Mirabel laid stared into nothing her thoughts racing. It was wrong..I know it was wrong..but it felt so right. Do I regret it? No and if I could go back and change my mind I would do it again they deserve it after what they did to me but still..what would the family think of me? Do I care what they think of me? Do I care what anyone thinks of me? NO! I'm not a good person I know but is it my fault or am I just a result of someone else's design? They could of left me to live peacefully..Abuela could of just left me be..sure I wasn't happy but...it was better than this. But if the vision said I was going to turn out this way..would it of happened no matter what? Why me? What did I do to deserve this? Why did I have to become the monster? Mirabel wanted to cry out in frustration, just scream out her anger at the world but had to settle for a low growl hitting the hay underneath her in frustration.
"Mira? You're still awake?"
"Mhmm..can't sleep."
"Me neither...I been thinking about what we did tonight. I should feel remorse but I don't. It's all so confusing. I want to make them see it our way but at the same time I still feel a sense of loyalty towards them, it's silly I know but sixteen years of habit is hard to break. All those years being told to put the needs of the community above all else and sometimes that part of me speaks the loudest and it's just all so confusing. I hesitated to light that match but when I thought about what they did to me...I realised that friendship I thought I had with everyone over the years was all conditional. We had done nothing to anyone until now yet..well you know. I didn't have to light that match..I could of just put them away and taken you out of there. I wanted it just as much...maybe they are right. Maybe I really am turning into a monster." Dolores sat up shaking her head "Watching that building burn..it felt...good. I feel proud of myself..it was a thrill. Just talking about doing it is one thing but actually doing it...is another. You understand what I'm saying?"
"I understand I used to feel the expect for the loyalty towards the town thing I care not a thing for most of them. I know it's wrong but it just feels right. If they left me alone I would of left them alone but they didn't...and I can't forgive nor will I forget. Don't get me wrong I want to bring them pain, I want to see them suffer, I want them to realise what it's like to be me. See the world from my point of view..for them to feel helpless..weak...vulnerable. Destroy their precious Encanto they didn't earn any of it..the miracle was for OUR family not them and they took our families blessings to use for their own benefit. And worse...Abeula encourages it." Mirabel tapped her hand on the ground "It was Madrigals that created the Encanto...and so it shall be Madrigal's that destroy it."
Dolores laid back down "We won't be able to do this without harming anyone...people are going to get hurt, Mira. Wherever we intend it or not."
"I know...and you know what? A bit of bloodshed...kinda works for me..." a yawn escaped her as she closed her eyes.
A bit of bloodshed...kinda works for me Dolores sucked in a breath when she heard that. Why did that surprise her though? She was willing to do it to her own family so why would the town that tortures her be spared? And she has openly admitted it many times..so why did it still surprise her? She would of pulled her off Alma that day if she had too..she would of pulled her off Isabela if she saw it. But if it was someone from town would she stop her? Would she want to stop her? She was entertained by watching Mirabel strangle Alma...she enjoyed it. What does that say about her? If Mirabel should wrap her hands around anyone's throat it should be you two. She said that to Rafael and Alejandro. But did she mean it? Or was she just reacting to the moment? No...I meant it. I basically admitted I want Mirabel to kill them and she had no doubt Mirabel would happily do so. If Alma was her biggest enemy for the emotional wounds those two were the biggest for the physical wounds..they tortured Mirabel for no reason other than sick pleasure now Dolores is also a target. Believe me we can make your deaths look like accidents...if they find your bodies at all. Those two would kill them given the chance and feel no remorse and if caught..they wouldn't be punished. The town would probably thank them for doing them all a favour for getting rid of the duo. What is my life now? she wondered yawning..she was too tired for this "Still awake, Mira?" when she got no response she closed her own eyes letting sleep claim her.
...
Being woken up in the middle of the night by her mother banging on her door to be greeted by townspeople standing in their courtyard pleading with her to put out a fire was the last thing Pepa expected. But here she was standing outside of town in her nightgown arms folded as she let it rain over the town soaking the building that had been engulfed by flames. Félix at her side for emotional support.
The first sight of seeing the building burning made her freeze in shock, what would of caused such a blaze? She could hear the whispers of suspicion that the fire was intentionally lit. She glanced around the commotion had woken up everyone in the area with lights on everywhere.
Alma was trying to keep order "Calm down everyone, Pepa has the fire under control it won't spread any further. There's no way the building will be abled to be saved we will have to tear it down and start again."
"This had to have been on purpose! There was nothing in there that would of caused the fire. We had all those arson attacks ten years back..we never caught who did it. Maybe they are back at it they are probably standing amongst as right now."
Alma closed her eyes shaking her head as everyone starting shooting each other suspicious glances "We must not go accusing each other, we must remain strong as a community. But believe me if we do find out who did this as leader of the community and guardian of the Encanto I will see to it justice gets served..I hope they find a jail cell to their liking as they'll be staying there for a fair while."
Good luck finding them. Pepa thought to herself angrily doubt anyone is going to admit to doing it. Call her selfish but her first concern was of her daughter. She and the others in Casita would be safe Casita would see to that but Dolores...if this is going to be a repeat of those attacks what if that barn gets targeted knowing the pair stays there. That barn was made out of wood and packed full of hay and straw one spark would set the whole place alight. All it would take is for one person to throw a match through a window and that will be the end..both Dolores and Mirabel would be trapped the windows too small to actually climb out through..trapped to be roasted to death by the flames or crushed to death from a barn caving in on them whatever would come first. Just the thought of having to dig her only daughters body out of burnt rubble..no..no she didn't want to think about it.
Félix sensing her growing anxiety put his arms around her looking into her eyes "It's okay mi vida..we are fine..everyone will be fine...just focus with me..one..two..one..two."
"One..two..one..two.." Pepa repeated meeting his eyes "Is the fire out yet? I want to go home."
"Yes the fire is out." Alma approached then slowly "Good work." turning around "Everyone please head back to your beds I'll come speak with you all once daylight comes." without waiting for a response she placed her arm around her daughters shoulders "Come, Pepa we'll get you back to bed. You did a good thing tonight."
"You think it was lit on purpose?" Félix asked
"Most likely..if this was caused by something natural it sure is a freak occurrence. But without evidence we can't name anyone as the culprit." Alma paused "Believe me if we do find out who it was they will be punished."
If whoever did this hurts my daughter they won't live long to worry about any other punishment. Pepa promised herself she just hoped this was just a once off thing...a prank taken too far. Cause the last thing they all needed was for a repeat of what happened all those years ago...everyone in fear that their home will be the next thing to go up in flames. Would some peace for more than just one day be to much to ask?
Why yes...yes it would.
...
Mirabel couldn't remember the last time she was so entertained watching as the townspeople argued amongst themselves, pointing fingers and accusing each other of being one to light the fire. "Haha this is the best, and no one suspects us a bit."
Dolores found herself also enjoying the scene in of her she wouldn't lie it was entertaining to watch "They so busy arguing amongst themselves no one has even noticed we are here..our names haven't been mentioned as suspects."
"But our goal has been archived. They'll be so paranoid they won't know what to expect next. They'll never know when we are going to strike next..everything will seem all calm and quiet again...but then we shall deliver our next surprise." Mirabel hummed "And even if they do suspect us..well with no evidence there's nothing they can do."
"I threw the matches into the bushes..even if they find them they could of belonged to anyone there was nothing left to tie us to the crime."
"You know how you said you hesitated to do it? If you could go back in time would you still agree to doing it in the first place?"
The question caught Dolores off guard "Honestly? Yes...but like I said last night..it's all so confusing. On one shoulder the angel is telling me that it's wrong..don't do it. But the Devil on the other side is telling me do it..they deserve it. Lately that Devil is winning."I'm faced before two paths..one full of light in which I follow all the morals I grown up with. The other is shrouded in darkness in which I follow you down this path of evil deeds. I know I agreed to it...encouraged you even...I told myself constantly that I'll stay with you even if this what it leads to...but now it's actually happening...I guess I can talk the talk but not walk the walk."
"You're a better person than me, Dolores I'll give you that."
"I'm so so confused. Some days I just want to dish out some vengeance and others...I just want us to live peacefully. I know what option you have settled on..you won't be happy with just destroying the magic your anger doesn't end at the doors of Casita. You're no longer sad...just angry. You're done shedding tears, done hiding away...you're fighting back."
"Indeed. What you do it is up to you Dolores. You're going to have to make a choice though..in the game of vengeance theres no room for hesitation. But I know you know very well that anything associated with me is now also associated with you. Besides...do you really want to let them all get away with it? You want to leave peacefully? Well unless we do something we will never live peacefully..we'll be living in fear looking over our shoulders. Pushed around, kicked when we are already down..no no Dolores no more of that. I have no reason to show them mercy but every reason to destroy everything they love." Mirbael curled and uncurled her hand "I would of loved to just live a normal life...but that's just not what fate decided for me. I'm headed to Hell anyway so might as well have some fun before I do." with a quiet chuckle she turned away stalking off back towards their barn.
Dolores glanced over towards the townspeople completely unaware that the one that they should be worrying about had been watching them. The Mirabel now seemed so different than the Mirabel that first came to talk with her in her bedroom. Was that an act? Was this the real Mirabel all along? The Mirabel she saw and the Mirabel the rest of the family did were like two different people. Their Mirabel..while spiteful and sarcastic still showed her innocence. There was nothing innocent about the Mirabel she saw when they were alone...no..her Mirabel seemed to delight in the cruelty she chooses to inflict..serious crime was nothing but a game. All those outbursts she witnessed..were they just cases of her true nature slipping through breaking the act she put on? Shaking her head Dolores turned to follow Mirabel. It was a vicious cycle..someone would do something to anger Mirabel..Mirabel would get angry...react which would make someone do something else to her in response. Never ending. Dolores knew had to make the choice..stop just talking about it but than hesitating either she commits to this or she doesn't. She wanted vengeance..burning that building..was thrilling. Mirabel didn't make her do a thing..she made the choice..she lit the match and started the blaze. That was all on her.
"You gone quiet Dolores."
"Oh...I've been thinking. You're right...I got a choice to make. I wanted to see that building burn...I enjoy turning my old gift against everyone for my own gain. But later when I think about it...I wonder...what have I done?"
"Only you know what the right choice is for you. But from your own actions...I would say you maybe you have being living in a lie your whole life. And in reality.." Mirabel stopped turning around smiling smugly and placed a hand on Dolores's shoulder "You're just like me. Morally? Yes it's wrong. But you know it's right. You admitted it yourself, you want it too. For years you been cast aside...always second best but no more...it's time for Dolores to take the lead wouldn't you say? You can lie to yourself and say you're still a good person. Better than me? Sure you at least feel some remorse. But good person? Good people don't blackmail, good people don't steal...and good people certainly don't set buildings on fire." Mirabel shook her head "You and I...we are same. Tainted the pair of us." Mirabel turned around to continue walking "But like I said..your call I won't judge you."
She's...right. Who am I to kid to myself. Feeling bad about it later doesn't change the things I do. And I want to do those things. Am I losing my mind? No no..I'm perfectly sane..thank you. No I'm doing these things just because I can..because I like it. She always felt closer to Mirabel than Isabela or Luisa..or even her hermanos. The pair of them just...clicked. Maybe what Mirabel said was correct..they were the same. Pepa's oldest and Julieta's youngest working as one. They could of lead the Encanto to a new era of prosperity..but of course that's not what fate decided. They were to destroy it. "I'm scared, Mira." she spoke up out of nowhere.
Mirabel paused in the barn doorway looking back over her shoulder "Of what?"
"Myself."
"Yourself?"
"I don't know what I'm capable of...what if I just lose control..what if I just snap and in blinded rage seriously hurt someone just like-"
"Just like me?" Mirabel scoffed "Lolo...that won't happen to you."
"Lolo...it's been so long since you called me that...but how can you be sure?"
"Just trust me. That won't happen to you...I won't let that happen to you. I won't let people hurt you like I have been. Nor to anyone I care about."
Dolores was just about to enter the barn after her when she heard her name being called turning to see Señor and Señora Pérez walking towards her "Ah, buenos dias Señor..Señora." seeing a third person behind them she mentally groaned but kept her tone cheerful "Abuela."
"Doña Alma came to ask if we knew anything about the fire last night. I'm afraid we don't." Señora Pérez explained waving as Alma split ways and moved down the path.
"What fire?"
"You and Mirabel haven't been to town today?"
"No." Dolores lied "What fire? What was burnt?"
"The new shop they been building outside of town went up in flames last night, we are all pretty sure it was arson. We are trying to figure out who did it. Many folks thinking it's connected to the string of arson attacks back in 1940..you probably remember that a little bit don't you?"
Dolores shrugged "A little..I was only eleven and most of the details were kept from us kids but we all knew something was wrong. I know Mamá was called out a lot to put extinguish fires. You think whoever did it is back?"
Señor Pérez rubbed the top of his head "That is what we are fearing..and this barn here..well one match and this thing is a goner...so are you and Mirabel. This person..or people strike in the middle of night..you two wouldn't be able to get out."
"Um...thanks. Now we can worry about someone killing us by burning us alive in a barn."
"Oh I didn't mean to scare you." the man grinned sheepishly as his wife hit him over the head.
"Hmm..well if you don't mind I need to get back to Mirabel. She's feeling a bit under the weather today." Dolores smiled sweetly turning around but was stopped by Señora Pérez.
"Oh, the poor dear. Do you want me to come look at her? Just make sure all is well?"
"No no..she is fine just needs to sleep it off. If she gets worse or I start getting concerned I know where to go knocking."
"If you're sure."
"I am, good day to the both of you." flashing one last smile she waved ad the couple made their way down to the town and entered the barn "Mira they really don't suspect us at all." she plopped down next to Mirabel grinning "You probably wouldn't remember much of all the burnings ten years back they think it's all connected. So unless we were burning down buildings ages eleven and five and I've just forgot about it we will bet getting away scot free."
Mirabel laughed in delight "Oh this is great news...great news."
"Satisfied?"
"For now." Mirabel chuckled "For now...we are off to a wonderful start. Though I'm really surprised no one suspected us...you would think the devil herself and her little sidekick would be at top of the list. Not I'm complaining."
"My guess is they are not expecting us to actually fight back in such a way. I mean I have blackmailed shopkeepers..but that was in exchange for food. No one would expect us to go from that to setting things on fire."
"Which what made it so perfect..no one saw it coming. That's where we'll strike...where they least expect it." Mirbael turned her head as Salomé scampered over to her "Wouldn't you just agree, Salomé?"
Salomé stared at the girl with wide adoring round eyes letting out a loud meow.
"I'll take that as yes."
Dolores glanced sideways at Mirabel's grinning face. You and I...we are same. Tainted the pair of us. "What is next exactly?"
"I do not know. What I need to do is talk to Tío Bruno."
"He's doing visions in town tomorrow."
"WHAT? How did you know?"
"Abuela announced it in town this morning while you went off to speak with Luisa."
"Why didn't you say something?"
"I haven't had a chance to before now! You can't confront him in the middle of town anyway...oh...you mean after..of course of course."
Mirbael rubbed her hands together "There's our plans for tomorrow...we will just borrow him for a little bit...we don't want a vision...yet. Just a chat with his lovely sobrinas" she stood up to go gaze out the window smiling.
"By the way...something you said last night...what do you mean?" Dolores asked with a hint of hesitance "You said a bit of bloodshed kinda works for you...what do you mean by that exactly?"
"I'm not going to run around attacking people on the streets randomly if that's what Im thinking. I'm not an idiot, Dolores."
"I never said you were. Yesterday you also said you weren't above going physical. I know you're hiding something from me. You have something planned." Dolores walked over to the other girl holding a hand out "Please tell me...por favor hermanita."
Mirabel just shook her head "I'm not hiding anything."
Dolores folded her arms "Than look at me and say it." a frown spread across her face when Mirabel refused "You have something planned for Rafel and Alejandro don't you?" when she saw Mirabel tense up she knew she had her answer "You do."
Mirabel turned around sighing "Don't get me wrong I want to kill them..to have their life in my hands. Rest of the town? Teach them a lesson sure but kill them? No even I know that's going overboard. But those two...they don't deserve to live."
"So what, are you plotting a murder now?"
"I never said I would actually do it. It's just a...great temptation."
Dolores just shook her head as Mirabel walked past her smiling softly as if they were talking about the sunny weather not about a potential murder plot. She needed fresh air, she needed to sort out her thoughts "I might go for a walk..coming?"
"Nah, I'll stay here. Don't worry I won't run away on you..and if it makes you feel better I'll lock the door."
"Alright. I'll try not to be too long."
Mirabel waved her off "Take your time." she followed Dolores to the door "Go and take some time to yourself. You deserve it." she gave her a brief hug.
"Don't burn the barn down while I'm gone." Dolores joked with a small wave.
"Very funny."
Dolores waited until the door closed and she heard the sound of the lock latching into place before heading down the path. Just some nice peaceful quiet time..just what she needed. She had a lot to sort out.
...
Dolores was happily leaning against a fallen log knees tucked to her chin. The gentle breeze having a calming affect at peace, if she closed her eyes it was if she was the only person on earth. No worries, nothing to trouble her just..content.
"Dolores!"
She should of known it would of been too good to last. She opened her eyes but didn't look back at the person calling her. Ugh...go away.
Isabela huffed and advanced towards her "Dolores I need to talk to you. But I can never catch you alone without Mirabel."
"Mirabel isn't here now is she?"
Isabela hesitated for a moment before sitting down next to her and pulling Dolores's hood off her head "We need to talk. And stop wearing that hood you look ridiculous."
"You say you want to talk and you open with an insult..great work." Dolores rolled her eyes "Fine, speak before I change my mind and just smack you across the face for what you did to Mirabel instead."
"I didn't mean to do that to her!"
Dolores just scoffed "So you 'accidentally' left her to die? How does that work exactly, Isabela? You 'accidentally' ran away knowing she couldn't see? You 'accidentally' slandered both our names? How about I 'accidentally' punch you in the face? You're lucky I found her in time..you're lucky your madre could heal her otherwise her death would of been on you. And I would of never of forgiven you Isbaela."
Isabela took a deep breath to calm herself "I didn't realise she was that badly hurt! Why would I leave my own sister to die on purpose?"
"Well you said it yourself Mirabel wasn't your sister. Mira is my hermanita now. You gave up the right to call her that a long time ago. You don't want her? Fine, I do."
"She's not your sister! She's mine!"
"By blood she may be my prima. But where it actually matters she is my sister. The best sister anyone could ever ask for. You don't deserve her you selfish brat."
Rage filled Isabela's face as she stood up "I'm selfish?! How dare you! If anyone is selfish it's YOU!"
Dolores laughed "How am I the selfish one? I gave up everything. EVERYTHING! I'm twenty one I'm basically acting as the mother to a fifteen year old. It hasn't been you at Mirabel's side it's been me. All you care about is your stupid flowers and Abuela. You ratted me out and got me thrown to the streets just to please her like the good little pet you are."
"It's called loyalty! You should try it sometime."
"You would find I am actually quite loyal..I just had been loyal to the wrong person. My allegiance with Mirabel is not betrayal..but merely righting a wrong. I'll protect Mirabel from anyone who wants to harm her.." Dolores stood up getting right into Isabela's face "Including you, grow up Isabela. For a grown woman you still act like a petty child."
Slap.
Dolores stumbled back her cheek stinging from the hit "Really? Hitting me now? Is it a fight you want? I'm not Mirabel I have more strength and trust me I can do more damage. I don't want to fight you Isa. But believe me it's not below me."
"What's happened to you? You're not the Dolores I grew up with."
"Maybe I've changed or maybe this is the real me. Who knows? All my life I been living in your shadow. It was always 'be more like Isabela' or 'why can't you be more like Isabela' nothing I ever did was good enough. I was made to stand quietly on the side while you took the spotlight. It was always about YOU."
"AND YOU'VE ALWAYS BEEN JEALOUS OF ME!" Isabela shrieked not even thinking what she was saying "You never been anyone's first choice. And now you're the bottom of society, nothing but a little outcast, You'll die nothing but a pathetic little nobody...just like Mirabel-" a sudden rush of pain as Dolores made contact with her nose. Dammit Isabela...you did it again. Idiot idiot idiot. She held her bleeding nose and took a step back not taking her eyes off Dolores's rage filled ones "Lolo...I didn't mean-"
"No, you just never meant to say it out loud. Do you ever think before you speak?"
"I'm sorry..I've been under a lot of stress and..."
"Oh I'm sure being loved by everyone and is sooo stressful. Please do take my pity." Dolores folded her arms.
"I really didn't mean it.."
Dolores just brushed her off "Oh save it, I know exactly who put those thoughts into your head-Abuela. For God's sake Isabela think for your damn self. You can keep living in your fantasy world where everything is blue skies and pretty roses or you can move into the real world with the rest of us. It's your call."
Isabela tried to reach out with her free hand "Lolo..please..I'm sorry..."
"Don't call me Lolo." Dolores snapped back "...just go back home where everyone worships the ground you walk on. Surely Señorita Perfecta Isabela can't be seen hanging out with a ruffian such as myself. Like you said..bottom of society."
"Dolores..."
Dolores sighed heavily "Isabela...please...go home to Casita where you belong. Sorry about your nose..it's a..reactive thing..important for survival on the streets."
Isbaela paused for a moment but Dolores's glare sent her scurrying away still holding onto her nose.
Might as well head back myself..Mirabel will start wondering. It would mean making her way through town but hopefully her trip back would be as uneventful as the first time around. No such luck.
She could see the glares she got, hear the things they directed her way.
"Devil's helper."
"Ruined."
"Traitor."
"Demon."
"Just like Mirabel."
"Tainted."
Dolores let out a low angry growl. Why couldn't they just leave her alone? Why couldn't they just leave Mirabel alone? For what felt like the hundredth time that day Dolores's thoughts drifted to the idea of revenge. She had done nothing to them to make them treat her like this, her actions were the result of their own. I have no reason to show them mercy but every reason to destroy everything they love. Mirabel's words rang in her head but in the form of her own voice, the more she thought about it the more steps she took away from that light path down that dark one. It was Madrigals that created the Encanto...and so it shall be Madrigal's that destroy it. Destroy it, stop hesitating. I want this..I want-
She was cut off from her thoughts when she felt her legs being taken out from underneath her, startled she put her wrist out to try and catch herself pain shooting in it when it made contact with the ground. ¡Mierda! ¡Mierda!. Holding onto her what she guessed was broken wrist she tried to stand just to be shoved back down out of the corner of her eye she could see people gathering watching the scene unfold but no one offering her any aid.
"Dolores."
At the all to familiar taunting voice Dolores managed to scrambled to her feet still holding onto her fist. "Rafel! Alejandro! What the hell is your problem with me? Vete a la mierda par de bastardos!"
"You just don't know when to shut up do you?" Alejandro cackled "Our problem with you is that you're in allegiance with Mirabel."
"And what's your problem with Mirabel?"
"She is the reason Rafel and I lost our mother!"
"The death of Señora López was not Mirabel's fault. She choose to jump in that river to pull Mira out. She knew how strong the currant was. She gave her life up for Mirabel."
"Exactly! If she just left that cursed little demon to drown the accident would of never of happened. Should of let her to drown no one would of missed her!"
Dolores had to resist the urge to launch herself at the man possibly injuring her wrist further "It amazes me how such a kind spirted woman raised such despicable men as sons. You must take after your father...whoever he is."
Alejandro reached forward grabbing her injured wrist squeezing cause the woman to scream out in pain "Oh..Dolores..Dolores...Dolores..you have become so bold...but so stupid. I think it's time we give you the Mirabel treatment...don't you think, so hermano?"
Rafel nodded "Don't worry it won't take long..Mirabel knows that. It'll hurt though."
No...no..no..no..no... Dolores slowly started backing away pleading in her mind please...someone...help me...Mamá...Tía...Luisa...help me please. No one was coming to her rescue they just stared she turned her head towards them "What are you doing? HELP ME! I helped you all these years." no one moved "COWARDS! TRAITORS! DAMM YOU ALL!" her back hit a wall she could only watch in growing horror as her attackers slowly drew closer. Fight back. She raised her injured arm swinging it down but it never met it's target caught mid air by Rafel. "Let me go...or..."
"Or what?"
"I hear everything, remember? I know all your dirty little secrets. One more hand on me and I talk."
Alejandro shook his head "If you value Mirabel's life you won't say a damn thing about us."
"You will not touch Mirabel." Dolores hissed "You will not even look at her. Takes a real coward of a man to pick on a teenaged girl...but then again you started when she was just ten..and you can't even say that was because of your mother's death. She was still alive then. You attacked her just because you could." she tried to pull away from the wall but found she couldn't move. I'm pinned. Whimpering quietly from as her injured wrist was pressed against the wall.
"You in pain? Good. Maybe we'll just leave you like this for a bit longer."
It seemed like an eternity before she was finally released and allowed to drop to the ground and the two men retreated. The pain burning her wrist being overcome with the feeling of anger. They...they just stood there and watched-AGAIN. Pulling herself back to her feet she she made her way back to the barn constantly checking over her shoulder she wasn't being followed. With each step her anger grew...how could she of been so stupid to think she should show this town pity. They clearly didn't show her any..well most of them..the few good hearted in souls in this town would of helped her in a heartbeat...the Pérezs and the Guzmáns always had a kind word for the pair. Always making sure they were okay. And of course if her own family was there it would of never happened to begin with. You want to leave peacefully? Well unless we do something we will never live peacefully..we'll be living in fear looking over our shoulders. Pushed around, kicked when we are already down. "You're right Mirabel...I'm...just..afraid." she whispered to herself stopping outside the barn door "Mirabel?"
The sound of the lock being undone was followed by the door swinging open "Dolores?" Mirabel stood there shocked at what she was greeted with "What happened? You're hurt." she reached out her hand hovering just about the wrist "That looks broken.."
"It feels broken..."
Mirabel immediately turned to grab something from their supply basket "What happened, Dolores?" she asked again as she handed over an arepa taking in the quietly sobbing face of her prima "You're in pain...eat please. I'll get you a cup of water. Just sit down."
Dolores despite the pain couldn't help but smile at the reversal of their roles and sat down at their table eating the healing food and sighing with the instant relief nodding in thanks when a cup of water was plonked down in front of her.
"It was Rafel and Alejandro wasn't it?"
"Yes.."
"And everyone else just stood back and watched didn't they?"
"Yes..."
Mirabel shook her head "See what I mean, Lolo? They don't care for us at all. Why should we show them mercy when they show us none? They want a fight? Let's bring them a war."
Dolores knew Mirabel was right the town didn't know it but their actions today had helped her decide on their fate. She was helpless, begging them for help..just one soul..just one to speak up in her defence. But not one person..not one. If anything they were enjoying the show. Enjoying watching her beg and plead for their help. No more.
"I know..no more hesitation...let's destroy the Encanto."
I have decided this takes place in the year 1950 based on a deleted scene I watched a while back where Pedro had a mural and the year of his death on it was 1900 and since this all is supposed to be 50 years later..we get 1950. With the Encanto being isolated from everything else they are pretty much frozen in time and haven't advanced. Not saying that time is canon but it's what I'm going to roll with.
And I am aware Mirabel is acting like a total a-hole but girl's been through shit.
Villain Mirabel and Dolores is going to be fun to write though.
And yes both will get a chance to redeem themselves in the end.
But first..a talk with Bruno. Poor Bruno don't know what's coming for him.
Rafel and Alejandro are basically the counterpart to Mirabel Dolores...just while the girls are are against the town and Alma. The boys side with the town and Alma. And Mira wants to kill them which so far in my plans is under 'undecided if happening or not' cause it would make her a murderer.
Review responses
ZE40: For now they most likely will stick to sneaking around to build up the paranoia and mistrust. At some people however they do want the town to who they are the ones doing it and why they are doing it.
KaliAnn: They know they are wrong but feel they are right. Dolores know they did s serious thing that's why she was so conflicted.
Z-King: And it's gonna get worse.
