*Let's Continue Where We Left Off*
A couple of hours later, after fighting off hoards of Roman Soldiers and Caligula. Nero leads Sonic and his team to their next destination which is the Capital. The Capital was filled with civilization, beautiful buildings in all directions, markets, kids playing around with each other, soldiers walking around protecting the Capital.
"*Looking around his surroundings* So this the Capital, huh? I gotta say, It's nice to see people enjoying themselves on a calm day. For the most part..." Sonic commented
"You said it yourself, Sonic! Take a good look and be struck with awe! This is my city, a glorious regime that even young girls extol!" Nero said
"It is beautiful I would say. However, just like anytime I visit a new place. I get stares from people who have never seen a Blue talking Hedgehog." Sonic replied
"Don't worry, everyone will soon figure out that you are not our enemy and innocent. After all, this is the greatest city in the world! First, there was Septem Montes... Such words existed like so. And that's where it all started. Our glorious history began with our divine ancestors and those hills. *Turns And Notices A Shop Right Next To Them* And... Hey, shopkeeper, I'm taking one of these apples. *Grabs A Few Apples.*" Nero said
"Welcome to my... Oh! Your Majesty! Please, take as you wish. Glory to the Emperor and Rome!" The Shopkeeper said
"Shopkeeper, you don't have to be so stiff. *Takes A Bite Off The Apple* Yes, yes, this is a delicious apple. *Looks Back At The Five* Why don't you take one as well? We're returning from war, so no need to worry about bad manners. Sweet fruit does wonders for battle fatigue. My wounds won't be healed, but my motivation will!" Nero suggests
"Oh, no thank you. But we appreciate the gesture..." Mash replied
"Then how about you four? They're delicious, don't be shy." Nero asks
"Sure thing, Nero. *Grabs The Apple From Nero And Takes A Bite Off The Apple* Wow, this is pretty good! I'll buy some from the Shopkeeper. *Looks At The Shopkeeper* Good day sir, how much will a few apples be?" Sonic munching on the apple
"Please, take as many as you want as well kind sir! This is on the house!" The Shopkeeper replied
"Oh, well, Thank you, sir! *Grabs A Couple Apples* Hey you guys, catch! *Throws The Apples Towards Martha, Kiyohime, and Medusa.*"
The three notice the apples coming right towards them and all grab them soon after before taking a bite off the apples.
"*Chewing On The Apple* Mmm... very sweet and delicious! I'm enjoying this, Master!" Kiyohime said
"Taraques would love a batch of these apples!" Martha said
"Such a delicious treat," Medusa said
"*Looks Down At Fou Who Was Just Starring Up At Sonic* Would you like some as well, pal?" Sonic asks
"Fou! Fou! (That would be quite delightful!)" Fou replied
"Alright then, one apple coming up! *Grabs Another Apple As He Breaks The Apple Into Two Pieces And Gives It Fou* Enjoy it!" Sonic said
"*Begins To Eat The Apple* Fou! Fou! (Very tasty!)" Fou said
"Glad you like it." Sonic replied
"Indeed, a wonderful apple Yes. Once again, I like you and your personality. Honestly, I still can't conclude how a talking animal exists... But I can tell that you are a kind and honest one. Especially when it comes to you and your Servants. You treat your Servants nicer than any other Master." Nero said
"I appreciate those words, Nero. However, I would say that I'm just a Hedgehog who doesn't like taking advantage of others for my own will. That's not my thing." Sonic replied
"It's a relief to hear you say that, Emperor Nero. It might be best to think of us as a mage and his pupils." Romani said
"Is that so? Then let us forget this confusing talk of Masters and Servants. You are the mage's pupils, and the mage speaks from a distant land. And? You also said your goal... is to aide me?" Nero asks
"Yes. You aren't wrong about that." Mash replied
"The center of the world, and the world itself. The name of the greatest empire that rules the world is Rome. In this era, there should be no threat to the city. The Grail's influence must be so upsetting events. If I am right, this era's singularity is probably the existence of the great Roman Empire. An empire that greatly influenced later generations. Stopping its destruction would fix the singularity." Romani said
"...Mm, Mm Mm... S-Sorry, I don't quite understand. Please speak a bit more in my range of understanding." Nero replied
"Sorry, he can be a bit too theoretical... I'll explain. We seek something called the Holy Grail, a magical item with special powers. It's causing a great many disturbances just by being here. The odds are great that the Grail is the problem eating away at Rome now." Mash explaining
"...I see. This Holy Grail is damaging my Rome." Nero said
"Yes. It must sound astounding to you..."
"No, neither strange nor weird. This Holy Grail. It strangely... Worries me... Never mind a needless concern of mine. It's just a nightmare I had once. Right. Come with me, let's take freely in my home. ...Wait, what? Is there something wrong at the market?" Nero confuse
The six turn and notice the Shopkeeper being ambushed
"H-Hey! What's this! What are you people doing to my shop!" The Shopkeeper shouted
"Fou?! (Is this a robbery?!)" Fou said
"How dare you do this to my Rome, and my people! Are they enemy spies? Either way, it's unforgivable!" Nero ready for combat
"...Senpai, we should go too! The townsfolk are being attacked!" Mash said
"Let's do this, everyone! But try not to kill anyone this time." Sonic said
"Right!"
The six begin charging at the thugs that were trying to rob the shopkeeper's store. The thugs turn and notice the six heading towards them. Two thugs both grab their weapons and charge towards the six as well. The first thug lunges at Sonic and swings their dagger at him but Sonic crouches underneath the attack and easily dodges it. Moments later, Sonic performs a leg sweep that kicks the thug off his balance and falls to the ground, letting go of his dagger as soon as he fell. The second thug attempts to attack Sonic by stabbing him with their spear but a weapon sweeps in and ties itself around the spear with its chains, stopping the thug from attacking Sonic. The thug turns and notices Medusa pulling the chains towards her and throwing the spear away from the thug as the spears lands behind Medusa. Seconds later, Kiyohime fires a few fireballs at the thug that directly hits them and drops him on the ground as well. The two of them try to get back up and attempt to run away but Mash and Nero both grab each thug and throw them into the air where Nero jumps at one of them and swings her sword at them several times before throwing them back down and out cold. Soon after, Mash jumps at the second thug and slams her shield on their backs, dropping them to the ground where their backs broke and lay on the ground motionless. Soon after, three more thugs rush towards them but Martha fires projectiles at the three which explode on impact and knocks the thugs away from them.
"And once again... The day is saved," Sonic commented
"Now then, shall we get going?" Nero asks
"Fine by me," Mash replied
The six begin to walk as they made their way to Nero's house that was not far from them.
*Nero's Home*
After defeating the thugs causing a commotion at the Capital, the six make it to Nero's home
"Now then. My Rome is currently endangered. My great empire's territories are now, vexingly enough, ripped apart and scattered all over. On one hand, there is the true Roman Empire that I rule over. The area centred around this capital, Rome. On the other hand, there is an alliance controlled by multiple "emperors, that suddenly appeared out of nowhere. The United Roman Empire. That's what they called themselves they stole half of my empire. The United Empire is still a mystery to us. No matter how many scouts we send out, none ever return. Even the location of the capital where these fake emperors gather is unknown to us." Nero explaining
"Multiple emperors, you say?" Mash asks
"That's right. In my eyes, they're just a group of treacherous bandits. And... No, it's not worth mentioning. Just rebels spreading their vicious lies. They call themselves emperors, but they're just pretenders." Nero said
"*Noticing Nero Looking A Bit Down* Is something wrong, Nero? You don't look too well." Sonic asks
"Sonic, you saw one of them before. Caligula, the enemy general. The man who singlehandedly slaughtered my forces before you. arrived. He's one of the traitors who calls himself "emperor." As well as being... my uncle." Nero said
"Shouldn't he be dead already?" Romani asks
"Yes, dear formless mage. That is correct. Even our Court Mage was killed by Uncle Caligula, but if he was still alive, you might have gotten along well. Our mage boasted that he had overcome death. In truth, he showed me some impressive spells. But... He was killed by that one "emperor's" sword. A master of spells who shouldn't have died yet died easily. It shouldn't be possible, yet he did." Nero replied
"To easily beat a mage of this era... That's no ordinary human. It's a Servant." Romani said
"That must be causing the historical anomaly. One of the "emperors" got hold of the Grail." Mash said
"That is likely the cause of this era's singularity," Romani replied
"Honestly, the United Empire is very strong. Violent battles are occurring all over and the people suffer. I've dispatched all my serving viceroys and generals, and thrown nearly every troop at them. Yet the United Empire's power is undiminished. Recently, an expeditionary force of theirs pressed in on the capital. They even managed to get inside. I only had a few of my troops to defend us. I hate to say it... Bu tit showed me that this situation is beyond my ability to break by myself. Therefore. I order you, no, I implore you! Become my generals! Then Rome and I shall assist you in obtaining this Holy Grail!" Nero said
"Such a heaven-sent proposal. It seems we have a common cause."
"That's right. What do you think, Senpai?" Mash said
Sonic looks at Martha, Kiyohime, and Medusa as they all gave him smiles.
"Hehe, "*Gives A Thumbs Up* I officially welcome you to the team, Nero!" Sonic replied
"Ah, I see! I see! That's a quick response! I shall grant one of you the title of viceroy, as well as a reward for the work you've already done." Nero said
"It's okay, you don't have to award us. We're just doing our job of protecting others and that's it." Sonic replied
"You are one of a kind, Sonic. Many people would be inspired by your personality and your dedication to fighting without asking for something in return. I truly admire that. Anyway, rest well all of you. I shall prepare quarters suitable for a victory for you. Oh yes, will the invisible mage require them as well?" Nero asks
"Don't worry about me. Supplying a room for these five will be enough. By the way, Your Majesty, have you ever heard the name Leff Lynor?" Romani said
...Leff? No, I haven't, who is he?" Nero replied
"A mage of our era. He betrayed Chaldea and all humanity. There's a chance he's in this era. Although, I don't know if he's revealed himself or taken any action." Mash said
"A mage from a foreign land? Mhm... I've heard there is a powerful mage in the United Empire. It's only a rumour, but someone like that mage on the front lines." Nero replied
"...It's possible. Your Majesty, I have a request." Romani said
"Speak."
"I'd like Mash, Sonic, and his Servants to be deployed as close to the front lines as possible." Romani request
"I don't see no problem with that at all. I see Sonic as an extremely useful ally who's capable of taking down our enemies in a second." Nero replied
"I agree with that, Leff Lynor is our enemy," Mash said
"*Making A Fist* He would pay for what he did to your world and what he did to Olga," Sonic said
"...Yes, Master."
"Very well. Nero Claudius will honour your request. I shall pray to the gods and divine ancestors of Rome that your enemy is defeated. But first, how about a feat before you rest! Not as grand as usual due to the war, but it will still be a feast where I spare no efforts. Sonic, Mash, Sonic's friends, do any of you drink? We have something special imported from the Orient!"
"I don't drink... I'm not that kind of person. But thanks for the offer anyway." Sonic replied
"Oh, uh, no drinking for me, thanks..." Mash replied
"I prefer not to drink as of now," Martha replied
"I'll pass, for now, thank you," Kiyohime replied
"...Do you know what tastes like..." Medusa asks
"*Quickly Rushes In*, Your Majesty! The eastern city gate is under attack by a mid-size United Empire force! I think they're remnants of that expeditionary force! Our eastern gate can't hold them back!"
"...Grr. Just as I was about to have a rare pleasant feast."
"Go you all. Looks like your time has come. It won't unusual if another Servant shows up as an enemy general. Stay on guard!" Romani said
"Understood. Senpai, shall we?"
"Let's go, everyone!" Sonic said
"I'm counting on you Viceroy Sonic. Show those skills you demonstrated before! The feast can wait! We'll look forward to it!" Nero commanded
*Outside*
The five ran as fast as they can towards the eastern gate with their weapons ready to fight off the enemies.
"You're facing human forces, not Servants or monsters. Take it easy on them." Romani said
"No problem. Time to teach guys a lesson!" Sonic replied
"S-Senpai... look!" Mash said
Sonic stops on his track, as well as the others as they notice something strange as soon as they made it towards the Eastern Gate. The five noticed the Soldiers were all defeated easily as some were on the ground, motionless while others were turned to a pile of ash on the ground. Sonic walks towards the soldiers as he analyzes the scene of the battle.
"What happened here?" Mash asks
"*Looking At The Pile Of Ashes Around Him* I... don't know, Mash. Kiyohime, did you do this? Did you fight them without telling us?" Sonic asks
"No, Master. I never left your side all this time. This fire is more different than what my attacks are." Kiyohime replied
"Who could've done this mess?" Martha said
"And why did they specifically attack the Soldiers and no one else?" Medusa questions
"Doctor, is there any sign of life around us?" Mash asks
"Let me see... *Looking For Signs Of Life* No way!" Romani shock
"What's wrong, Roman?" Sonic asks
"I've detected unknown life forms flying around the Capital at high speed!" Romani shock
"Unknown life forms...? Doctor, are they Monsters or Servants?" Mash asks
"They aren't any of those two. What are these unknown life forms? Where did they come from? I don't get it." Romani said
"Master, look!" Kiyohime said
Sonic and the others look up as they notice three white light colour trails flying around in light speed above the Capital. Not only that but behind the three white trails of light was a red colour trail following the three as well. The five watch as these unknown flying objects continue flying around the Capital at high speed and leaving colour trails behind them as well.
"What are those things?" Mash asks
"I don't know... but for some reason, I can feel some so of familiar energy going through my body," Sonic replied
"What do you mean? Do those flying things associate with you in some way?" Medusa asks
"I know we have a lot of questions we want answers to, but we have more enemy soldiers heading towards our way!" Romani said
The five look back and notice more enemy soldiers appearing and charging at them with their weapons drawn, ready to attack and attempt to enter the Capital.
"Will deal with those flying objects later. Right now, we have a Capital to defend, let's go!" Sonic said
Moments later, the five rush towards the enemy soldiers with their weapons ready. The first several soldiers aim their bows at the five and begin firing arrows at them. Mash quickly puts her shield forwards and blocks the oncoming arrows towards them as they hit Mash's shield and lose their momentum, falling to the ground soon after. Mash grabs Sonic's arm and throws him to the air where he curls into a ball and homing attacks each bow-wielding soldier and knocks each one to the ground. Medusa soon after rushes towards the soldiers and kicks them all once with a sweep kick, throwing them to the air where Martha and Kiyohime fire energy projectiles and fireballs at the Soldiers as they directly hit each one. Moments later, the soldiers fall and hit the ground hard as they lay motionless on the ground, out cold. Several more soldiers charge at Martha and Kiyohime as they were getting to attack them. Mash quickly gets in front of Martha and Kiyohime and extends her shield in front of them, ready to block the attacks. Suddenly, the Red and white colour trails that they saw just now zooms by the soldiers as some of them were thrown far as away and others were engulfed in flames. The soldiers engulfed in flames all yelled in pain, pain from the heat they never felt before. The three all watch as the soldiers' armour, skin, eyes, and hair all melt and turn to liquid on the ground. Sonic, Medusa, and The other soldiers all as well watch as the soldiers completely melted to the ground and were all shocked to see their comrades go down intensely.
"Oh my..." Sonic said
Seconds later, the unknown flying creatures zoom by again and attack more soldiers again as some were thrown away, while others again were engulfed in flames. The five all watch as the soldiers disappear and turn into ash in front of them.
"What is going on?!" Romani shock
"I-I don't know... I have never seen anything like this before..." Mash replied
"I-I'll be honest... I never felt extreme heat like this before." Kiyohime said
"It's almost as hot as the sun..." Martha said
"That's an understatement, Martha. It feels hotter than the sun..." Medusa replied
"*Thinks For A Little And Quickly Realizes What's Going* No way..." Sonic said
"What is it, Senpai?" Mash asks
"Don't tell me that this thing is associated with you, Sonic," Romani said
Moments later, all the soldiers that Sonic and his team fought were defeated as the four glowing balls appear in front of the five and just stood there without moving. Sonic slowly begins walking towards the glowing balls as he slowly raises his hand in front of him.
"S-Senpai!" Mash shouted
"-Master!"
"-Master!"
"-Master!"
Once Sonic got closer to the glowing balls and was about to touch one of them. The glowing balls all of a sudden begin to circle Sonic at high speed. Sonic just stares around as the glowing balls continue to circle while leaving colour trails behind him. Mash, Medusa, Martha, and Kiyohime all watch as they prepare their weapons just in case anything bad happens to Sonic. Moments later, the glowing circles stop spinning around as they stop in front of Sonic and just float.
"...It's great to see you again..." Sonic said
Moments later, the glowing dies down as these flying objects finally reveal who they were. These flying entities were alien-like creatures with big eyes and tentacles on them. The three white alien creatures have are a shape that of a sphere with three tentacles, one pink eye in the center of their heads, and two very alien-like antennae on top of their heads. The Red alien-like creature has a head that looks like a flaming teardrop, along with two small spikes at the top.
"What are those, Sonic?!" Romani shock
"These... These are my friends... These little guys assisted me on one of my adventures a while ago. They are also known as Wisps." Sonic replied
"Wisps..." Mash said
"&* &%!%" One of the White wisps said
"It's great to see you as well, pal. I never thought I'll see you again." Sonic replied
"Fou! Fou! (Blue was right! He can talk to anything that isn't normal for a normal human being!)" Fou said
"*Giggle*"
"*$%!*A!" The Red Wisps said
"Yea... I studied your language by using transcripts that we obtained from the past conversations we had. Now, I don't need some type of machine my buddy Tails designed to communicate with you " Sonic replied
"!*& !%&" A White Wisp said
"Oh, Tails isn't here with me right now. I'm currently here with my new best friends behind me!" Sonic replied
The wisps look behind Sonic noticing Kiyohime, Medusa, Martha, Mash, and Fou just staring back at them. The wisps soon after fly towards them as they just stare at them.
"H-Hello... My name is Mash. It's nice to meet you..." Mash said
"!#*$%" The White Wisp replied
"He said that it's nice to meet you as well, Mash." Sonic translated
"So you were the one who burn our enemies?" Kiyohime asks
"!* %#$!" The Red Wisp said
"He said that he went a little overboard and would like to apologize." Sonic translated
"*Giggle and Rubs The Red Wisp's Head* You don't need to apologize. It was quite the show you put on. You are such an adorable little creature. Almost as adorable as Master." Kiyohime said
"Y-Yea..." Sonic said
"*Rubbing The White Wisp's Head* You are just as adorable as Tarasque," Martha said
"*Blushing As One Of The White Wisp Flys Around Her In Circle* *Laughs* I'm glad you are enjoying yourself, little creature..." Martha said
"So... How did you guys even come here in the first place?" Sonic asks
"!#%!$?!" The white wisp said
"So you don't know, huh? *In Deep Thought*" Sonic said
"Senpai... what's wrong?"
"Give a second... *Still In Deep Thought* The portal that Egghead used to teleport me here goes way deeper than just trying to stop me from ruining his plans," Sonic said
" !*#!$! !" The Second Wisps said
"Not only that he wanted me gone from my world. But he also wanted everything that is associated with me gone as well. Like you four." Sonic said
" *#&$%&!"" The third wisps said
"So this person wanted you to get rid of you from your own home and sent you to our world? Not only that but things that are associated with you?" Romani asks
"That's correct. There could be other things that are spread across history. Like your other friends you four, I know if you are now here with us. Then the others might have been transported into different times in history." Sonic said
"Master, what is going on?" Martha asks
"Did do you say, "your home?" Kiyohime asks
"So you are not from here..." Medusa asks
"...It's a long story, I'll explain more in detail once we return to Chaldea. But for now, we have more enemies coming." Sonic replied
"Sonic's right! More enemies are heading our way! Sonic can explain himself to you guys later! Right now, we have some business to do!" Romani said
"R-Right!" Martha said
"You have some explaining to do later, Master," Medusa said
"Please don't lie about your background to me once you explain it to us, Master," Kiyohime said
"Got it!"
"&^#%&*A!"
Moments later, the group notice a large number of enemy soldiers coming right at them full speed with their weapons ready.
"Here they come! Stay focused, Senpai!" Mash said
"*Looks At The Wisps* You ready? For old time sakes?" Sonic asks
"*$ %!A"
Moments later, the four enter Sonic's body as a large pillar of light erupts from Sonic. The others cover their faces from being blinded by the bright light.
"What's going on?!" Mash said
"Fou! Fou! (Blue. What are you doing!)" Fou said
"*Covering Her Eyes* This light... I've never seen anything like this before..." Martha said
"*Blocking The Light With Her Hands* I can feel a strong presence from here..." Medusa said
"Sonic!" Romani shouted
Moments later, the light around Sonic dies down as everything calms down. MAsh and the others stop covering their eyes and notice that nothing happen to Sonic, as he was still in his normal state.
"S-Senpai... Are you alright?" Mash asks
"Do you feel anything strange?" Medusa asks
"*Looks At His And Makes A Fist* I feel all energized!" Sonic replied
Sonic quickly turns around and begins running right towards the large group of enemy soldiers at high speed. As he got closer to the enemy, the Red Wisp appears again from Sonic's body and enter's back inside as his entire body turns into a large version of his own head with no facial features except for his eyes, which do not have pupils and are yellow. His quills take the shape of flames, his ears become slightly curved, and he gains a stubby curved horn on his forehead. Moments later, the soldiers fire arrows and threw spears at Sonic. Sonic dodges all the oncoming projectiles and jumps above the soldiers as he charges up into a glowing ball. The soldiers were about to fire more arrows at Sonic until an explosion erupts soon after from Sonic as all the soldiers were turned to ash in just a second. Not a single soldier survived the explosion from Sonic's new but old form. MAsh and the others were shocked to see their Master easily defeat their enemy in a single explosion.
"What the hell?! Sonic!" Romani shock
"Senpai is hiding more than what he's telling..." Mash thought
"Doesn't that burn him? How is he able to withstand such extreme heat from his body?" Martha said
"...Master is full of surprises..." Medusa said
"Hehe... quite nice to see Master putting on a show for me! Truly magnificence!" Kiyohime said
Moments later, even more, enemy soldiers appear as they were all charging towards Sonic.
"Don't on just stand there! Let's have some fun!" Sonic shouted
"R-Right! Let's go, everyone!" Mash shouted
Mash and the others soon charge right at the enemies as well to help Sonic fend off the soldiers from invading the capital. For hours, the group defeated tons of enemy soldiers with no little to much effort.
*Night Time*
After hours of fighting against the enemy soldiers and finishing them off group by group. The soldiers decided to retreat and run away from the five, who were left unharmed from the whole ordeal. The five of them watch as the remaining soldiers spet off to the dark and do not look back a single time.
"...Whew. The enemy is retreating. There didn't seem to be any Servants amount them. they were all human soldiers." Mash said
"*Stretching Body* Man, what a day... Couldn't have done it without our new companions!" Sonic said
"No mages that could be Leff, huh? Anyway, good job. it's gotten dark."
"Let's head back, Senpai. If there's a night raid, we'll be in for another battle. You should rest this time. You didn't even sleep at all before we got here." Mash said
"Wait what?!" Romani shock
"It's okay, Mash. I'm not as tired as you think." Sonic replied
"Sonic... it's dangerous for you not to have any sleep at all. Your magical energy and stamina can affect you if you don't rest!" Romani said
"You don't have to worry about me, Roman. It's gonna take more than magical energy affecting a Hedgehog like me! Besides, I'm no ordinary person like those soldiers we just fought." Sonic replied
"...I guess so... Well then, I'll be heading back to my room and sleep. I have to check Magi Mari's blog too. She should've updated her diary by now..." Romani said
"Umm... Roman... Isn't your world destroyed from the outside?" Sonic asks
"You've noticed a vital point. The outside world has been destroyed. This means Magi Mari and that HP will no longer be updated... Is that what you think? Fool! Magi Mari is a supreme idol who has transcended beyond this world's circumstances! We actually, she's been recreated as an auto-generated AI from her original data." Romani replied
"...I don't know what 'idol' even means but okay," Sonic said
"Doctor, it's not my place to comment on the hobby of a 30-year old bachelor, but please do your job. Otherwise, I'll be forced to delete that "secret" folder of yours." Mash said
"C-Come on now, it's a joke! I'm always checking your surroundings and finding data! Anyway, get some all of you. The Emperor's also waiting for your report. Good night." Romani said before disappearing
"Well everyone, let's head back to Nero's place and get some rest for tomorrow," Sonic said
*Next Day*
"Morning, everyone! Just had one of the best sleep I've ever had in a while." Sonic commented
"Good morning, Senpai. I'm glad you finally got some rest you needed." Mash replied
"Morning to you, Master. I hope you're all cleaned up to start the day." Martha said
"You bet I'm ready, Martha!" Sonic replied
"Good morning Your Majesty, I have an important favour to ask of you," Romani said

"To stabilize our activities in this era, I'd like to go to Mount Etna. A leyline crucial to our mission exists in that volcano."
Etna, huh? The Court Mage used to go to Etna a lot too. Mhm, but why?"
"We need to set a terminal point," Sonic replied
"I see. I'm not sure I understand, but I'll grant you permission. If you go to Etna, will it be for me and for the sake of my Rome?" Nero asks
"Yes, Your Majesty. Of course." Mash said
"Very well. While my investigation of the United Empire prevents me from going ... You may do as you wish. Be prepared for enemy soldiers along the way." Nero replied
"You don't have to worry about that, Sonic has it all under control for us," Mash said
*Later*
"Fou, foooou! (That was quite an easy journey to here.)" Fou said
"You're telling me Fur-ball," Sonic replied
"...We arrived more easily than expected. Isn't this a region vital to the United Empire?" Romani asks
"Wait Doctor, it looks like something's already swarming around the leyline! That's..."
"Ghost-type monsters? If it's naturally occurring, that's quite a leyline!" Romani said
"Let's take care of these guys!" Sonic shouted
"Right!"
Moments later, the five begin running towards the Ghost monsters. Two ghosts notice the five charging at them as both begin flying towards them. Sonic curls into a ball and homing attacks one of the skeletons on its head, throwing it away from him. Medusa then lunges at the ghost and performs a roundhouse kick at its skull head, shattering it as vanishes soon after. Medusa then throws her weapon towards the second ghost, stabbing it through the eyes and pulling it towards her. Moments later, she performs an overhead axe kick that drops the ghost to the ground and shatters its skull into pieces before vanishing away. Three more ghost enemies appear as all fly towards them again. But before they can even reach them and attack, Kiyohime fires several fireballs towards the ghost, which directly hits there of them and throws them away from them. Martha then fires multiple energy projectiles at the ghosts that also hit all three of them as they get pushed further away from the group. Moments later, Sonic and Mash rush towards the ghost as Mush punches one of the ghosts in the face and shatters its skull, making it fall to the ground while Sonic homing attacks the two other ghosts' enemies and throws them into the air. Sonic then jumps right at the two ghosts and performs a backwards roundhouse kick from behind, throwing them towards Medusa. Medusa quickly jumps right at the two ghosts and slashes them with her weapons as she slashes them in half, making them disappear soon after.
"Great job, Medusa!" Sonic said
"The battle is over, for now... Now I'll create a terminal point..."
Moments later, Mash creates a leyline, however, they quickly notice that Da Vinci wasn't anywhere in sight.
"...Hm, Huh? Da Vinci's not coming out. Oh, could it be that this time it's..."
"Fou?"
"He must be busy with Shiva's maintenance, so I guess he doesn't have the time," Romani said
"Fou, fou..."
Mash soon completed the leyline for her and Sonic.
"I've completed the summoning circle. Now we can secure combat personnel even in this era." Mash said
"Good job, Mash! If I had to do this mission alone. It would've taken longer for me to complete it." Sonic commented
"Thank you, Sonic," Mash replied
"Now them, let's return to Rome. Thank goodness there were fewer battles than I expected." Mash said
"What? No, wait, I am still detecting some magical energy. Did it get drawn by the energy that was leaking before the circle was established?" Romani said
"...Oh...Oh...Oh!"
"...Senpai, the opponent is a non-physical type," Mash said
"Martha and Kiyohime!"
"Understood, Master!" Martha replied
"Anything for you, Master..."Kiyohime replied
"Alright, let's do this!"
Sonic notices several ghosts enemies in the distance. Moments later, he soon begins running towards the ghost enemies at full speed. Kiyohime and Martha begin firing several fireballs, as well energy projectiles right at the ghosts. As Sonic ran towards the ghost, the Red Wisp appears from Sonic's body and reenters as Sonic transforms into a red fireball that constantly gives off an aura of flames. Sonic begins to charge up his explosion as he glows brighter and brighter. The ghosts noticed Sonic running towards them and were about to attack him until they were suddenly hit by fireballs and energy which disrupted them from getting closer to Sonic. More fireballs and energy continue to fly towards the ghosts as they were
"*Runs Back To The Group In Under A Second* Great teamwork out there you all!" Sonic said
"No sign of any nearby enemies. Just an area caught on fire from Sonic's new attack." Mash said
"This time we're safe for sure. Let's head down while keeping an eye out for enemy soldiers." Romani replied
"Fou! Fooou!"
*Later*
"United Roman Empire... They seem to have taken in Servants. Who is the mastermind anyway? Is it Leff Lynor, or perhaps..." Mash asks
"I can't pick up anything, but if there's a Servant here it'd be hard to avoid combat. Servants are being implemented in wars without hesitation. This is clearly unusual. If you weren't here, the emperor would've been killed for sure. Please do your best, I'll proceed with my analysis." Romani said
"Got it."
*Nero's Castle*
"Ah, you're back, Sonic. I know you only just returned, but I'm thinking of launching an expedition to Gaul. It's to aid and give encouragement to my fellow subordinates. Of course, If I don't go there'd be no point. I'd like Sonic, Mash, and Sonic's companions to join me. Well? Will you come?" Nero asks
"Of course, I'll join. There's no way you'll be doing all this on your own." Sonic replied
"The emperor's given me details of the situation. Gaul seems to be a front line in the war with the United Empire. There's a chance that the Servant with the Grail could be rampaging there. Leff could be there too. I think you should go with her. Naturally, it'll be dangerous, but..."
"I'm starting to have doubt it's him. There's no way he expects us to find him that easily. But either way, of course, I'll join you, Nero. There's no way she'll be doing all this on her own." Sonic replied
"I agree, Senpai."
"It's decided! An imperial expedition! Prepare at once!" Nero commanded
"Yes, Your Majesty!"
