Orleans (Part 9)
*The Battle Is Upon Us*
"As predicted it's swarming with wyverns. Still, we can't afford any delays. Sonic, take care of them as fast as you can with your tornado move." Romani said
"With pleasure," Sonic replied
"Master, take care of the enemies! Hurry, we don't have much time!" Mash said
"You got it!" Sonic replied
Sonic runs towards the army of Wyverns and begins circling around them, building up a massive tornado that begins to suck in all the wyverns and spin around it inside. The wyverns inside the tornado smash into one another as they have no control of themselves from the powerful tornado. Moments later, Sonic stops running in circles as the tornado explodes and sends the army of wyverns far far away, never to be seen again.
"...I'm glad that wasn't us..." Elizabeth commented
"Tell me about it..." Kiyohime replied
"They're still coming!" Amadeus shouted
"Will take of these guys!" Siegfried said
Siegfried charges at the two skeletons and swings his sword at them, cutting them in half instantly and vanishing away soon after. Two wyverns appear and dive straight down Siegfried until Amaedus fires projectiles towards the wyverns that explode on impact and knock them back away from Siegfried. Moments later, Elizabeth rushes in towards the wyverns as she jumps right at them and unleashes several strikes at them with her spear around their bodies and leaves scratch marks before stabbing one of them in the heart before vanishing away. The second wyvern roars and attempts to attack Elizabeth until Mash slams her shield right at the wyvern's head and slams it to the ground where it shatters the wyvern's skull inside before vanishing away.
"Servant detected! They're coming straight for you... it's our enemies!" Romani shouted
"I'll kill you... I'll kill you all! Every last one of you, shatter before my bow!" Berserk Archer shouted
"Whoa... what's gotten into you? We just met and you already want to kill us?" Sonic said
"Archer... He's been forced under Madness Enhancement as well!" Jeanne said
"He must be the type of Servant who'd never serve the Dragon Witch," Georgios said
"It can't be helped! I'm taking him out!" Mash said
"I'll deal with him first!" Sonic said
Moments later, Sonic rushes in at Berserk Archer in high speed. Berserk Archer notices Sonic and quickly dodges him before aiming his bow at him and firing several arrows at Sonic. Sonic looks and notices several arrows coming down towards him and dodges each arrow that was aiming at him and sticks onto the ground. Sonic lunges at Berserk Archer and swings at him multiple times with his sword. However, Berserk Archer dodges and evades each of Sonic's attacks and hits him with his bow on his stomach, knocking him back away from Berserk Archer. Sonic, with an angry look on his face, quickly gets up and rushes in towards Berserk Archer and swings his sword faster several times towards Berserk Archer. Berserk Archer again dodges each of Sonic's attacks and counters back by deflecting one Sonic's sword swings and knees Sonic in the chin and sends him into the air. Berserk Archer aims his bow at Sonic and was to fire arrows at Sonic until Mash rushes over and slams her shield right at Berserk Archer, disrupting him from shooting the arrows and pushing him aside. Sonic lands back on his feet beside Mash as Berserk Archer begins circling around Mash and Sonic at incredible speed.
"Master... this Servant is as fast as you!" Mash said
"Pfft... you call this fast?" Sonic replied
Moments later, Sonic begins circling around Berserk Archer even faster than him and attacks him from all angles around him. Berserk Archer, although fast himself, couldn't keep up with Sonic and mostly got hit everywhere in all angles from Sonic before getting hit on the head by an overhead ax kick and dropping him to the ground. Soon after, Sonic curls himself into a ball and spin dashes right on top of Berserk Archer and throws him away soon after.
"...This is fine. This is fine. Really, what a troublesome and unrewarding job. Go, and take own that dragon. Yes, next time for sure, I..."
Berserk Archer vanishes away soon after.
"Berserk Archer's elimination is confirmed. I am getting a reading of an ultra-size lifeform! Fafnir left Orleans. In other words... The showdowns are about to begin!" Romani shouted
"Alright, everyone! Stand your ground and take down Fafnir! No excuses!" Sonic said
"Hello, trash I left behind." Jeanne Alter said
"...No, I am a vestige. Most importantly, I'm not you Dragon Witch." Jeanne replied
"But you are me. What are you talking about?"
"...No matter what I say, I can no longer reach you. After this battle is over, I'm, going to give you an earful!" Jeanne shouted
"Silence! Behold these dragons! Behold this horde of dragons! We have turned this nation into a nest of dragons! They will devour everything, and nothing will ever live in France again! then this world will be complete. Then this world will be destroyed. The dragons will fight one another for eternity. Endless wars. Endless devouring. That will be the true Hundred Years' War... A Hundred Years War of Evil Dragon!"
All of sudden, a cannonball hits Jeanne ALter's dragon and is engulfed in flames.
"What!"
"What just happened?!" Sonic surprise
"...Gilles!"
"Fire! We fight for the survival of France! Fire everything we have! Fire! Fire! Do not be afraid! Do not sorrow! Do not falter! If you have human blood, now is the time to die! I will say it again! There is nothing to fear! For we... "For we have the Saint on our side!" Gilles shouted
All soldiers roared, ready to fight.
"...Gilles!" Jeanne happy
"Looks like the soldiers are finally in our side. Welcome to the team, everyone!" Sonic said
"Hmph, such stubborn belief. It makes me want to vomit. Fafnir! Incinerate that Saint, that army, this nation! Burn everything to the ground!" Jeanne Alter shouted
"Hah. I never thought I'd see you a third time. Perhaps, in another time or another world, we could've been connected in another way..." Siegfried said
"Siegfried!"
"Fafnir! I am here wicked dragon! I, Siegfried, am right here! Once again, you shall taste the twilight. I swear by my righteousness, and by my beliefs!" Siegfried shouted
Fafnir roars at Siegfried, ready to battle.
"Come forth my Servants!" Jeanne Alter commanded
"Hey you guys, good to see you doing well! I am Chevalier d'Eon. This time I lend my blade to evil... but it remains as pure as ever. Now, fight me with all you have! End this nightmare!" Berserk Saber said
"...So you came, huh? There's no shame in becoming fallen. Defeat is the greatest shame of all. I've become a mere puppet in the search for the Grail. I am praised as the immortal vampire. Fiction or not, it is all I have left." Berserk Lancer said
"Fighting alongside evil is pretty lame, to be honest. I'll make you a deal, if we beat you, you'll have to fight alongside the good side. Simple, huh?" Sonic said
"Now's not the time, Master, they're coming! The French army is holding off the wyverns! This is it!" Mash shouted
"Now then, everyone! Let's do this!" Sonic shouted
"Right! We'll achieve victory together!"
Moments later, Berserk Saber lunges at Sonic and swings her sword at him several times but Sonic dodges each swing from Berserk Saber quickly. While dodging Berserk Saber's attacks, without any warning, Sonic appears behind Berserk Saber and does a backwards roundhouse kick at Berserk Saber's head and knocks her away from him. It turns out Berserk Saber was fighting Sonic's after images. Moments later, Sonic curls himself into a ball and spin dashes toward Berserk Saber. Berserk Saber notices Sonic heading right towards her and quickly rolls aside as Sonic zooms past by her and stops himself soon after. Berserk Saber quickly gets up from the ground and was about to charge at Sonic until Elizabeth comes rushing and attacks Berserk Saber with her spear. Berserk Saber dodges Elizabeth's attack quickly as both begin clanging weapons over and over, trying to hit one another at least once. As the two were battling each other, Mash rushes behind Sonic as Sonic curls into a ball and starts charging up in a Spin Dash position and spinning rapidly. As he charges up faster and faster, sparks begin to light up behind Sonic. Sonic quickly jumps in the air while still curled into a ball as Mash slams her shield right at Sonic and launches him straight towards Berserk Saber. Berserk Saber notices Sonic heading towards her at high speed and attempts to avoid it but it was too late as Sonic hits Berserk Saber right in the face and knocks her down to the ground in full force. Sonic uncurls himself and skids on the ground, stopping himself from moving. As he landed back down, Berserk Lancer appears behind Sonic and attempts to attack Sonic with his spear but Siegfried jumps in front of SOnic and blocks Berserk Lancer's attack from hitting Sonic. Siegfried soon begins swinging his sword several times at Berserk Lancer but Lancer blocks each of Siegfried's attacks and teleports away soon after. Moments later, Siegfried appears behind Berserk Lancer and attacks Siegfried from behind but Jeanne lunges in and attacks Berserk Lancer from the side with several strikes with her spear. Berserk Lancer didn't notice her and gets hit by her weapon several times across his body. Moments later, Jeane stabs Berserk Lancer in the stomach and kicks him back away from her. Berserk Lancer stops himself from going farther but Sonic appears right behind Berserk Lancer as he performs an overhead axe kick at Berserk Lancer's head and drops him to the ground hard.
"... We've lost. Now my curse will be broken. Thank you all. Especially you... blue. Apologies to my beloved queen. I'm so sorry, my queen. Please forgive my mistake..."
"*Quickly runs up to Berserk Saber and holds her hands* Please wait for me, I'll make sure you'll be reunited once again with her. I promise." Sonic promised
"*Looks at Sonic and smiles* Thank you, I'll be waiting for you to make that dream come true... Master." Berserk Saber said before vanishing
"Is it over now? My dreams, my ambitions will once again be erased? Hmph, who knew I'd deal with a "Dragon Slayer" again? How ironic. I see. So they were right, I am Dracul, the devil. It must be my destiny to fall in the presence of a Servant who slew devils and dragons. Very well, I will allow it. You, the Blue Master over there. You are a fighter who does not lose sight of yourself amidst the battle. Next time, summon me and I will gladly fight alongside you now. Then I will show you the true power of my lace. The lance that defended a nation... the weapons that defended my people... In your hands, they will shine." Berserk Lancer said
"*Gives Thumbs up to Berserk Lancer* You got it, dude! I promise I will summon you and finally fight alongside the good side!" Sonic promises
Moments later, Berserk Lance vanishes away.
*Several Minutes Later*
"(Pant, pant, pant)..."
"Ahhh... Augh...augh!"
"I can't believe this, I was here fighting random enemies and the one I despise the most showed up. Hey executioner, from the looks of it I guess Maria turned you down?"
"Ama...deus? Aaaaaamaaaaaaadeeeeeeeuuuuuuuuus!"
"Mmm, why are you so fired up? Don't tell me Maria said something she shouldn't have. For example, maybe... Although we are both scums, she said I am 100 times better. Something like that?" Amadeus replied
"Hah... Ah., ah... Shu...t up. Shut up, Amadeus! I won't let you beat me! You're the one man I'll never lose to!" Sanson shouted
All of a sudden, the dark energy flowing around Sanson vanishes away.
"...Whoa! Wait, did that give him back his sanity? Jeez... I guess I should've kept my mouth shut. But... this makes things worth doing. Charles-Henri Sanson, are you ready for me to take my frustration out on you? I've actually got some energy for once. Enough energy to play an extra song on the piano." Amadeus asks
"Whatever, I'll chop your fingers off. Do you know something, Amadeus? I always hated you Requiem! The way it turned death into mere music!" Sanson replied
"Tsk, this is the problem with gloomy muscleheads! Damn, his intensity's overwhelming! Sorry, help me out, Master! This is my last gift for Maria, let me make it a good one!"
"You got it! Here I come!" Sonic said
Sonic curls into a ball as he homing attacks right at Sanson. Sanson grabs his sword and swings it towards Sonic. However, Sonic dodges the attack as he uncurls himself and extends his foot forwards, and delivers a number of rapid kicks towards Sanson, ending with a strong finisher and throwing Sanson away from him and hitting the ground. Sanson quickly gets back up and runs towards Sonic and delivers several swings at Sonic. Sonic evades each swing coming towards him and quickly takes his sword out of the scabbard and swings it right at Sanson, deflecting him away from Sonic and countering back with a series of sword strikes while dashing forward towards Sanson. Sanson blocks each of Sonic sword strikes, barely getting hit by them, and jumps away from him soon after. Moments later, Amadeus fires projectiles at Sanson but Sanson manages to stop them with his sword and deflects them to the air where they all explode. After deflecting all the projectiles away from him, Sonic lunges back at Sanson and delivers a combo of super fast sword slashes around Sanson's body, who couldn't block any of the attacks because of the speed, and throws him away from him soon after. Sanson attempts to get back up on his foot to continue the fight but Sonic, jumps right at him and delivers a roundhouse kick at the face, and knocks on the floor hard. Defeating Sanson down.
"I'm sorry I had to do this..." Sonic said
"Ha... I see. So I'm going down to you? Then... The evil one is me, no question about it. Justice is on your side. Just like the last time, the queen smiled... as she took in the witch's flames. Not with resignation, but with hope. May blessings be upon you and... sorry." Sanson said before vanishing away
"Apology accepted," Sonic replied
"You idiot, you actually cared whose side justice is on? How gloomy. This is why we need to get rid of jobs where you do nothing but kill people all day Bye Sanson, next time I see you, I'll play my Requiem until you're sick of it. I mean, you're actually a huge fan of the song aren't you?" Amadeus said
Currently, Elizabeth and Berserk Assassin were both duking it out at one another. Slamming their weapons at each other, causing small shockwaves.
"Why, you! Why you, why you, why you!"
"This is... quite irritating. This "me."
"Right back at you! How did you get to be a Servant?" Elizabeth asks
"Never thought you'd say that. From where I sit, it's far more maddening to see that I've become a Servant as myself! I'm a reversed countess, feared by all. The finished product. I'm not like an unfinished product like you. I devoured fear and became an Anti-Hero. But what about you? You devoured the existence that is me. You simply refused to age and feared being sealed away. Of course, you did. From your perspective, I'm just a sign of your sin. The guilt you bright upon yourself, the unassailable record of your murders!" Carmilla asks
"...that's right. You are who I really am, my final destination. The symbol of my sin, that no tears will ever change. Denying you means looking away from the crimes I've committed. But that doesn't mean I can't take responsibility! It may be ugly self-deception, but I'll say it anyway! I... I don't want to be like you!" Elizabeth shouted
"How foolish, we're spirits of the past. The future's already been decided."
"I know that! But I'm saying it anyway! Help me, little blue! You may be a step down from the Master I dream of, but you're still first-rate! Please, let's settle things with her! Let me sing with everything I have!" Elizabeth said
"You got it, Elizabeth! Let's take down her!" Sonic replied
Moments later, both Sonic and Elizabeth lunge towards Berserk Assassin. Berserk Assassin fires projectiles right at both of them but Elizabeth deflects the projectiles back with her spear as they instead hit Berserk Assassin, exploding on impact. Sonic curls into a ball and homing attacks right at Berserk Assassin in the face knocking her back from both of them. Berserk Assassin stops herself from falling to the ground as she continues firing more dark energy projectiles at Sonic and Elizabeth. Using Hyper Senses, Sonic runs through each projectile that was aiming towards him, lunges right at Berserk Assassin, and performs a somersault bicycle kick right at Berserk Assassin's chin, throwing her in the air. Elizabeth jumps right at Berserk Assassin soon after and strikes her several times with her spear before striking her one last time, sending her falling down and to the ground. Moments later, Berserk Assassin attempts to heal herself with her staff but Sonic disrupts it by kicking Berserk Assassin's staff away from her and was about to finish her off but Sonic stops when he heard something he didn't expect to hear from Berserk Assassin.
"Such skills coming from you... I can't challenge myself against someone as powerful as you... so... I surrender." Carmilla said
"O-Oh... I-I didn't expect to hear anything like that before... Well... In that case *picks up Carmilla from the ground and gives her staff back to her* Sorry for being arrogant as usual..." Sonic replied
"The future doesn't reject the past, but rather, the past rejects the future? Such drivel coming out of your mouth! But that's why... You're so dazzling, it's annoying. Let me return to the darkness. That last instant... That light... that I saw between the bricks. That's right... Whether I live or die, I... am always alone..." Carmilla said
"W-Wait! Maybe I could hel- *Couldn't finish as Carmilla vanishes away* man... why does everything get so sad every time I defeat these Servants? These guys aren't evil at all... they just want something that they want." Sonic said
"It's okay, Master. Maybe you can try summoning her as well once we return once to Chaldea." Mash said
"...Farewell, my future. Farewell, the part of myself so sad I had to separate. This will not lessen my sins, nor the fear others feel towards me. I... will deny the future as many times as I must, and sing as many times as I must." Elizabeth said
Fafnir roars at the group, ready to fight.
"After multiple obstacles, we're finally here. Good work, Master. And Mash Kyrielight. We're almost at the evil dragon. Confronting it like this... I must confess. I don't know how I won the first time." Siegfried said
"Hey! Don't say stuff like that now!" Mash said
"There's just one thing inscribed in my memory. My victory was not a certain one. It was a single, tiny sliver of a chance, surrounded by a million defeats. Plan carefully, move bodly, keep a broad perspective, and focus deeply upon a single point. Be like the sea, the sky, the darkness, the light. Contradict thyself. Unless you do that, there is no way you can defeat Fafnir." Siegfried said
"I-I understand! I'll do what I can!"
"Oh, Master. ...Are you ready?"
"Ready as usual," Sonic replied
"Heh. It's an honor to have such a Master who isn't afraid of anything." Siegfried said
Fafnir roars once more towards the group.
"Return to earth once more, wicked dragon!"
"Let's go!" Sonic said
Moments later, Sonic and Siegfried lunge towards Fafnir at full speed. Fafnir notices both running toward him as he raises up his hand slams it on the ground, causing the ground to shake violently and creating a shockwave that was heading towards both of them. Sonic and Siegfried quickly jump over the shockwave as Sonic lunges towards Fafnir with his sword extended and stabs Fafnir on the chest. Siegfried jumps right at Fafnir's face and begins swinging his sword at Fafnir multiple times at its face before unleashing a powerful sword slash and jumping back away from him. Sonic also jumps back as Fafnir roars and slams his hands on the ground once again, creating a bigger shockwave and heading towards Sonic and Siegfried. Siegfried grabs Sonic's arm and throws him over the shockwave as Siegfried gets hit by the shockwave and knocks him back away from Fafnir. Sonic looks at Fafnir as he charges up his sword and homes up to Fafnir at incredible speeds and delivers a hasted combo of lightning fast and strong slashes with his sword. At the end of the fast attack, the force from the attack throws Fafnir away from Sonic and the group, leaving many scratch marks around Fafnir. Fafnir roars in pain as it charges at Sonic until Mash rushes in and blocks Fafnir's attack from hitting Sonic. Moments later, Siegfried rushes pass Sonic and Mash as Siegfried jumps right at Fafnir's face and stabs his sword right at Fafnir's eyes as it roared in pain. Secondly, Sonic jumps on Mash's shield as he boosted himself up towards Fafnir's face and stab's his sword right at Fafnir's other, causing it to roar in pain louder. Moments later, Siegfried and Sonic both take out their swords from Fafnir's eyes as both charge their swords and swing at Fafnir's neck at the same time, cutting its head off its body and falling right next to Jeanne Alter before vanishing away.
"Impossible!" Jeanne Alter shouted
"...We've defeated it!" Siegfried said
"Conforming Fafnir's complete silence! Amazing, a new Dragon Slayer has been born!" Romani said
"Look! The wyverns are in a panic!" Mash said
"They must be confused because Fafnir, their commander, got taken out."
"A job well-done everyone, but the battle isn't fully won yet," Sonic said
"...Ugh!"
"Come back, Jeanne!" Gilles said
"Gilles!"
"...Gilles?"
"First, let's get back to this prison castle! We need to regroup."
"...Understood."
"Oh no, you don't!" Sonic said
"Wait!"
