Chapter 1:
Author's note:
This is my first fanfic so pls give it a chance, Kuroinu and SCP belong to their respective owners(except for SCP, which is under Creative Commons)
Chapter 1 is mainly about When Day Breaks in the SCP World, and it is only in Chapter 4 that we really get into Kuroinu.
*Before you ask, sorry no mature scenes in here because i dont know how to write, the best i can do is to copy and paste from somewhere else lol
Item #: SCP-001
Object Class: Apollyon
Special Containment Procedures: Due to its nature, SCP-001 cannot be contained. Survivors of the SCP-001 event stationed within secure facilities are to remain in contact with one another. Personnel are encouraged to attempt to reach Site-51 Site-19 by any means at their disposal. Personnel with knowledge as to the whereabouts of the O5 Council are to relay this information to the Administrator.
Survivors attempting to travel outdoors must fully cover their bodies in protective clothing; preferably several layers. Travel by foot should be limited as much as possible. Cities - and man-made structures in general - provide the greatest protection. Formerly-wooded areas should be circumvented. Travel by air is preferable above all other methods.
Personnel exposed to SCP-001 are to be considered lost. Compromised personnel are to be abandoned. Euthanization is not to be attempted.
Collective instances of SCP-001-A that are of formidable size are to be avoided at all costs. Conductive electrical weapons have proven partially effective at immobilizing instances, and may be used for self-defense. Incendiary weapons work as well. Cryonic munitions are the most effective thus far.
Testing has revealed that SCP-001-A is relatively safe to consume. This is only to be considered as a last resort in the absence of other options. As SCP-001-A may reconstitute within the digestive system, only small portions should be consumed at a time to prevent blockage.
Personnel stationed at Site-19 are to pursue research concerning off-world colonization. Shuttles must be constructed as to not allow light to penetrate the interior.
Description: SCP-001 is the designation given to the Sun, after an event on [SYSTEM ERROR] Data lost: ec172. Contact SysAdmin. resulting in ~6.8 billion casualties within the first twenty-four hours. This event has been categorized as an XK-Δ-Class "Solar Singularity" Scenario.
The SCP-001 effect does not seem to result from exposure to ultraviolet rays, but rather light in the visual spectrum (~390 to 700 nm). The effect is similarly present in moonlight.
Upon contact with visible light produced by the sun, living organisms liquefy at the point of contact, with the effect spreading until the entire organism is converted. Visually, this is reminiscent of melting wax. The time this takes is largely dependent on the level of exposure and size of the organism. Despite this restructuring, at no point do living organisms perish.
Upon completion, these organisms (SCP-001-A) take on a gelatinous consistency. Motile organisms will attempt to orient themselves in a fashion reminiscent of their previous form, to varying degrees of success.
Flora typically remain physically inert, yet are still capable of photosynthesis, and still produce oxygen. Organisms capable of flight lose the capability to do so. Fauna remain sentient, and display behavior that parallels their non-anomalous counterparts when not absorbed into a collective instance. Humans retain a modicum of sapience and memory.
Biological anomalies exposed to SCP-001 are affected in the same manner. It seems that exposure nullifies any previously expressed anomalous characteristics.
Due to their composition, instances of SCP-001-A that make contact with one another may combine and blend at the molecular level. This does not seem to cause any pain or distress to the instances, though the resulting bulk can inhibit movement. Since the SCP-001 event, most instances have congregated into such collectives, which seem to possess no maximum volume.
The resulting biomass is amorphous and chaotic. The component organisms will shift between a full-to-semi-liquid state - limbs and bodies will rise periodically from within the mass for a short duration, before deteriorating and being subsumed by another life-form.
Collective instances will locomote by using their appendages in tandem to carry their mass. Larger instances will form a pseudopod from their constituent life-forms, and drag themselves about in a manner similar to amoeba.
As far as I know, the Foundation has failed. Humanity is gone-with no chance of rising back up. I'm the only one left. There is no one, truly no one out there, answering my calls, my wails and screams for company. Not if you count the disgusting flesh-blobs and flesh-beasts, anyway.
It was a pretty normal day at the Foundation, if you ask me. D-class being escorted to testing with SCPs, security guards patrolling the premises, researchers being holed up in their observation rooms all day doing their own projects and gods know what. Site staff were conversing with each other in the cafeteria. And me? I was the on-site Security Commander. My work was simple enough: Yelling at my follow colleagues to keep the eggheaded D-class(Or human lab rats, that's the more fitting name) in line, checking the cameras to ensure no one was meddling around, following containment procedures to avoid containment breaches-you get the idea, right?
On this day, a group of us security guards were watching over yet ANOTHER interview with SCP-049. Don't know why they keep on doing interviews with 049. I mean, he just fucking repeats "The Pestilence is here, and my job is to cure you" yada yada yada, and his "cure" means killing you with a touch of his hand, then resurrecting you as a zombie. I'm not one of those researchers, so don't ask me what else he does. So you get it why we need such a heavy security presence around him, right? He just fucking comes and nabs you suddenly, kills you in the name of Science and zombifies you.
It was nothing unusual, just watching him carefully if he had any sudden movements or aggression towards the researchers, which usually meant nabbing one more test subject for his so-called cure. Thankfully, there was none. On a side note, he never seemed to register our presence, as if we did not exist–he just talks to the scientists all the time about his "wishes for the Pestilence to stop existing" and "Curing the sick". Whatever, this isn't the point. The job of us security guards is to make sure the doctor stays in his cell and watch for any signs of a jailbreak. Any time 049 seemed to get too excited, or angry, or even anxious that one of his "colleagues" was exhibiting signs of this Pestilence, it meant getting the scientist out of the room and lock down the cell. Yet on that day I saw something that I had never seen before from the Doctor. As he paused in the middle of his sentence and seemed to stare at the ceiling with that beaked mask of his it took me a minute to realize just what I was seeing from the creature.
Fear.
At that moment, I knew that something was wrong, something was amiss. SCPs just don't fear something suddenly. Most of the humanoid SCPs in our Site, Site-19, are either completely indestructible, or have some weird-ass ability that lets you become a zombie or something. They are the strongest around here, so you get why they won't get scared all of a sudden. So something was seriously wrong around here. Even the researcher started to get angsty, judging from his fidgets and frequently asking the doctor," Why did you stop talking? What is going on here?"
The next things that happened was a blur-rushing the researcher out of the room, reporting to the site administrator about a possible containment breach or Chaos Insurgency attack, and waiting for further information about the possible escaped SCP. Gods, how I wish it was a normal containment breach.
I stood there, waiting. Waiting for a response from site administration for further orders. Waiting for the response team to get here so I could get this scientist who would not shut the fuck up about what was wrong and looking frantically from left to right, then back left to a secure location until the lockdown had lifted.
But there was no rapid response team members incoming.
This is when I heard over the radio, something that I would not be able to forget for life.
"Requesting immediate assistance in the Entrance Zone! Requesting immediate assistance in the Entrance Zone! There are unknown entities engaging us!" before a scream rang out from presumably the speaker. I heard some gurgling from the radio, then a loud explosion.
Now the situation was bad, really bad. The security team rarely asked for assistance when engaging outside threats, as most of them were only a few Chaos Insurgents that we could, or failing that, the facility could at least easily take care of. What the hell is happening?
Wordlessly, I rushed into the Heavy Containment Zone security station. I wanted answers. Again, no one manning the camera station or anyone else in the room for that matter. And on those cameras was a sight I never expected to see in an SCP facility. All throughout the lower levels, SCP's just...wandering around. SCP-173, the Peanut, standing in front of the SCP-012 room. SCP-457 running around like a headless chicken. SCP-106 just randomly chilling around and pissing his corrosive goo on the walls-I'm pretty sure that counts as vandalism. Who let them out of their cells? Why had no one reported the containment breach?
More importantly, why were they not trying to escape the facility?
Shifting to the Entrance Zone showed an even more chilling sight. Blood, gore and P-90s lying on the floor. Empty hallways with empty shells all over the floor. There was a big fight here, there was no denying that. The blood proofed it, but there were no bodies.
No bodies. Highly suspicious.
This could mean two things: Either there was a zombie outbreak, which was highly unlikely since I'm pretty damn sure the cap on SCP-008 is sealed tight and nobody has done any research on it for the last three days(For your information, the longest time it took for SCP-008 to turn a human into a zombie was 16 hours), or the bodies were taken away for some ritual, perhaps?
The screens flashed for a second, startling both of us. A face then appeared on one of the monitors that I didn't recognize but the scientist identified as being SCP-079. Nothing happened for a few seconds, before a text box appeared on one of the monitors.
You are looking in the wrong direction. The threat is not down here, but up there.
Up there? Up where? Does it mean outside on the surface? What the hell was this thing talking about?
Still, I turned the cameras to the outer perimeter of the facility. What I saw shocked me.
A hazy red sun, almost looking as if it were made of blood, hung over the Foundation parking lot. Something had to be wrong with it, HAD TO BE WRONG, since there is no way it would show this. Perhaps it glitched out or something?
The scientist shouted," What the fucking hell is it?" as he pointed to one of the monitors. What I saw on it almost gave me a heart attack.
It was … flesh, but warped. Writhing flesh grouped up into some kind of ball. Reaching out and banging on the door. There was no audio on this camera but I swear I could see various mouths opening and shouting at the door. I looked closely and vaguely saw limbs flailing and pounding at the gate, trying its best to get into the gate. As I watched, the limbs slowly melted back into the mass of flesh and re-emerged elsewhere.
The scientist emptied his breakfast immediately.
I typed into the computer, " What are we looking at?"
SCP-079 responded," Humanity. Or what was left of them. "
"Who gave you access to the security system?"
"No one else was there to stop me. Someone called Dr. Maynard gave me access to the facility so the Chaos Insurgency could attack, and we were discovered by the on-site security forces. He was promptly terminated. However, before the Chaos Insurgency could enter the facility, this happened. "
"Where is everyone else?"
"You are currently looking at them. "
This was fake. This was untrue. SCP-079 was trying to lower my guard so he could stage another goddamn containment breach whereiseveryoneelsewhereiseveryoneelse…
"How many Foundation personal remaining in Site-19?"
"Only you two. However, I have detected an incoming tram towards Site-19 carrying a Containment Specialist. "
"Any MTF coming?"
"They have all been turned."
" Request assistance in activating further security measures."
"WILL YOU FUCKING TELL ME WHAT IS FUCKING HAPPENING ON, YOU STUPID SHITTY COMPUTER?"
No response. The screen just repeated the same request again and again. As I calmed down, I noticed three words in the structuring of the phrase.
"Further security measures."
With shaking hands, I typed into the computer," The flesh-blob on the monitor, are there any in the facility?"
"Yes. Multiple instances of the aforementioned creatures spotted inside the Entrance Zone. They drag people into the light, so more of them can be created. "
"Human. I need help. You need my help. Let us work together, if you wish to continue living. Request assistance in activating further security measures."
Teaser for future chapters:
Within the dungeons inside Feoh, Beasley was busily thrusting into Princess Alicia."I am going to breed you, princess!" He roared. Princess Alicia was crying, as she knew that she would be tainted by this monster. However, as a true knight, she would have to sacrifice her body for the good of many, especially her adorable little sister Prim. As tears welled up in her eyes once more and Beasley groped her breast while spraying white liquid on her face, there was a voice resounding from outside the dungeon.
" Alright boys, move in. SCP-079 has already taken control of all the doors at the lower levels of this castle, which can deter reinforcements from entering the area. Terminate all hostiles afflicted to the Group of Interest known as the "Black Dogs", on a shoot-on-sight basis. Any survivors are to be immediately infected with SCP-008. Over. "
