While You Slept

Lady Countryrose

Ch. 5

The next morning found Dorea and Petunia up before everyone else. Where they rushed over to the cottage, where Dorea had called for a couple of house elves to get the cottage a deep clean.

"What colors were you thinking of, Petunia," asked Dorea with a thoughtful glance.

"Either light yellow and sage green, or sage green, pink and orange." Petunia looked around the place with a critical eye.

"I can see that. Lucky for you, if you don't like something. I can always magic to another color."

The two left the house elves to do the cleaning, while they went back inside for breakfast. Where they found Charlus talking with Harry and Dudley.

"What would I be able to have, since I don't have magic," asked Dudley softly.

Charlus smiled like he knew something. "Until Harry hits eleven, there are a lot of things he can't have, either. But you could have clothes, books of fiction and a limited amount of animals as pets. Along with a few other things."

"Grandpa, who was the first magic user," asked Harry. While Dorea and Petunia had sat down.

"Well," Charlus thought for a moment. "None you might have heard. Except for one, Merlin. King Arthur's wizard and druid."

"Good lord, really," gasped Petunia in wonder. "Merlin was real?!"

Dorea nodded her head. "Oh, yes he was. He was the first who came up with most of the spells and potions in our world. But," she was sad about how things became back then. "After the power struggle that happened, just as King Arthur had died. He told all those of magic to hide, for there will be no muggle like him to protect the likes of magic users again."

Petunia glanced down at her lap. "People fear what they don't understand. I hate to say this, I was one of them. Thinking that my sister could easily kill me. If she didn't know what she was doing."

"That is why we have Hogwarts," replied Charlus, with a cheerful voice. "Where they learn to build their magic at a school. Molding them into better magic users."

Harry had a smile on his lips. "I can't wait to learn."

After the family had eaten their fill. Charlus was still too weak to leave the manor. Leaving Dorea with Petunia and the two boys on her own. She led them through the fireplace to the Leaky Cauldron. Then to Diagon Alley.

Dorea had seen the fear in Petunia's eyes. While the boys were gasping in delight. Dorea could only smile and led them to Gringotts. Where she got her money and switched it to English currency of muggle money. Then led them outside the Alley towards the muggle world.

From there, they managed to get to a muggle mall. Where they went from one clothing store to the next. While Harry was looking at the options of clothes. He stumbled into a girl with wild brown hair and brown eyes.

"Sorry," the two had spoken as one. Only to giggle at each other. "Sorry, I am Harry Potter."

The girl smiled at him. "Hermione Granger."

Dorea could see from where she stood. That the two were becoming fast friends. She had found the girl's mother and exchanged addresses for the children to write to each other. In the end, everyone had gotten the clothes that they needed and went their separate ways.

Dorea then showed the Diagon Alley and treated them to ice cream at the local shop. Then headed for home. Where Dorea had told them to leave the bags next to the fireplace. Then Dorea took Petunia to the cottage and finished off what needed to be done.

Dorea had magicked the kitchen to have light yellow walls with sage green cupboards. A while sink and chopping wood countertops. With accents of gold. The rest of the house had sage green walls with golden wooden floors. The bathroom had sage green with mixes of orange and pink.

Dorea turned towards Petunia and asked, "What do you want for the bedrooms?"

Petunia smiled softly. "Dudley's room, I would like his room to have medium gray and teal. For my own, I would love to have lilac, white and silver. Please."

Dorea was only too happy to help out. By the end, she saw an unadulterated happiness on Petunia's face. She could see that the other woman had hardly shown such happiness in a long time. Dorea even had magic, not just the walls. But also the bedding and other things to go with the rooms.

She made everything new again. So that there was no dust or anything falling apart, on the new owners. She had requested the house elves to update the structure and the plumbing of the house. Making everything as new as if it had been built within the week.

Dorea then requested the elves to bring, what was, Dudley's and Petunia's into the cottage. The two then made it back to the manor. Where joined the others for dinner.

"Is it done, yet, mummy," asked Dudley.

Petunia smiled, "Yes it is, Dudley. We shall move in, after dinner."

It was then that Dudley started shoving food into his mouth. Showing how excited he was. Dorea sighed, she was going to have to educate Petunia about proper eating habits for her son.
