What if the Crucible child lied and the Reapers had tried synthesis before, many cycles ago and had tried to cover their mistake only for Cerberus to find out. When colonies are attacked and the Alliance cant help Shepard gets thrust back into the fray. This is a terrible summary but my idea isnt fully mapped out yet given its my first attempt at a long story...Give it a try :)
