Immediately fell in love with Spy x Family and I just had to fill it with some tender moments to appease this badump in my heart. Secret glances here and there, some kissing between Yor and Loid…perhaps more? (Yes. DEFINITELY MORE!) Honestly, I just want to see them happy in the end so let's get them there...with perhaps a little bit of drama along the way, cause really, what would a great romance be without a little bit of trouble mixed in (;

*MATURE THEMES AHEAD*

Keep in mind also that the story will be told in three different viewpoints. Loid, Yor, and Anya. Always in that order. Enjoy!

No more fighting. No more war, just peace if you succeed with this mission. Loid repeated the thought as he snuck another glance towards Yor, who was sitting on the couch laughing about something with Anya. It had been about three weeks since their charade as a family began and he found himself slipping into a dangerous comfortability that he was not used to. It was nights like this, with him in the kitchen preparing dinner and Yor and Anya in the living room patiently waiting that just made him feel…relaxed and at ease. Ridiculous. Loid thought as he pulled out the fresh ingredients from the fridge. This is simply what this particular undercover mission was making him do. It had nothing to do with how it made him feel, he was simply acting a part.

As soon as Operation Strix was over he would be reassigned to another assignment, and he would never see Yor or Anya again. That was the life of a spy. Constantly moving and always alone. No getting attached, no matter how undercover you needed to be. Normally leaving a mark, or a target, was something he was easily able to do. They were assets to the mission, nothing more and Loid was always able to keep his emotions in check. But this time…

He snuck another side eye at Yor. There was something different about this woman. Something he couldn't quite exactly pin down, and for him, that was unusual. She appeared to be normal enough. She had a stable job, no complaints by her peers. No problems with the police or the SSS, also known as: the State Security Service. A special organization that specialized in hunting down spies and surveilling the public. He had even at one point thought she was with the SSS, and had her bugged and followed just to make sure. But of course, she was clean. She was not working for them. In fact, she passed all background checks. There was nothing off about her character or personality either. She was mild-mannered, kind, gentle. And yet…ever since that night that she proposed that they marry, there was just something that seemed off to him.

Of course, he had still agreed to her proposal, how could he say no when she was providing him with the very thing he needed: a woman to pretend to be his wife for the sake of this operation. She was the perfect candidate to play his fake wife. However, it wasn't the proposal that didn't make sense to him, or her wanting to pretend to be his wife so that she could have a sense of security. The SSS were brutal, and civilians had every right to be paranoid…what didn't quite seem right was her insane ability to fight the men from the smuggling ring the way she did. That wasn't to say women weren't capable of fighting. He knew plenty of women who could fight. Of course, they were either trained government officials, fellow spies, or fought professionally as a sport. But he didn't know of any woman who learned how to send a man flying ten feet into the air the way Yor did because of a "self-defense" class.

He ran a hand through his hair and let out a sigh. But there was nothing suspicious that he could find on her. Furthermore, if that little mystery nagging at the back of his mind wasn't enough he found himself constantly sneaking glances at her. It was like he had no control over his body. Whenever she was within eyesight, he would steal a look in his peripheral vision just to get a glimpse of her. To deny that she was beautiful would make him a liar. Soft delicate facial features and a slender neck that led to a magnificently well-endowed chest. Slim waist and slender long legs. Cut it out you fool. You're acting like a starstruck school boy seeing a woman for the first time. She is strictly a cover, keep your focus.

"Papa!" Loid's thoughts were interrupted as he looked up from the vegetables for the evening's meal and met Anya's frustrated stare. "I've been calling you but you couldn't hear me."

"I'm sorry, I'm very focused on...getting dinner ready. I'm making curry tonight!" Liar. You were caught up thinking about Yor...again.

Anya beamed at his response although he didn't think curry for dinner warranted a smile that large but he shrugged the thought aside. Who knew what went on in a child's mind anyway? He watched curiously as Anya spun on her heel and hopped on the couch wildly, her little hands holding on to Yor for balance.

"Mama agreed that we can go to the park tomorrow since you both have been working really hard and we haven't had much time to be together as a family."

Fake family you mean…but just as Loid thought the words Anya's smile quickly turned into a frown and it looked as if the girl was about to cry. Damn it. Did he actually say that out loud but hadn't realized it? He had been working harder than normal and taking more missions as of late, what with the SSS rounding up his fellow agents left and right. Perhaps he slipped?

"It's a wonderful idea Anya," Loid quickly replied, "We can go down to the lake as well and feed the ducks." The girl's eyes widened, stars in her eyes, unable to contain her delight.

"Ducks?!" Anya turned to Yor excitedly, "Did you hear that mama? We can feed the ducks too!" Loid snuck what seemed to be the hundredth glance at Yor, watching as she gave Anya another of her dazzling smiles. Whatever questions he still had about the woman, he had to admit that she was perfect for the role. She was a natural in the art of deception, no qualms about lying to her co-workers or to the Academy…

He looked down at the carrots and quickly diced them, narrowing his eyes as his thoughts deepened. And anyone with that much skill…there had to be something going on with her. He was not the successful spy he was without picking up on certain things, and his gut was rarely ever wrong. There was something about this woman that he just couldn't place, and it drove him nearly insane. She was like a puzzle with a few missing pieces, but without those pieces, he didn't have the whole picture. He fought the urge to look at the woman again. Focus on the mission. That's right. All he needed to do was keep his focus, and eventually he would figure her out, no matter what.

Yor woke up to the sliver of light that beamed through the curtain of her window. She made a sour face at the beam and turned her back to the sun, sinking her head deeper into the pillows. The Shopkeeper promised that he wouldn't give her any new assignments for a while at least, which meant she would be completely free to spend time with Anya and…

She looked around the quiet bedroom and pulled the sheets of the bed closer to her chin. What was wrong with her? Why was she feeling like she was in such a slump? Even though she was grateful for Loid's agreement to this marriage arrangement she still felt…disappointed? No, how could she be feeling disappointed? She had blatantly asked a man she barely knew to pretend to be her husband, all so that she would be able to keep her cover as an assassin more manageable and to her shock, he accepted.

So, what was the problem? What was she expecting? To be a true wife? Kisses? To sleep in the same bedroom? Yor's cheeks blushed so hot she was sure steam was coming from her face in embarrassment. Of course, she didn't want him to kiss her. Did she? Granted, she was attracted to the man. He was tall, had a handsome face…and she was sure under his perfectly pressed suit that his body was toned and athletic. And the way he doted on his daughter Anya, it made her heart melt.

She gave an irritated huff and kicked off the blanket. She was being ridiculous. She'd never even been kissed before, maybe a peck or two on the cheek by passing crushes as a little girl, but she'd never been in a relationship with a man before. Her work always kept her too busy. Besides, it's hard to come home to a boyfriend when every other night you're covered in someone else's blood.

That was one of the reasons she had always remained alone. It was just too much of a hassle to be an assassin and live with someone. How would you explain all the late nights out? Or coming home to shower and have the water run red because of all the blood on your hands? Normally she would just put her coat over her blood-stained outfit and head home. It wasn't a problem to come home bloody if there was nobody to greet you, but that was too risky a move, now that she had a new husband and daughter waiting for her. What if Anya came running up to her and slid inside the coat, soaking herself in the blood of all the men Yor killed? Or what if Loid, as the gentleman he was, asked to hang her coat for her and once removed saw that she was red from her neck all the way down to her heels? What would she say then? No, she couldn't risk them finding out so after her assignments she had to go out of her way to find a nearby hotel to shower in and then return home. The additional time after her missions were getting harder to lie about as well. There were only so many excuses she could come up with without casting suspicion on herself. It also caused less time to spend with Anya and Loid and she was coming to realize that, despite this all being a façade for the sake of hiding from the SSS or other government agencies, she was actually beginning to enjoy time with the girl and her husband.

Husband…Yor's mind drifted to the night before. She had counted that he snuck looks her way a total of fifty-six times. Fifty-six! It was more than a bit excessive. But why? Did he not trust her to be around his daughter? Did he think that she wasn't playing the role well enough? Could it be that she displeased him so much that he was second guessing this entire operation? Getting out of bed Yor stretched her arms and yawned the rest of her tiredness away. She couldn't afford to have him call it quits. She didn't want to be arrested just for the fact that she was single at her age. There was no crime in a woman loving her job and making it her priority, and yet…women were being judged by neighbors and colleagues left and right, getting arrested for simply living alone! It also wouldn't help my case after being arrested, if they found out I was an assassin as well. She had to err on the side of caution, just in case. If she were to be caught it would break her poor brother Yuri's heart, and she wouldn't be able to live with herself if she disappointed him. He was her everything, her only living relative left. Everything she's ever done in life was for him. Her sole mission was to rid the world of bad guys and keep the world safe for people like him. If that meant playing her part more efficiently so that it would keep Loid from staring at her disapprovingly every night, then she would simply just have to be a better wife.

Anya ran ahead, arms extended as if she were a plane. "Don't run up too far ahead Anya!" She heard Papa yell and turned on her heel, waving at her parents excitedly. Even though they weren't her real family she had never felt happier in her life. Loid and Yor were the two kindest people she had ever met, despite their er…questionable activities. But no matter a spy or an assassin, her life was exciting! And she was never going to give that up! She had a soft bed to sleep in, food in her belly, and she didn't need to worry about any scientists prodding her or making her do icky tests. When she escaped that facility, she vowed to never go back, but bouncing from one orphanage to another was not ideal either.

No, this life, the one that Mama and Papa had given her was perfect. Every day felt like she was in her own episode of Spy Wars. Using her telepathic powers for good she would make sure that Mama and Papa's missions were so successful that they'll have no choice but to stay together forever! Anya's eyes beamed at the thought, and she stood there in a dazed trance, completely frozen by her happy thoughts. When Mama and Papa caught up to her she was standing still with her hands clasped together resting against her cheek with the brightest smile on her face.

She reminds me of that statue at the museum where I shot a man in his knee. That was a great infiltration case, I forgot about that one.

Did somebody poison her with paralysis? Let's see...there's succinyl choline, curare...belladonna, and hemlock. Or with the right dosage of anesthesia it can cause paralysis and yet still cause a person to feel everything...

Anya jerked from her position and stared up at them with shocked expressions. Why were her parents' minds always so quick to turn dark? Couldn't they just be as happy as she was at the thought of being together forever? And what was with her new Mama? She was happy that she would always be protected but sometimes...her thoughts were a little too frightening. She shook her head and quickly put on her smile again. No matter…Super Agent Anya Forger was on the case! She would be the one to keep her parents together. But how? She didn't know anything about this stuff. What made a family a family? What kept two people from never leaving each other?

After a few more minutes they had finally reached the park and she looked around at the vast field in front of her. There were couples and families picnicking on blankets, dogs running around and children laughing. Well, whenever Papa needed intel he always questioned informants…or at least that's what she had read in his mind on his day to day activities. And this place was practically filled with mommies and daddies who could give her answers! Anya let out another beam and ran across the field to the fellow picnickers with her trusty notepad and pen.

"I'm going to bleed them of information!" She yelled over her shoulders and wondered why both Mama and Papa were both staring at her with scared expressions on their faces. She had heard them both say it many times, and she wasn't sure what it meant but Housemaster Henderson had often said that asking questions was the best way to learn so it couldn't have been too terrible! She ran off with new fervor, she had a mission!

Loid watched in horror as the little pink blur of a child ran off. Where on Earth did she pick up these wild sayings? He chided himself as a parent, he knew she was way too young to watch Spy Wars. That's most likely where she was repeating these inappropriate lines from. He just didn't have the heart to rip her away from her favorite show. He would have to read more of those children guidance books back at the house to figure out the best way to go about all of that.

He was about to yell at her to come back but Yor's hand gently touched his arm and the soft shake of her head stopped him.

"She'll be fine Loid, it's an open field and we'll be able to keep an eye on her from here. She's naturally just a very curious child. Look how much fun she's having." Loid watched as Anya plopped down next to a family bombarding them with questions. They were smiling and didn't look at all displeased by her company. Letting out a sigh he nodded, but not before surveying the area again, taking in all the faces and noting their locations, he began to compartmentalize that info in the back of his mind. He had a photographic memory, which was an incredible skill to have as a spy. If anybody were to hurt Anya or attempt to, he would not only be able to recall what that person looked like, but also who the most likely suspect would be, based on distance.

The gentle whip of air brought him back into the moment as Yor pulled a blanket out from her bag and extended it fully before finally bringing it flat to the ground. She sat down gracefully, her long slender legs extended to the side of her and she looked up at him with her beautiful auburn eyes. The sunlight danced in them, and it felt like he was looking into a soft glow of red and gold. He couldn't help the thoughts that were suddenly racing through his mind. All he wanted to do was cup her face in his hands and pull her into a kiss. God, how he wanted to kiss her. He had wanted to ever since that first day meeting her in the tailor shop. Rarely had anybody snuck up on him, let alone a beautiful woman. How could he have missed someone that looked like her come in? And how could she have possibly picked up on him eyeing her? He was exceptional in his craft of stealth. He wasn't normally caught in the act of surveying a target. This meant that either this woman was incredibly perceptive, or his skillset needed some fine tuning.

With that tiny spark of intrigue, it had only grown with every passing day living with this woman. His need to know more about her drove him insane, especially as a spy. His work's purpose was gaining information and with Yor...there were just too many unanswered questions. How was she able to react to dangerous situations so calmly? Or roundhouse kick a grown man double her size and send him flying across the room? Where did she pick up her observational skills? Often however, those thoughts drifted into a different direction…a different type of wonder and he would think about how it would feel to run his hands through her long, beautiful hair, to kiss the soft skin of her neck…or to her soft sensual lips. Would her kisses be gentle like her demeanor? Or would the passion that lay right below the surface emerge?

Get it together man! You have kissed other marks before while undercover. This is no different, just kiss her and be done with it so you can stop daydreaming about it and get back to focusing on the mission. He forced a smile as he bent down, trying to hide his carnal thoughts, taking a seat next to Yor as she began to unpack the food from the woven picnic basket. True in previous missions it was required of him to get close to his targets and sometimes that meant becoming a lover in order to gain the asset's trust. But for Loid, it was just meaningless sex, void of any emotions. The intimate act didn't mean anything to him and he didn't care what happened afterwards, nor if the asset would be hurt by his sudden coldness of walking right out of their life once the assignment was over.

The mission was always priority and Loid never let his emotions get involved. And for all intents and purposes of pulling off this charade with Yor as man and wife, they should have already had multiple kisses or at least held hands in public, but…he looked over at the woman next to him, she was different, and for some unknown reason he was beginning to care about how she would feel when the day inevitably would come, and he had to walk away from all this. Which is why he had been so careful with his treatment of her, so strong in his resolve not to kiss her. No matter how much he wanted to. In truth…he didn't want to hurt her.

Loid shook his head trying to change the direction of his thoughts and attempted to make small talk, the silent tension between them thick. "It's a beautiful day out don't you think? And thank you for packing lunch, it was a wonderful idea to have a picnic."

Yor gave him a timid smile and took out the last container from the basket, "I'm not sure you'll be thanking me just yet. I tried to make some tasty sandwiches but I'm afraid I'm not the best cook and messed up on the fillings." Loid gave her a smile and waved a hand, dismissing her comment. He picked up one of the mini-sandwiches, "I'm sure it'll taste wonderful," he said before plopping it into his mouth.

Good God, it was terrible. Did she accidentally put ketchup instead of jam? He sat up proud and gave her the biggest grin, "It's delicious!" He watched as her hands flew to her mouth in shock and her shoulders began to relax from his admission, a soft smile playing at the corner of those beautiful lips. Something tugged inside of Loid at the vision of her looking pleased. "And thank you for agreeing to come out today. I know work has been giving you some late hours."

Yor looked down and gave a grim smile. "Apparently there have been more spies in City Hall than expected, and so I'm left with some late hour office projects. I'm sorry if I haven't been around as much for Anya, I know how important it is for her to do well in school."

He shook his head and tried to reassure her that she was doing a wonderful job at playing mother to his daughter. How many women would have so easily accepted a challenge like this, and then do it as well as Yor has? How many women would have been able to face her co-workers daily, telling one lie after another without so much of a crack?

"You're doing an excellent job Yor." Her eyes beamed up at his approval and he felt himself getting lost in them. The way she looked at him was enough to bring a man down to his knees. Without thinking, he leaned over and brushed a strand of her hair back behind her ear. His thumb slowly grazing her cheek. Her eyes widened and he smiled at her. Sometimes she was so hard to read, and sometimes…she was an open book, her expression clearly showing that she wasn't used to being this close to man, let alone being touched like this.

His hunger for her grew. It would be so easy to lean in and kiss those beautiful innocent lips of hers. "Have you ever been kissed before wife?" The last word came off as a low whisper and he felt the tremor in the soft gasp that escaped her lips. Her cheeks warm as blush creeped into them. Gently, he led his hand from her cheek to the nape of her neck and slowly pulled her closer as he leaned forward, their lips just barely a breath away from each other when loud screams instantly broke them apart.

Yor looked up in a confused daze frantically looking around. Why was everyone screaming? Where was Anya? Was Loid actually going to kiss her? Was she really about to let him kiss her? Why was she suddenly so hot? Her mind was spinning, her heart racing so fast she felt like it would burst out of her chest at any moment. Focus, focus! She spotted a flurry of movement as people ran like a stampede around them. She felt Loid quickly get to his feet, the warmth of his embrace disappearing, "Stay here Yor. I'm going to find Anya."

She watched as he ran off into the crowd before getting to her own feet. She wasn't about to stand around helplessly. Even though Anya wasn't her real daughter, in the last few weeks she had really begun to develop feelings for the girl. Anya was indeed a little firecracker, full of so much life and excitement. She was also quite intuitive for a six year old that Yor swore it was as if Anya could read her very thoughts at times. Right before joining this family, work had taken up so much of her time that she had forgotten what it was like to actually care for somebody, to dote upon them and make sure they were okay. Most of her nights were either alone or spent surrounded by terrible people and putting an end to them. Being an assassin closed off a lot of relationships to Yor and she was realizing that taking care of this child was a welcome change to her extracurricular activities.

Narrowing her eyes she looked past the crowds of people hoping to find—there! Across the street from the park she watched as a man snuck into the side of a building, his hand covering Anya's mouth. She was too far away to yell out to the girl, but she knew it was her. She'd recognize that pink hair of hers anywhere. She let out an angry curse and began to dash across the field, running through the crowds of people effortlessly, and up towards the same street the man had crossed earlier. If that bastard even harmed a single hair on that girl's precious head she was going to break every one of his fingers.

She reached the side entrance of the building and opened the door slowly and snuck inside. It was complete darkness as Yor stepped in compared to the bright sunshine that was just on the other side. She had to let her eyes take a second to adjust before continuing. When her eyes settled into the darkness, she saw that she was inside of what seemed to be an abandoned building, tiny stones and granite crunching underneath her feet. The building was old, already starting to fall apart. She listened closely for any cries or familiar voices. She didn't have to wait too long until the soft whispers came echoing down the hallway.

"That was a great diversion Billy made, setting out a bunch of snakes into the field." Yor bent lower to a crouch as she followed the voices. Making sure of her surroundings as to not alert the two men that she was following them. "We were lucky that an Eden girl was wandering around, easy pickings for kidnappers such as ourselves. These Eden parents are the worst parents! They never pay attention!"

Yor felt like she had just been stabbed. The men were right. Loid and her had taken their eyes off of Anya for one minute and now she was in danger. Yor's hands balled into a fist at her sides. What did an assassin know about parenting anyway? She assured Loid that his daughter would be safe but then failed to keep an eye on her. She was a terrible mother! Even if she was just playing pretend, she was horrible at that too! All she knew how to do was how to end a person's life.

"You're wrong! Mama and Papa are the best parents!" Yor's eyes lit up and she peeked her head around the corner at the familiar voice, her eyes falling on Anya just as the little girl gave the most devilish grin, "and you're going to be extremely sorry when Mama comes to get me." Physically she looked so incredibly small standing next to the two grown men but her head was held high and Yor could see the strength in her eyes.

"Your parents don't even know we have you. We'll ransom you and maybe we'll think about giving you back if they pay up, but don't get your hopes up too high." Suddenly to Yor's surprise, Anya's gaze turned in her direction and their eyes met. Yor quickly pulled her head back around the corner, barely missing the man who turned to looked where Anya was staring.

How did Anya know she was here? Picking up a metal rod amongst the fallen debris of the crumbling wall she twirled it easily in her hand pondering over her next move. She argued with herself but ultimately decided that she would refrain from killing the scoundrels in front of Anya for the child's sake and would settle instead for breaking a couple of their ribs for even thinking of kidnapping her.

Yor continued to make her way towards the two men, keeping low to the ground using the old tables for cover. Without hesitation she lunged from the floor up at the first man with incredible force. The man barely had any time to react, his eyes widening in shock as the metal pipe hit the side of his ribs with a resounding thud, and he let out a pained yell as he fell to the floor. Yor giggled, that's two ribs at once.

Her victory was short lived when the other man growled at her from behind and she turned just in time to see his hand plunging down at her with a knife. She side stepped easily and spun in a circle, round-housing him with a definitive kick to his back, causing the man to fall forward. He got to his knees, his eyes staring up at her like daggers. He grumbled a curse under his breath as he got to his feet about to ready for his second attack when Yor pounced into the air, arms raised and brought the metal rod down onto the man's head with a crashing strike. He stopped moving immediately, blood trickling down the center of his forehead onto his face and he fell to the floor with a heavy crash. Throwing the pipe to the side, Yor dropped to her knees and the little girl came running into her arms.

Anya couldn't believe what was happening! One minute she was "investigating" and the next she was watching her Mama beat down two men double her size! It had all started back in the park when she was running around asking the various parents what made a happy family stay together when all of a sudden a man out of nowhere came barging past her to stand in the middle of the field and with a giant bucket threw what seemed to be fifty snakes into the picnic area. Chaos erupted and everyone jumped up screaming. She was about to run back to Mama and Papa when somebody grabbed her, and placed a hand over her mouth to keep her from yelling for help.

Expensive uniform for an expensive daughter. Her parents must be loaded. She'll pack a pretty pay-day for us once we ransom her.

The man's thoughts sparked new fear into her as she tried to struggle but the brute was just too strong for her. She caught a glimpse of Papa running but not in her direction...he was chasing the man who had dumped the snakes but that was in the opposite direction of her! She knew she shouldn't have gone too far from them but she was getting so much information she had lost track of how much distance she had put between them.

When the man pulled her into the old abandoned building they were quickly met by his partner who hurried them down a maze of decaying corridors, the walls practically crumbling and the dust swirling around them as they moved. After a few minutes they exited the halls into a grand room, dimly lit by whatever sunlight creeped through the cracks in the windows, surrounded by tattered furniture and half-broken tables. She had read their minds and they were waiting for Billy, he must have been the one who threw the snakes that Papa went after.

Suddenly she heard her mama's thoughts and Anya looked around trying to pinpoint her. I couldn't even protect a child that I was pretending to be a mother to. This was a horrible idea to even think that I could do this. Now I'm going to have to kill these two men in front of her and Anya will be mortified of me. I'll have to leave. Anya glanced down at the empty hall but she knew Mama had to be down that way somewhere. She frowned at the idea that her Mama thought she was doing a bad job and she didn't want her to second-guess being with her.

"You're wrong! Mama and papa are the best parents!" She hoped that her mother could hear how genuine she sounded. She wanted her to know that she was happy being part of this strange little family and that she didn't want her new guardian to go away. How many kids got to say that one of their parents was a world-renowned spy and the other, a deadly assassin?! She let out her most mischievous grin and emptied her eyes of any fear, "And you're going to be extremely sorry when Mama comes to get me."

And she had been right. It didn't take long for her Mama to come to the rescue. Anya wanted to look away, a fight in real life was way scarier than watching it on TV. It was brutal and the sounds were loud but she found herself unable to take her eyes off of the action. Her mom looked magnificent! She was so incredibly strong and took down the two bad guys easily! Once the last man fell to the floor Anya ran towards her, snuggling her face into the comforts of her mother's bosom.

"Please don't leave me Mama. It was my fault for running off so far away. Please don't leave me and Papa. I think you're doing a wonderful job so please don't go." Anya felt the grip on her tighten as her Mama hugged her even harder when suddenly a loud crash sounded behind them and she whipped around in her mother's grasp, a worried look on her face. It was the man from earlier! The one with the snakes! He was lying face down on the ground as if he had just been thrown and behind him was…Papa! He looked just like Bondman from her TV show! Standing in the hallway, strong and tall, here to rescue his poor damsel in distress!

What the hell? Why is Yor and Anya here? Are they hurt? Were they injured at all? And who the hell are those two unconscious men? Anya read his thoughts and smiled. He was concerned for their safety! For both of them! That had to mean something right? Even if they were just pretending to be a family, if Papa was beginning to care for them then that had to be a good sign!

Anya skipped over to her Papa and hugged one of his legs tightly. "We're okay! Mommy saved me from the bad men and now we can go home! I got lots of answers from my interrogashun too!" She felt his hand pat her head and she could still hear his thoughts trying to make sense of the scene in front of him. Looking up at him this time she softly said, "Take us home Papa."

It didn't take long for Anya to fall into a deep sleep and Loid concluded that all of the day's activities must have completely exhausted the poor girl to bits. She felt dead in his arms as he carried her to bed and tucked the sheets up around her, with only the slightest movement of her chest indicating that she was indeed breathing. He looked down at the girl, wondering what it would have been like if his life turned out differently…if he didn't end up as a spy. Would he have been married by now with children of his own? What would they look like? Would they be as vibrant as Anya or would they have been quiet and solemn like he was as a child? Sighing, he got up from the side of her bed and walked towards the door, slowly closing it behind him. All he wanted was peace between the two clashing nations and this mission was depending on it. There was no excuse for what happened today.

Earlier he let his guard down with Yor and his little slip almost cost Anya her life. He lost his focus and that was completely unacceptable. If it wasn't for Yor locating Anya, then who knows what would have happened. After spending almost a month pretending to be the girl's father, he was actually beginning to become quite fond of her. If any harm were to come upon her…he shook his head, unwilling to even think about it.

He stopped walking as he passed Yor's bedroom door. There were so many questions he wanted to ask. What exactly happened with those two men? Did she fight them head-on completely on her own? But how could she have? They were twice her size and she had no weapon. And about what had happened earlier back when they were sitting…he wanted to apologize if he made her uncomfortable. He understood this living arrangement was solely to keep her safe from any suspicious eyes, and he already had no right to drag her into this insane mission. The least he could do was keep his hands off her.

Loid was about to knock when he heard a loud crash and glass breaking. Turning the knob he rushed in, only to find Yor staring back at him eyes wide with shock and…his eyes took in the sight before him. Yor was standing there in only her nightgown. Its material so thin he could practically see her naked body beneath it. It clung to her curves generously and his gaze traveled from the roundness of her breasts, down to the dips of her hips. Suddenly he wanted to march across the floor, reach for her and pull her into his arms. He shook his head and looked up at the ceiling embarrassed to have been caught gawking, "I'm sorry, I heard a glass break and after today I was just…worried." He peeked another glance before shifting his attention back at the ceiling.

"I'm sorry! I was trying to hang up this drawing Anya made the other day." Loid could see in his peripheral that Yor had made her way towards the closet and was putting on a robe. He instantly felt disappointed. He wanted to see her again in her night slip. Yor softly announced that she was decent now, and that he could turn around.

Slowly, he made his way over to the broken mess while she continued to talk, catching the embarrassment in her tone. "I thought I placed the frame correctly on the nail but it must have slipped. I'm sorry for scaring you." Loid bent down and carefully brushed off the pieces of glass as he picked up the drawing. He felt a tug at his heart, this mission was going to be the end of him if he kept letting things like this get to him. He was always so careful to keep his emotions under wraps in previous missions, so what on Earth was it about these two that made him begin to…feel?

He stared at the drawing. It was the three of them. Loid tried to fight the deep pull of his heart but how could he? He felt warmth as he looked at the portrait Anya had drawn. She was in the center holding both Yor and Loid's hands and they were all smiling from cheek to cheek. Behind them was a perfect triangle atop a large square…their home, Loid assumed and he let out a small laugh. The picture was filled with bright beautiful colors and she decorated the border with various sized hearts. On the bottom, in big letters she wrote, 'My Family.'

Loid's smile slowly fell into a grim line. This was not good. The girl was clearly getting too attached. Once the mission was over this family would be over. He would never see Anya or Yor ever again. That was simply how it had to be. No spy could successfully continue to do their work if they had to also worry about a family. He knew what he was giving up when he signed up for this job but he signed up nonetheless. He did it for the greater good, for peace…for a better world.

That's it he thought, no more distractions, tomorrow he would kick Anya into high-gear and encourage her to study harder. That would keep her busy he decided. And the faster she climbed the inner rankings at Eden the faster he would gain access to Donovan Desmond—his main target of this entire mission. He placed the picture carefully on the nightstand before turning his attention towards Yor.

There were some questions he needed to ask, ever since meeting her there was something about her that didn't feel quite right. He needed more information especially after what happened today. "When I found you two, those two men…you fought them? Alone?" He studied her carefully waiting for her response. He was hoping for a solid answer, a reasoning behind her surprise strength and vast knowledge on fighting. He was not however, expecting her to start giggling.

"Oh I got lucky!" She laughed again, "See, I saw in the distance Anya being taken into the building and so I followed them and waited for my moment! Luckily for us, the building was old and part of the ceiling fell on one of the men and in the confusion I knocked the other one on the head with a metal pipe I found."

Loid didn't completely believe her story, it sounded pretty made up to him, but he had no other theory to go on and interrogating her fully would probably scare her away. He shook his head disapprovingly, "You could have been hurt Yor. I don't want you running into danger alone. I know you said you took self-defense lessons but that doesn't mean you should go rushing off into situations recklessly. It's not safe." She gave him a soft nod in agreement. He shifted his feet and took a deep breath, there was still one more thing he needed to smooth over before he left.

"Back at the park…I'm sorry if I—I never meant to make you feel uncomfortable. I know that this is just a charade and I appreciate everything you are doing for me and my daughter, but I just wanted to reassure you that I will not touch you or take advantage of you while you're here."

He must have been so lost in his ramblings that he didn't even realize he had made his way over to Yor until there she stood right in front of him. She was looking up at him with those beautiful soft auburn eyes of her before turning her gaze down onto the floor. Her voice was so soft Loid almost didn't hear her.

"I—I'm happy to play Anya's mother," her fingers started to twirl around themselves frantically as she mustered up the strength to continue, "And—I don't mind if we were to…I mean…if it would make it seem more believable as a married couple…that is…perhaps…if you wanted to kiss…"

Loid was stunned by her admission. Clearly the girl was an innocent, it was obvious from the beginning and how she carried herself earlier that she was not used to the advances of men. Knowing that, how could he in good conscience continue to lead the poor girl on when he knew that there would be no possible happy ending for her? Perhaps if he wasn't a spy this could have worked despite them coming together under false pretenses but because he was a spy meant that after the mission was over, he would have to walk away. No, he couldn't do that to her. He wouldn't.

"I'm sorry if I've confused you but I think it's best if we stick to playing the parts of man and wife without acting upon it." He watched her bite her lower lip and his stomach tightened. Her gaze came back to meet his, her eyes dewy.

"I see. I'm not good enough—"

Loid didn't let her finish. Against his better judgement he placed his hands to her back, and pulled her body against his, her soft breasts pushed up against his chest and he felt a soft gasp escape her lips as one of his hands trailed up to the nape of her neck. He brought his lips down to hers gently, noting that this might very well be her first kiss and he didn't want to scare her. He wanted to show her exactly just how good enough he thought she was.

The kiss was warm, soft…and Loid felt himself losing control. Her lips parted and he took the invitation hungrily, his tongue meeting hers in excitement. She tasted sweet, and even though she was unsure at first, she was learning quickly. Her lips eagerly kissing him back. Yor ran her palms up his chest, and her fingertips felt like tiny electric shocks on his skin. As her hands made their way to the back of his neck, she pulled herself deeper into the kiss and Loid let out a low growl. He could feel the heat from her body, the curiosity in her kisses. She wanted more and he was happy to show her.

But this was exactly what he should not be doing! He had to push her away, leave now, but…

Loid grabbed her by the hips and gently lifted her off the ground, turning in a half circle before setting her on the edge of the bed. Lips still on hers, he slowly leaned them both towards the bed until her back was lying flat against the soft mattress and he was above her. He pulled his lips from hers, hovering a few inches away from her face, admiring this beautiful woman in front of him. Her hair had gotten loose and tumbled out of her braids in a mess of curls but she was still as ravishing as ever. Her lips were now a darker shade of pink from all the kissing and she was panting softly, her eyes beckoning for him to continue.

Her robe had opened a bit, revealing the thin nightgown, reminding Loid how very dangerous this situation was becoming. He lowered his lips to the side of her neck, trailing a succession of kisses down her chest. His hand wandered along her gown and he cupped her breasts. They were too large to grasp all at once, and she moaned underneath him as he gently massaged them. His thumb found her nipple through the satin material and he flicked at it softly, and she arched her back in response, pressing her body firmer into his. He could feel how hard he already was, and the driving need to want to bury himself deep inside of her was growing. She was driving him insane, and it took all of Loid's strength, strength he didn't think he had, to pull back from her.

He had to stop this before it was too late. She was necessary to this mission, true, and though in the past it was necessary to play the part as lover, he would not let it get to that point with her. He cupped her face with his hands, his voice low as he tried to calm the carnal desire that ached for her. He had to find the right words so that she wouldn't go off running, putting an end to the whole charade. "Yor…" He started off, his tone husky and out of breath. "I'm afraid I might have overstepped. You've been a wonderful addition to our home and Anya seems to have taken a liking to you but I don't want to hurt you." He leaned up from the bed, and took a couple steps backward trying to flash a calming smile in her direction. "Perhaps we should take things slowly." Loid watched as she only nodded in agreement. She looked…hurt? He ran a hand through his hair, of course he hurt her. She probably thought he was rejecting her. At this rate she would be gone in the morning too embarrassed to continue this at all. He had to end this on a positive note otherwise it would be the end of this mission.

Crouching down in front her, he grabbed her hands in his and looked up at her. "Please, Yor, you have to know how much I want you. I just have to think about Anya especially with her being right down the hall…"

"Oh!" Yor's eyes widened in sudden understanding and her shoulders seemed to relax a little. Loid felt a little guilty for using Anya as an excuse but it had worked. He leaned in and gave Yor a tender kiss on the cheek before getting back to his feet. This was the last time he would lose control like this and even though she felt like heaven in his arms he knew how it would eventually end. He would at least try to spare her some pain even if it meant living in a constant tormenting hell for him. Now that he had tasted those sweet lips of hers, it would be a mission all on its own to keep away from her. He opened the door to the hallway and let out a sigh. The upcoming weeks were going to be difficult, but he would just have to take it one day at a time…and right now, that called for an extremely cold shower.
