Hello people of the interwebs

I have done a bad and posted a chapter that I wasn't happy with so I decided to fix my mistake and remold this chapter into one that I want it to be so here it is with better information and fewer idiotic words so that both viewers and creator alike can enjoy the story.

that being said I would like you all to please leave a review on my stories it would really help!

Welcome to my story "Brother of Scarlet"

Chapter 6 Psion and Promises

P.S I don't own Fairy Tail because I'm not loving enough.

Alex Pov

Whelp I know it, I messed up…

I woke up a few hours later to speak with my companions about what happened this morning, but before they started to speak to me I was given both my sword and a pack to carry for punishment.

"Well I mean, it was an interesting experience being flooded with such an amount of power it felt nice.." I said looking at the two who were standing over me.

I was looking at them and I had the sudden urge to not be looked down upon by anyone even my saviors.

'These people need to know their place.." I thought narrowing my eyes

"So it seems as if your magic has some sort of influence on your mind changing your personality when used.." Tomas started to say before being cut off

I scoffed loudly getting their attention.

my eyes narrowed, "stop presuming you can stand over me I don't seem to remember giving you permission." I said annoyed looking at their shocked faces

"That's it brat, you looking for another beating!?" Fay yelled at me

I looked back over to her with an apologetic expression, "sorry about that I just… it seems my magic is affecting my thoughts even without it being present I wouldn't say something like this…." I trailed off looking downwards

'This isn't good,' I thought 'I don't know what happening to me I've never been a mean person before its something I wouldn't even consider' I finished looking down at my sword which was now strapped to both my arms.

"No need to fret young Alexander it just seems that your power gives an overpowering emotion." Tomas said placing a hand on my head, "with time and training we can beat it out of you."

I gulped gaining both a reassuring smile from Tomas and a creepily sweet smile from Fay.

'Oh no, this is going to be even more painful than it already is' I thought.

And so time flew by in a blur with more sword training, in which I was beaten brutally while being taught different sword forms and how to predict an opponent's attack, how to counter-attack and parry them, and how to block using my sword and redirect and attack away. As this was going on our sticks started to be unable to handle these hardcore training sessions so I came up with an idea to use my constructs and it worked I could create two swords using a new spell called Durendal to maintain them. Sadly this caused more issues due to having less time to not be beaten looking for the sticks needed which would usually take around an hour or so making me endure longer harsher beatings.

In the event, I would have another issue like before we decided to have more cautious magic training which meant having Tomas watch from the sidelines in case any situations might occur in which my magic needs to be locked, which thankfully only happened a few times. I can now use a smaller less powerful version of my Damocles construct that follows me around letting me use less complicated and less powerful versions of the constructs which I named "Durendal" while still giving me a boost to my magic albeit a small one.

We have learned quite a lot about my magic from our fight and through many tests, we came to the conclusion that my Kings Construct Magic allowed me to form nearly anything from condensed magic and I have to say I'm excited because unlike other similar types of magic my King's Construct Magic gives my constructs a power boost and allows more complicated movements and creations when using my Damocles.

I no longer had to carry my pack and sword I could place them on a floating construct and have it follow along beside me using my Durendal. But that only lasted for a few seconds at most because once Tomas saw he slapped me upside the head

"Ouch!" I said rubbing the back of my skull

"You need to build up muscle Alexander, don't always rely on your magic constructs. While they may be powerful, one day if you meet someone like me on the battlefield and your magic gets locked you will need to have skills you can rely on and muscle is a part of that. Too many mages only rely on their magic when they could be amazing if they just kept in shape."

'I'll have to work harder then this will be a huge advantage for me!"

"That's good thinking you have there and since you have strengthened your resolve on the matter I will graciously allow you to carry more bags."

I sighed resigned to my fate

I did still have to carry my stuff and a few new burdens the rest of the trip to build more muscle and I have to say for only nine days of constant training it worked out well I still couldn't hold my great sword by the handle yet but I was getting close then we arrived in Pison.

'What the hell.." I thought. "Psion isn't a town it's more like a fortress!"

"Old man, I thought you said that this place is a town?" I asked

"It is a town," he responded. "A large fortress was built here long ago by the Fiore military but it was decommissioned soon after the war they were fighting in ended and since so many people lived here they turned it into a town." He finished

"Yep it is a cool place, there are many weapons shops here as well!" Fay said excitedly

"Okay, then where is the mercenary building?" I asked looking around for anything that might point me where we needed to go.

"Up there" Tomas pointed up at the large central building that must have been used as the headquarters for the military.

"Wow, I didn't expect them to have such an important building

"Well, this place is the home of Fiore's mercenaries so I'd hope they would have such a building," Fay said

"Yep and that's where we're headed so let's get a move on," Tomas said walking off towards the building.

"Okay!" I said excitedly.

'My first step in finding you Erza, wait for me I'm coming.'

Some time passed and we arrived at the Mercenary Guild

"State your business," asked a man wearing a pink jumpsuit at the front office who was looking down at something.

'What is hell..' I thought mouth agape.

"We're here to take the test.." Said Tomas.

Just then the pink jumpsuit guy looked up as if he was shocked to see us.

"Y-yes right away sir!" He said running to the back "just wait one second I need to go talk to the boss."

"Whelp here we go," Tomas said rolling his eyes.

"What's going on?" I asked.

"Nothing just this may get a little inconvenient due to my…. Reputation…" he replied

"What do you mea…" I started to ask

"Tomas!" Came from behind the desk

"This is what I meant," he said pointing back at the man clad in a pink business suit.

"It's so good to see you again, I see you've come to take the test again ready to get back into the business?" The pink man asked.

"No I'm not a fighter anymore, I've come to have this young man take the test I believe he is mercenary material," Tomas replied gesturing at me calmly but with a small smile on his face.

"Ah I see," he said disappointed then as soon as it appeared it vanished.

"Well then!" He said clapping his hands together. "Follow me, kid."

I looked back to Tomas who just nodded and said "we will be waiting here for you and leave your great sword here you can't use it yet so it will be of no help."

"Okay then.." I said handing the sword off to Tomas and then running to catch up with the man clad in the pink suit.

'Here we go..' I thought

"So kid, what's your specialty?" He asked casting a side glance at me

"Well, I practice both swordsmanship and magic," I replied.

"Hmm, a magic swordsman eh?" He looked at me "just like Tomas back there no wonder he saw fit to bring you here."

I looked back at him, "what do you mean?" I asked curiously.

"Well, I'm sure you've seen his magic it is perfect for this line of work "Magic Lock" is a magic that locks the magic of a mage so he is a magic swordsman as well." He replied

"Yeah I have seen his magic it's pretty cool almost as cool as mine too.." I said trailing off a little at the end.

"Oh?" He raised his eyebrow. "What is your magic?' He asked

I smirked, "you will just have to wait and see I'm guessing I'll be showing you during this test."

He laughed.

"Yes, that's correct this test will evaluate your skills to see if you're good enough to join up."

"So when do we start?" I asked looking back at him.

"Right now," he said quickly pulling a rapier out of his belt and thrusting it towards me. I skillfully jumped back out of range and got ready in a fighting stance.

"Are you going to use a sword or not kid, I thought you were a magic swordsman?"

"It's Alexander and I am," I said forming a sword construct.

"Now that we have our weapons let us begin this fight!" I said

"Very well Alexander you have the honor of fighting Redlam the lightfoot now let's begin."

I attacked first with thrusts and changed into slashing hoping to throw him off balance by manipulating the length of my construct growing it and shrinking it to feint attacks. This was working with an unpredictable weapon it was hard to dodge or counter I thought of this when I was fighting Tomas he would change to different sized sticks when I wasn't looking to throw me off.

I made a few glancing blows pushing him back with the skill of my manipulations. He made a comeback when he managed to dodge a thrust and he kicked me square in the chest sending me flying backward and into a wall.

"Damn, I thought this was going to be harder," I said jokingly while pulling myself out from the crack in the wall.

"Well let's see how you handle level two!" He yelled

Running at me faster than before getting hits in left and right steadily pushing me back. That's when I formed a shield in the space between us catching him off guard and letting me get in a hit of my own throwing him back and into the other wall.

He quickly got back up and ran back at me throwing in a few thrusts aiming for my body. I swiftly created another construct shield to block the blows and began my attack anew.

Throwing my sword at him and creating a new one I managed to make him stumble letting me get in his guard to attack but before I could bring up my sword, he jumped over me slashing at my back. Which unfortunately hit sending a sharp pain throughout my back making me fall to the ground.

Luckily as he was aiming for another thrust at my back I managed to roll to the side and get to my feet quickly throwing another slash at his midsection not giving him a chance to dodge. And sure enough, my attack hit true and I left a small gash down the length of his chest causing me to laugh a little at his expression.

"Well then level three it is…" he trailed off and I saw him vanish from sight

Quickly throwing up shield constructs around my body I felt one shatter behind me as its magic was disrupted by his sword. I turned around only to get punched in the face sending me 20 feet back and skidding down the hallway. I got up slowly letting the blackspots fade from my sight then suddenly I saw a flash of pink before me attempting a thrust that I only barely dodged. A strong wind blasted past my face giving it a scratch on the side and I knew then that if it hit, my head would have been blown clean off.

I looked up at the pink-suited man who only had a smile on his face and reached out his hand to me.

"well done Alexander you passed the test and you made it to level three!" He said as I took his hand also smiling.

"Thanks," I said catching myself before I could fall.

"So was that all for the test?"

"Yes it was, I needed to see what level of skill you were at and currently you would be at the rank above beginner, intermediate level." He said a proud smile on his face "most people can't reach level three during their first time taking the test now let's go get you registered."

He led me back to the desk at the entrance of the building to pick up my companions

"See I knew he would make it!" Fay said excitedly hitting Tomas on the back

"Well done Alexander you have done well," said Tomas handing back my great sword.

"Doesn't matter much I knew I was going to pass," I said with an arrogant smile on my face.

"Run it back brat!" Fay said.

"I meant…:" I started "thanks for the lessons!" I finished with my right hand raised in the air.

"Well, how long will you be staying Tomas?" Redlam interjected with a question.

"Well we stayed too long back on the outskirts of Rosemary Village," He said looking back at me. "We can only stay for tonight then we will have to move on to the next town until we reach Hargeon I think our clients have been waiting long enough."

"What!" I said raising my voice slightly. "But we haven't even been here a day!"

'They can't leave yet I mean, they've only been here a day.' I thought sadly while looking down at my feet.

"Come now Alex," Fay said putting her hand on my head. "One day when you are older we will meet again and that day you will have to tell us about all of your adventures and bring your sister too so I can finally meet her what do you say?"

"Okay I promise," I said with a smile

"There we are, that's the Alex I know," Fay said with a happy smile on her face.

"Well we still have all day so we'll help you settle in the area since I know it quite well," Tomas said giving me a squeeze on the shoulder.

"Well let's get you registered and you will need to report back in tomorrow afternoon so we can introduce you to the guild you will also have an assigned room for as long as you are a member of the mercenaries of Fiore," Redlam said walking off.

'He does that quite often,' I thought with a sweatdrop.

"Well, I'll get registered, and let's go around town while we have the chance!" I said running off after him

"Yes lets," said Fay

"Indeed" replied Tomas

Later That day

"Heya!" I yelled running up to them

"Alex, it's about time you showed up!" Fay said

"Yes well, let us get a move on I to want to show you around town." Said Tomas

We walked, seeing the sights checking on old places where Tomas used to hang around and we even checked out some stores in the area to buy some clothing for when the two left.

"Hey Tomas I thought you didn't make it as a mercenary but you seem pretty popular around here?" I asked

"Yes well I actually did make it as a mercenary don't listen to what Fay says about it I was strong enough to do well in the guild but after her father was born my wife asked me to leave the life so she didn't have to worry about me not returning home one day." He replied

"Where are your wife and Fay's father now?" I asked

"My wife passed quite a few years ago now it's what got me to become a traveling magic merchant in the first place." He said "Fay and her Father asked to join me, while my son is currently up in Hargeon dealing with the clients because of how late we are. And it was actually my son who found you in the first place that's how we had that extra sleeping bag for you in the first place."

"Oh wow," I said.

"so…" I started casting him to raise an eyebrow at me

"When will you be leaving tomorrow?"

"Well, it will likely be sometime in the morning we are pretty far behind our normal schedule." He started and I looked down "but we will probably stay until you get settled in tomorrow."

"I see.." I said

"Well let's enjoy the rest of the day as best we can before we part for what may be quite a long time," Tomas said.

"Let us do that then," I said walking off with him.

Well, I hope you enjoyed it!

I had a good time remaking this of course it still has some of the original text I just reworded and elaborated on detail that was lacking most although I did add a good bit
