Now entering Safe Mode...
Freddy blinked his eyes as they adjusted to the bright lights, waking up. He was confused to see that he was back in his room.
"Showtime already? I am experiencing a malfunction. The recharge cycle is not complete." He murmured to himself out loud.
The last thing he remembered was he was on stage with Chica, Monty, and Roxy, performing their band opening song. They were surprised and in awe seeing what Ayla had done to the stage. Sections of it, were able to lift them up to be able to hover over the crowd, the multicolored lights followed them everywhere in sync to the beats of the music. They were surprised that she did all of this in one day, when normally it would take a few or even weeks to reconfigure everything.
Just as Freddy was about to sing his solo, he noticed that there was something strange happening with his system. His eyes moved on their own searching through the crowd until they locked on the target. A child? The more he tried to remember what happened as he scanned through his files, nothing came up. It was wiped clean.
"Shh! Will you shut up?" He heard a small voice call out.
Freddy's eyes widen as he looked around the room. "Who said that?!" But, there was no one there.
"I did! I'm down here!" Freddy heard the voice talking to him again.
"Down where?" He asked, looking around once more. "I still do not see you." Was his system malfunctioning again? No, he can sense that there was someone in the room with him.
"Okay listen, you were sleeping so I opened the stomach hatch and climbed inside."
"My stomach hatch? That place is reserved for over sized birthday cakes and pinatas! It is not a safe play area!" The hatch from Freddy's chest opened up and something small landed on the floor with a thud. Freddy looked down and saw that it was a boy. He had short messy brown hair and eyes, light fan skin, a rounded face, there a small band aid on his right cheek and left knee, wearing a blue shirt with two white stripes going horizontally across, tan cargo shorts, white socks and red and cyan colored sneakers. Freddy noticed that the child looked a little skinny for his age. He bent down to the child's level to get a closer look at his face. The boy froze as Freddy scanned him with his eyes.
"There you are. Scanning complete. How odd. Your guest profile is unknown to me. Who are you?" Freddy asked.
"I-I'm Gregory." The child said, hesitantly. Freddy stared at him, silently thinking. This boy looks so scared and timid. Freddy felt an uneasy feeling for a split second when his vision became distorted, revealing a small crying boy surrounded by numerous plushies and toys that Freddy saw that they were of him and his friends. He blinked and saw Gregory staring back up at him, worried.
"I-Is everything okay? You sort of spaced out there for a minute?" Gregory asked. Freddy shook his head, shaking off the image that he saw.
"Gregory. I will notify the main office. Huh, connection error. I cannot connect to the main network." Freddy frowned. The systems were down?
"It's her. She cut you off. She's not going to let you call for help until she finds me." Gregory explained.
"Who? Who is looking for you? Your mother?" Freddy asked him, confused.
"Shh! I hear footsteps." Gregory panicked, as the two heard footsteps walking outside. The hall was completely dark, making it harder to see who was coming, aside from the neon lights that lighted up the hallway a little. Gregory and Freddy peeked out as they hid behind the curtain, seeing a light from a flashlight coming closer. Freddy saw that it was Vanessa, when she she's walked past his room, patrolling.
"That is the security guard. She can help."
"No! No, I don't trust her!" Gregory shook his head.
"Why not?" Freddy asked.
"I don't know who she is but she's trying to get me. Isn't there some other way for you to communicate with me besides talking too loudly?" Gregory asked him as the two stepped away from the glass window.
"Take this. It is a novelty Freddy Fazwatch." Freddy opened his hatch revealing a small wind-up present inside. Gregory opened it, putting the watch on. He was startled when he loud beeping sound that was coming from it.
"What was that?!" He exclaimed.
"I am sending you an encoded message." Freddy told him. Gregory looked down back at his watch to see a message pop up.
"Hello, Gregory, is its me, Freddy! I will escort you to the main entrance. However, I am unable to leave this room. You should have no problem. There is a button on the wall that will open the door to the back room. I will make it accessible to you now."
Gregory saw Freddy point over to the wall with the button that was near a door. He walked over to it and pressed it. The door unlocked itself and slid open.
"Well done, Gregory. There is an open air vent inside of the maintenance room. You will have to climb through the ventilation system and release me from the outside." Gregory heard Freddy through his watch. He could've just said so himself as he was just standing only a few feet away from him.
"It's pretty dark in there." Gregory cautiously looked inside to see a small dimly lit narrow back room.
"There is nothing for you to be scared of. You can do it." Freddy assured him.
Gregory walked inside and the door slammed shut behind him, startling him. He panicked and started to bang on the door calling for Freddy but received no response. Gregory gulped and looked around as he investigated the room further to find a way out. There was a large charging station, which he assumed was for Freddy. Then he noticed a stack of boxes leading up to an opened vent. He climbed up the pile and crawled into the vent.
As Gregory headed farther down he saw various rooms of the other animatronics, Roxy, who was talking to herself into the mirror, Monty, it was completely pitch black and Gregory couldn't see him, and finally Chica, who was rocking out on her electric guitar. Gregory made it to the end of the ventilation system and kicked open the grate and hopped out. He was outside of the animatronics rooms now and quickly headed over to Freddy's to release him.
"Way to go, superstar! I knew you could do it." Freddy encouraged him. Gregory made a small smile, smiling back at the animatronic.
"I know how to get you out of here. Climb back into my chest cavity. There is still time but we must hurry. If I am spotted, I will certainly be taken back to my room. I will escort you to the main exit through the utility tunnels. It is the safest path." Freddy explained.
"Okay, but you better be careful moving around. I don't want to be crushed and twisted into a meat pretzel." Gregory told him. However, just as he was about to climb in, he heard footsteps that were coming closer and closer. They were coming towards Freddy's room. "I hear footsteps! Someone's coming!"
"Stay quiet until I tell you that it's safe." Freddy told Gregory as he climbed inside Freddy's hatch. He quickly closed the hatch just as someone came in. Freddy's eyes widened seeing that it was Ayla.
"Ayla?"
"Freddy, I am so sorry! I don't know what happened!" She said all at once. She was having a anxiety attack. "I never make mistakes like this. If I knew that something was wrong I wouldn't have sent you out, you know that right?"
"I know that you wouldn't-" Freddy tried to reassure her to calm her down. But, Ayla continued nervously rambling on.
"Vanessa's been doing a security check, turns out the whole Mega PizzaPlex had been hacked by someone." Freddy blinked in confusion. Hacked? Who would back the PizzaPlex? It was going to have to wait. He needed to get Gregory out.
"Ayla, it is so great to see you, but now is not a great time. Can you come back later?" He told her. Ayla blinked in surprise.
"Are you mad at me?" Freddy's eyes widened and he shook his head.
"No! No! I really need to go somewhere for a minute. We'll talk when I get back." He told her as he was about to leave his room, but Ayla blocked his way.
"Freddy you know that you're not allowed out after hours, including the others. What is so important that you have to leave?" She saw Freddy's eyes shifted down, looking at his chest cavity for a split second before shooting back up at her.
"Are you hiding something?" She frowned, narrowing her eyes at him, concerned. "If there's something wrong I can take a look-"
"It is nothing!" Freddy replied. Ayla stared at him, silently, not moving an inch
"You are definitely hiding something. I'm going to give you to the count of five to open up," she pointed out, crossing her arms and began counting down with her fingers as she held them out to him. "One..."
"It is nothing, really!" Freddy insisted.
"Two."
"Shouldn't you check on the others? I'm sure they will be happy to have you look at them!"
"Three."
"Stop counting!"
"Then stop lying to me. Four..."
"I am not hiding anything!"
Before Freddy could react or stop her, Ayla had quickly pressed the animatronic's bow tie. His hatch popped open and Gregory came rolling out, falling on the floor. Ayla blinked, seeing him and Gregory looked up at her completely frozen in place as did Freddy.
"You kidnapped a child?!" She exclaimed, turning towards Freddy.
"I did no such thing! He stow away inside of me, while, I was recharging." Freddy defended. Ayla turned back to Gregory.
"There's nothing to be afraid of. Come with me and I'll take you to Vanessa. She'll be able to help you find your parents."
"That's what I told Gregory. But, he said that the security guard is after him. He is terrified of her." Freddy told her.
"It's true! She's after me! You can't turn me in, please!" Gregory insisted. "Freddy, was going to help get me out just before you came. Can't you just pretend that you didn't see me? I promise that I'll leave, if you just let us go!"
"Gregory, is that your name?" Ayla asked him. Gregory nodded. She looked at Freddy who was waiting to see what she was going to do then she looked back Gregory. "I'll let this slide. But, if you're going to leave you better do it now. The PizzaPlex is about to close up soon in fifteen minutes."
"Thank you!" Gregory smiled.
"I knew that I could trust you, Ayla." Freddy smiled and sighed in relief as well.
"Hurry before It's too late." Ayla told them.
"Let's go, superstar!" Freddy told Gregory as he helped him back into his stomach hatch.
Ayla smiled as she watched them leave the room, going out the door. It was strange seeing Freddy and Gregory together. She thought that they looked like a father and son or brotherly relationship. Freddy as an older brother or a father? She laughed at the thought, shaking her head. How cute.
Ayla left Freddy's room, to head back over towards the daycare. She knew that Sun must be worried sick or losing his mind after she left him like that. She needed to check up on him. However, as she continued walking, a glowing pair of red eyes was watching Ayla as she headed over to the daycare.
From the corner, a humanoid bunny-like character hopped silently after her, unnoticed.
Quietly stalking her.
