Epilogue

Three days had passed and Max and Chloe found themselves just outside of Seattle. One last push and then they would be back home. Chloe had been hinting at having something big to show Max for a while now and over the last couple of days she'd scarcely had her phone away from her ear. It had irked Max somewhat, but Chloe had sworn it would be worth it. That was something she planned to hold her to.

For now though, Chloe was off the phone and was free to enjoy the last day of their unexpectedly short honeymoon with Max. They were both enjoying it to their fullest. They'd mainly been hitting small towns that were rife with charity shops and thrift stores to make their clothing budgets go as far as possible, but had really been scoring buried treasures along the way. In fact, just thinking that alone had made them feel good. That had only increased when Chloe had found a Cones of Fire t-shirt. Apparently she'd found one at Rachel's house in the donation's box. She'd hung onto it ever since and still worn it sometimes too. It had been in the back of her truck with the rest of their luggage and lost with its destruction. But she was wearing the replacement she'd found now as the two of them walked along the beachfront and wearing it with pride. To see her happy brought an uncontrollable smile to Max's face.

"So..." Max ventured as she licked the ice cream that Chloe had bought the two of them. Since they'd been so good with their spending, they decided they could justify a treat on their final day. "I know our honeymoon didn't exactly go as planned, but did you enjoy it?" Chloe mulled it over for a moment, thoughtfully licking her ice cream until it was down to nearly the bare cone before replying.

"You know, I think this honeymoon has made us so much stronger as a couple." Those words alone made Max's heart swell. In truth, she'd been thinking the same thing privately for the last couple of days. "I mean seriously!" Chloe continued. "We've had an exploding truck, I stole your power, we got trapped in purgatory and then we spent an emergency drive home sharing changing rooms, cheap shitty motel rooms-"

"With surprisingly comfy beds." Max cut in.

"Bitch, you were sleeping on top of me!" Chloe snapped, shoving Max playfully as the shorter girl yelped in surprise and tried not to drop her ice cream. "Of course you were comfy! I was your breathing mattress!"

"Okay! Okay!" Max held up her hands in a surrender gesture. "But seriously, you are incredibly comfy."

"Max, we could get one of those fucking Emma mattresses and you'd still say I was comfier." Chloe sighed, rolling her eyes.

"Truth." Max grinned, winking at her. Just then, she noticed Chloe's attention seemed distracted by something. "What is it?"

"Oh, it's alright." Chloe said, brushing it off mildly. "I just thought there was a camera shop over there."

"Where?" Max asked, turning to look and completely missing Chloe moving from off to her right. When she looked back though, she knew exactly what had happened. "Chloe Elizabeth Price!" she screamed in rage, looking at her ice cream, which was now just a white stub of milky perfection that barely stuck out of the cone. She looked over just in time to see Chloe swallow as she unashamedly neglected to wipe the remnants from the corner of her mouth. Furiously, she held up her hand and focused for a few seconds.

"Oh, it's alright." Chloe said, brushing it off mildly. "I just thought there was a camera shop over there."

"Nice try, Chloe." Max grinned. "But I'm not falling for that again."

"Again?" Chloe wondered aloud before realising. "Did you rewind that, Max?" Max just grinned as she leaned up to peck Chloe on the cheek. On the way back down, her own jaws quickly closed around the top of Chloe's ice cream. She was nowhere near as greedy as Chloe had been, but since Chloe hadn't managed to get any at all of Max's this time, it was still enough to infuriate her.

"Maxine Grace Caulfield!" Chloe snapped and Max internally flinched at the sound of her full name. It didn't matter. It had been worth it. And when she looked up at Chloe again, her expression showed it.

"What can I say?" she asked, grinning cheekily. "Revenge is sweet."

End!

Author's Note: Okay, so I intended to post this a little while ago but it got shoved back due to life. But it gave me thinking time on a lot of things. After doing a lot of that thinking, I have come to the conclusion that this perpetual timeline for Max and Chloe has been fun, but I will be ending it soon in terms of progression. I may come back to it occasionally to add additional adventures that fit in too well to be left out, but they will be during random points that have already been visited. My LiS fanfictions going forward will focus on being their own individual things to just add a breath of fresh air to my writing. That said, there is a Part 2 coming soon for Futures and Fun Times, so that'll be something to look forward to. In the meantime, thanks to everyone who's read this story so far. I hope you've enjoyed reading it as much as I've enjoyed writing it. I hope to see you all in the next story.
