Chapter 1

Screams were heard, filled with much anguish and pain that it was almost unbearable to the people around. They knew it was that brat again. The one with the bloodline. Those cursed beings that brought nothing but pain to those around. The monsters. That is what made them stay themselves from leaving and going to see what was happening. She deserved all the pain that she got for being one of them. People like her deserved no mercy. The only thing they deserved was death.

~..~

A small girl sat huddled in a corner. Her knees drawn up to her chest and her head buried in her lap. Her small form shook with sobs. Lifting her head to reveal crystallized blue eyes that were overflowing with tears. The girl had an exquisitely regal face complete with a pale complexion with almond-shaped eyes, a small nose, full lips, and high cheekbones. Raven black hair fell down her back to rest just above her waist.

Raising a pale arm the girl wiped at her eyes before pushing herself to her feet. And not bothering to glance at the body that lay not to far from her, the girl ran towards the door and out of the house while the images of the even that had just taken place invaded her mind causing her to stumble slightly, sobs threatening to escape.

Gaining her footing the girl took off down the road before coming to a stop at a bridge and dropping to her hands and knees near the railing she let the tears that she was trying to hold backflow from her eyes, down her cheeks to drip of her chin and fall into the water below.

~..~

A young boy was walking across the bridge when he saw a girl a bit younger than himself race past him before she collapsed at the end of the bridge near the railing, and by the way, her body shook he could tell that she was crying.

Worry etched into his feature as he ran towards the girl and keeled in front of her.

"Are you alright?" he asked softly while placing a hand on her arm.

Looking up the girl nodded her head, "Yes, I'm Fine!"

The boy smiled slightly at the girl, "I am Haku, it's a pleasure to meet you. " he called with a bow.

"My name is Kagome, Nice to meet you." called the girl as she gave a bow as well.

Haku took a seat beside the girl and looked over the railing and into the water below.

"So why are you out here alone, Kagome-chan?"

"Daddy doesn't love me!" she whimpered as she wrapped her arms around her waist as she resisted the urge to cry...again.

Haku stared at the girl sadly knowing how she felt. "My daddy doesn't want me either," he whispered.

Kagome turned and looked at Haku before wrapping her arms around him much to his shock before he slowly returned the small gesture.

"Haku." she whispered after a while.

"Yes?" he replied looking at the small girl in his arms.

"Are you my friend?" she asked looking up at him.

Shocked plagued the young boy for several seconds before a bright smile formed on his lips and he nodded his head. "Yes."

And for the first time in a long time, Kagome smiled.

"Come on let's go somewhere else," called Haku noticing the looks that they were getting from the older people and not wanting his new friend to be around them and get hurt by them.

Kagome nodded her head and watched as he stood up before offering a hand to help her up.

Once the two were on their feet, they left the bridge passing an older male with a sword strapped to his back. His features were sharp and the look in his eyes had Kagome clutching at her newfound friends arms as they passed him. She felt his stare on them and couldn't but shiver at their intensity.

As soon as they were far enough away from the bridge, Kagome released the death grip she hed on Haku and took calming breaths, when the smell of flowers drifted to her nose. Turning her head Kagome looked at the flowers and smiled.

"This is pretty!" exclaimed Kagome.

Haku smiled at her. "Yes" he called agreeing with her statement. "Come on we should keep going."

Kagome nodded her head and went to walk away when something or someone slammed into her sending her and the other thing or person to the ground.

Looking up Kagome tried to see what had hit her only to stare wide eyed at the boy who had bumped her, The boy around Haku's age and he was very pretty like Haku with shoulder length white hair that blew gently behind him, his vivid green eyes told of much pain and loneliness.

Kagome's heart lurch at the sight of the boy. He had the same eyes as Haku and her that it was almost painful.

Haku reached down and helped Kagome up before looking at the other boy and helping him up as well.

"Are you alright?" he asked looking at Kagome and the boy.

"Yes...thank you!" they called in unison.

"What's your name?" asked Kagome. "I'm Kagome and this is Haku"

"Kimimaro"

A silence fell over the group after that, each of them lost in their own thoughts. Haku didn't know what to do or say so he remained silent and just observed the boy and the surroundings. Kimimaro didn't want them to leave not wanting to be alone again. And Kagome wanted Kimimaro to join her and Haku but didn't know how to ask him.

After a few more seconds of them just standing around the silence was broken by a man stepping into the clearing where they were standing.

As if on instinct, like they have been doing this forever, both boys stepped in front of Kagome in a protective stance, though they didn't know how to fight they will do all they could to make sure that she was safe.

The man had straight black hair and gold eyes with usually pale skin that made him look sick. Everything about him reminded the three children of a snake waiting in the grass to strike at its enemies. Kagome gripped onto Haku and Kimimaro's hands unconsciously when the man's eyes landed on her.

"Who are you?" called Haku tightening his hold on Kagome's smaller hand reassuring her that everything was going to be just fine.

"My name is...Orochimaru"
