A/N:
Hmm, so I was watching a stream of this game and this thought came up about the True End. How did they escape when the elevator is broken, OMG are they stuck down there?, so now we're here.
I thought about putting this in the Clock Strikes 12 but I find this to be different from a normal death, it's kinda after the ending so. I'm working on some other things as well in this fandom so look forward to that. :)
Have fun, and leave a review if ya want.
They had done it, they had solved the mystery. They defeated that zombie bunny animatronic and freed the PizzaPlex from his tyranny. Not another child would lose their life within this place, at least that's what they thought.
It should've been a cause for celebration, they should've been living happy on the surface in the now safe PizzaPlex chowing down on some food and having fun ages ago. It had not taken long to realize their predicament, they escaped that crumbling monitor room and got to a more stable part of the old pizzeria only for it to suddenly dawn on them that they were stuck down here.
The elevator didn't work anymore and there were no other viable options of escape from here. They held out hope that Vanessa, now freed from possession, would somehow notice they were down here and come rescue them or at least someone would notice Freddy was missing and come find them, but after so long no one showed up and their hopes started to dwindle.
Both knew what this meant, and they knew what the consequences of this were.
Neither wanted to say it.
The bleakness of the situation was said without words as they both sat next to each other side by side.
Gregory was so thirsty.
There was neither water nor food down here, not even a drop of water from the dry cavern walls could be found. There was a recharge station so Freddy could keep himself charged, but there was nothing to keep Gregory going and both knew he wouldn't go on much longer like this.
He had been afraid, terrified beyond words at first, but slowly, fear gave way to numbness. He almost accepted their fate, yet true acceptance was held back by the unfairness of it all. They tried so hard and succeeded in their mission only to die here days after victory? Trapped in this abandoned pizzeria so far under the earth? He had only met his father figure just a few days ago and now he would have to let him go? Let everything go?
Gregory shivered, moaning at the uncomfortable chills raking through his small fragile body. Suddenly becoming touch starved for comfort, he reached out to Freddy.
"M- Cold… Freddy… can y-you?" His voice was raspy and dry, it was so exhausting to speak.
Freddy, already knowing what he wanted, shifted himself to lay back against the wall. He gently picked up Gregory and laid him on top of his chest, he was grateful as he didn't think he would've had the strength to climb up onto him anyway.
Freddy wasn't the softest bed, but he was warm and he was Freddy. He smiled in content, nuzzling against him like a kitten.
Maybe this wasn't the worst place to die, Gregory thought, safe in Freddy's arms, warm and loved. He couldn't ask for a better place to be. Now that he thought about it, he didn't really regret much of anything. That night he solved the mystery of the PizzaPlex was both the scariest and best night of his life, it was the night he met Freddy. No matter how short of a time he's known him, he still loved him like a father and he felt complete to have him in his life.
Gregory had solved the murders and had Freddy by his side. He felt content.
But still it was such a shame they didn't have more time to spend together. He wonders what Freddy will do once he's gone, the thought saddened him greatly, leaving him behind was the only regret he had.
"M…Sorry, Freddy…" He slurred much to the other's confusion, "I'll miss you…Dad. I…I love you."
He ignored any questions or words Freddy said, he couldn't hear much anymore anyway, simply enjoying his father's presence.
With a deep drawn out sigh, he gave into exhaustion and gently slipped into a peaceful slumber.
Never to awaken.
…
"Gregory, why are you apologizing?" Freddy asked. "Gregory…?"
There was no response from his child, he gently poked him then decidedly shook him.
Freddy's processors knew what had already happened but his emotional side wanted to desperately deny it.
He waited and watched Gregory's chest, praying for its expansion and contraction as he took breaths. He was eerily still. His processors were correct in what happened to his Superstar.
Freddy wished he could cry, he wished he had the mental strength to scream and smash things like Monty, as if that would fix anything, but he didn't move, he just stared at the cooling body of Gregory on his chest. It looked like he was sleeping, it looked like he was at peace.
Freddy sighed. "Oh, Gregory."
He stayed like that for a while, he wasn't sure if it were minutes, hours or days, time blurred together for him, and at some undisclosed time Freddy had gotten up carrying Gregory's body with him.
It took a bit of time to find something decent, but he found a perfectly undamaged wooden crate and he gently laid Gregory down inside of it. Freddy wasn't totally sure how funerals went, but he did know Gregory needed one, his Superstar deserved only the best after all. He stood at the edge of the crate looking down into it, looking down at his child. He felt the need to say something. It took some effort but he finally managed to say it.
"Gregory, I… I forgive you," Freddy had come to realize why he had apologized to him, he accepted without question, "It is not your fault."
He paused, a weary sigh leaving his voice box. "I love you too, son."
Freddy then closed the box, sealing his son's makeshift casket for the last time. He quickly etched an epitaph on the wood using his claws.
Here lies Gregory
Superstar
Son
XXXX - 2033
After he was done, Freddy sat against the wall beside it. Warnings of low power flashed in his mind but he ignored it, it was an easy fix with the recharge station but he didn't want to do so, instead choosing to power down for good. He had done everything he needed to do, no one needed him anymore, he chose to pass on with his son and follow him into the dark. As the shutdown process started for the last time, Freddy spoke to Gregory one last time as well.
"...Goodnight, Superstar."
