It was evening. Roman Torchwick was in a van along with some white fang goons. He was in the back with them while 2 white fang grunts drove the van unmasked. Roman puffed his cigar in annoyance.

Recently he got a distress signal from Emerald Sustrai. Roman doesn't know why but he does know where from. And since he does know where his boss Cinder told him to go find them because if anything happened to them would be bad for her evil plans.

'Why do I have to go check up with her brats? Can't she or the white fang couldn't? Plus why the distress signal? I am pretty sure they can handle huntsman. They are trained to handle some to a degree' Roman thought.

"We're here," said the driver as the van was slowing down. Roman along with the goons were not wearing their usual attire. They need to be stealthy and make sure that the public doesn't know of this. "Let's see what the problem is" Roman said as the van stopped. The Driver got out first and opened the back doors to the van as Roman and others exited.

"Tukson's Book Trade, huh? So they went to deal with Tukson? If so why couldn't they come back?" A White Fang goon asked knowing Tukson. "Whatever let's go inside," Roman said as they went inside.

When Roman went inside along with others behind him Roman couldn't see things in the dark while the others could because they were faunus. "Hey, you animals can see in the dark right? Well, find the light switch." Roman ordered as they did what he ordered them to do with anger and frustration seeing that they had to follow orders from a human.

"The lights are broken." One of them said as Roman sighed. "Look I'll wait outside while you animals look for them," Roman said as he went to the door and then outside.

After a few minutes, a White Fang goon opened the door and exited the ruined store. "Did you mutts find anything?" Roman asked as the "mutt" looked at him with anger. "Well one of them is dead and the other is in critical condition." The White Fang goon answered with no pity for them.

"One of them is dead?!" Roman asked surprised. Sure Roman hated her brats and would do anything to get rid of them but these brats are no pushovers that can be killed like that. He cannot imagine the fury on Cinder's face once she hears about this. 'Who was this Tukson?' Roman thought with caution.

"Yes, the one with silver hair is dead and the one with green hair is not dead. What do we do?" The White Fang goon asked. 'I could leave them to die but Cinder could be more furious and maybe I could convince her that it wasn't me but… I highly doubt that Cinder will believe me and if she does she will kill me anyway saying I was too late…It seems that I have no choice but to save Emerald and maybe Cinder could kill that bastard and not me' Roman thought. "Bring both of them into the van," Roman said as the Goon went inside.

After a few minutes, the white fang goons exits with Emerald on a stretcher and put her into the back of the van. "Is Tukson's corpse here as well?" Roman asked curiously. "No." The White Fang goon answered bluntly. 'Who is this Tukson really is? He can kill Mercury and bring Emerald to a critical condition? Maybe it wasn't Tukson, Maybe he had a friend do this' Roman thought.

Then 2 minutes later a couple of White Fang goons exit with a body bag which Roman could only assume Mercury was inside. "Do you know how he died?" Roman asked The White Fang goon. "I don't know. All I know is that he was under a bookshelf crushed. Maybe he was crushed by it?" The White Fang goon suggested. But to Roman, it seemed too unreal. 'Crushed by a bookshelf? That brat was a trained assassin! Maybe he wasn't but no that can't be the case since Cinder recruited him.' Roman thought. "Well then let's leave," Roman said as they got into the van and left the area.

After a while, they reached their base where Cinder was. "I want you to bring Emerald to the best doctor you have to heal her and Bring Mercury's corpse with me," Roman said with fear. He was worried about the reaction Cinder would be giving. In a few moments, they had already reached the room Cinder wan in.

Roman opened the door to see Cinder with a book. 'Is she reading a fairy tale?' Roman wondered as he along with The White Fang goon that Roman calls "Mutt" and a couple more walked inside with Mercury's corpse in the body bag.

Cinder noticed them walking in with a body bag and wondered who was in it, 'Probably someone important.' Cinder thought. "Cinder I have some bad news," Roman said. "What did you do?" Cinder asked with her smile wondering what could have gone bad. "It wasn't me that messed up, sweetheart," Roman said as he pointed at the body bag as Cinder could only assume the one who messed up was inside it.

Cinder got close to the body bag slowly opened it. As she opened it she saw Mercury's crushed corpse. Cinder was furious. "Roman, What happened!?" Cinder asked furiously since she needed Mercury to pose as a Haven student along with her. "I don't know! We went to the distress signal I got and I found him dead and the other critically injured!" Roman answered.

Cinder was so furious that the smirk that she always had on her face is gone. "What do you mean? WHERE WAS THE DISTRESS SIGNAL!?" Cinder demanded furiously. "At Tukson's Book Trade. I can only assume that's where it went down and he died." Roman said with fear. "TUKSON!? YOU MEAN THE SAME WHITE FANG DEFECT TUKSON?!" Cinder asked furiously. "Yes that Tukson," Roman confirmed. "How!? As far as I know, Tukson was just someone who knew we were here and he's weak so how?" Cinder asked still furious.

"I…I…I don't know! I wasn't there when it went down and if I was there I wouldn't have been here right now." Roman answered honestly. "Well, do you know the cause of his death?" Cinder asked after calming down a bit. 'I cannot break my façade, people need to fear me and I can't let people see that I am having a mental breakdown (breakdown) due to just one person's death.' Cinder thought. "Well according to this mutt he died because he got crushed by a bookshelf," Roman said pointing at the White Fang goon.

"You're telling me that a trained assassin like him dies by a bookshelf?" Cinder said looking at the White Fang goon. "Yes, there were no deep cut marks from a knife and no bullet wounds. We can speculate that he got crushed by a bookshelf." The White Fang goon said pointing at the damaged areas of Mercury's corpse. "But somehow his finger is crushed too." The White Fang goon said as they found that surprising.

"His finger?" Cinder asked. "Yes, it seems that his index finger on his right hand is crushed." The White Fang goon said. "We were also able to find his two shotgun shells, presumably from his leg." The White Fang goon said. "Do you know where the rounds hit?" Cinder asked. "One of them hit the ceiling and the other hit his friend." The White Fang goon said. "Wait you're telling me that he shot Emerald?" Cinder asked. "Her body's wounds say that." The White Fang goon said as they were surprised.

"Something is wrong, maybe someone used his legs to shoot her?" Cinder asked suspiciously. "Unlikely, his legs are still attached to him." The White Fang goon said. "What about Emerald?" Cinder asked. "She is alive and being treated by the doctors we have." The White Fang goon said. "Well, you all are free to go except roman." Cinder said as the White Fang goon along with others except Roman left the area. Cinder picks up her scroll and dials Adam.

You didn't tell me everything about Tukson.-Cinder

What do you mean? I told you that he needs to go. He's weak.-Adam

Mercury got killed and Emerald got critically injured trying to deal with Tukson.-Cinder

What? Are you sure that it was Tukson or someone else at his shop?-Adam

All we found were Mercury's corpse and one of his rounds in Emerald and the shop was in ruins inside.-Cinder

How did he die?-Adam

Crushed by a bookshelf-Cinder

Maybe Tukson was prepared?-Adam

Unlikely-Cinder

Well I'll see what I can do and do show off the paladins according to the plan-Adam

Speaking of the plan Mercury and Emerald were part of it!-Cinder

Cinder puts the phone down. "This is going to be tough," Roman said. "Notify me when Emerald wakes up." Cinder ordered as she sat down and continued reading the book as Roman left.

Cinder was turning the pages of the book as a few of the pages were getting burn marks from her. 'Whoever you are I'll chase you till I watch you suffer!' Cinder thought as she suddenly felt pain and looked at her hand to see what that was and she was surprised. To see her ring in her hand squeeze her finger. It was annoying so Cinder tried to remove it but she couldn't because it was suddenly tighter. So she burned it off and went back to reading.

Unknown to her Wonder of U was standing behind her menacingly.
