I own nothing but a weird brain. Enjoy
Mirabel sat at the breakfast table eating enough food for 2, her family noticed but didn't comment. Well except for Camilo.
"Mirabel you've got to stop gorging yourself you've gotten so fat," Camilo said turning into her showing her bigger belly and wider hips. Now I know what you are thinking, it could have been easily seen right? But no, her weight was gained evenly, thighs, arms, belly.
"Camilo, I am only up 2 dress sizes. Leave me alone." Mirabel said eating her 5th Arepa. Pepa, Felix, and Dolores all smacked Camilo upside the head. Which Mirabel was correct, she had gained weight but she didn't look too bad she was still beautiful even with a little more bounce. Which caught the attention of a certain someone who has always been professional. Even if a bit distant, but for the past 5 years he has come out of his shell and he has misty eyes for the girl that helped him.
"Ow." He cried looking betrayed. For 9 months now no one had ever considered that she might be pregnant, Mirabel felt fluttering in her stomach which made her think that she was just hungry. Her Period? On time nearly every month which is what she thought but it was actually minor bleeding which is normal. Nausea and vomiting was chucked up to trauma as was excessive eating, and she didn't have any ankle or finger swelling either considering how well she ate.
"Camilo, you never tell a woman that she is fat." Pepa hissed at her eldest son.
"So we have a full day. So much work to do." Abuela said gathering everyone's attention.
"The Southern city is counting on us." She said making everyone smile.
"Bruno and Mirabel are you both ok for the day? Bruno has a lot of customers scheduled for today?" Abuela asked making Bruno smile as he looked at his niece/receptionist.
"Including the The Encanto Men's society meeting this afternoon." Mirabel reminded them with a smile.
"Yup we're ok, you all go and have a great time building The Southern City," Bruno said happily nodding towards Mirabel who nodded back.
"Very good. So then La Familia Madrigal." Abuela said making everyone repeat joyfully.
~o~O~o~
After breakfast had been cleaned up, Mirabel and Bruno waved away their family as they left for the day. Heading to Southern City building Encanto bigger and better.
"Alright, you got this kid. I am heading up to the tower." Bruno said waving before walking away.
"Ok Boss I will have Casita let you know when you have someone coming," Mirabel said with a smile.
"Thank you." He shouted entering his room. Then their full day started. Mirabel held a slab of wood with her paper on it as people started arriving at Casita. She made sure everyone was comfortable as they waited their turn giving each water to help calm nerves and taking payments from people as they left with their green glass visions in hand.
Mirabel let the latest arrival get settled in the waiting area that Casita set up by moving couches and chairs in the Courtyard.
"Ok, and would you like some water while you wait?" Mirabel asked.
"Yes please." The young man said looking nervous.
"Ok, Casita will bring that right to you," Mirabel said walking away but then she had to stop as a small twinge fluttered her abdomen.
"Ooh." She hummed at the feeling before she continued on with her duties
Lunch had come around after the last appointment left for the day. Casita had pulled out a spread for her and Bruno as she locked away the money but then she felt the second twinge.
"Ooh." She cooed rubbing the spot on her hip.
"Ooh, lunch is served," Bruno said happily entering the dining room making Mirabel ignore the twinge.
"Yup, better fill up the Men's Society will be here within the hour," Mirabel said sitting in her usual spot at the table with him as they ate happily and they chatted about their clients.
Mirabel felt another twinge after they finished lunch and Mirabel was washing the dishes, Bruno had already gone back to his room to get ready for the Men's Society meeting. Both had gone out to the courtyard as they heard thunder and wondered if Pepa was back but the sky was darkening on its own showing a storm was coming.
"It is close to that time, must be the early cramps." She said to herself before going over to a special red jar on a shelf. Opening it she saw her Mother's special chocolate cookies that were only meant for times like these. She reached in and grabbed 2.
"Casita a glass of water please?" Mirabel asked putting the jar back as she sat down on a chair and put her tired feet up with a groan. She sat there and finished the chocolate-loaded cookies and drank the water easily making her feel better. She wasn't sure how long she sat there but when she heard the male voices traveling through she decided it was time to head to her room. Passing by the black-dressed men who waved at her happily she settled into her room laying on her bed she picked up an embroidery project and fiddled with it until she fell asleep.
