Chapter 29: Really? Your Majesty?

The Dorm of the Royal Navy

Queen Elizabeth has been looking at combat and damage reports sent by Hood. Hood and Prince of Wales were dispatched to repel the Sakura Empire and repair the damage to the naval base.

Warspite comes inside the room with another pile of papers in her hands.

"You majes–," said Warspite but Queen Elizabeth interrupts her, "Yes, I know, there are more papers that need to be finished by today. We both know the drill and I will do it."

Warspite sighs because that was not what she intended to say. However, these papers are indeed urgent, but she believes Queen Elizabeth has forgotten something important.

Their interaction has been repeating these past few days since they received the report of the Sakura Empire's assault.

"Ugh…" Queen Elizabeth stretches her back, "These decisions make my head feel dizzy, if the commander is here… wait."

She suddenly opens her eyes wide as she just realized an important matter.

"Warspite, how did Arthur's nomination exam go?"

"It was over a few days ago, the commander has been in his room and enjoying his days like a short vacation since we have not called him and there was nothing much he could do."

"Why did you not tell me sooner? Don't you see I can use an extra hand?"

"Forgive my rudeness, your impatientness. I have been trying to report it but you have been saying 'yes papers, we both know the drill,'" replied Warspite. She seems frustrated that she is being blamed for something she has been trying to do.

Queen Elizabeth gets a flashback just a few seconds ago, she thought Warspite was sending more piles of papers.

"Ahem," Queen Elizabeth tries to readjust her attitude, "send a driver to pick him up immediately. Make it the highest priority. Drive him yourself if necessary."

"As you wish, your majesty. Also, please look at this."

Warspite takes out a yellow envelope and hands it to Queen Elizabeth.

Queen Elizabeth opens the envelope and finds a certificate and a letter:

Certificate for Arthur Mandelson:

Military Consultant of the Royal Navy.

According to the thorough review of the performance of the nomination exam, under the authority of the Parliament:

The applicant, Arthur Mandelson, has been officially and completely admitted for the position of military consultant of the Royal Navy. A military consultant is responsible for consistently providing professional suggestions to the military protocols, strategies, and management to the leading positions of the Royal Navy. Furthermore, A military consultant must maintain respectful and suitable behaviors and attitudes toward any personnel of the Royal Navy.

Arthur Mandelson has sufficiently demonstrated his competence toward the responsibilities above. It is important to maintain and improve this outstanding performance during the terms of a military consultant.

Besides the certificate, there is a separate letter.

"The government has granted Arthur Mandelson a position as a military consultant of the Royal Navy. Rest assured, his duties and responsibilities remain the same as the official commander. The Kansens will continue to address him as "commander" from now on, and so do we. It shall serve as his codename, make sure you never expose his real name to any outsiders, especially foreign visitors." From the Council

So the military consultant is his position on paper, but he essentially still becomes an official commander. He has been worrying if the Council provides him with something entirely different.

In the meantime, Arthur sets his next objective to Iris Libre, a key member of Azur Lane, when he can resume his duty as the commander.

While Iris Libre does not have many ships or personnel at their arsenals, most of them hold deep faiths in their religion or chivalry. If he can use religion to spread moral messages to the public, perhaps fewer people will have hatred and fear toward Kansens.

Right now, they face conflicts against Vichya Domination, the other half of their once unified citizens. Therefore, if Arthur desires their help for the Royal Navy, then he needs to offer Iris Libre certain benefits or profits in reuniting their country.

The phone in the room suddenly rings.

"Commander, this is Warspite, welcome back to the Royal Navy, her majesty wishes to see you immediately. A car to pick you up is at the front gate."

Finally, Arthur quickly prepares his suitable appearance and heads out to the car.

Unknown space

"The guest seems interested in Iris Libre," reported Purifier.

The Observer looks at hundreds of screens that are floating around to vaguely form a sphere shape.

Their job is to entertain the "guest" they invited. Therefore, if he desires Iris Libre, they should arrange reasonable and logical situations for him to obtain them.

However, if he can quickly obtain what he wants, he will be eventually bored. After all, humans feel the most satisfaction for their rewards when they spend time and effort to obtain those.

"Hm?" Observer notices one screen. "Interesting, very interesting indeed," said the Observer.

"Did you find something special," asked the Purifier.

"I was thinking about making an opportunity for him, but it seems Ironblood already did the job. Always love competent people," said the Observer.

"So what should we do then?"

"Hmm… let's see here," the Observer calls a touchscreen that shows a list.

She keeps sliding the touch upwards to find the information she needs, "The objectives are present. Rewards have been stated. The participants are, hmm… a bit lacking on his side but he should manage something out. The motivation… oh there we go," said the Observer

The Observer discovered their needed actions.

Observer gives the Purifier a long-range HD camera, a license of a journalist, and a business card of a news company.

"Uh… I am not a photographer," Purifier seems hesitant.

The Observer looks at her with a genuine smile.

"When the time is right, send the pictures you took to the editors."

"Please…" Purifier starts begging. She "purifies" the errors and corruptions in this world, not pretending to be a human. She hates the idea of her being suspicious, especially since she IS an imposter.

"You WILL do it, for the sake of Sirens? Right?" The Observer questions the Purifier with a smile, or rather, a demon's grin.

Purifier sighs and she changes her appearance to a human journalist.
