Fuyuki (Part 3)
*Let's Continue Where We Left Off*
"...And that's the current situation in Chaldea. Currently, Sonic is the acting Master and in the middle of conducting field research. Let me confirm something. You're a Servant from the Holy Grail War that broke out in this city, and the sole survivor?" Romani asks
"If by that you I haven't lost. Our Holy Grail War changed to something else entirely along the way. I don't know how it happened either. The city was engulfed in flames, and the humans vanished. Only the Servants remained. Saber was the first to resume the Holy Grail War. That chap began rampaging like a tiger released from a cage. Archer, Lancer, Rider, Berserker, and Assassin were all defeated by Saber." Caster responded
"The survival of the Seven Servants... That rule of the Holy Grail War was broken here." Olga said
"And in the end, you won, Caster... Or rather, you're the Servant who survived." Mash said
"Yes. Any Servant that was defeated by Saber became like those two we just fought, corrupted by the black mud. They, and the monsters that sprung up like maggots, started looking for something together. The troublesome part is that I'm one of the things they're looking for. You see, the Holy Grail War won't end until I'm killed." Caster said
"To be honest, I'm not surprised that the other Servants are out there still, waiting to kill you when they have the chance," Sonic said
"You and Saber are the only surviving Servants... Then If you defeat Saber..." Romani added
"Yes, that would probably end the Holy Grail War here. But I don't know whether things would return to normal." Caster said
"I see. You helped us, but in the end, it was for your own sake, huh? You want to defeat Saber, but don't stand a chance doing it alone. That's why you zeroed in on us... right?" Olga asking Caster
"That's right. But it's not a bad deal, is it? At any rate... it looks like we've got company." Caster said
Moments later, Skeleton enemies begin to appear.
"GuOOOOOOO!"
"Yikes!"
"There's no end to these guys. I'm telling you, there's nothing better than having allies!" Caster said
"Lock and load, Mash. Prepare for battle!" Sonic said
"Understood, Master!" Mash responded
The Skeleton began charging towards the three with their swords ready to attack. Sonic and Mash soon began to charge towards the Skeletons as well. The first Skeleton lunges toward Sonic and attempts to attack Sonic with a sword attack but Sonic manages to evade the attack and counter back with a double hitting "break-dance" spinning kicks towards the Skeleton, making lose its balance falling to the ground. Sonic then jumps away as Mash appears with her shield risen above her and slamming it down at the Skeleton, breaking and shattering the Skeleton into pieces before fading away. The second Skeleton charges at Mash from behind and was about to attack her until it was hit by an energy blast and sent flying towards a light post and hitting it. Mash looks and notices the Skeleton before turning and looking at Caster, smiling at him. Moments later, three more skeletons holding spears appear and begin charging up at the three before Sonic circles around the three Skeletons and builds up a powerful blue tornado around them. Inside the tornado, the three Skeletons were repeatedly getting struck by Sonic at every angle as they had no chance of attacking Sonic due to his speed and striking them at random angles each time he attacks. After several seconds have passed through, Sonic stops running circles around them as the tornado exploded and destroys the skeletons into pieces before fading away. Sonic looks back at Mash and Caster and gives them a thumbs up, telling him he was okay. All of a sudden, two more skeletons wielding swords appear behind Sonic as both attack Sonic at the same time.
"Master, look out!" Mash shouted
Sonic quickly turns and notices the Skeletons were right in front of him and were about to attack him until powerful energy flew towards them and blasts the skeletons away from Sonic and destroyed them before fading away. Sonic looks and notices Caster with his
"And that's the last of them." Caster said
"Thanks, Caster, you saved me there at the last part." Sonic thanking Caster
"Don't mention blue boy," Caster responded
"I'm sorry Sonic... I wasn't there to protect you from that attack... please forgive me..." Mash apologizing for not helping Sonic in time
"Hey, don't worry about it bud. It's all good, besides, I'm still standing, aren't I?" Sonic said
"Sigh... Looks like things have settled down at last. True, we can't have a decent conversation like this." Mash said
"My bad. If I'd been summoned as a Lancer, I could've finished off Saber with just one strike. Man, Caster is just not for me. I don't like being a Caster in a Holy Grail War like this. If anything, I'd rather have blue boy's power over here, running super fast and doing crazy moves during combat. Hey, what more can you ask for?" Caster said
"They aren't as easy as you think they are but alright. If you even had my running powers, you would've been tired from here to this bridge very fast. If you were Lancer..." Sonic said
"It's been known to happen, Senpai. Some Heroic Spirits have the attributes of multiple classes. He is not just a spear-wielder, but a high-level Heroic Spirit with qualifications to be a mage. I'm only speculating, but he must be one of the top Servants. The kind that's featured in a magazine called Vivian." Mash said
"So let me guess this straight on what you just said. Let's say for example that I summoned you as who you are right now, but then soon after I summon another one of you that is a different Class Servant with different skills and weapons. Is that correct?" Sonic recapping what Mash explained to him
"Correct." Mash responded
"Man, this Servant stuff is getting more and more complicated every time I learn something new about it." Sonic rubbing his head
"Ahh yes, you said were Masters of an organization called Chaldea... I guess that's all I need to know. In general, Servants tend not to get overly involved in problems outside of their time period. We ultimately only cooperate as weapons. Your goal is to investigate this anomaly. My goal is to put an end to the Holy Grail War. We share mutual interests. So how about we join forces?" Caster said
"...That is a rational proposition. But if we do that, who will be your Master?" Olga asks
"Well, that blue boy there, of course. It doesn't seem like you have the aptitude to be a Master. I mean you possess high quills magical circuits, yet you don't have the aptitude to be a Master. Is it a curse?" Caster said
"Oh, shut up! What do you care! Sonic, he's in your hands. Use him wisely and don't mess it up." Olga said
"Then it's settled. The contract is only temporary, but I'm counting on ya. That leaves one last thing, your goal. What you're looking for is probably the Greater Grail." Caster said
"The what now?" Sonic said
"Greater Grail? I'm not familiar with that. What is it?"
"This land's true "heart." If there is indeed a "Singularity," it has to be that. But Saber is lingering around the Greater Grail. The remaining Servants she contaminated, too." Caster explaining
"Berserker and Archer are the ones left? What are those two like? Are they strong?" Olga asks
"No matter how strong my opponents are, I will take them out in a flash. I can occupy Saber while you guys destroy this greater grail thing you mentioned. This Saber person may be strong what from what I've been told, but I doubt she'll have the speed to keep up with me." Sonic said
"Will you stop being so reckless and hold on a damn second you damn annoying Hedgehog?! We don't even know where Saber or this Greater Grail is and you're about to run off to god knows where with no idea where to look!" Olga annoyed by Sonic's behaviour
"Easy there little lady, no need to lose your cool now. Well, as I was saying, Archer can be dealt with if I'm with you. Berserker is the problem. Even Saber had trouble with that monster. But he won't attack unless you get close to him, so ignoring him is one option." Caster said
"That option will completely fail since Hedgehog here likes to swoop in and attack things randomly without thinking," Olga said
"Hey, that's just who I am. Might as well be the first one to start attacking instead of waiting around to see who makes the first move." Sonic responded
"You little..."
"We understand the situation now. We'll team up with Mr. Caster to obtain the Greater Grail. Mr. Caster, would you show us the way?" Romani said
"Skep the "Mister" I'll take you there. Blue boy here will decide when to make our move." Caster said
"Much obliged. Then shall we resume the search? I'm counting on you, Sonic." Romani said
"Then it's settled, come on now you three, let's get a move on!" Sonic said before running off on his own
"I SAID DON'T RUN OFF ON YOUR OWN! GET BACK HERE YOU ANNOYING RAT!" Olga shouted while running after Sonic
"*Sigh* I apologize for those two Caster... We're still trying to get them to get along with one another." Mash apologizing
"Haha! No worries their kid! This is probably the most entertainment I've had in a good while. Let's catch up to them before a monster gets 'em first." Caster said
*At Another Location*
"..."
"Hey, Sonic. It's pretty obvious that Kyrielight's looking depressed. You are her Master, aren't you? Do something to cheer her up!" Olga said
"Hey Mash, what's gotten you in a sad state? Is there something you're thinking that's making you unhappy? Please share it with me, I'll like to help you the best I can." Sonic said
"N-Nothing! There's nothing different. I'm operating perfectly, Master! But that's the problem, nothing's different... under your command Senpai, I have gained enough experience... And yet... I'm still unable to unleash my Noble Phantasm. I don't even know how to unleash it... I'm like a defective Servant." Mash said
"Fou... (Poor Mash.)" Fou said
"Mash, I don't like seeing you in such a sad state. I'm doing my absolute best to get you your Noble Phantasm. Trust me, I really am..." Sonic said
"Oh, so that's what was bothering you. You have such a strong sense of responsibility, Mash... But I don't think that can be settled overnight. After all, it's a Noble Phantasm. If a Heroic Spirit's secret weapon can be mastered within a day or two, then Servants wouldn't be that special anymore." Romani said
"Of course we can master something like that immediately. After all, Heroic Spirits and Noble Phantasms are the same thing. if the young lady here can fight as a Servant, that means at that very moment you can use your Noble Phantasm. And yet you can't, which simply means your magical. energy is not circulating right. Let's see, maybe enthusiasm? No, perhaps too reserved? Anyway, I'm sure it's because you just don't yell out when you practice." Caster said
"Really? R-E-A-L-L-Y-!?"
"Faaaaaaaaa? (What are you doing there, Mash?)" Fou said
"Whoa there Mash... let's calm down there." Sonic said
"Hey, don't yell all of a sudden! You're going to burst my eardrums, seriously!" Olga said
"Sorry Director."
"Isn't that technically a good thing for you since you don't like listening to me whenever I talk?" Sonic said
"..."
"...What?" Sonic looking at Olga
"*Whistles* Didn't expect blue boy here to say anything like that." Caster commented
"A-Anyway, Caster said we should shout..." Mash said
"No, that was a metaphor... Well, at any rate, I see you have enthusiasm. Blue boy, you heard the young lady. Do you mind if we take a quick detour?" Caster asks
"A Detour? What kind of Detour?" Sonic said
"What? I'm just talking about special training. It won't take long. I'm a Caster right now, so leave the healing to me. First, we'll start off small. Let me inscribe some misfortune-bringing runes... Okay, we're done."
"Huh? What are you doing? Why are you inscribing runes on my coat?" Olga said
"Even if something targets you, you can take care of yourself, right? And look, here they come." Caster said
Moments later, Skeleton enemies appear.
"Grrrrrr... Zuaaaaaa!"
"I don't know what you're talking about!" Olga said
"D-Director, get behind me! Prepare for battle!"
"All right, that should be enough. To put it simply, a Noble Phantasm is part of a Heroic Spirit's instinct. It's hard to use it if you think too much. Therefore, you must first use up all of your energy, young lady! Man, I'm a genius!" Caster said
"That's the most ridiculous thing I've heard today. But anyway, Mash, get ready for battle." Sonic said
"Understood, Master!"
Sonic begins charging at one of the Skeletons at light speed. The Skeleton notices Sonic and charges at him as well. Even before the Skeleton can perform a sword slash towards Sonic, Sonic grabs the Skeleton and quickly backflips repeatedly with the Skeleton in tow before performing the tomoe nage and sending it flying towards Mash. Mash notices the Skeleton flying towards her as she holds her shield tightly and slams her shield at the skeleton and sending it flying to the air. Moments later, Caster fires energy at the skeleton as they all exploded and destroy it before fading away. The skeleton charges at Sonic from behind and slashes him from behind but Sonic was ready for the attack and evades the sword attack. Soon after evading the attack, Sonic counters back by performing a tornado kick at the Skeleton's Skull head and shatters it into small pieces before Fading away soon after. All of a sudden, two more sword-wielding Skeletons appear as they both charge at Mash. Mash notices and charges right at the skeletons as well. The Skeletons were about to swing their swords right at Mash before she came running towards them at full force and slamming them into her shield where both Skeletons get knocked back and trip, falling to the ground. Moments later, Caster fires more energy at the skeletons as the energy exploded once making contact with the Skeletons and sending them up to the air. Soon after, Sonic jumps right at them and performs an axe kick at one of them, sending them down the ground and hitting the other as well before both hit the ground hard and faded away. After taking down two more Skeletons, more began to appear in front of them.
"These guys don't know when to give up..." Mash said
"Don't give up yet Mash! If you want your Noble Phantasm early, then keep on fighting! You got this! I believe in you." Sonic said
"You heard Master young lady... Let's show these guys what we're made of." Caster said
The three continue to fight the rest of the Skeleton enemies. For several minutes, the three were defeating each Skeleton one by one.
"I-I can't go on... Any more back-to-back, battles... I'm sorry, Caster... Rather than test my will, please teach me some solid theories..."
"You just don't get it, do you? Did I miscalculate? Oh well, let's cross that bridge when we get to it. Okay, I'm your next opponent. You don't have to hold back because we're allies. I'm not gonna hold back when I kill blue boy here." Caster said
"Wh-!"
"Say what now again? Did I hear that correctly?" Sonic dumbfounded at what he just heard
"What are you talking about? Are you crazy? What does Sonic have to do with this?!" Olga said
"A Servant's problems are the Master's problems. Didn't I mention that you share the same fate? You've had the same thought, right blue boy? When the young lady can't stand anymore, it's your death." Caster said
"What the heck are you talking about?" Sonic replied
"Master, please, stand back! I... won't be a hindrance for Senpai... I won't!" Mash said
"That's what I like to hear. All right, let's have a real Servant battle." Caster said
"Mash, it's time to show Caster who you really are." Sonic said
"Understood, Master. I will " Mash said
"It's okay, I'll be fine. I've always been." Sonic responded
"Enough talk, let's us begin." Caster said
Moments later, both Mash and Caster began battling each other as Sonic and Olga watch from behind. As their fighting raged on for several minutes, Mash is seen having a hard time keeping up with Caster and struggling to block his attacks. She desperately did her best to attack Caster as much as she can but Caster was stronger than her and couldn't deal as much hits as she wanted to. Olga turns to look at Sonic and notices Sonic starting to have a concerning look at his face.
"(Pant)... (Pant)... (Pant)... I... I can still... fight!" Mash breathing heavily and struggling to hold her shield up
"Come on kid! If I was any other Heroic Spirits, I would have killed you the miniute you showed any sign of slowing down and getting tired! Is this seriously all you have?!" Caster said
"O-Of course not! I can still fight! I can protect my Master just as well as any other Servant!" Mash retaking her fighting stance
"Come on Mash, you got this! Don't give up! Don't let Pajama wearing Joker talk you down!" Sonic shouted
"S-Sonic! I'm doing my absolute best! I won't fail you Master, I swear on it!" Mash replied
"Stay focused!"
Moments later, Caster charges at Mash and strikes her several time while she was distracted and blast her with his staff.
"GHHAK!" Mash cried out stumbling back and falling on one knee
"Hang on bud!" Sonic running over to Mash to help her up
"You disappoint me kid. I see a lot of potential in you, but you're not really trying... It doesn't matter now, yu can think about that when you're not burning to a crisp with Blue boy here! My spell is the coffin of flames, a giant of verdant thorn. Retribution, a shrine that will purify human misery... Befall the Wicker Man! And behold, as both good and evil bit the dust!"
Moments later, Caster fires a powerful ball of fire towards Mash, Sonic, and Olga.
"Ah... Ah.."
"I... I can't fall here... Sonic risked his life to save me... I can't just waste it and get us all killed... I have to fight... I have to fight and protect my Master!"
"AAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH-!"
Moments later, Mash slams her shield down as a large barrier protects herself, Sonic, and Olga from the raging flames.
"Mash... could this be what I think it is?!" Sonic said
"Oh... I... Did I, manage to unleash my Noble... Phantasm... I-I... I actually did it! I just... I just felt the desire and need to protect Master no matter what and it just... came out!" Mash shocked
"HAHAHAHA! Not bad kid, not bad at all! Whew, I knew you'd survive that. But I never thought both you an your Master would walk out without a scratch. Be happy, wait no... Praise her, blue boy. That young lady saved your blue furred butt and she, without question, is a first-rate Heroic Spirit." Caster said
"Senpai, D-Did I do a good job? I wanted to be useful to you, so I gave it everything I had!" Mash said
"Mash, you did it! You actually did it! You finally unleashed your Noble Phantasm that you've always wanted! I'm so happy for you!" Sonic running up to Mash and giving her a big hug
"T-Thank you so much, Master! Thank you! I'll continue to do my absolute best to support you!" Mash hugging Sonic back
"Fou, fooooouuuuu! (I'm so proud of you Mash! Very good job!)" Fou said
"That was surprising. I didn't expect her to unleash her Noble Phantasm that soon. Mash was never someone with a strong will..." Romani said
"I disagree with that Romani. I always knew deep inside her heart, she's was a strong person who would do anything to protect her friends. She just needed time to grow and now she's finally showing her true self to the world. And I can't be anymore happy for her." Sonic said
"Just as blue boy said, you got her all wrong. You may call the young lady here, protector. There's no point in teaching a bird to swim, is there? You have to teach a bird how to fly high. Although... She didn't get to obtain its True Name." Caster said
"To have your very wish to unleash your Noble Phantasm granted for you, even inexperienced, is quite inspiring. You should be proud of that ability and learn to wield it well." Olga praising Mash
"Thank you Director. But... even though I can unleash my Noble Phantasm now, I still don't know its True Name, nor the True Name of the Heroic Spirit." Mash said
"Well no use worrying too much about it. How about instead, we give your new fancy attack a new name for the time being? How about, Kyrielight Blocker?" Sonic suggested
"Surely you can come up with something much more creative that that. Hmm... This is a pseudo-deloyment of a Noble Phantasm, so... How about "Lord Chaldeas?" Chaldea holds a great significance to you, so it would make the spell to use." Olga giving Mash a name for her Noble Phantasm
"Lord Chaldeas..." I like it... Thank you Director! I feel a lot more confident in my abilities now! I'll be able to protect Sonic better the way!"
"Lord Chaldeas... Yes, I like it. That fits you perfectly, Mash! And the desire to try it out after getting it is only human nature. Caster, would be Mash's sparring partner?" Romani asks
"Yes, of course. I was holding back before, but even, so, her defense was impeccable. As someone with more experience, I'll hammer the basics of Noble Phantasms into your head. Blue boy, young lady, are you ready?"
"Yes, please!" Mash said
"Ready when you are!" Sonic said
Caster begins their spar by firing energy balls towards Sonic and Mash. Mash get's in front of Sonic and blocks Caster's oncoming attacks easily. Sonic then jumps over Mash and performs a homing attack right at Caster. Caster quickly dodges it as Sonic hit's the ground instead. Caster soon after fires flames right towards Sonic, Sonic notices the oncoming flames coming towards him, but instead of moving out of the way to avoid them as usual. He just stands still as the flames pass through his body and all hit the ground behind him and exploding. Caster notices what just happened and continues to fire more flames toward Sonic. But before he could even shoot a single flame, Sonic lunges toward Caster and performs a spin dash towards him, knocking him away from him. Soon after getting hit by Sonic, Mash comes running up to Caster and slams him with her shield and knocks him away and hitting a light post. Caster slowly looks up as both Mash and Sonic were charging towards him in full speed. Caster fires more flames at the two but both manage to either dodge or block the flames from hitting them. Soon after, Mash jumps into the air and slams her shield down at Caster hard while Sonic performs a round house kick towards Caster's face and knock's him to the ground.
"N-Not bad you... Not bad." Caster said
"We did it Master! Another victory for us." Mash
"We sure did, Mash. Good job. Well that was a fun warm up. Now come on, let's get take down Archer, Berserker, and Saber with ease!" Sonic said
"Good idea." Caster said
