A Hedgehog In Chaldea
*A Few Hours Later, Inside The Building*
After being blacked out for a few hours, Sonic slowly began opening his eyes, regaining his costiveness and noticing that he was now inside a room with bright lights shining down at him.
"*Yawn* W-Where am I? A-Am I dead?" Sonic said
Sonic look's at his hands and notices that he can move his body better now.
"Well, at least everything is not bad after all," Sonic said to himself
"*Giggle* Your telling me. It's nice to meet you, Sonic... I hope that's your name." A female voice said
Sonic heard a voice of a girl as he slowly turns his head toward's the right and notices a young girl sitting down next to him with a smile on her face. The young girl had lilac hair, lavender eyes, wearing rectangular frame glasses, a grey hoodie over a black shirt over a white-collar shirt, a red tie, a black shirt, tights, and brown shoes.
"O-Oh, umm... Hi. It's nice to meet you as well." Sonic responded
"My name is Mash Kyrielight. I'm sorry that you have to go through all this trouble." Mash introducing herself
"It's okay, I've been through worse things. It's nice to meet you as well... Um... Mash, right?" Sonic said
"Yes, it is." Mash replies
"Oh, right. Sorry about that." Sonic apologizing
"No need to worry. You know, even though the others think that are you are some creature here to infiltrate this facility. You are a kind being." Mash said
"Well, I don't get that a lot. I'm just A Hedgehog who likes going out on adventures." Sonic said
"Going on adventures? Interesting, tell me more about it."
"Well for starters..."
Before Sonic can continue to talk, his stomach begins to growl loud enough to where both he and Mash heard it growled.
"Seems like you're hungry after all the things you've been through, today. Would you care for some food I've made for you before I came here?" Mash asked
"Umm... sure... I hope it isn't some animal food like I was given before." Sonic said
"Oh, don't worry, it's something that you will quite love," Mash said
Mash turn's around and grab's a plate with 2 freshly made Chili Dogs and shows them to Sonic. Sonic eyes lit up as he stared down at the chilli dogs and begins to drool.
"I made 2 Chili Dogs for you. I hope you enjoy them." Mash said
Sonic slowly stood up from the hard bed he was laying on and slowly takes the plate off Mash's hands. As he grabs the plate, he looks at it and begins to have deep thoughts on what's happening.
"H-How does she know what my favourite food is? Is she some kind of magician? Where am I exactly, now?" Sonic thought
"U-Uh... Hey, Mash, I'm sorry to ask this, but... how did know Chili Dogs were my favourite food?" Sonic asks
"O-Oh, It's quite hard to explain," Mash said
*Flashback, Not Too Long Ago*
While Mash while walking around the hallway facility, minding her own business, she begins to hear voices coming from one of the rooms she was passing by at. She stops in her tracks and begins to hear what the voices were saying.
"Romani, give me a report on the status of that creature we found outside the facility. What have we learned so far?" The girl said
"Well for starters, he calls himself Sonic The Hedgehog. He seems comfortable around humans... surprisingly. His favourite food is... Chili Dogs... interesting. Never heard of a creature liking human food but anyway. We also confirmed that he isn't a rouge Heroic Spirit of any kind as well, which is quite strange if I do say myself." The man said
"This doesn't make any sense at all... who the hell can this mysterious creature be if he isn't a servant? I hope this isn't some omen for terrible things to come for us..."
"Now now there Olga. Let's not be so quick to judge on our blue guest of any wrongdoing towards any of us. I'm sure there is a reasonable explanation for his arrival and existence overall." Another man's voice said
"Well until getting some kind of explanation from him, he's not allowed to leave our site! I have no idea what the hell he is, but I won't let some annoying talking blue rat ruin everything my father worked so hard to create here! We're going to have a little discussion with him very soon." Olga said
Mash heard everything the three were saying about Sonic decided to make the first move before they can.
"I can't let this Sonic person get introduced with shouting all over him. I should go introduce myself to him first with a warm welcome and bring him something to show that he has every right to stay here and be trustworthy if given the chance. And I know what to bring to him." Mash said
Mash turn's around as she begins running towards another location to prepare herself to meet this Sonic person she heard about.
*End Of Flashback*
"Soo... they were analyzing me while I was out cold to see who if I'm some kind of intruder? And at that time, they discovered what my favourite food is as well." Sonic said
"That is the gist of it," Mash said
"Well, to be honest with you, Mash. This isn't the first time something like this has ever happened before, so I'm pretty used to stuff like this. Either way, it was a pleasure to meet you, Mash. I hope we can spend time together more in the future." Sonic said while eating the chilli dogs
"It was a pleasure meeting you as well, I hope the same thing we can continue our conversations in the future," Mash said
Moments later, the door of the room opens as three individuals enter the room. One was a girl with white, another was a guy with emerald green eyes, orange fluffy hair that pasts his shoulder, a white coat with white gloves and white shoes and pants.
"Oh good, you're finally awake- Wait a second. Kyrielight, what do you think you're doing in here? You're supposed to be at the briefing with the rest of your team and all the candidates!"
"I-I'm sorry Director... I heard about the creature right next to me in passing and I wanted to meet it myself... Instead, I ended up having a long conversation with Mr. Sonic and I lost track of time! I'm very sorry!" Mash apologizing profusely
"A sorry is not going to cut it for me! Just gets to the briefing and we'll discuss this later."
"Y-Yees ma'am... I'll head right over... Please excuse me, everyone..." Mash said before exiting the room
Sonic watches as the innocent girl walks out of the room quickly before looking at Olga and giving a, 'are you serious?' look on his face.
"Why would you talk to her like that? She just wanted to help someone and get's in trouble for it? How is that fair to you?" Sonic asks Olga
"Don't worry about her rodent, you should be focused on your predicaments at hand! Now, where did you come from, how did you even get here, and what is your aim exactly by being here?!" Olga integrating Sonic
"Your starting to rub me the wrong way, but if you want answers. I'll give you answers, I'm from Earth! Earth is similar to this one, you guys are humans after all. As for how I got here, I was dealing with my own problems with an Egg-shaped Evil scientist and got sucked into a portal and got teleported here in the process while dealing with him! At this point, I just want to return back home if I'm not going to be welcomed here." Sonic said while irritated
"I'd call your claims of this completely idiotic, but your existence here says so otherwise... Either way, we have no clue what you are and we're not letting you out of our sight anytime soon. So, I suggest you get comfortable with your stay here Hedgehog." Olga said
"So as of now till the future, I'm basically your prisoner here?" Sonic said
"If you wish to think of it that way, be my guest, I don't care. But don't worry, we won't treat you horribly like you're some test monkey. We simply just want to understand what you truly are. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have a briefing to go to. Lev, Romani, let us be off." Olga said before exiting the room
"Y-Yes Director... I'm sorry for the attitude Sonic. She's not a bad person I promise. I'll be back to check on you soon. Oh, and by the way, my name is Romani Archaman, but you can just call me Archaman." Romani said
"It's nice to meet you as well, Romani. I apologize for how I was acting just now, I'm just overwhelmed with my thoughts and couldn't focus." Sonic said
"Oh don't worry, everything is alright. You seem like a kind... creature in general. Just relax for a little and I'll be right back to see you, got it?" Romani said
"Got it. Thank you." Sonic said
"Anyway's I have to get going." Romani exited the room and left Lev and Sonic alone
"My my, how things are starting to get interesting all of a sudden. I wonder how your presence here will change things?" Lev said
"Ummm... I'm not really sure what You're trying to say there." Sonic replied
"Oh don't mind me Mr. hedgehog. Just looking
*Later*
A couple of hours have passed since Sonic has met Mash, Olga, Romani, and Lev. Sonic was lying on the hard bed, peacefully sleeping without any distractions or being visited by any of the four.
"Zzzzz... Zzzzzz..."
All of a sudden, while Sonic was sleeping, the lights of the room turned off suddenly and the room was now in complete darkness. Moments later, Sonic is woken up from the sounds of explosions and sirens.
"W-Whoa! What in the world is happening?! What's up with the noises and shaking! What is going on in this place?!" Sonic said
"Emergency. Emergency. A fire has broken out in the Central Power Station and the Central Command Room. Central Area's containment wall will activate in 90 seconds. All staff must evacuate from Gate 2 at once. Repeat. The Central Power Station, and the Central-"
"That answers my question. But less time talking and more time running and escaping from this facility." Sonic said
Sonic quickly gets up from the bed and runs over to the door that opens up for him.
"It opens? How very lucky I very am. I still don't know what on earth is going on, but if I can get out of this place, I'll gladly take it!" Sonic said
Sonic begins running out into the hallways and begins running around the place to find some kind of exit out of the facility. As is he running around the hallways, seeing other staff members frantically running around in a panic, he unintentionally runs into Romani and stops right in front of him.
"Whoa! Now, this is a friendly face I'm glad to see once again! Nice to see you, Romani!" Sonic said
"Sonic?! What on earth are you doing out here?! N-Nevermind that, you have to evacuate with all the other staff! I need to head to the Command Room before the containment wall closes!" Romani said
"Just what on earth is happening around here Romani?! I get woken up by a large explosion and alarms going off and I've been seeing a lot of people running around frantically panicking!" Sonic said
"*Sigh* There was a massive fire inside the Command Room and I'm trying to rush over there to find any survivors. Mash and her team were in there during the time of the explosion and I have to make sure she and the others are alive!" Romani frantically explaining things
"Mash is in there?! Oh no... Romani, where is the Command Room? I'll get her and the other survivors in there out as fast as possible! You can trust me on this one!" Sonic said
"Are you insane, Sonic? You'll never make it there in time to get everyone that's alive out! Just head to Gate 2 and I'll go check and get back soon!" Romani said
"Roman... if there is one thing you should know about me by now. I'm not called Sonic just because it sounds cool. I'm Sonic The Hedgehog, The Fastest Thing Alive!" Sonic said
"Fastest thing alive..? What do you even mean by that..?" Romani said
"Just hang tight! I'll be back before you know it!" Sonic said before running off at the speed of light towards the Command Room
"Whoa! Just what exactly is he?!" Romani said
*Inside The Command Room*
Sonic quickly enters the Command Room and notices the violent fire engulfing the Command Room.
"Generator operation stopped. Power level critical. Switch to the backup generator, error. Please make switch manually. Containment wall will close in 50 seconds. Those remain in Central Area, evacuate immediately-" Announcement A
"What have I walked into?! This is horrible... HEY! Is anyone alive?! Please, if anyone is alive please say something!" Sonic shouted before running around the room, looking for survivors in the coffins
"System switching to the final phase of Rayshift. Coordinates, AD 2004, January 30th, Fuyuki, Japan. Laplace's shifting protection established. Singularity's additional factor slot secured. Unsummon Program set. Please start final adjustments." Announcement B
"SOMEONE PLEASE!" Sonic shouted on top of his lungs
"S... S... Sonic... I-Is that... you?" Mash said
Sonic turns and notices Mash in one of the Coffins, badly injured and her face covered in blood.
"Mash! Hang on buddy! I'll get you out of this thing and get you to Roman fast!" Sonic said while climbing into the Coffin ad picking up Mash
"S-So... nic... Please... Get out of here... J... Just leave me here... I-I won't make it put here alive..." Mash said
"Absolutely not! I am definitely not leaving you here to die! I'll get you out of here in fla-"
"Warning all observation staff. Chaldeas' state has changed. Now rewriting Shiva's near-future prediction data. Unable to detect the existence of Mankind for 100 years in the near-future of Earth. Unable to confirm human survivors. Unable to guarantee mankind's future."
"What the!? What is going on Mash?! What did I just hear?!" Sonic shocked
"C-Chaldeas... has turned bright red... No, never mind, that-"
"Central Area, sealed. 180 seconds till internal containment procedure." Announcement A
"...they, shut off, the area. Now, we can't, get out, Sonic." Mash said
"Don't worry, will something figure something out to escape this mess!" Sonic said
Moments later, the Coffin door slams shut and locks both Sonic and Mash inside it.
"HEY! What the heck! Let us out!" Sonic banging on the door
"Sonic... I... I'm so sorry... I got you I-in to this..." Mash shedding a tear
"It was my own decision to come here! Whatever mess we're about to get into, I'll stick by your side no what!" Sonic said
"Coffin Vitals: Masters baseline not reached. Rayshift requirement not met. Searching for qualifying Master... Found. Unidentified Candidate reset as Master. Unsummon Program, start. Spiritron Conversion, start."
"Um... Son... ic...? Would you mind... Holding my hand?" Mash asks Sonic
"Sure thing, buddy." Sonic holding Mash's hand gently
"Rayshift starting in 3... 2... 1... All procedures clear. First Order, commencing operation."
Moments later, the two begin teleporting into a new world.
*AD 2004 Flame Contaminated City: Fuyuki*, Burning City*
"Kyuu... Kyuu... Fou... Fou... Fou..."
"Ugh... My head... What happened? Where am I? Why is it so hot all of a sudden too?" Sonic slowly waking up, feeling groggy but not there yet
"Sonic. Please wake up, Sonic... Won't wake up. Maybe I should use the official title... Master, please wake up. If you don't wake up, I will kill you."
Sonic eyes widen as he quickly gets from the ground cleans the dirt off him.
"Okay okay, I'm up. You don't have to tell me twice." Sonic said
"Master! You're okay! Thank goodness! I'm so glad you're safe." Mash said with a smile on her face
"Fou fou! Fou fou! (Looks like you have finally woken up blue boy. I was afraid you would miss us crossing the border...)" Fou jumping on top of Sonic's head
"Sure you would had a great time crossing it too fur ball. Anyway, glad to see you're doing alright Mash. But before we do anything, what's with the new Halloween costume all of a sudden? And did I just hear you say, "I will kill you?" to me?" Sonic asks
"First of all, this...? Well... it's a little complicated to explain. But to answer your second question, that came out wrong. What I mean to say was, "you're going to be killed." I was confused because everything happened so quickly. As much as I want to gather our thought, please look around you." Mash said
"Gi-GAAAAAAAAA!"
"Linguistic communication impossible. Identifying life-form as hostile. Master, your orders, please. You and I will overcome this together!" Mash said
"Why is she calling me, "Master" all of a sudden? N-Nevermind that, I have to with these chumps right now." Sonic thought
"Heh, these chumps think that can take us in? I'd like to see em try. Let me clear out these guys for you Mash." Sonic said
Moments later, Sonic starts circling around the monsters, building up a massive tornado that sweeps up the monsters and blows them away.
"W-Wow... That was... Sonic, that was amazing...! I have never seen anyone if anything move as fast as you!" Mash shocked
"*Rubbing His Back While Blushing* Hehe! Just wait and see what else I can do! Now then, how about finally explaining what is going on for a buddy?" Sonic said
"O-Oh of course! Let's get somewhere where no Monsters are around. We'll be able to talk freely there." Mash said
*At Another Location Of The Burning City*
After finding a perfect hideout where no monster can distract Sonic and Mash, Mash explains some things to Sonic up to this point.
"So let me see if I got all the information correct... You, your team, and all of those candidates were tasked with checking these so-called Singularities with these people called Heroic Spirits or Servants right? But not only that but when we all ended up here, you managed to fused with one whose Master ended up dying?" Sonic said
"That's basically it. I was able to survive due to the contract I made with that specific servant. In exchange for giving me the power and Noble Phamtsom to fight, I would eliminate whatever is causing this Singularity." Mash said
"Man... I've been on many weird adventures before, but this one might take the crown of being the weirdest adventure I've ever been involved with. But either way, you're alive and safe, so that's all that matters in the end. Anyway, let's start trying to find a way out of this dang place and back to the original world you called 'Chaldea' or whatever you guys call it." Sonic said
"Fou... Fou fou!...! (Yes let's get of this place please... I've had my fur singed several times just by walking around here." Fou said
"Eh don't worry little bud, the fire isn't too hot to bear with. Granted, I myself have been in literal volcanoes before, so the heat here around us isn't bothering me too much here." Sonic said
"Hey, Sonic... I've been meaning to ask this since we got here but... Can you understand what Fou says?" Mash asks
"I can basically. A lot of the animals from where I came from I'm able to understand. Fou here is honestly like one of those animals, so I figured I could understand and talk to him." Sonic said
"Fou! Fou fou foooou! (How could you, I'm deeply hurt. You say that like we never had real conversations before! Either way, I do agree that it is nice to have someone around finally understand me. It is a pleasure having you aboard with Blue boy.)" Fou said
"Glad to be aboard as well fur-ball. Now then, what are we going to do now? There has to be a way out of this burning crisis city." Sonic said
"Hello?! Can anyone hear me?! I was finally able to get through! This is Chaldea Command Room! Can you read me?" Romani appearing
"This is Mash Kyrielight, member of Team A. I have successfully shifted to Singularity F. My companion is the unregistered Master, Sonic The Hedgehog. Both mind and body are intact as well as rayshift and master compatibility being satisfactory." Mash responded
"So it really was Sonic that Rayshifted... I can't believe he was able to maintain his very existence despite not being tested at all. You're quite some else, aren't you Sonic?" Romani said
"Hey, what you is what you will get Roman. I'm just a guy that loves himself a good ol adventure. Can't have an adventure without a little risk from time to time. Makes it much more exciting." Sonic said
"Well... our definition of "fun" is quite different in this regard. And also, I'm really glad you're safe as well Mash... But what's up with that outfit? It's shameless! I didn't raise you to dress like that!" Romani said
"I-I transformed into this. I couldn't protect Sonic wearing Chaldea's uniform."
"What do you mean by transformed Mash? Did you hit your head? Or was it that..."
"Dr. Roman. Please be quiet. Please check my condition. I think you'll understand the situation better."
"Your physical condition? Wh-Whoa, whoa, whoa, WHOA! Physical strength, Magical Circuits, everything's improved! You're not so much a human, but-"
"Yes, I'm a Servant. When I was Rayshifting, I made contact with a Heroic Spirit that has lost his master. He and I formed a contract together and I was able to transform into what you see now. Unfortunately... I did not get his name... All I have are his abilities and Noble Phantasm..." Mash explaining
"A Heroic Spirit and a human, fused... A Demi-Servant? That's Chaldea's sixth experiment. See. So it finally succeeded, huh? Does this Heroic Spirit still have his consciousness?" Romani said
"...No, he gave me his combat abilities then vanished. He never really said his True Name even at the end. So I don't even know whose Heroic Spirit I am... ...Nor what kind of Noble Phantasm I'm holding. At this point there's too much I don't know." Mash said
"Hey, look on the bright side. Not every Servant who gets summoned is cooperative with a human so you got extremely lucky in this regard. Either way, I'm just thankful you and Sonic are both alive and okay. However, I do wanna apologize to you Sonic. I'm sorry for forcing you into this whole ordeal without any explanation. I'm sure you're full of questions, but try not to worry. You've already got a powerful weapon. Humanity's most powerful weapon - Mash."
"I don't know about "most powerful." I'm the one who gets blamed later." Mash
"Now, now, as long as Sonic understands that's what a Servant is, it'll be fine. But Sonic, while Servants can be reliable allies, they also have a weakness. They disappear without their magical energy source. Their Master. Aka... you, Sonic. I'm still analyzing the data, but it's indicating that Mash has become your Servant.
"Mash only explained it briefly to me, but what exactly are these Servants you guys keep talking about Roman?" Sonic asks
"O-Oh... I forgot you're still new to this whole thing. Basically, Servants or Heroic Spirits as they've also called, are powerful familiars that magus luke us can summon to aid us in battle or other tasks if so need be it. They come in various classes and each servant is vastly unique. As you can see here, Mash has become a Servant, and you are her Master." Romani explained what Servants are to Sonic
"Her Master? Does that explain this weird-looking red tattoo on my right hand?" Sonic said while looking at his right hand
"Indeed it does, Sonic. That is your common seal; With it, you can give me and any other Servant a command at will and we will obey it, no questions asked." Mash said
"Bleh... I'm not really into that Master servant stuff you guys talked about... I'd rather you guys do what you feel is best for yourself and everyone than I call all the shots for you do. I'll lead a team for sure, but I won't control what everyone does for them. That's not my thing." Sonic said
"Interesting, An extremely rare quality to find in a magus... Then again you're aren't really a magus now are you? Either way, right now we should focus on you two finding a leyline to strengthen our connections. I'm detecting one 2 km away from you guys." Romani said
"Understand Doctor. Master and I will head there immediately and set up a base camp. Sonic are you ready to go? It'll be a bit of trek there so we should get a head start on it now." Mash said
"No need to worry about the distance Mash. I'll get us there before you can even blink." Sonic said
Moments later, Sonic put's Fou on top of his head and lifts Mash up in a bridal carry.
"M-Master! H-Hold on! This is a bit much and so sudden!" Mash blushing
"Just hang on tight buddy, cause here we go!" Sonic shouted before speeding off towards their destination
