The Next Day.

Julietta removed the blankets from her daughter gently making Mirabel turn over with a groan at being awakened.

"Mama?" Mirabel questioned rubbing her eyes. Pepa and Julietta were looking at her solemnly as they helped her to sit up.

"Come along Mirabel," Julietta said as Casita moved Mirabel's white slippers under her feet. Mirabel winced in pain as she was moved.

"Nice and easy now," Pepa said holding onto Mirabel's hand as she stood.

"What's going on?" Mirabel asked as they helped her to walk. Instantly Mirabel felt like something was wrong as she noticed her Mother and Pepa wearing all black with black veils.

"It will be ok Mirabel," Pepa said as Julietta fixed Mirabel's new glasses. Mirabel was wearing her nightdress with a blue wrap her mother tied and her glasses had been replaced with smaller circular ones that were darker green than the others.

Pepa and Julietta helped Mirabel from her room and she looked down as the courtyard had her other family members but it was only the women and they all stood on the second floor watching her, they all wore black clothes and black veils over their faces while all holding lit candles and giving her looks of pity.

"Please, I don't want to see anyone." She said trying to go back to her room but they held strong which wasn't much considering how weak she was.

"It's gonna be ok, Mirabel," Julietta said as Luisa came up and with gentle strength, she picked Mirabel up who lightly winced in pain, it was the day after she was found and she was healing fast with her Mother's remedies but it was still a slow process.

Luisa was gentle with her walk while she carried Mirabel down to the Courtyard. Mirabel was confused as she was brought to the center of Casitas courtyard where a single cushioned chair sitting in the middle while everyone stayed in the shadows gave her space and the female members of her family stayed on the 2nd balcony, but to Mirabel, she felt like she was on trial and it made her nervous wondering if anyone actually believed her.

Luisa carefully set her tender sister in the chair slowly as she winced in pain feeling her special padding cloths move as she sat on the gentle cushion, Luisa walked back up the stairs to join the others leaving Mirabel in the center and alone which made her more nervous.

She looked around the silent crowd who all looked at her silently and she noticed Casita had made a walkway leading from her spot to the front doors. She instantly got worried about being forced to leave and started to cry and get nervous.

However Casita's doors opened catching her attention and Bruno walked in wearing black clothes with his green poncho he was followed by a large crowd of angry men from the village all wearing black clothes as well and they gathered around the courtyard all with eyes on her making her shake in fear and discomfort, she watched as Bruno walked up to her with an angry scowl on his face which made her shake in fear but unable to leave her chair, he stood before her and nodded before moving to stand beside her and resting his hand on her back. She felt comfort in his actions while the male crowd settled but still felt great anger but then she heard a scuffle and watched as the other men in her family all walked in with matching black clothes and angry scowls yanking on chains.

Mirabel cowered into her Tio's chest clutching his poncho making him wrap his arm around her for comfort was the tall muscular man they had in chains being pulled in by the chains held by the men in her family.

"He won't hurt you, Mi Carina." Bruno soothed his niece by rubbing her shoulder as she shook in fear. Her father and Tio Felix forced him to kneel just a good distance away but right in front of Mirabel.

Bruno gently left Mirabel who let him go to stand next to Agustin as they all looked at the frightened Mirabel.

"Mirabel Madrigal, can you confirm that this is the man that did you la violación?" Bruno said loudly but not accusatory against her.

"Oh please, she was begging for it and loved it so much she screamed, the whore." The man sneered in anger easily making Camilo punch him in the face. Mirabel was shaking in fear as the villagers all murmured with hate.

"Mirabel?" Bruno said gently but firmly towards her.

"We need you to confirm," Felix said making them all look at her, she shook in fear as tears fell down her face, so all she could do was nod her head and hold her wrap close for comfort.

"Yes, that's him," Mirabel confirmed with a shuddering voice.

Bruno turned towards the man.

"As The Eldest male Madrigal and head of the Encanto Men's society, you are charged with the defilement of a woman but not just any woman. You chose to defile and do la violación on a Madrigal, who is basically a Princesa" Bruno accused.

The villagers all murmured and grew to shout against the sinner.

"She is a liar she enjoyed it." He called out before Agustin tossed his hand across the man's face. Making Mirabel jump with a whimper at the sound of his voice.

"Your punishment will be taken care of by the Men's society," Bruno said with glowing green eyes.

"Princesa Mariposa?" Bruno said grabbing his frightened niece's attention.

"The men's society promises to see to his proper punishment and you won't have to think about him again," Bruno said with a loud firm voice before bowing and walking out making Felix and Agustin grab the chains and pull the man out of Casita as the Encanto Men all followed him to his unknown punishment.

Mirabel watched and shake in fear as many men passed her by giving her a bow of respect before leaving.

Once Casita was devoid of men Mirabel let out a pained sob curling into herself right before Luisa gently picked her up to carry her back to her room to rest.

It had taken 3 days for Mirabel to fully heal enough to walk properly. But it was on the third day that Julietta and Pepa came in with careful expressions. Mirabel was leaning against the wall letting her mind wander when they came in.

"His punishment is done, The men's society has castrated him and sent him to a Monastery outside of the Encanto where he will be locked inside for the rest of his days," Julietta said gently making Mirabel nod before they left her to her thoughts once again.

Casita and the women in her family took good care of her and gave her space as she needed. Though she was able to walk again and the bleeding and bruising have gone away she looked good as new, but it was her emotional and mental pain that took longer to heal. Her family gave her space, love, and understanding. Then after 3 months Mirabel was smiling again, after 4 months she was laughing, and by the 6th month, she was back to her old self.

But her progress came crashing down after 9 months.
