further enhanced by the oil.
After the two jutsu synced together, it then proceeded to collide with the large tsunami of sand, instantly turning the sand into glass which began to crack and fall apart. Confirming their successful attack, Bunta lifted Sasuke up with one hand, and took advantage of the red stained falling glass which blocked Shukaku's vision and launched Sasuke at the tailed beast.
After being thrown through the air, Sasuke aimed himself at the unconscious form of Gaara on the head of the beast. Once he got close, multiple sand spears aimed at him. Using his Sharingan he dodged them and flipped in air and used an axe kick on Gaara's head, waking him up, and breaking him out of the hold of the beast, down to the forest.
"NOOO! I JUST WOKE UP!" Shukaku exclaimed in anger as his body fell apart into nothing.
From on top of Bunta's head, Naruto saw Gaara's free falling body. He looked down at the toad he was on before jumping off onto a nearby tree.
"Gamabunta-san, you can return now." Naruto said, as he then headed down into the forest.
Watching the young teen leave, Bunta smirked.
'Summoning me like that to casually fight a bijuu. He truly is like Minato.' Bunta thought, as he dispelled.
Descending through the trees, Naruto arrived on a branch and saw Gaara collapsed on the ground with an empty look on his face. The branch he was standing on shook a little as Sasuke landed beside him. They then proceeded to watch both Kankuro and Temari arrive and take their brother and flee.
A sigh came from Sasuke, as he turned to Naruto who began to fall, before he was caught by his teammate.
"Thanks..." Naruto responded, as Sasuke put his arm over his shoulder before then began to leap through the trees.
"No need. You fought him by yourself for a while, at least let me help by doing this." Sasuke said.
"If you didn't arrive when you did, I wouldn't have won. And you did deliver the final blow." Naruto told him.
A smirk appeared on Sasuke's face, while Naruto's straight face still remained. They then continued their way back to the village.
A harsh pant came from Orochimaru as he glared at his old teammate and teacher. He looked over the battlefield which was created on top of the roof that was encased inside by the purple barrier.
He saw that both of the Hokage that he had reanimated fell apart into dust, after Jiraiya had placed sealing tags to release their souls from his jutsu. Orochimaru wasn't stupid, he knew that Jiraiya could have done such a thing, but he made sure to give the Hokage enough power to at least be able to outspeed his old teammate and teacher.
But in the end, he underestimated his old friend's strength and jutsu. Jiraiya had summoned the two great toad elder sages, and entered sennin mode. Because of this, Jiraiya was capable of keeping up with both of the Kage and was able to stop them.
He didn't want to admit it, but he lost. Orochimaru failed in destroying Konoha, and failed to kill Hiruzen as well.
"Do you still want to continue, Orochimaru?" Hiruzen questioned, with his staff at the ready.
"I'll let you two win this battle! However, this is the start of war!" Orochimaru declared, before turning to his subordinates.
"Tch! Sakon! Tayuya! Kidomaru! Jirobo! Retreat!" Orochimaru ordered.
The purple barrier then fell, as Orochimaru then fled with his four subordinates.
Watching them leave, Jiraiya dispelled his two summons, and exited sennin mode and turned to his sensei, who dispelled his staff.
"It seems it's over." Jiraiya said.
"Yes. But not without cost." Hiruzen responded to his student.
The two of them then proceeded to look out over the village which was slightly damaged. They saw that the Konoha forces had won most of the battles and skirmishes, but they still received losses. Currently the Suna shinobi had already begun to retreat half way through the invasion after realizing that they had been tricked by Orochimaru. Meanwhile the Oto forces fought until Orochimaru ordered retreat.
Even though Hiruzen was confident that they did some damage to Orochimaru's forces, he knew that Orochimaru still had more shinobi that he has available. That was the benefit of being a nukenin like Orochimaru, he can acquire any amount of other nukenin for his forces.
"This is the declaration of war between Konoha and Oto. We must make preparations for the upcoming conflict." Hiruzen said.
Hearing this, Jiraiya nodded as he walked away.

This chapter took way too long to write. Sorry, I was sick and I've been busy with school since the end of year is right around the corner.
A lot of stuff happened this chapter, and I hope I wrote it the way I wanted it to come out.
I changed some things that will have a impact on the story from here on out.
For one, Orochimaru didn't have his arms sealed. Two, Hiruzen didn't die. Three, the declaration of war between Konoha and Oto.
The next couple chapters will be having some major changes as well, and will be ultimately the real start of "new" story, and not just following canon.
The next chapter will be covering Itachi, Tsunade, Naruto and Jiraiya mission.
The Chapter after that will cover my version of what would be Sasuke retrieval arc.
