I Do Not Own Twilight
Bella burned.
She couldn't think of anything except her pain.
She knew someone was with her, but the fire didn't allow her to know this person.
As time went on, she could hear a voice whispering encouraging words to her.
"You are beautiful."
"You are my mate."
"Remember dancing with me."
"I love you."
Suddenly, Bella knew who these words were from, Garrett. His name was a balm to her mind. She was changing for Garrett. She knew now. She understood the burning. She was burning for him. Garrett. He was hers and this thought alone made the pain lessen. She focused on this thought throughout the rest of her change.
She focused on his voice to ease her pain when suddenly there were more voices. Voices that were not as pleasant but not unpleasant either. Neither was a balm to her.
"She's beautiful!" The high-pitched voice shrieked.
"She's very quiet," a rich deep voice drawled.
Then she heard Garrett and the balm returned, "I'm glad you both could make it. Is he gone then?"
"As far as I could tell Edward's in Alaska," at this name the fire raged through her. The burning causing her to cry out in pain.
"Shush, sweetheart, I'm here. I'm here Bella." Garrett began rubbing her forehead and whispering gently to her. She was glad he was there. He was hers. He belonged to her. The pain became muted.
There was the sound of footsteps and the closing of a door. She could only hear his gentle whispers.
Finally, the pain started to with draw from her fingers and toes. She could wiggle them slightly. The pain was receding up her arms and legs. It became an inferno in her chest. She knew her heart would stop soon but right now it was fluttering away rapidly. There was and explosion in her chest. Then nothing.
She took a deep breath and fluttered open her eyes.
She looked at the vaulted, wood-paneled ceiling and could see all the grains in the wood. She sat up quickly.
There he was, Garrett.
Before she could think she was in front of him. She breathed in his scent, it was like gun powder, rum, and summer wind. She nuzzled into his neck just reveling in his smell. She licked his neck and felt him shiver underneath her fingers. She sunk her teeth into his neck.
Garrett wrapped his hands in her hair. The feeling of her breathing in his scent caused him to shiver. A wide smile of pleasure formed on his face when she bit his neck. He knew what this meant, her inner vampire had claimed him as her own. There was nothing he had felt better than her teeth buried in his neck. He smiled wryly at the thought of biting her neck.
She released her teeth carefully and sealed the bite by licking it several times causing Garrett to purr lowly in his chest. She ran her nose against his jaw and turned his neck to her. Garrett smiled, kissed her neck several times before biting into her neck. Bella gasped and began purring in pleasure.
He released his teeth and licked over her bite to seal in his scent. He placed both hands on the sides of her face and leaned into capture her lips. There was a crash and the door flew open.
Garrett pushed Bella behind him, keeping one hand on her hip, and let out of loud growl. "Garrett, Edward's here. We're in trouble," Jasper drawled his face hard and angry.
Jasper turned out the door motioning for them to follow. Garrett moved Bella in front of him as he knew Jasper was protecting their front and he could protect her back.
They flitted to the window where Alice was standing tensely. She pointed, "He is lighting them on fire!" She grimaced.
They could see Edward with a large pack on his back which had a hose with a long nozzle attached. Looking closely, it was two different large tubes. Suddenly, flames shot out of the nozzle and the trees all around the area lit up. He moved quickly and they could all see they were now surrounded by flames.
"He has a flame thrower!" Bella exclaimed but upon hearing her voice she quickly focused on her own sound.
Jasper chuckled and muttered, "Newborn attention span."
"We are surrounded by flames, and I can't see what we need to do," Alice was panicked.
Garrett pulled Bella to him and kissed her lips, "I'll be back. I've been in a fire fight before." He winked and headed out the door with Jasper close behind.
Edward walked up two the two men. His nose was in the air and he looked smug. "I knew I couldn't win in a fight physically between you two, so I had to come up with something else. Good thing in a brain verses brawn fight the brain always wins," he laughed haughtily.
"How did ya find us?" Jasper wondered where his breach of security happened. He was meticulous in attempting to keep his secrets safe and he was angry Edward had bested him somehow.
Knowing his thoughts Edward laughed, "It was thinking I went all the way to Denali. I waited and doubled back. Once I saw you headed off, I kept out of your range but was able to get close enough to Alice when you stopped for gas, to read her thoughts."
Jasper nodded annoyed he had given him the information.
Garrett raised his hands, "Edward, she has been changed." He moved his shirt to show him the bite on his neck, "She has claimed me. It is over."
"No!" His face contorted in rage, "You made her bite you! She is mine." With a flick of his wrist the flames began shooting out of the nozzle in his hands. He ran towards the two vampires.
Both began running toward the house to escape the wide flames rushing toward them.
Bella watched from the window and Garrett and Jasper were about to be consumed in a ball of fire. She felt something break in her mind and she screamed, "NO!" and her hand flew up stretching toward her mate.
Just behind Garrett and Jasper a huge sphere of fire appeared, trapping the flames inside becoming a dome of fire. The two men turned and back away from the dome whipping their heads around looking for Edward.
The fire inside the dome dissipated and soon was a dome of smoke. Inside the house Bella was staring tensely at the dome. Alice wrapped her arms around Bella's shoulders. "They're okay. You can drop your shield."
Bella didn't move. She was frozen in her place, not daring to drop her guard.
Garrett and Jasper came inside and flew to the girls. Garrett came up behind Bella and began whispering in her ear. "I'm okay. You can relax. You saved me." He licked his mark on her neck then kissed it causing her to shiver and relax into his arms.
He spun her toward him and looked deeply in her eyes, "You saved me. I'm okay because you saved me." She melted into his embrace and began sobbing tearlessly against his chest. He kept whispering to her and kissing her head.
With a loud pop causing all four vamps to look out the window the shield broke. The smoke dispersed and began blowing away on the wind. In the center of the dome was a pile of ash and a melted pile of metal that once was a flame thrower.
Garrett hummed low in his throat, "Remind me not to upset you," he smirked causing all four vampires to laugh with relief.
"Well, you've had a busy first day as a vampire. I hope the rest of your existence isn't this exciting." Jasper drawled.
