It was 9 months ago that Mirabel had the worst night of her life, she had been out late helping some villagers and they had offered for her to stay for dinner. She was walking home happily while watching the moonrise when she was grabbed from behind and she couldn't fight her attacker as her arms were pinned and a strong hand kept her silent.
The family didn't notice Mirabel was missing until the next morning because they knew she would be late, but when she didn't come down for breakfast they knew something was wrong. The family quickly finished breakfast and began their search and that included Bruno who was running and searching everywhere, but then the Church bells rang telling them that she had been found which gave them all momentary relief. They all re-gathered at Casita as planned but a crowd of villagers instantly caused them great fear and worry. The villagers gathered all looking sad and forlorn making a path from town towards Casita which worried Bruno as he pushed his way through and met up with the family in front of Casita.
He turned and saw the most heart-wrenching sight as they all watched Luisa carrying the unconscious Mirabel through town bringing her back home.
Luisa held her sister in her arms wrapped in a blanket covering her shredded skirt and torn shirt hanging and blood could be seen having dried going down her bare legs and her pink shoes were gone, Luisa cried the whole way home as Julietta and Pepa followed, Mirabel's face was swollen, cut, bleeding, and bruised while her glasses were missing. Bruno stood beside Camillo and across from Agustin, Antonio, and Felix as they all saw Mirabel being brought home wondering if she was even still alive. Casita was careful in moving her tiles to bring Luisa to the Nursery faster along with clean water, soap, and towels.
The rest of the family gathered in the kitchen as Pepa and Julietta examined Mirabel. Felix held a crying ten-year-old Antonio who sat next to Camillo who was plucking the petals off of flowers in anger, Isabela was growing flowers in frustration that allowed Camilo to pluck them, Luisa was quietly sobbing as she was drying herself after cleaning her sister's blood off, Agustin was seething staring into a cup of coffee, Dolores was listening to what was going on upstairs and gave commentary as she heard, Bruno sat at the table with bright green eyes feeling his power wanting to tell him something but he was pushing it away not wanting to see anything. Alma sat at the head of the table holding Bruno's hand as she silently prayed for her Successor.
"She is awake," Dolores said solemnly catching everyone's attention as loud sobs of pain rang out in Casita. Everyone felt the pain and slowly began to cry as well.
They were all tired as the day went on, however, they perked up when Julietta walked in slowly, her usual comforting teal color apron had been covered by splotches of blood, she held up her hands as her family all stood up at her entrance and was all wanting information.
"Julietta?" Alma asked coming up with worry. Her daughter looked at her with pain etched into her face.
"How is she?" Antonio asked.
"She isn't doing well." She began as she washed her hands and grabbed a small basket then put in some of her ready-made healing foods.
"She has lost a lot of blood and whoever did this wasn't gentle or easy in the slightest, she is hurt very badly." She said also grabbing a vial of medicine and a glass to fill with water.
"Can you heal her back?" Camilo asked.
"I can heal her, but I can't replace what he stole nor can I heal the emotional wounds," Julietta said taking her wares back upstairs. They all sighed with worry and pain for their beloved Mariposa.
Suddenly a wind picked up with a male groaning, they all looked as Bruno raised his hands as he fought his vision.
"Bruno?" Alma called out worriedly.
"I am in control, I am in control, I am in control." He chanted as he pulled out sand from his poncho. They watched as he released the sand from both hands waving them in a circle making the wind swirl around carrying the sand around into the center to magically build a glass vision. He groaned out as his vision finished and he caught it before it fell, he stared at it before getting angry and looking at his Brothers and nephews.
"I've got him," Bruno said showing his family the vision.
As her father Agustin led the way followed by Felix, Bruno holding the vision, Camilo, Luisa, and they gathered other villagers as witnesses. Marching with torches heading towards the house they all knew who held the man in question.
