"Any sign of them?"

"No."

Pepa and Julieta had checked everywhere they could think of trying to find their daughters only to come up empty handed there was not a trace of them anyway. They were starting to believe what everyone thought impossible-they left the Encanto.

"They left." Julieta murmured "That or...they're...dead."

Thunder crashed overhead as Pepa frantically shook her head "No no no. If they were dead we would of at least found their bodies...right?"

"Unless they have been buried somewhere." Julieta began pacing "But if they were killed by would their stuff be gone? It would make no sense for anyone to kill them, bury the bodies than go back and take some clothing and dirty blankets. No they left the valley...somehow. You know they were talking about leaving they must of found a way out."

"That cat of Mirabel's is gone as well." Pepa commented "No they weren't killed, I think you're right and they left. Mamá said she saw them at about 9:30am. The horses were reported missing at about 12:00pm so at some point between Mamá seeing and the horses being found missing they packed up and left."

"But why? Why would they just leave like that? I fail to believe they would just abandon everyone like that and run." Julieta stopped her pacing "They have to come back...they have to come back..."

Pepa placed a hand on her hermana's shoulder "If I know those two they will be back and telling us of their exciting adventure outside of the Encanto."

"I hope you're right Pepa. They would be together...they'll be fine."

Smiling Pepa let out a small chuckle "Don't get me wrong though, they better have a good explanation ready when they get back. I'll be putting a leash on the both of them."

Dolores could not believe her eyes, she had never seen anything like this in her life as they entered the city. Her mouth was wide open as she took in their surroundings there were people everywhere. "You okay back there, Mirabel?"

Mirabel was hiding her face in Dolores's back "No. I can't see what's happening all I can hear is people...a lot of people."

"You'll be fine hermanita. I won't let anything happen to you I promise." though Dolores reassured her as they moved forward. People called out to them but what surprised both Dolores and Mirabel were the things they were saying.

"Buenas tardes, señoritas."

"Hello young ladies."

"You two have a fine day."

No insults, no threats just polite greetings. Dolores did notice they got a few strange looks but quickly realised just how much they stood out. Compared to everyone else the pair looked really roughed up. She saw looks of sympathy shot their way.

"Oh look at those poor dears they must of have traveled so far."

An automobile went by them driver beeping the horn causing the horse they were on to jump to the side in fright "Whoa whoa whoa girl. Easy girl easy.." Dolores stroked the mares neck. Thankfully their packhorse remained calm.

"What was that?" Mirabel asked shaken herself.

"I have no idea..' Dolores stared as another one went past "It's like a wagon but there's no horse or donkey pulling it it's just moving by it's self."

"What kind of place is this?" Mirabel was startled as another one went by them horn beeping.

"You two have never seen an automobile before?"

Dolores turned to head to see a kind woman about the age of their parents and Bruno strolling towards them "Automobile? Is that what those things are?"

The woman nodded "They are becoming all the rage in the cities, where are you two lovely dears from if I may ask?"

"Oh..we come from a very rural area far away from here. We don't have those...automobile things there. We use horses and donkeys."

Nodding in understanding the woman smiled again "Ah I heard of those places, they still like to live the old fashioned way. Such a simple yet pleasurable life. Well welcome to the wonderful city of Bogotá. I'm María Cortez, my I have your names?"

"I am Dolores Madrigal. And this is my hermanita Mirabel Madrigal."

Mirabel poked her head around Dolores causing María to gasp in shock when she saw her face.

"Oh what happened to you? Oh you poor poor thing."

"House fire five years ago. I got out just fine but Mirabel got trapped, a rescue was successful but not before she suffered severe facial burns as you can see it has left her horribly scarred for life. And it destroyed her eyes beyond repair, she's completely blind. Can't see a thing."

"Oh you poor little darling." María looked like she just wanted to pull Mirabel off the horse and mother her "Where is the rest of your family? Your mother?"

"We been separated. I've been raising Mirabel on my own..it's been really hard." María looked so heartbroken on their behalf that it made Dolores feel guilt about lying to her.

"Do you two have anywhere to stay?"

"No...we were just going to find somewhere under cover and sleep on the street."

"I will not have you two sleeping on the streets. I run a hotel with my husband Andrés. We'll get you a room and we do have a stable for your horses, we still do get guests who come by horse or donkey."

Dolores shook her head "We have no money to pay you-"

María held up her hand "No payment required. It's all on the house. Your room, food, stable care for your horses...it's all free."

Tears of disbelief filled Dolores's eyes from the kindness this stranger was giving them "Gracias...you have no idea how much this means to us Señora Cortez."

"Oh please call me María." María beamed at them "And no need to thank me no decent human being would leave you poor dears to sleep on the street starving-oh I see you have another friend with you."

Dolores was confused for a moment until she heard meowing she admit she totally forgot about Salomé who had napped the whole trip here "Oh that's Mirabel's pet cat Salomé..she...comforts Mirabel. If you don't want her in the hotel we can find-"

"No no no it's fine. Normally we don't allow pets into the rooms but in this case we will make an expectation. Mirabel my dear you're more than welcome to bring your little Salomé with you."

Mirabel just nodded but not speaking.

Dolores was concerned about Mirabel's sudden personality change. Back in the Encanto she was never afraid to speak her mind, not afraid to make direct threats. But here in Bogotá she was shy and withdrawn and had hardly uttered a word. She's frightened. Dolores told herself she knows the Encanto well enough she's comfortable even with her poor vision..but out here it's a whole new world and she can't see a thing..it's all black for her..it must be a frightening experience especially after what she has gone through. To hear all these strange new things like those...automobiles and not being able to see what they are...I would be scared to.

"Your little sister is a quiet one Dolores."

"Oh...yeah. She gets nervous in new places and around new people because of her blindness...if you understand what I'm saying. Once she knows she's safe and you won't hurt her she'll warm up and start talking to you."

"Oh of course I understand. I promise Mirabel you are safe here in Bogotá and I'm not going to hurt you."

Mirabel just nodded again. She felt pathetic being so frightened but she couldn't help it this place was nothing like the Encanto. It was louder...noises she had never heard before and she couldn't even see what they were. All her confidence she felt in the Encanto was gone as she clung on Dolores. I'm fine...I'm fine...I'm fine. Dolores won't let anything happen to me. I'm fine.

"Well, would you two like to come along? We'll get you two fixed up with a room. It's just around the corner."

Dolores smiled "Oh yes, please lead the way." she clucked her tongue and the horses began walking forward ears flicking back and forth at the strange new noises they were hearing.

"Dolores..." Mirabel whispered so low Dolores only just managed to hear her "I'm scared." she admitted "What kind of place have we come to?"

"It's okay we're safe. No one here is going to hurt us not like back in-" Dolores cut off when she realised María could hear her.

"People have been hurting you two?" María's eyes rose in shock.

Dolores nodded "Ah yeah...we been chased...tripped...hit...got death threats..."

María's hand flew to her mouth "Oh you poor poor darlings...where have you two been living?"

"We have been sleeping in a barn so we have shelter. But we are homeless." Dolores admitted that wasn't a lie after all.

"In that case gracias a Dios I found you two. You will not be sleeping in a barn tonight I ensure you."

"Why are you helping us?" Mirabel spoke to her for the first time but there was fear in her voice "Is this a trick?"

"No trick my little darling. You're safe now I promise." the trio had arrived outside a tall building "This is Hotel Paraíso you may stay as long as you need." María cleared her throat "Andrés!"

A man made his way out the door "Yes, mi amor?" he spotted Dolores and Mirabel "Ah hello young ladies. Who may you two be?"

María smiled "This here is Dolores Madrigal and her hermanita Mirabel Madrigal. They are not from around these parts they have traveled from one of those rural villages, they have no money and nowhere to go and I won't be able to sleep tonight knowing they are on the streets. I offered them the full package on the house. Mirabel the poor darling is blind we can't leave them on the streets." she turned back to the two "Girls this is my husband Andrés."

Andrés reached out and shook Dolores's hand "Is it lovely the meet you Dolores. And you too Mirabel." his smile fell into a look of pity when his eyes met Mirbael's face "Oh my."

"House fire." Dolores said quickly sensing Mirabel was getting uncomfortable "The scars are from the burns she suffered same fire destroyed her eyes and took her vision."

"Oh I see, well mi amor you are right we can't leave them on the streets. We have a room for the both of you. Come in come in, we'll help with your bags and get your horses tended to."

When Mirabel released her hold Dolores dismounted and slowly helped Mirabel down "You okay Mira?"

"I'm fine..it was just a long ride." Mirabel replied "Feeling a little sore..."

Dolores chuckled "That is natural. Well the lovely María and Andrés are going to get us a room so you can lay down for a while." rubbing Mirabel's shoulder she moved around to their packhorse and began removing the bags not that they had much.

"Allow us to take those." Andrés starting grabbing them "You just help your sister."

"Gracias truly...we could never repay your kindness." Dolores returned to Mirabel's side and whispering into her ear "See? Things are going just fine, just let me keep doing the talking."

"Allow me to take your horses." another man had walked up to them "I'm Marcos Sánchez I manage the hotel stables. Please do allow me, you young ladies just go rest up."

Dolores watched 'their' horses get led away as she placed an arm around Mirabel's shoulder "Come now hermanita." she followed the couple into the building guiding Mirabel along "Careful here Mirabel theres some stairs just take it nice and slow."

Mirabel felt around until she felt the railing grasping onto it slowly making her way up the small set of stairs. This sucks..but I'm going to have to learn to live like this so this is good practice. She would of tripped on the last step if not for Dolores supporting her.

"You can let go of the rail now."

Mirabel let go taking a deep breath. I can do this...I can do this. I want to get revenge on a whole town and I'm scared of going into a hotel...whatever a hotel is. I'm fine I'm fine. Dolores will look after me.

The pair stepped into the building Dolores gasping "This place is like a palace!"

María chuckled "Glad you like it."

"What does it look like Dolores?" Mirabel asked in wonder.

"Oh it's beautiful. There's this gorgeous chandelier above our heads and all the furniture looks so new. And right ahead of us is the fanciest staircase I have ever seen."

"More stairs? How many?"

"Oh...a few.." Dolores looked up at the stairs and back towards Mirabel "You're going to struggle a bit...but if we take it slow..."

"Do we have to go up the stairs?"

"I'm afraid so." Andrés answered "All the rooms are upstairs. Just take it nice and easy"

Mirabel placed her foot on the first step reaching around until she found the handrail "Ok...I can do this..." it was slow but soon she was at the top "Please don't make me use more stairs today..."

"There is no more stairs." María promised "You can take the room right here." she put down a bag to open the door revealing a fairly large room with a bed big enough for the both of them a small door lead to a small private balcony that overlooked the city "The kitchen and dining hall is downstairs but I'll personally deliver your dinner up here this evening. You two need not worry. You have your own private bathroom if you wish to wash up. Do you have any night clothes?"

"Oh...no. But we can just sleep in what we got." Dolores insisted entering the room sitting Mirabel on the bed "It's fine you have done so much for us, thank you."

"Nonsense. I'll get you both a nightdress." before Dolores could protest María was gone.

"María always wanted daughters." Andrés explained "But we were unable to have children of our own. So please do bare with her, she just wants to mother the both of you."

"I see." Dolores smiled "Well we do thank you oh so much, now I don't want to be rude but if you won't mind..."

Andrés nodded in understanding "Of course I will give you two your space just come down if you need anything." he put the last bag in the room and closed the door behind him.

"Well...this is...interesting." Mirabel commented after a few moments "I think we have both just been adopted."

Dolores chuckled as she sat next to her "Only we could get ourselves into something like this. But you have to admit-this is pretty sweet." she rubbed Mirabel's back as Salomé started scampering around the bed "You're doing great by the way, it's okay that you're scared this is a whole new world for the both of us."

"When we will go back to the Encanto?"

"Honestly if it wasn't for the fact the family is back there waiting for us I wouldn't want to go back. Here we everything we could want...we're free. But we have to go back for them..we have work to do there. Once the miracle is gone and we have gotten our revenge we'll bring the family here and build us a home."

"When you build the house...please don't put to many stairs...they are harder than I thought they would be when you can't see anything."

"Oh the house will be designed with you in mind, I'll make sure of that." Dolores thought for a moment "We really should go back...but I want to find out more about this place...see if it really is suitable...oh but our mothers..." Dolores began pacing "Maybe we could go back..tell our mothers what we found and than come back here? Just go back and tell them we're safe."

Mirabel flopped back onto the bed "Whatever you want to do."

"We'll see how things look in the morning, if you want to go back we'll go back." Dolores walked onto the balcony looking over the city "This place is really incredible..even if you could see it you wouldn't believe it..I don't. This place is nothing like Alma said it was...it must of really improved."

"Of course it improved, Alma left."

Dolores chuckled "Ah that's the Mirabel I know. You went all shy and quiet on me earlier."

"I know...it's just..."

Dolores turned back around reentering the room "I understand."

Mirabel rolled over onto her stomach "Where are we again?"

"Bogotá, we are actually in the capital city of Colombia. Strangely Alma never mentioned the name of the place she came from."

"We were this close to the capital city this whole time?"

"Apparently so...could you imagine if I had my gift here though? The Encanto was loud enough but here..."

"Nice people though...real nice."

Dolores smiled "Ah yes, funny how people who known us and our family all our lives can't lift a finger to help us but complete strangers will take us in."

A gentle knock came from the door "Dolores? Mirabel? May I come in?"

"Oh of course María."

María entered a smile on her face "I managed to get you both a night dress each. I'm think I got the right sizes."

Dolores accepted the clothing with a smile "Oh I'm sure they'll fit just fine. Really you've have been too kind."

"Well I couldn't just leave you both out on the streets now could I? Anything else I can get either of you? Books? We have a hotel library downstairs, we do have some braille books for young Mirabel."

Both Dolores and Mirabel blinked in confusion "I'm sorry?" Dolores asked "You have what books?"

"You two never heard of braille books?"

"No, what is that?"

"It allows those who are blind or vision impaired to be able to read, a wonderful invention I would say."

"Oh could you bring us one of those?" Dolores was curious "Alongside a...normal book."

María beamed "Of course, I'll go see if I can find something you two will enjoy." with that she left.

"So this place has magical books I will magically be able to see and read? I'll ask again. What kind of place is this?" Mirabel shook her head "They are not going to believe us back in the Encanto. I'm not sure if I believe it."

I never realised just how isolated we were back in the Encanto...theres so much we have missed out on. Dolores thought to herself before smiling "Isn't it amazing though?

"I suppose...all this has been a nice distraction but it's only making me hate the townspeople back home even more. They don't have to treat us like they do but they do it anyway. They could be kind to us but they won't. Most of them anyway." Mirabel growled "I hate them...I can't wait until the day I can make them regret everything..." Mirabel trailed off as Salomé jumped onto her lap meowing "I'm okay Salomé..."

Dolores pulled Mirabel into a hug "Hey..just think of this. To them we have just disappeared...vanished into thin air. Just think of their faces when we come strolling back into town."

The thought of that did put a smile on Mirabel's face "Oh and that of Alma's when she sees we are back. Probably throwing a little party thinking she has won and driven us off."

"Exactly...they all think we have given up but...surprise. Guess who is back?"

"They're going to be so disappointed." Mirabel snickered.

"Maybe we should stay here a few days...I'll make the apologises to our mothers and explain that this is all part of our plan...let them all think they have gotten rid of us...but oh no we are just biding our time."

The smile spread wider across Mirabel's face "I love it...I love it."

"We're going to win this, Mira. One way or another."

"Oh I know...you think our new friend María has any idea what kind of people we really are? What was it that Alma called us? Criminals?"

Dolores shook her head "Here no one knows who we really are, here our past will not matter. We can start fresh here Mirabel. We just have to keep up our act and everything will be fine. I sure do feel bad about using such kind people like this but we can't tell them the truth can we?"

"We'll be ran out of the city."

"Or thrown into jail."

"With no one knowing where we are or what happened to us...because SOMEONE forgot the note."

Dolores gently smacked Mirabel chuckling "I'm not going to live that down am I?"

"No you're not."

After a few minutes of silence another knock came from the door "It's me again, I have to meet with someone but I do have your books." María called.

Dolores got up to open the door acting like nothing had been going on "Oh, gracias." she accepted the books.

"No problem my darlings, I got you both the same book maybe you could read along together or something. Anyway I must be off dinner service starts in about two hours I'll bring you both up something. Goodbye for now." María smiled once more before disappearing down the hall.

Dolores watched her go before closing the door behind her and joining Mirabel on the bed, the first book she opened was just a regular book. The second she opened however made a look of confusion instantly spread across her face "Ummm...theres no words...just dot things."

"Dot things?" Mirabel asked "What do you mean dot things?"

"Here, this is your book." she passed it to Mirabel "She said blind people can read it so there you go."

"Is this a joke?" Mirabel growled "Cause if it is it's not funny. I was looking forward to reading." she rubbed her fingers on the page "I can feel the dots but no idea how it's supposed to let me read."

"We'll have to ask María when she comes back. She must have some idea how it's supposed to let you read."

Mirabel closed the book "Well...she said dinner is in two hours. What do we do until then?"

Dolores held up her book "I read. You listen. And if it makes you happy it's not some soppy romance this time."

Mirabel laid back on the bed making herself comfortable Salomé curling up next to her "Alright, go ahead." she could feel her fear from earlier slowly fading as she began to feel more comfortable. Of course she wasn't ready to fully trust their newfound 'friends' yet but she could at least let herself relax. They had a real room and a real bed no donkey stall for them tonight. This was a luxury and Mirabel was determined to enjoy it.

ᙙĬᙖ

"So...they left?" Luisa's heart dropped "But where would they go? And how?" she glanced over to Camilo who looked equally baffled.

"We don't know but it's the only explanation. We checked this valley twice over and theres no sign of them." Julieta ran her fingers through her hair "We must believe that they will come back to us. I know they will come back. Mirabel is stubborn she wouldn't just give up on her plan and abandon her family. Neither would Dolores. I'm sure they know what they are doing."

"Why wouldn't they say something if they planned this?" Camilo questioned.

"Maybe they thought we would try and stop them...or follow them?" Luisa offered with a shrug "Besides if Abuela knew there was a way out...she'll seal them out of the Encanto permanently."

"Exactly..." Pepa mumbled stroking her braid "I just hope they are somewhere safe...and I would like to know how they got out. They the first ones to leave the Encanto since it was formed."

Félix rubbed his forehead exhausted after touring the whole valley trying to find his daughter and niece "When you all figure it out can you let me know? I would love to know how they did it as well."

"As would I." Agustín was as usual swollen up from bee stings "No sign of them but there were so many bees..."

That brought Julieta's attention as she reached into her apron pocket and pulled out an arepa and shoved it into her husbands mouth "You and bees Agustín..."

Agustín smiled as the magic did it work and the swelling went down "Ah thank you mi amor."

"What do we say to Abuela about where they have gone?" Luisa wondered "If she knows they left the valley she will have everyone out looking for the exit and block it off before they can come back."

"Just say they couldn't be found, it wouldn't be lying. And don't tell Isabela they left the valley either...I know Isabela has been trying but your Abuela will pressure her into telling her what she knows so just keep it all hush hush." Julieta smiled sadly "I hate lying to Isabela but you know how it is. She's improving but..."

"Yeah yeah we know." Camilo chuckled "She knows how to push both Mirabel and Dolores's buttons. She managed to piss them both off in two seperate encounters."

"What about Antonio?" Luisa's face fell "He'll wanna know where his sister and cousin have gone."

Pepa thought for a moment "They have gone on a secret trip but he can't tell anyone."

"And if they never come back?"

Thunder crashed above Pepa "They'll come back...they have to come back...they just have to."

"They'll come back..they both love this family so they will be back. And no doubt they'll have quite the story to tell."

ᙙĬᙖ

"I could get used to this." Mirabel laid back on the bed a smile on her face "We're getting the full on royal treatment." she bit into her cake that had been hand delivered to their room, it seems word of their plight had gotten around and everyone wanted to help them in someway.

"Oh believe me so could I." Dolores sat at the end of the bed counting the pesos they had been donated to them "We been given a room, clothing, food, money..and once they learned about Salomé they brought us the cat food...it's unbelievable. I don't want to keep taking all these things but they pretty much throw it at us, they won't let us NOT take it so..we might as well enjoy it." she glanced over towards Mirabel "Isn't that right my poor little darling?" she snickered.

"Oh don't you start with that."

Dolores laughed "Your poor little blind child act is working perfectly."

"Well it is not really an act I am a poor little blind child...I'm just merely taking some advantages from it. Isn't that right my dear sister? Poor Dolores raising me all on your own." Mirabel laughed "Just a poor young woman struggling to raise her blind baby sister on the streets."

"Hey I keep telling them they can stop giving us stuff but they won't. It's getting a bit much wouldn't you say?"

Mirabel nodded "But I'm not complaining...still we should give some of this back. Or at least pay them back somehow...how are we going to get out of here anyway? Where will we say we are going?"

Dolores shrugged "I didn't expect it to get this far like I said only we could get ourselves into this type of situation. I'll figure something out don't worry we will get back to the Encanto. Donkeys are probably missing you right now."

"Very funny."

"Tomorrow I want us to go out and explore some...see if we can get any useful information about what life is like here."

"Awesome, I get to crash into everything in these city streets because I can't see them. Lovely."

"I'll guide you. You trust me don't you?"

Mirabel chuckled "Trusting you is the reason I'm in this situation." she joked "Of course I trust you. While we're here you're going to have to take the lead, you're the one who had been doing all the talking anyway."

"I'm in charge huh?" Dolores's face lit up for a moment "In that case stop eating cake we'll be having dinner soon. It's been a while since I got to have a proper meal..you even longer." she reached over and took the cake off Mirabel "You can have it back later. You need to eat a proper meal it'll do you a lot of good."

"You're going to enjoy this, ain't you?"

"Oh yes, but I'm just looking out for the welfare of my hermanita. You know I take this job very seriously."

"Ah you're the best hermana ever...don't tell Lusia I said that but she has to settle for being my second favourite."

"What about Isabela?"

"Camilo and Antonio can have Isabela. I traded with them-her for you."

"Do I get a say in this?"

"Nope."

Dolores laughed "How do you know it's not the other way around? Maybe I stole you off Luisa and Isabela. My hermanita now." she pulled Mirabel up into a sitting position "You smell like a barn."

"So do you. You're one to talk."

"Yeah true. I think we both need a bath after dinner. And call it an early night...long day for us tomorrow."

"Dinner time!" María called out from the door.

Dolores instantly jumped up and was at the door she was not sure what she was expecting but it wasn't this. María stood there two plates full to the brim with food. Andrés stood behind her holding a jug of juice and two cups "All that food is for us?"

"Of course, you two look like you need a good meal."

Dolores stepped aside to let them in noticing Mirabel tense for a moment when María handed her a plate but quickly relaxed nodding her thanks. "Thank you kindly." Dolores smiled taking her plate "The people around here are too kind...really it's getting kinda embarrassing."

"Oh it's no troubles darlings." María brushed her off "I told some of our other guests your story and word had quickly spread. They all want to help you out even if it's in a small way. Your plight has gained quite the sympathy around here."

"Oh by the way, María do you mind if I ask you a question?"

"Of course not Dolores, ask away."

Dolores glanced back at Mirabel "Those books...how is Mirabel supposed to read them?"

"Oh, actually I was about to tell you. A spoke to a woman I know today who would be happy to teach Mirabel and you along side her so you can help her practice. If you want to of course."

"I think we would be interested." Dolores answered for the both of them.

"Oh lovely, well we will love you two alone for the evening I do hope you both will join everyone at breakfast tomorrow. If not I'll have something sent up. Buenas noches."

"Buenas noches." Dolores and Mirabel nodded in unison and with one last smile the couple left them alone. With a small squeak Dolores joined Mirabel on the bed holding her plate of food "You right there Mirabel? Or you need help?"

"Just tell me what is what please. I can do it myself."

Dolores grabbed Mirabels hand telling what was where on her plate before letting her go and allowing her to do it herself. It was hard for Dolores to watch her struggle for a few minutes but she didn't want to take over unless Mirabel asked.

"See? I got it now."

"It'll get easier the more you do it." Dolores reassured enjoying the fact they had a real meal for dinner, not just something they pulled from their basket but an actual cooked meal. "And looks like you'll be learning to read after all."

"Hmm...maybe." Mirabel smiled a hint of excitement in her voice "I am going to need a new hobby."

"Ah yes La Diabla del Encanto. Miracle destroyer, arsonist, blackmailer, attempted murderer, manipulator, thief...book reader." Dolores chuckled "You have quite a criminal record you know."

"So do you. But you can add horse theft to your list of crimes."

"I'm just borrowing them...without asking."

"Oh that makes it SO much better." Mirabel laughed.

"Oh hush, eat your dinner and than you're having a bath."

Mirabel scoffed "Yes, mother."

The two ate the rest of their meal in silence once done Dolores dragged a protesting Mirabel into their small private bathroom helping her bathe, dry and get changed into the night dress she was given before leaving her on the bed and going back to give herself a bath and changed. Dolores would never tell Mirabel that she was wearing a light pink gown that looked like something Isabela would wear. But it sure did assume her to look at.

"Good night Dolores." Mirabel mumbled tiredly through a yawn once she was snuggled up in bed Salomé curled up next her "I'm gonna call it a night..."

"Sweet dreams Mira." Dolores smiled as the younger drifted off to sleep. Dolores on the other hand was not ready for sleep her mind was racing with thoughts as excitement rushed through her. She couldn't wait to see what tomorrow was going to bring them. Quietly so not to wake Mirabel she slid off the bed and stepped out onto the small balcony and gazed over at the city nightlife. A smile spread across her face as she took in all the bright lights glowing like stars. It was incredible. This morning she woke up in an old barn and tonight she would be going to sleep in a real city, she always dreamed of seeing the outside world and it was every bit as wondrous as she hoped.

Dolores took a deep breath as she closed her eyes a smile on her face, yes the streets were crowded and the size of the bedrooms they had back at Casita make their room here look like a closest in comparison they were...free. When Dolores looked down over the streets she saw their future, she saw their freedom.

Turning back into the room closing the door quietly behind her she stood watching Mirabel for a moment "We found it Mirabel." she whispered "We found our freedom, but we are going to have to go back. We have a promise to fulfil." her eyes narrowed "And some vengeance to deliver."

The duo are in Bogotá.
Why Bogotá?
Cause it is surrounded by mountains and hills and that's what Mira and Dolores came from.
That's my reasoning..I could of made up a city but..nah I'm not that
creative.
Obviously they will be going back to the Encanto.
Braille was invented in 1824 so no reason Mirabel can't learn it, gotta give the girl a hobby.

And yes María is just a sweetheart.
They kinda are taking advantage of her but they never expected her to go so far for them.

World'snumber1scaredycat: She is becoming like Mirabel but I have no plans on turning Dolores completely insane like Mira is. Mirabel's madness has been building up for ten years.

Z-King: Really there's nothing stopping them from just staying where they are and not looking back but they wouldn't abandon the family nor give up on their plans. So they are going to have to give their freedom back up and go back to the Encanto.

KaliAnn: They do belong in jail with their list of crimes but it is indeed like a cycle. Mirabel and Dolores are reacting to the treatment they get, others react to their actions making them treat the girls worse, as a result the girls take more drastic action and the cycle just goes on. Only way to break the cycle is for the pair to leave the valley for good or their actions catch up with them and they end up in a jail cell.

fazbear123: Thank you, this is my first fanfic and it makes me so happy it's going so well.

Guest: If you're talking about A Moment Changes Eternity while that is an AU of this I didn't write it. That was written by Shyhearted with my permission and from what she said to me she took it down because she wants to rewrite it.
