While You Slept

Lady Countryrose

Ch. 6

Over the weeks, Harry and Hermione had been writing to each other. Dorea was only too happy to provide play dates for the two of them. One of those days was Harry's eighth birthday. Where she saw an accidental magic spike, not just from Harry, but also Hermione.

Hermione blushed, when her magic had brought her a book from the Potter library, out onto the lawn of their home.

"I am so sorry, Mrs. Potter." She blushed some more. Not reading the cover of the book that was given to her.

"Well, my dear, you might want to read what you have in your hands." Dorea smiled at her.

Hermione blinked a couple of times. "Hogwarts, A History." She then opened the book. "Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry."

Before she could say anything more. Harry had magicked a plate of cake to come to him. Causing him to blush as well. Then something happened that she hadn't expected. A fork flew from the table to Dudley's hand.

Dorea smiled wholeheartedly. "We have a witch and two wizards in our mists!" She clapped her hands.

"What," gasped Hermione's mother. Whom Dorea knew to be Helen Granger.

"Merlin was not the only wizard in the world, Helen." Then Dorea had explained everything about the Wizarding World to Hermione's parents. Who looked equal parts fearful and disbelieved.

Helen and her husband, George Granger, looked at each other. "I don't know if we want this for our daughter," Helen had supplied.

Dorea sighed, "I am afraid that if she doesn't go to school and control her magic. She could either hurt others or have her magic grow too much for her to handle. Where her magic could kill her." She had heard stories about such children. All because the parents didn't know what they were doing.

George huffed out with a sad look on his face. "This was not what we had pictured for our daughter." Dorea saw in his eyes that spoke fear. "But we may have to ask if you could be her magical guardian."

Helen nodded her head with tears in her eyes. "We can't be a part of this world that you're trying to get us involved with." She shook her head. "My grandmother told me a tale about this so-called Wizarding World. Her family turned their backs on her, once she had shown no magic."

Dorea had felt sad for Helen's grandmother. "Who was her family, if you don't mind me asking?"

"Bletchley, Brianna." Tears leaked out of Helen's eyes. "She was forced out of her home, because of her magic. But at least they waited until she was eighteen."

"Bletchley, are the decadence of Ravenclaw." Dorea could not believe her ears. She had never heard a Bletchley being kicked out of their family before.

'I had gone to Hogwarts, back in 1918. About the time Brianna Bletchley should have. But I remember Brand Bletchley.'

"Did she have a twin brother," asked Dorea with a thoughtful look.

Helen sighed, "Brand. They used to be close. Until he had gone to school, and she was left behind."

Dorea glanced over to Hermione. Only to see her crying, as Harry hugged her close to him. She knew she had to do the right thing. 'I do miss having a house full of children.'

Dorea sighed, she turned towards Charlus, who was sitting in a chair nearby. "Don't worry, dear, we can bring her on."

Hermione looked up with hope in her eyes. "I…can," she asked in a small voice.

Dorea smiled wholeheartedly. "Yes, dear, you can." She then led the Grangers over to Charlus. Who had already called for Alastor Moody to come with the proper papers.

Dorea heard Harry say to Hermione. "I guess my wish came true. I wanted you for a sister, Hermione."

The girl giggled softly. "I wanted you as a brother too, Harry." The two hugged each other tight.

Dudley gruffed, "Does that mean that I have a new cousin?" Then the three had truly laughed. Sharing a time of glee, even during a dark time.
