Before Mount Glenn Collapsed…
Connor is a detective. Right now he has been sent to an area where an explosion happened according to the locals. Atlassian reconnaissance drones have confirmed that there was an explosion with a warehouse being burnt down. Atlassian personnel have been sent to secure the area. And Connor has been sent to investigate it.
Right now Connor is inside a Bullhead that is landing. The Bullhead landed and Conner exited the Bullhead. "Alright detective, we've been sent here to secure the area while you have been sent to investigate and find out the cause. If you want anything I'll be here helping my men secure the area." The lieutenant said who exited the Bullhead along with the detective. 'You didn't have to debrief me again.' Connor thought as he walked around.
'This place was used as an airfield during the Great War until all the vehicles here were moved to another location. The warehouses in this airfield were used to store dust and other stuff until it wasn't. I exactly don't know why but I do know that 4 years ago this place was completely abandoned.' Connor thought. "I'll start at the warehouse where the explosion occurred," Connor informed the lieutenant as he walked to the warehouse.
The warehouse was being sprayed in water by the fire services currently. 'It's going to take at least 5-10 minutes for the fire to be put out. While that happens I'll investigate the corpses nearby.' Connor thought.
Connor walked to the first corpse and put on his gloves. 'Let's see what you have' Connor thought as he examined the corpse that was laying down on its belly. The first thing he noticed was the uniform. 'This uniform…' Connor thought as he glanced at the other corpses. 'It seems that they have the same uniform and therefore part of the same faction.' Connor thought.
Connor rolled the corpse up so he could see his face. He examined it. 'By the looks, it seems that this man? Or boy is a Faunus and…' Connor thought as he tried to remember where this uniform was from. 'And that he is a member of the White Fang, how unfortunate.' Connor thought.
Connor looked at his chest to see an object which looks like a valve has shattered through his ribs. 'This valve… it shattered his ribs and his shattered ribs did fatal damage to his lungs. That must've been how he died.' Connor thought as he concluded his investigation on the first victim.
Connor brings out his notebook. 'Approx Age: 163 cm (5.34 Feet) Cause of death: Valve shattering his ribs. Member of the White Fang.' Connor wrote. 'Since his friends have the same uniform they were also part of White Fang. This might have been their hideout. Maybe this is where the recently stolen dust is.' Connor thought.
Connor decides to investigate the second corpse/victim. He was 2 meters/6 foot further from the first corpse/victim. "Let's see what's wrong with you," Connor said as he examined the corpse. 'The right hand of the body is gone like if a grenade exploded in his hand.' Connor thought as he continued investigating.
Connor looked around and saw pieces of metal around the corpse. Connor picked up a cylinder. 'This cylinder is like the ones on revolvers. Could a revolver have exploded in his hand?' Connor wondered as he examined the cylinder. 'It seems like it used to have fire dust bullets inside it. But how did it explode?' Connor wondered. Connor saw smoking fire dust cartridge shells nearby. 'All of those exploded in his hand but why? Unless a piece of something were to block the barrel.' Connor thought.
'The corpse is bathing in its own puddle of blood. Meaning after the gun exploded in his hand he bled out.' Connor thought as he brought his notebook out. 'Approx Age: 23-24. Height. 170 cm (5.57 Feet). Cause of death: Blood loss due to gun explosion. Member of the White Fang.' Connor wrote down in his notebook about the 2nd corpse/victim.
Connor looked around and saw 3 more corpses near the door of the warehouse that was blown up. He moved close to investigate. 'One of them is crushed by the door, the other one is missing a head and the last one is? I don't know guess I'll find out.' Connor thought as he examined the corpse that was crushed by the door.
"Let's see where you got crushed by this heavy door. Simple as that. Except I can't figure out your height." Connor said as he examined the corpse. Connor looked at the corpse's hand and saw that it was black and smoking. 'He got electrocuted probably.' Connor thought as he looked at the corpse's face. "Eh, nothing too surprising seeing that his face represents one of agony," Connor said.
Connor brought out his notebook. 'Approx Age: 23. Height: unknown. Cause of death: Crushed by Bulkhead door.' Connor wrote down in his notebook about the 3rd victim/corpse. "Um, Hello sir," Someone said. 'That voice sounds familiar… Wait please don't tell me…' Connor thought as he turned around and saw Sun and Neptune smiling.
"What are you two doing here!?" Connor asked agitated. "Lo-Look sir we saw you entering a bullhead along with other authorities and…" Neptune tried to explain with fear. "AND?!" Connor asked furiously. "Well since we're junior detectives it's our job to help you." Neptune finished with hesitation and fear.
"How did you get here?" Connor asked frustrated. "Well we showed our licenses to one of the guys in the bullhead and they let us through," Sun said. "And we also let them know that we're huntsman in training" Neptune finished.
"I don't care if you are Huntsman-in-trashcan but what I want is you two to be smart and I don't see any of you acting smart." Connor insulted as Sun and Neptune were hurt by the insult but they were not going to give up. "You can count on us, sir!" Neptune said with pride. "Then go inside that hanger and investigate," Connor ordered.
"Um, sir uh we don't know the situation here," Sun informed. "Look this warehouse that probably belonged to the White Fang blew up and we're trying to find out why and what they were up to," Connor explained as Sun and Neptune were processing the information. "Sir yes sir!" Sun and Neptune saluted and left for the hanger. "Detectives don't salute to other detectives," Connor muttered as he started investigating the remaining corpses.
'I'll continue with the man without a head.' Connor thought as he examined the corpse. 'Hmm, this is a woman's corpse.' Connor thought as he examined the chest. He looked near the missing head to see a lot of brain matter on the floor. 'Question is how did she lose her head?' Conner wondered as he looked around.
He spotted a valve like the ones on a bulkhead door that is used on ships. 'That valve looks similar. Could that be the valve from the same bulkhead door the 3rd victim was crushed by?' Connor thought as he looked back at the 3rd victim. Connor noticed that one of the valves is missing. 'How does this happen? That's like getting obliterated by a doorknob from the inside. This is a reoccurring pattern.' Connor thought with surprise and shock.
"Fucking hell…" Connor groaned as he brought his notebook out. 'Approx Age: unknown. Height: 153 cm (5 feet). Cause of death: Head exploding due to bulkhead doors valve.' Connor wrote it down. Connor walked to the last corpse.
"What happened to you? Got a heart attack?" Connor joked as he started examining the corpse. 'I don't see any signs of injury like the others.' Connor thought as he examined. Connor noticed something in his hand. It was a scroll. 'A scroll? Maybe he was calling for help… But how did he die? He didn't die because of a heart attack did he?' Connor wondered with shock.
Connor examined and figured out that he died because his head got bashed into the ground when the warehouse exploded. "Guess that's how you died. At least it's not a heart attack." Connor stated as he brought his notebook out. 'Approx Age: 19-21. Height. 156 cm (5.1 feet) Cause of death: Hemorrhagic Shock' Connor wrote it down in his notebook finishing the investigation on the 5th victim/corpse.
"How's the investigation going?" The lieutenant asked. "Horribly," Connor answered as the lieutenant was surprised. "What really?" The lieutenant asked. "You see all of these corpses have a pattern despite having different causes for their deaths," Connor informed the lieutenant.
"What do you mean?" The lieutenant asked. "Look all of them looked like they died because of accidents. But I think that's not the case." Connor explained. "Okay?" The lieutenant asked. "It's because of this door," Connor said pointing at the door that crushed the 3rd victim/corpse. "This person along with her were very close," Connor explained pointing at the 3rd and the 4th victim/corpse.
"Meaning there was something going on at this door before this warehouse blew up. I need to investigate inside." Connor informed. "Well, that's not going to happen today since there are fire dust, lightning dust and ice dust laying around exposed so you might have to wait till tomorrow for us to clean the place up." The lieutenant informed.
"Well anyway, there was a commotion at the door. Maybe someone got locked up, maybe the door got jammed while someone was inside or maybe someone lured them inside and locked the door and blew the warehouse up." Connor explained his thoughts. "But who could've done the last one?" The lieutenant asked with concern that the atlas may have a new enemy.
"Someone really terrifying to make all of their deaths look like accidents and not murder," Connor explained as he walked by the corpses and accidentally trips and falls down. The lieutenant laughs at Connor's misery. Unknown to them Wonder of U were just behind them in its real form.
Connor got up. "What if it's not murder?" The lieutenant suggested. "No, there are too many coincidences for it not to be. Because that guy…" Connor said pointing to the 2nd victim/corpse. "And that girl should've been alive." Connor finished.
"Well, how did they die?" The lieutenant asked out of curiosity. "One of them got their revolver exploded and the other one's head got obliterated by the valve from the door that crushed this man," Connor explained. "Well, I see your point. I'll inform the General about this." The lieutenant said.
"SIR!" Sun and Neptune yelled saluting as Connor and the Lieutenant turned around to see the two. "Who are these two?" The lieutenant asked. "These are half useless huntsman-in-trashcan, junior detectives of mine," Connor explained in a tone of an announcer as the lieutenant chuckled. Sun and Neptune really felt bad hearing the "Huntsman-in-trashcan" part but they continued.
"So what is it?" Connor asked. "We've noticed a suspicious stench from the hanger we were investigating," Sun informed. "And it's coming from the centre of like many dust crates in there," Neptune informed. "Are you trying to tell me that many of the dust crates there have this suspicious stench or this suspicious stench is coming from the centre of the pile of dust crates?" Conner asked annoyed. "Um…The latter!" Sun informed as the lieutenant chuckled.
"I'll have some men and robots moving those crates." The lieutenant said as he left. "Anyway, sir… could you not call us… Huntsman-in-trashcan please?" Neptune asked. "Fine," Connor said as Sun and Neptune sighed in relief. "Look let's go they're already moving the dust crates," Connor informed as he and Sun and Neptune walked into the hanger. It was already dawn.
They saw robots carrying the crates out swiftly and efficiently. "At this rate, we'll know what's giving out that stench," Sun said with enthusiasm. Connor got closer to the pile of crates that were in the process of being disassembled.
"While that happens what else did you find out?" Connor asked. "Well found this diary," Sun said bringing out a diary. "And it has a romantic love story. I feel jealous of this guy, whoever wrote this." Neptune said. "You're probably jealous of a dead person. Romance is dead." Connor coldly stated as Neptune was shocked.
The crates were disassembled and placed in a different place except for the crate where the stench is coming from. Connor looked around and saw a crowbar nearby and picked it up. Connor grabbed the diary and put the crowbar in Sun's hand. "Forget romance and unlock the crate," Connor ordered as Sun was frightened of what was inside.
Sun got near the crate as Neptune got near Sun. Sun pried the crate open while his eyes were closed. Neptune looked inside and was shocked. Sun looked inside and was just as shocked as Neptune. They both wanted to vomit but they knew they couldn't do it in front of their senior. So they held up with whatever courage they had left.
"Is everything okay?" Connor asked looking at Sun and Neptune. Sun nodded while Neptune shook his head. Connor sighed and looked inside. Connor was shocked but not as Sun and Neptune. Inside there was a charred corpse.
"So this is what happened to romance?" Conner joked as Sun and Neptune couldn't believe him. "Why do you hate romance so much?" Neptune asked wanting to know. "Why do you care? You have a girlfriend?" Connor asked. "Of course I do and she's The Weiss Schnee," Neptune said hoping to surprise Connor. "Never heard of her," Connor said as Neptune was surprised.
"She's the heiress of the Schnee Dust Company!" Neptune said. "Well? Do you have what it takes to be in a relationship with her till the end?" Connor asked as he smirked. "No… I don't" Neptune said sorrowly. "Romance is dead. Now let's see why. Any suggestions Sun?" Connor asked as joked.
"Well maybe this guy had done something that the rest couldn't know about and whoever did this to him couldn't get the body away?" Sun guessed as Connor was impressed. "I am impressed Sun," Connor said as Sun felt prideful from the compliment.
"The thing is what the cause behind his death is?" Connor wondered with Sun and Neptune. "By the looks of it, he got burned," Sun said. "Yeah that's why." Neptune agreed. "I meant why did he have to die and who could've killed him?" Connor wondered and corrected them.
"The White Fang maybe? They do hate traitors after all." Sun suggested. "No, it can't be them. This is their base. Why hide the body under the pile of crates when you can just properly dispose of it?" Connor suggested as Neptune and Sun agreed. "Maybe he knew something going wrong in the white fang and he wanted to inform the officials but he was disposed of before that happened?" Sun suggested as Connor agreed.
"I don't know but I think you're close. After all what could be "Wrong" within a terrorist organization. And they wouldn't hide their fellow faunus if they're this committed." Connor stated to which Sun and Neptune agreed. "I think someone that's not part of these terrorists but they are "allied" with them did this," Connor suggested.
"Like Roman Torchwick?!" Sun asked remembering Roman working with the White Fang. "I highly doubt he alone could've pulled this off but then again we don't know who he is working for," Connor said as Sun and Neptune thought about it. "He is working with someone?" Sun asked unaware of that.
"They've been robbing dust like they're on a time limit. They've robbing dust like it's a mission given to them. They've robbing dust like a grand prize was promised to them!" Connor exclaimed as Sun and Neptune thought about it. "I guess that makes sense…" Neptune agreed.
"Hey, Connor!" The lieutenant said as he walked in. "So what's the stench?" The lieutenant asked curiously. "Well, it's from a charred corpse who potentially knew about some upcoming betrayal," Connor informed the lieutenant. "Well we investigated the other hanger and we pretty much concluded that's where their equipment was. I saw pieces of tech scattered around and bullet rounds rolling on the floor." The lieutenant informed. "Many thanks. That means less work for me." Connor thanked as he walked out of the hanger with Sun and Neptune.
Connor saw the cabin (The one where Emerald was being treated) and the door was opened. Connor saw a soldier standing nearby and decided to ask him about him. "Hey soldier, was that door opened before?" Connor asked. "Yes sir! The door was opened before. None of us went inside yet." The soldier informed as Connor walked close to the cabin.
"This place has a similar stench as that charred person," Neptune said. "Not entirely," Connor stated as looked at the floor. Most of the floor is bloody. "Even the bloody doorknob is bloody," Connor said as he looked at the doorknob. "It looks like a dentist's office," Sun said. "A bloody dentist's office," Connor said as he walked around the cabin.
"So this must be a doctor's office or the surgery room." Neptune guessed. "Probably. I mean there are a lot of scalpels and scissors around here." Sun said looking at the tools. "And the blood is probably from the patients," Connor said as he looked around. Connor spotted a trashcan and decided to see what was in it. 'Pieces of wood with blood? Someone was impaled by these pieces of wood. And by the lack of a corpse, I can assume the person is alive.' Connor thought as he examined the pieces of the wood.
"I think we're done," Connor said as Sun and Neptune sighed in relief. They walked out of the Cabin and on to the entrance to the airfield. "Look tire tracks..." Connor said as they inspected the tire tracks. "These kinds of tires are for off roads and it's unusually...deep," Connor said. "So the truck was overloaded?" Neptune asked. "Finally you say something noteworthy. But anyway it's a possibility." Connor said as they continued investigating.
"Connor!" The lieutenant called out as they looked at him. "You look distressed, has something happened?" Connor asked. "Well, you remember Mount Glenn?" Lieutenant asked as Connor nodded. "The inside was hollow with train tracks right?" The lieutenant asked as Connor nodded.
"Well, Roman Torchwick used the train on those tracks at full speed and breached through Vale with a stolen Paladin!" The lieutenant said as Sun and Neptune became worried since their friends are there. "We have to go there!" Sun demanded as Neptune nodded. "Calm down boy." The lieutenant ordered as they calmed down.
"And the most surprising thing is… Roman Surrendered." The lieutenant informed as they were shocked. "What?" Connor, Sun and Neptune asked at the same time.
Well guys that's it for this chapter. I know it's different. sorry for any writing mistakes.
